Chapter Three
He had little choice but to pick up the pace to keep up and then her
hurried pace turned into a mini-hop as he found himself skipping along
with her. It almost felt like his feet were going to pop out of his
shoes as it was his first time being in such an opened toed shoe but even
worse he felt so uncomfortable skipping with a heavy diaper between his
legs.
"Slow down girls!" yelled their mother trying to hurry along and then
grabbing Emily's arm as they got to the revolving door. "I know you're
excited but this is the city and you need to never leave our sides.
Julianna already gave us one heart attack yesterday and no way could I
take another."
"Sorry mom," said Emily as they went inside.
Up the elevator they went as Timmy felt such a relief just to be inside.
"Nana, we're changing for lunch right?" said Timmy feeling gross.
"Between the fresh air, the stress and that last little run down the
block. I..."
"Of course darling," said his grandmother as he happily raised his arms
so she could take off his outfit. "You've been the best little sister
anyone could ask for and I know that little jarred stuff goes right
through you. Nana already expected that so I'm sure it maybe already
making its way out of you system."
"Emily, come in the bathroom with mommy and let's Nana help sissy," said
Felicity realizing Timmy needed some privacy.
"I think it's started during skipping," said Timmy embarrassed instead
she lifted him to the bed and unsnapped it between his legs.
"Let's check this first and I can lift it right over your head as you
take a well-deserved rest sweetie," said his grandmother gathering his
dress around his waist and then getting a nasty whiff. "Oh my dear. Why
didn't you say something? How long have you been sitting in this dirty
girl?"
"Nana, I'm sorry," cried Timmy as she opened it smelling the stench.
"I'm not sure. It smelled so bad in the nail place and I wasn't sure
what happened. Please don't be mad."
"Oh dear! Never!" said his grandmother closing it for a moment. "But we
better get this off first."
Quickly she pulled off his outfit now and then reopened his diaper. She
quickly pulled out the dirty one and then wiped him rapidly while holding
his leg into air to prevent his but from touching the pad beneath it.
The stink was like something that he could never have remembered
delivering before but she paid it no mind cleaning him everywhere. When
she finished she tossed everything stinky and dirty into a zip lock bag
as Timmy felt wonderful to feel clean again.
"Wow, you were prepared for that Nana," said Timmy sniffing the air as
the stench was fading.
"Unfortunately Nana expected it Julianna," said his grandmother placing a
clean diaper under his but. "You're not my first baby honey."
"Please Nana," said Timmy as she began covering him in ointment and
power. "Please don't call me a baby. I just..."
"Little sissy is right Nana," said Emily emerging from the bathroom and
jumping on the bed next to him. "With her pretty nails and earrings.
She's a big girl now! Right sissy?"
"Sure?" said Timmy playing along.
"No Julianna! Say it," said Emily. "Mommy says adults are not mind
readers so you have to tell them. Now say it little sissy!"
"Ok... ok," said Timmy seeing his mother intently look at him. "I'm
still Emmie's little sister but I'm a big girl now."
"Yes you are," said his mother leaning him and hugging him before
whispering in his ear. "Love you honey."
"You are the best sister anyone could ask for," said his grandmother
nodding at him. "Now let's get a move on girls. We've got to get you
dressed and those lovely dolls of yours!"
As his grandmother opened some packages tossing them on the bed, Emily
stepped in handing him his doll.
"Take off Joanie's outfit and we'll dress them together," said Emily.
Dressing dolls as he sat in only a diaper was not exactly what he
expected to be doing now as he took the outfits from his sister. There
was little choice in the matter anyway as he pulled the outfit over his
doll's head and then his grandmother interrupted lifting him before
placing him down on the floor.
"Step in honey," said his grandmother unzipping the back of what looked
like a series of big layers.
He stepped in looking curiously at the vast array of blue and red layers
and then his grandmother slid the garment right up to his waist.
He already knew what it was like to have on a big ruffled panty over his
diaper and even scratchy petticoat surrounding it but this time they were
all one poufy garment as she snugged the waist band right up to his
naval.
After she zipped up the back and snapped the rear closer, up went his
arms and down went a top over his head as just that quickly he had been
dressed. Without hesitation now she lifted him to be seated at the edge
of the bed putting on his little white sandals back on and then suddenly
he recognized that he and his dollie had been dressed identically.
As she took the bows from his pigtails it was ever so bizarre as he
picked up his doll studying the outfit. Just like the doll sized version
he stared down at himself in a simple red t-shirt with short rounded
sleeves never imagining he'd be dressed like a doll. His grandmother had
dressed him now just as he dressed his doll Joanie in authentic American
Girl shirts and across both of their chests read "American Girl" in pink
letters. Surrounding their classic font, the girly t-shirt was decorated
with pink, silver, and white stars before the top was tucked neatly into
his fluffy skirt. Beneath his naval now he was in a into a blue stretch
denim little girl's skirt that had three layers of ruffles and that ended
just at his knees. Beneath the last ruffle, a layer of red puffed out
the skirt adding some shape and the sewn in red ruffled panty kept
everything tightly in place.
"Give Nana little Joanie for just a second please," said his grandmother
taking the doll. "Let's get everything just right like yours sweetie."
What he didn't expect was his grandmother quickly chopping some bangs in
the dolls hair and then handed him some little bows attached to some
bands.
"You want me to do this?" said Timmy never doing anything like that
before.
"Of course honey. All you do is wind in the little pigtails and sissy
will help you if you need help," said his grandmother.
Never in his life had he any desire to do a doll's hair but he found
himself doing exactly that. It wasn't as tough he thought as use a brush
sectioning the hair and then quickly wound in the band. It was a little
unnerving noticing his grandmother watching his every brush stroke
seemingly inspecting him creating pigtails and then wrap in the little
bows.
"Good job sweetie," said his grandmother lifting up his chin. "Now let's
fix yours and you two will look adorable together."
"Great?" sighed Timmy softly with sarcasm.
