Things had changed greatly since the children had grown. She had become

understanding and patient.
Thus, when she returned from shopping he did not begin by asking how
much she had spent. Instead he asked what she bought and listened with
genuine interest when she told him of the dress and shoes which she got
and how she decided to get a hand bag to complete the outfit. She took
each out and showed it to him.
"I can't wait to see you in them," he told her.
"There is something else," she said handing him a bag, "I didn't want

"Thanks," he said taking the bag from her, "but that wasn't necessary."
He opened the bag and found a pair of women's stretch slippers, the kind
made of gray sweat shirt material.
"You need something else to wear around the house on the evenings when
we are relaxing together. They will be nice when you are not wearing
stockings or when we come home and you want to slip out of your shoes,"
she suggested.
"They are very nice. Thanks for thinking of me," he said slipping off
the flats he had been wearing since he got home and trying them on. In
his last few years he had simply been putting in time waiting out
retirement. He got home at a reasonable hour now so they spent much time
together. With the kids grown they ate out more often and spent numerous
weekends on get aways.
For the last few years she bought all of his clothes, both those he wore
to work and those he wore at home. The major difference was that she
bought his work clothes in the men's department and his casual clothes
in the women's department. Those she bought for him that he would be
seen in public in were all of a unisex style so that you had to look
closely to know that he was cross dressed. Those she bought for him to
wear around the house were totally feminine. Thus when she came in she
had found him in a black silk blouse, flowered slacks, stockings and
black ballerina flats with a bow across the toe.
"Let's eat out tonight," she suggested.
"I don't think the budget can take more than Chinese food," he
explained.
"That's ok with me if it's ok with you."
"OK. Let's go," he said getting up and heading toward the.bedroom. When
he got there he stripped down to his underwear, which consisted of
panties, a camisole and panty hose. Still wearing his new slippers he
hung up the clothes he was wearing.
"I'm not going to change," she told him, since she was casually dressed
in sweater, skirt and flats. She went to his closet and got out a blouse
with a button down collar. The buttons on the left were the only thing
unusual about it. Next she gave him a pair of black slacks. They were
tight in the waist larger in the hips then tapering tightly in the legs
in a style formerly known as capri pants. "Get a pair of dark socks from
your drawer," she told him.
Shoes had always been a problem because of the size of his feet. The
largest women's sizes available in cheap discount stores, ten and a
half, were too small. Still he could get his feet into them it was just
that they were not comfortable. Therefore she had to buy some of his
shoes in men's stores still she stuck to styles which were as close to
women's as possible. Women at that time had been wearing black
pseudo suede flats in various styles. She had gotten him a pair of
pseudo suede slip ons which closely resembled her own.
"Try these on," she suggested handing them to him. Most of the shoes he
wore in the house were obviously feminine, all having come either from
women's departments in discount stores or from "Tall Gals" shoe stores.
However he seldom wore them outside. He slipped them on over the socks
and stood up.
"No. I don't like the looks of them. Take them off and take the socks
off too," she directed causing him to sit back down and do as he was
told. "Here, try these," she said handing him a pair of black leather
wedgies that she had bought at a 'tall gals' shop. They had a moccasin
front with a two inch wedge heel. He slipped his stockinged feet into
them and stood up. "That's better," she told him "Wear those." When
she saw the look on his face she remarked "It'll be OK, it's getting
dark out. Your stockings are sheer enough that it just looks like you
are going without socks"
"OK," he said, not wholly convinced, as he took some bills, a credit
card and his driver's license from his wallet, putting them in a thin
folding nylon billfold. While his slacks had pockets he could not load
them up the way he did with his own pants. He could only take the
billfold, no wallet stuffed with cards, and the house and car keys on a
chain, no key case with seven or eight keys.
While he was not wholly pleased with her choice of attire he knew better
than to complain. When all this had started she had refused to
participate unless he gave her complete control. He agreed and it was
seldom a problem however once in a while, like now, she decided to push
him to the edge of embarrassment just to amuse herself. When she really
went too far he could usually plead with her and she would change. This
was not too bad so he just went along.
They went out to the car and drove to a nearby mall parking near the
entrance nearest to the Chinese restaurant. They got out and walked to
the restaurant, him not that steadily on the elevated heels. The maitre
d' greeted them and showed them to a booth.
After a pleasant meal they spent about twenty minutes window shopping at
the mall before returning home. He went right to the bedroom to slip
into something comfortable. He changed out of the shoes and pants
putting on a denim skirt and his new slippers. He returned to the living
room and sat down with her to begin reading. About ten thirty they both
decided to call it a night and headed to the bedroom. He slipped out of
his clothes, folding them carefully and putting them away. Like her, he
also selected a long silky nightgown and put it on to get ready for bed.
After a trip to the bathroom, he slipped out of his slippers and got
into bed.