"Glad you agreed darling," smiled his grandmother knowing what he meant
yet not giving an inch. "We're just going to make yours a little
prettier though."
Just the thought was awfully sickening as she took hold of one his
pigtails and then he noticed the red bows being lifted towards his head.
With one hand now she steadied his head and then stretched his curled
pigtail out totally straight before sliding on the new band and twisting
it in a few times.
"Ouuccchh Nana," moaned Timmy as she snapped the band tightly against his
head and tightened the tension. "Easy please."
"Sorry sweetie," said his grandmother doing the other side now. "Hold
your head straight one more time please and it'll be over in a second.
Just be a little tough for Nana like a good girl please."
Just having her not tugging anymore was quite a relief, but he knew with
her it wouldn't be that simple as she used her fingers separating the
singular coil on each side into three distinct curls. He cringed a few
times as she brushed each of the three sections she had now created
annoyed at being not called tough yet understanding that little girls
were a lot tougher than he thought. He knew to sit without fussing when
she twisted each little section re-curling quickly with her barrel happy
at least that it wasn't Emily doing it.
Again she took a brush to each one after she put down her iron as this
was a much more brutal pulling at his hair but he knew he couldn't
complain. Just wanting him to be tough yet pretty was infuriating enough
as he knew she was finally finished as she sprayed each side.
"Oooohh pretty," said Emily handing him his doll. "Here I fixed them for
you so they'll be just like yours."
"Terrific?" gulped Timmy as his grandmother brushed through his bangs.
"Chin up," said his grandmother as he now saw the curling iron in front
of his face. "I don't need to warn you how hot this is. Do I?"
"No Nanna," said Timmy softly as she quickly curled under his bangs
resetting them.
"Good girl!" said his grandmother taking out the iron and finger brushing
his bangs. "And what a doll you are honey. Now let's go have some fun
with them."
"Good one Nana," giggled Emily as suddenly Timmy's eyes widened knowing
what she meant. "Now my turn Nana."
Not just identical dresses but even identical hairstyles were on both he
and his doll Joanie as his sister may have been left out of fixing his
curls, but certainly wasn't taking a back seat to working on his face.
All he could do now was open and close his eyes on command as his sister
coated his lashes. A touch of mascara from her wand and a clear natural
gloss made Emily feel like she was perfecting the look as his grandmother
instructed as he sat while Emily relished working on him.
"Careful with the eyeshadow and blush," Warned his Nana. "Don't get that
on her dress."
"Of course not Nana. So you like it sissy. Take a look. You're
beautiful," said Emily as she finished as Timmy hoped up on the bed.
"Whooaahh," gulped Timmy able to see his full appearance from the
elevated height almost stunned at how he looked. "Oh boy."
With his eyes wide open only a pretty little girl with her doll gazed
back as they had perfectly twined him. Behind his dainty curled under
bangs, his pigtails had been lowered just a touch and brushed out into a
series of thick wavy sections. They were still set just above his ears
yet now three distinct thick loose curls swung on each side of his face
no longer looking baby like instead rendering a dainty little girl. The
end result of all Nana's separating and teasing outward was that his hair
never looked so full or so darling but it's not like that eased his
angst.
He couldn't even help himself from shaking his head as he watched them
endlessly spring with even the slightest movement and then realized his
bow's logos matched his t-shirt. Atop each pigtail a red satin bow had
been wound tightly and was decorated with the American Girl logo amid the
glittery plastic star that was centered on the bow and sparkled right in
the middle of his chest. They were just like his doll's and so was
everything else as it wasn't bad that enough he had been dressed to be
the coordinating the little sister but now this.
He tried to convince himself that at least he had graduated from being
their baby, yet he was more a little girl than ever today. With his
bright red nails and little earrings shinning behind bouncy hair, this
was all too hard to accept as his grandmother lifted him to his feet.
His sister now was also in the same American Girl shirt, yet her skirt
was more tweenish being shorter, more tapered and without any crinoline
or ruffle. They were more like big sister and little sister again in
coordinated outfits as Emily dropped the strap of his red pocketbook
across his shoulder.
It was hard to believe that both he and his sister were both dressed
identically to their dolls as Emily was having the time of her life as
they stepped out on their latest adventure to American Girl Place. Just
the wind blowing his hair or the feel of it swinging out of the corner of
his eyes was driving him crazy yet within a few long city blocks they
were there at a place every little girl dreams of coming to.
"Wow Nana," yelped Emily seeing the tremendous doll store. "It's
ginormous."
Even Timmy was taken a back as it was nothing he expected being led into
the multi-story store designed for girls from around the world. He was
entering a place he never dreamed he'd be in as it was no place for a boy
yet there he was looking as pretty as anyone there. His grandmother
perused the aisles with her girls and their dolls making suggestions to
Emily on furniture and outfits for her dolls. She already had quite a
collection at home but this was like paradise as she picked out item
after item for her grandmother to buy her.
For a good hour they shopped as he just stood quietly holding his doll
overshadowed by her excitement and shopping spree. From time to time it
was hard not to get lost in his refection in the stores mirrors and huge
glass windows zoning out until finally they were headed up the escalator.
When they got to the top and turned the big sign read "American Girl
Caf?" and in they went.
"Good afternoon ladies," said the hostess, "I'll bring you to your
exquisite table and while you wait please make a memory to treasure!"
"How wonderful!" exclaimed his grandmother as they were seated.
He sat next to his doll in her own special seat and then it all began as
Emily loved every second. From Table Talkers conversation cards and
shared giggles to gourmet dishes, she wanted everything the experience
could offer. Every little detail was incredible as she soaked it all up
and then the extra celebration package turned it into her own private
party.
It was hard not to feel warm inside as it brought tears of joy to her
eyes as she was living a dream of having a sister and in a place she
dreamt about going to. When the meal and celebration finally ended they
headed back down the escalator but those warm feelings quickly turned to
something terribly different as he was interrupted by a familiar voice
while his sister was browsing with their grandmother for a few last
things.
"You look incredible honey," said a woman touching his hand. "My
goodness are you adorable or what?"
Timmy was already leery of any stranger after the prior day's incident
but suddenly Timmy's eyes bugged out as the woman bend her knees
crouching down and looking right into his eyes.
"Don't be nervous. I know it's you Timmy but I'm not telling anyone,"
whispered the woman winking at him. "I'd never make you uncomfortable
like that and I love that outfit on you sweetie. It's so pretty on you
and I was just about to buy the same bows for my niece."
"Hi," shivered Timmy. "Mrs. McCoy. I.. I..."
"It's ok honey. Don't be nervous. Never in a million years would I have
recognized you if I hadn't seen you with your mother and sister upstairs
coming out of the caf? and even then I had to do double take," said Mrs.
McCoy touching one of his pigtails and feeling the post secured through
his lobe. "I think it's wonderful and you should be proud of who you
are. You're welcome like this to express yourself in my class anytime
and I promise to make sure you'll be accepted like any other little girl.
In fact I encourage you too and I'll make sure your mother knows that."
"Well hello Mrs. McCoy," said his mother interrupting.
"Well hi Mrs. O'Rourke and please call me Patti when we're not in
school," said Mrs. McCoy standing up. "How wonderful to see you today
and what a pleasant surprise to see one of my students here."
"Thanks and you can call me Felicity as well," started his mother. "Now
about my..."
"Felicity, no explanation necessary," said Mrs. McCoy stopping her gently
touching her forearm. "I believe in free expression and I've just told
Tim--. Sorry your daughter.... that this stunning young lady is welcome
in my class anytime and that I'd make sure she'd feel as beautiful inside
as she looks on the outside. As a parent myself, I commend you on
allowing her to spread her wings and I don't think she could be any more
adorable."
"Oh thank you," said Felicity almost not knowing what to say.
"You're welcome and I'm sorry if I startled you honey but I'm glad I was
able to at least make you understand how welcome you'd be," said Mrs.
McCoy smiling at him and then whispering. "So did you have another name
I should also know about?"
"Yes my little sissy's name is Julianna," said Emily barging in. "Jules
for short of course and it's our special weekend."
"How wonderful girls. And I love that name and I love how you all match
so perfectly," said Mrs. McCoy. "Was that your idea?"
"Well mine and my Nana's," said Emily putting her arm around Timmy. "My
little sister likes to be dressed up pretty so I make sure her curls are
perfect and Nana lets me help with a little makeup."
"I can see that," smiled Mrs. McCoy squeezing his hand one last time and
then giving him a wink. "Hopefully I'll see Julianna in class soon but
until then it'll just be our little secret ok little Miss O'Rourke. See
you soon ladies."
"Well thank you," said Felicity as Patti softly patted her shoulder.
"Oh and I'm putting my personal cell on the back should you need any help
getting her situated in class," said Mrs. McCoy handing her a business
card and writing her number on the back. "Have a nice rest of the day
girls."
Timmy wanted to crawl under a rock and die now as his teacher walked away
as quickly his mother grasped his hand.
"It's nothing honey," whispered his mother. "Many kids go through phases
and that's all she thinks it is. A special weekend."
"A phase in dresses and dolls?" cried Timmy wanting to explode yet trying
to contain himself. "What if she tells my class? My friends? I could
never go back."
"Your sister's been in therapy and none of her classmates know? Do
they?" said his mother crouching down and looking him in the eye.
"Teachers have many secrets and it'll pass. Trust me you're probably not
the only boy in your class that enjoys being in dresses. You just don't
know who the others are."
"I didn't say anything about enjoying any-" started Timmy as his
grandmother had finished paying and came over with the shopping bags.
"Julianna, remember we're in store and this is not the time or place for
any little tantrum," said his grandmother interrupting. "Shall we
ladies?"
"Please!" moaned Timmy storming out the door as everyone followed.
"I'll be fine darling," whispered his grandmother as she quickly took
hold of his hand the second he got out the door. "Just remember you're
doing all this for Emily and trust me what you've done hasn't been for
not. You've been as wonderful a sibling as any sister could ask for and
Nana's proud of you."
"Ok?" grunted Timmy ever frustrated rolling his eyes. "But Nana..."
"Hush! You're just a little tired," said his grandmother stopping him
again from speaking. "Worst case we can bring out the carriage again but
I thought we were past that now. I thought you were a big girl now?"
"Please I'll walk," said Timmy wanting no chance that they stick any
bottle or gross food in his mouth again. "I'm big girl and big girls
don't need carriages. I just didn't expect to get recognized as some
precious little one."
"Ok sweetie. Maybe that's my fault," said his grandmother giving a
little side hug as they continued walking. "I guess I made you too
adorable. But I saw a store and Nana maybe can fix that a little. Here
Felicity."
"Where you going mom?" said Felicity as she was handed all the bags.
"Just a quick stop and we'll meet you back at the room Felicity," said
Nana leading Timmy away from them. "You go and play with all your new
stuff Emily. I saw a store yesterday and we've got a quick stop to make
so sissy can feel a little better. See you in a little bit."
Timmy was totally confused as he was now lead away by his grandmother as
they walked in a different direction. It was a quick walk and then Timmy
realized he was being lead into a brightly lit store that featured all
type of cosmetics and hair accessories in the window. Just all the
scents and fragrances lighting up his nasal cavity sent his mind racing
as he was being brought towards a series of chairs where women were
having their faces done. He couldn't believe she might be having him
made up and then they stopped just short of all the cosmetics being
applied in an aisle of hair accessories.
"Turn around and face the wall for Nana please Julianna," said his
grandmother as Timmy was facing a peg board now filled with clips and
bows.
He was confused now as to exactly what was happening as he heard some
plastic packages open and felt her holding things against his head.
"May I help you?" said the saleswoman.
"Yes, please. I think these should work," said his grandmother.
"Great you can try them on here sweetie," said the woman pointing to a
chair at the end of the aisle.
"Go sit there for the nice lady Julianna," said his grandmother. "It's
nothing to be worried about."
"Yes Nana?" gulped Timmy extremely confused as he hopped into an elevated
chair and his grandmother pulled out his bows.
"Now just let the nice woman do her job dear and we should be done in a
minute," said his grandmother undoing his pigtails.
Just having the tension gone was quite a relief but he knew with her it
wouldn't he that simple as she used her fingers separating his locks. He
cringed a few times as the saleswoman brushed out all the hairspray and
then oddly dampened it just a little with a spray bottle. It didn't take
long though until she took a flat iron to his locks and then within
minutes it was all pin straight again.
"Sit up as straight as you can and look forward princess," said the
saleswoman lifting the back of his hair. "You've got such pretty hair
already and this will be quick and painless honey."
"Ok," said Timmy not expecting a snap at his neck.
It was a strange sensation as wasn't too sure what had happened but then
felt it a few more times as the woman worked quickly.
"Here hold the brush and these clips Julianna," said the woman handing
him a series of clips and bows plus a black bristle brush as he glanced
down stunned at the size of it. "It's pretty right?"
A good half dozen more times snaps and it was quickly over as she had
successfully distracted him from what was occurring as the woman took the
brush from his hand feverishly brushing behind his bangs.
"Ok?" said the woman looking over at his grandmother as she held all the
hair behind his bangs between her fingers. "I'll pull it back and blend
the crown?"
"Yes, that'll be lovely," said his grandmother as the woman began tightly
winding in a small band and pulling it taught. "We'll take them."
"Wonderful," said the woman. "And did you want one of the bows or
clips?"
"Yes I already picked quite a few cute things I like for my other
granddaughter as well," said his grandmother handing the woman a twenty
dollar tip. "You do beautiful work and please put red satin one in."
"Thank you," said the woman stuffing the twenty in her pocket and
squirting some gel in her hands.
She globed the gel now atop his crown area gluing back the entire top and
pulling pin after pin from a little bowl as she pinned it tightly towards
the back of his head. With a little towel she wiped her hands and then
combed through the gel before setting it for a moment with her hair
dryer. When the took the clip from his fingers he could oddly barely
feel it snap on and then almost freaked seeing a long red strand cross
his shoulder.
"Nana?" gulped Timmy looking over towards her.
"Stand a minute Julianna," said the woman taking a scissor from her
vanity. "You want it straight or tapered."
"Oh I think just straight across is fine," said his grandmother as he
stood.
"Stand tall princess," said the woman as he felt the tension as she
brushed down his back.
A momentary sheering sound followed and then it was over as he looked
over at his grandmother.
"That's perfect," nodded his grandmother seeing the fear in Timmy's eyes.
"Chin up and eyes closed. Just about done honey," said the woman
brushing his bangs and shaking a can of hairspray before saturating his
head. "There! Just like if you hadn't have gone short."
In an instant it was over now as the woman spun his shoulder towards the
mirror revealing his new look. For the most part he didn't look too
different except his hair had been pulled back instead of in pigtails
except it was impossible not to see the long strands sitting behind both
shoulders. When she lifted the hand held mirror showing him the back of
his head, he couldn't believe the sight, seeing nothing but long Irish
red straight hair now spanning three quarters of the way down his back.
They had added 4 layers of simple extensions which matched his natural
hair perfectly as behind his head his pin straight hair hung beautifully
before it had been trimmed to a straight across finish. Atop it was a
massive red silk bow helped blend his real and clipped in locks and even
more so cementing the pretty princess appearance he unmistakably now
possessed.
His amazement didn't last too long until the woman interrupted sweeping
some of the hair onto the front of each shoulder as his grandmother paid
the bill.
After a few more blocks they finally arrived back at the hotel and went
upstairs as Timmy was dying to enjoy a bit of downtime.
"We're back everyone," said his grandmother opening the door. "What do
you think Emmie?"
"Oh, Nana!" yelled Emily circling her brother. "That is so pretty. Mom,
hurry and see sissy."
"Yes, I'm dying to see actually," said his mother rushing out of the
bathroom. "Oh mom! I can't believe you. That's gorgeous on her! You
just can't help yourself can you?"
"Nothing but the best for my girls," said their grandmother smiling. "I
figured that would make her more comfortable after today and they snap
right out so it's no big deal."
"I would think so," sighed their mother softly stroking his hair. "It's
so pretty."
"And I can help fix it later for the show right?" said Emily.
"Of course you can Emmie," said her grandmother hugging her. "Now go
play a little and let's give sissy a break. I know she's very tired."
Timmy sat watching tv on the bed while his sister enjoyed playing with
her new American Girl dolls and accessories as he sat trying to stay as
uninvolved as possible. A nice few hours of downtime was greatly needed
as he laughed at Sponge Bob episodes until his grandmother interrupted
rolling the corner desk chair in front of the bed.
"You can just sit and watch tv while I fix your hair for dinner," said
his grandmother tossing some items on the bed and tapping the chair. "Ok
sweetie?"
"Yes Nana," said Timmy giving her a look as if he had a choice and moving
from the bed to the chair without incident.
Even though she asked, she really wasn't asking anyway as he sat watching
his show feeling the bow snap from his head. He looked over his shoulder
now realizing his grandmother was about to work on his new locks and that
he'd again be mannequin for his sister.
"Ok ready Emmie," said his grandmother as he felt a big section of his
extensions being secured beneath a jaw clip a top his head. "You sit
here right behind Julianna and we'll do it together."
"Yes Nana," said Emily excited. "Can we do the barrels like I want?"
"Of course honey," said her grandmother moving a chair behind Timmy.
"You sit and let mommy do your while we do Julianna's. You realize those
are a lot of work right sweetie?"
"Yes Nana," said Emily with a huge smile on her face. "But I never had a
sister with such pretty hair before. I want her to look perfect."
"I know you do," smiled their grandmother as Emily sat behind him. "I'll
pull it and you spray before we curl it ok."
Timmy at least knew now whatever she was doing to him would eventually
snap out as his sister sat behind him dying to curl his hair. As the
first section was stretched to the left he couldn't really see what was
happening but didn't need to anyway as she coated it in hairspray and he
felt the tension as she rolled it up. When the first curl was unraveled
his grandmother placed it gingerly on the front his shoulder as he looked
down seeing the coil as all he could do anyway was bide his time as curl
after curl filled his shoulders. It was better than being out in the
city anyway as he was in rush to leave again as slowly but surely they
curled his extensions.
It took almost an entire episode of Sponge Bob until finally they seemed
near the top while she sat having her own hair curled by her mother as
well. It was the most patient he'd ever seen her as she took section
after section from her grandmother without a single complaint humming and
singing as she spun his locks.
"I bet you can't wait to see how pretty this looks sissy," said Emily
proudly. "I know you're going to love it."
"Of course she is," said his grandmother kicking his ankle.
"Umm sure Em," said Timmy rolling his eyes.
He was already well beyond being worried about being her life sized
dollie as at least this last evening in the city would soon be behind
them as more curls were stacked than he could even believe now.
"Wow, Emmie," sighed Felicity shaking her head as she peeked over seeing
how similar Emily and Julianna's hair looked now. "You're getting so
good at this?"
"I know!" said Emily. "It's from all the practice on my Beauty shop
Barbie."
"Well we can thank Nana for that too," said her mother releasing the last
curl on Emily and fixing her bow. "Ok you're done princess."
"And one more second for sissy," said Emily unraveling the last curl.
"Wow that's so pretty."
"It really is. Go get dressed Emmie and hands up Julianna," said his
grandmother snapping in a bow clip.
With her finally finished, his grandmother had him stand and gingerly
pulled off his shirt careful not to touch his hair. In a moment he had
been stripped down as she made sure he was dry and then rolled some
tights up his legs. The second she finished stretching the waistband
then right over the top of his head came his dress. Gingerly she slid
his arms inside and then ever so carefully lifted his hair as she zipped
up the back. A tug here and there to straighten the fit and then he
stood trying not to flinch as she tied the big bow in the back.
She was all business making sure there wouldn't be a moment wasted while
Felicity helped Emily dress as he stood while she added a touch of
mascara to his lashes.
"Oh mom! Just when I think you can't outdo yourself," sighed Felicity
shaking her head as she peeked over seeing how similar they looked now as
his grandmother added more pink eye shadow. "People will think they're
twins?"
"She's makes just as pretty a big girl right?" said their grandmother
sliding some gloss on his lips. "And this wasn't me? Big sister picked
this for both of them?"
"Mom, you sure she's going to be able to walk in those," started Felicity
as their grandmother raised her hand for her to stop speaking.
"She'll be fine," said his grandmother pulling on his shoes. "It's
nothing but a little kitten heel and the show is only a block and a half
away. Stand up Julianna."
As he stood, Timmy immediately felt the slight elevation and his foot at
an angle it had never been at before as his eyes darted down toward the
floor. With his hands he pushed back the flaring dress seeing his feet
before his momentary gaze was interrupted by his sister taking both of
his hands.
"You look beautiful sissy," said Emily holding both his hands and gazing
into his eyes. "Thanks again for being the best sister any girl could
ask for. It's meant the world to me."
"You're welcome Emmie," said Timmy almost choked up knowing as difficult
as all this was that he had helped his sister through her anxiety. "Now
let's just enjoy the show because I know how much you've been dying to
see it."
Of course instead he was pretty sick as he watched his dress sway a
little as he moved on the bed still stunned they could make him look so
precious. This little girl staring back was certainly tea party ready as
they had put him in a butterfly embroidered spaghetti strap style off-
white dress with delicate pink accents. The rich satin soft taupe
background color had a faint overall pin-dot design adding dimension and
a delicate split round neckline. The tapered stain trimmed bodice shined
with contrasting fuchsia and pink butterfly appliques scattered
throughout the pattern and also across the full ruffle pleated tea length
skirt. Around the empire waist a thick fuchsia sash had a silk butterfly
on the left and was tied in a wondrous bow in the back.
There he was certainly no longer babyish in dainty pigtails or dressed
like his doll yet Julianna was more girly than ever now. Instead of
twinning his doll though he'd be twinning his sister as they were both
fancily dressed in the exact same tea length dress and with matching long
curled hairdos.
What still distinguished him as the little sister was the darling sized
fuchsia blow at his crown and his dainty bangs as his sister's bow was
considerably smaller. Behind the bows, red ringlets filled both of their
backs and shoulders adding to their dainty appearance. They'd both also
be sporting nude tights atop little kitten heeled pink open toe sandals
except his were at least thankfully a touch lower than his sisters that
looked at least an inch higher.
When he looked up now, it was crazy to see that his mother had on a knee
length halter style adult version of the dresses they were in and his
grandmother now had on a glittery sweater that matched with the same
butterfly appliques. He was unquestionably the family's little princess
and his Nana had made sure in no way could that be mistaken like earlier.
That had at least allowed him to look closer to his age even if that
meant his sister acting even older. Once again they'd be going out with
him looking as pretty as they could possibly make him as his grandmother
touched up his lips with a slightly brighter pink lip gloss and pumped up
his blush.
He already knew the drill as they were about to leave posing on command
with his sister as the two spiral haired redheads were positioned and
asked to blow kisses to the camera as he wanted to die acting so girly.
Down to a fancy dinner they went all dressed so elegantly and coordinated
as they sat as a family having their meals. At least no one would feed
him or push disgusting things in his face as he sat quietly without
complaining ladylike having his dinner. Sure his grandmother would make
sure not a morsel would get near his dress and not ounce of desert would
leave a mark on his face but if that was the worst of it he could deal
with it. The little gloss on his lips actually tasted nice when she
greased his lips again after dinner and then the evening breeze chilled
his back before she slipped his arms inside a matching pink bolero
jacket. When she lifted their hair off their shoulders sliding the
jackets into place, he soon understood why women were so chilly in
sleeveless dresses feeling the goosebumps.
"Hold your purses tight girls and stay close because the cross town
breeze is not your friend in these hairdos my little beauties," said
their grandmother keeping them close.
He was now the pretty little girl in heels minding her curls in a soft
wind arm and arm with his sister out for a night in the big city. It
seemed so much colder than yesterday not being in the carriage and so
much longer of a walk in his shoes.
They all walked down the street now as one family and then when they
turned the corner there would be no controlling Emily.
"Oh Nana," said Emily stopping in her tracks and then growing more
excited than he'd ever seen her. "Please don't tease me! Are we really
going in?"
"Of course honey," said her grandmother almost melting when she said
Emily's expression. "Would Nana tease about that!"
"Yeeeeaaahhh Yeeeesssss," screamed Emily jumping up and down before
hugging her grandmother and then mother and then even Timmy.
She had never been more excited in her life about to enter the theater to
see her favorite musical, Annie.
Even her brother knew what this meant to her as she'd often dreamed about
going to the show and had watched the video over and over singing in her
room. From chilled to so warm inside he felt seeing the pure joy in her
eyes as she yanked his hand scurrying towards the entrance. Just not
falling on his ass in his little kitten heels was hardly a reward as she
just about pulled his arm from his socket as they hopped on to the line.
He had hated everything about this weekend and all that he had to do but
if it made his sister feel good about herself again then he knew now
without question that wrong as it felt they had all done something right.
Being a little girl again at a lavish musical wasn't something he ever
looked forward to but Annie was a bit more appealing to him than Mary
Poppins as he at least was able to relax more and enjoy the show. It
almost seemed like his grandmother had bought every souvenir they sold at
intermission and his sister was on cloud nine. When the curtain closed,
he looked over seeing tears of joy on the faces of every female in his
family clapping uncontrollably and his tears would appear as well shortly
as his feet were on fire. During those last few blocks back to the hotel
he suddenly wished he was back in the carriage as the low heels and tight
shoes pinched the red toes of his exhausted feet.
It had been a long a day as it had ever known in his young life suddenly
having a breakdown himself when finally they got into the hotel. In the
elevator he stared at the little girl holding hands with his sister
staring at his little sparkling earrings and long hair overtired now
feeling his emotions begin to get the best of him. Those last few steps
when the door dinged open to the room were like he'd just finished a
marathon never happier to jump lying back on the bed even dressed as he
was the moment they entered the room.
"Julianna, your dress," yelled his mother. "Are you kidding! You'll rip
it."
"Easy Felicity. It's fine! The kids are exhausted and she's been
amazing," said his grandmother calming her.
"I know but that material is delicate," said Felicity scolding. "I know
you spent a fortune on that dress let alone the crazy money on everything
else."
"You just get Julianna in the tub and I'll help Emmie," said their
grandmother. "There is no price on my granddaughter's happiness."
"I'm ready Nana," said Emily already in her pajamas. "Please I can't
wait. I'm ready!"
"Emmie, you sure?" said her mother. "Honey you could wear..?"
"No mom! I want it perfect," said Emily. "It means everything to me."
"Emmie, I bought them," said her grandmother. "It's no big deal."
"Nana, you told me you bought everything else too right?" said Emily
folding her arms. "I ready and you promised!"
"I did," smiled her grandmother nodding. "I'll get everything ready."
"Come on honey," said their mother pulling off Timmy's shoes and tights.
"Let's get you cleaned up and ready for bed. I'm sure you're dying to
get all this off."
Timmy was half asleep as she pulled off his dress and unsnapped his
extensions. Within a quick minute he was inside the tub lying back as
his mother shampooed his hair and washed his body.
After a two minute break in came his grandmother who she globed his face
in a smelly cold cream and then filled his hair with a thick conditioner.
He sat back grossed out yet tired resting in the bubbles happy the stress
of the day had ended almost falling asleep in the big warm tub. When a
half hour passed with him enjoying the soak, his grandmother now returned
pulling the plug and rinsing his head and face.
With the long day seemingly over, he was never happier to have a night
gown dropped over his head. When he walked back into the bedroom with
his head wrapped in a towel, it was like his sister was awaiting licking
her chops with her hair in one his grandmother's kerchiefs. He'd be way
too exhausted to put up much of a fight anyway and what more could she
even want from him at ten o'clock at night.
It was like the little devil in the red Annie pajamas horns had gone up
when she saw him and then he saw a case filled with pink and orange
plastic looking corkscrews.
"Sit honey and this will be quick and then you can get your rest," said
his grandmother pulling out the chair. "You did so well and I know
you're tired."
"Ok," slumped Timmy sitting on the desk chair as immediately his sister
pulled the towel from his hair and began combing away from his face.
"But can't this day be over Nana?"
"Yes as soon as I fix you for tomorrow sissy," said Emily seemingly not
tired at all.
"Just close your eyes and chill honey," said his mother. "You'll be
asleep in ten minutes if you just let them do what they need to do."
He was no mood to argue anyway and it would do him no good as a few
silver pins sectioned his hair off his face and sides as his grandmother
worked in the back with his sister.
"OK dear," said his grandmother instructing. "We'll start here at the
nape with the rest of your hair clipped out of the way all you do is
take a small section of hair approximately half an inch or so just like I
did yours. Spray it, give it a quarter turn twist, and holding the
handle higher than the hook, slip the twisted section into the hook. Now
use your thumb and index finger to squeeze open the end of the Curlformer
and just draw the hook through the back and walla! When it dries the
curls will look gorgeous."
"You kidding," moaned Timmy turning looking at his sister and then
glancing over at the mound of curls on the nightstand that had just been
unclipped from his head. "Curl what? Again? Didn't you just take them
out?"
"It's nothing honey and it saves us time in the morning," said his
grandmother putting one in his hand. "They're not uncomfortable and
you'll sleep in them without knowing a thing."
"Oh great?" gulped Timmy feeling them work through next section and then
hearing the spray behind his head. "Just hurry up please."
After each section, the misting stopped as he just sat as there was not
much he could do but bide his time as in went the next Curlformer and
then the next. For the next ten minutes he sat as his sister enjoyed
setting his hair in the little pink corkscrews until she'd covered his
entire head. All he could do was watch tv trying not to worry about the
enviable next day in curls and then watched his mother strap a plastic
tunnel looking tube to the end of her hair dryer and then slip a plastic
cap over his Curlformer filled head. Without notice he found himself
inside an air driven bonnet as it drowned out most of the sound of his
cartoons as he watched while the hot air removed the dampness from his
head. After only one part of a half hour episode, the air was switched
off before he found himself being wrapped in a kerchief and switching
places with his sister as under the bonnet dryer she went while his
grandmother pulled back the covers.
Thankfully he instead was being tucked into bed as this second day as the
little sister had finally come to a close with only one little princess
day left he couldn't wait for it to end. It really wasn't that
uncomfortable sleeping with the Curlformers secured on his head as
exhaustion had the better of him anyway as he was quickly out like a
light. He was fast asleep before his sister would join him seemingly on
cloud nine as before long her day was over as well.
"Wake up honey," said his mother softly shaking him. "Your sister is
already bouncing off the wall so if I don't get you up in a minute then I
think she'll kill all of us."
"I bet," grinned Timmy rubbing his eyes and then stretching as his mother
pulled off the sheets.
He looked over now seeing his sister sitting at the desk chair having
some makeup applied by the grandmother figuring that might also shortly
be his fate. He sat up now watching some morning cartoons as it was nice
having breakfast in bed as his mother lifted a tray across his legs.
Eating some eggs and cereal without much hassle was an unexpected treat
but that treat would be soon over as soon as he would be finished.
"Oh Nanna," said Emily feeling her hair as her grandmother was pulling
out the Curlformers. "I feel it springing right back. How does it look?
Is it perfect?"
"Patience honey," said her grandmother continuing to pull them out.
"They're holding beautifully. It'll take some getting used to and I
admit I was a little nervous about trimming so much but I think you're
going to look perfect today."
"Hurry up," squealed Emily overly excited. "I have to run and see them.
I just have to."
With his grandmother standing in his way he really couldn't see the rear
view of her head but pretty much already knew they'd both be debuting
curly styles this morning as his sister raced into the bathroom the
second his grandmother had finished.
"Ok, Julianna," said his grandmother pushing him back and he knew the
drill as she diapered him. "Let's get rolling dear."
"Yes Nana," grumbled Timmy as quickly he'd been wiped and changed.
"Now come sit. You're turn honey unless you want to stay in my kerchief
all day," said his grandmother patting the chair.
"Well maybe if it means I get to stay in the room," joked Timmy coming
over and sitting down.
"Not happening honey and we're already checked out," said his mother
walking by. "But just say the word and I'm sure Nana will come over next
weekend and set you hair at home if you want to sit around like that."
"No that's ok," Smirked Timmy as they untied his kerchief pulling it off.
"The little sister is ready for her last day of action."
"Not yet she isn't so don't rush me sweetie," teased his grandmother as
he felt the first curl spring against his neck as she pulled out the
Curlformer. "But wow these also seem to be holding so nicely. Your hair
holds a curl even better than your sisters."
"Fantastic?" grumbled Timmy feeling the next curl pull back.
"But let's not mention that," said his grandmother unrolling. "You know
how she is. She'll have me re-curling her entire head and maybe yours
two."
"You're right about that," Nodded Timmy. "My lips are sealed Nana."
It didn't take too long for her to pull out all the Curlformers and
before he could complain too much she was brushing on some makeup. He
sat like the delicate princess sucking in his cheeks on command as the
blush brushes glided across his cheek bones and then closed his eyes as
she wished while he felt the applicator slide over and over across his
lids. When she allowed him to open his eyes for the first time a lash
curler annoyingly clamped down on him and then her mascara wand ever so
carefully stroked continuously across his lashes. He hated the sight of
the little lip brush dip into a more red color then he'd seen before as
she ever so carefully paint across his lips.
He'd be more made up this morning than ever before as he thought for a
moment that maybe it would be easier to be in pigtails stuck in the
carriage. That today though wouldn't be an option as she now took a pick
in combination with her fingers fussing with his curls. Separating,
yanking and spraying ever so carefully was almost like water torture as
she pulled at some little sections until finally she stepped back
checking her work.
"How cute are you Julianna?" said his grandmother nodding and pulling off
his nightgown. "Come on let's hurry to dress you unless you expect to be
here in your pampers when the bell hop arrives for our bags."
"Ok," said Timmy as he sat on the end of the bed as his grandmother
quickly slid on some socks.
She then pushed him back for a moment lifting his backside as down his
legs slide some ruffly white bloomers. Once she snugged them up, she
slid on some shoes and then buckled them across his ankles before helping
him to his feet standing.
"Hands up honey," said his grandmother dropping a dress over his head and
in an instant it was on him as she zipped up the back.
"Didn't we see this yesterday?" said Timmy confused looking down at
himself as he stepped into a large ruffled panty that she pulled up under
his dress.
"Yup and today will be even more fun sissy," said Emily hurrying out of
the bathroom. "Don't you just love it?"
Timmy was completely confused as he looked at his sister and then himself
dressed identically just like last night's main character. Both he and
his sister now were in bright red dresses with white trimming along the
short sleeves, waist and collar. The red dress was made of soft velour
and had a slightly pinched in elastic back waist band hidden below the
white silk sash around the mid-section. At his neck, the white satin
round Peter Pan collar delivered a precious look to the dress and
perfectly matched the white satin sleeve cuffs. On his feet white
ruffled ankle socks poked out of his black buckled Mary Janes shoes but
what would be more stunning than his outfit would be the curly locks on
their heads.
Once he got over himself in the character Annie outfit, it was hard to
believe the girl dressed identically to him was still his sister with her
dramatically changed hairdo.
He took a few steps forward toward his sister doing a double take as he
reached up touching her now short curly hair. Instantly he realized that
gone were her much longer locks replaced now with a curly bob and
instantly knew they probably matched his. It was stunning enough she'd
cut her hair shorter but even more so that the Curlformers had resulted
in such springing electric red curls. He hurried past her now just to
get a glimpse in the bathroom mirror and then almost couldn't believe his
eyes as stared stunned pulling at his head filled with identical Irish
red corkscrew curls.
"It's just some curls and a rinse honey," said his mother seeing his fear
as they heard a knock on the door. "It'll all wash out and just
intensifies your pretty red just a bit."
He was dying as he stared at his face with shinny pinkish red lips and
much bigger thick curled lashes almost not believing this entire image.
Nice rosy cheeks and a hint of pink glimmer on his lids only made him
stare deeper as he shook his head of soft tussled short curls repulsed at
how they sprung right back in place. He was dressed identically to the
Annie character in the play like some bad Halloween joke except there was
no Halloween in the spring and then it really sunk in that every other
outfit had been packed away.
"Time to leave the orphanage my Annies," teased their grandmother as he
turned seeing the bellhop finish loading their back on his cart.
Down the elevator they went and outside through the city. The curly
haired costumed Annie's found themselves right back where they were the
night before at the theater heading back inside.
"Again?" moaned Timmy. "She loved it that much that we had to get this
dressed up for it and see it all over again?"
"Not exactly honey," said his grandmother.
"This is a little different and for sister only," said his mother.
"Like this they'll think we're twins," said Emily hugging Timmy. "But
don't get any crazy ideas Julianna. I'm still the big sister if anyone
asks."
"Sure you can be a few minutes older," teased their mother. "And
congratulations Julianna you just grew up a little."
"Very funny! Like it matters?" grumbled Timmy rolling his eyes before his
grandmother shot him a nasty look. "I mean sure anything for big sis."
"Good girl," said grandmother as face grow stern. "Let's not have some
sudden burst of nasty primadonna behavior on our last day in the city
please."
"Yes Nana," said Timmy nodding and looking around as they were now inside
the theater area. "Wait? What is this?"
"Ssshhh honey," said his grandmother squeezing his hand. "It's open
auditions. Now please keep your voice down in here sweetie."
"Auditions?" moaned Timmy quietly to himself feeling his body tense up in
fear.
They're be no stopping the nervous rush into his pants now as he looked
around seeing a good twenty or thirty girls dressed as Annie scattered
around the theater. A few were lined up near the steps to the stage and
others were already seated in front. Behind him even more seemed to be
forming a line as they stepped up to a desk area situated between the
refreshments and the back of the mezzanine seats.
"Hi, this is Emily O'Rourke for her audition," said their mother to a
woman with a clipboard.
"Wonderful and good morning Emily. I'm Mrs. Rosen one of the producers,"
said an older woman looking at her watch. "You're early. We like that.
Please take a seat and we'll be calling you in about twenty minutes."
"Thank you Mrs. Rosen," said Emily gracefully as the woman placed a
numerical sticker tag across Emily's left chest area.
"You'll be third this morning in the second group Emily but I don't see
your other daughter on the list Mrs. O'Rourke?" Questioned Mrs. Rosen
flipping some pages. "Let me see if I can squeeze you in honey?"
Timmy's eyes almost bugged out of his head feeling himself shiver as he
realized she was now working on penciling him into to audition.
"No, she's just here to support her sister," said their mother as Timmy
instantly felt a huge sigh of relief.
"Well I love that and I think that's wonderful of you honey to dress up
to support your sister like this," said Mrs. Rosen smiling and jotting
down a note. "What's your name sweetie and I'll note the commitment."
"Julianna," said Timmy shyly.
"Well nice to meet you honey and we wish the O'Rourke family good luck
today ladies!" said Mrs. Rosen.
"Thank you," said their mother as they moved forward taking some seats.
They all sat watching a few auditions now until their grandmother looked
over at Timmy sniffing the air.
"We'll be right back," said their grandmother taking his hand and leading
Timmy away. "Just speak up next time please."
"Sorry I..." started Timmy embarrassed as right into the ladies room she
dragged him.
"It's fine," said his grandmother pulling them inside the handicap stall
and pulling down the changing table. "Nana was prepared and hopefully
once we get you back home we'll be past all this young lady?"
"Nana, of course we will," moaned Timmy getting really upset as she
placed him lying back on it. "Today's the last day and you know I'll be
fine."
"I guess we'll see about that then?" said his grandmother pulling down
his bloomers and quickly opening the wet mess.
"See about what?" cried Timmy as she wiped him and then lifted him out of
the diaper. "What does that mean?"
"Enough please! I thought we were past this too but good thing I took
precautions," said his grandmother quickly dropping him atop the new
diaper lathering him in Balmax before closing it up. "Now just hush
because I'm not missing her audition because you were being a brat!
Please let's not be selfish Julianna!"
"Yes Nana," said Timmy turning red as she pulled up his bloomers and
dropped him to the floor.
They hurried back in plenty of time seeing his sister lined up at the
stage and then moved down towards the front to get a good seat as she
awaited her turn. When she got up there, his mother and grandmother were
beaming as she acted out a few lines flawlessly knowing every word by
heart. She needed no cue cards or instruction like most of the kids and
then when it was her turn to sing belted out notes like he'd never heard
from her in his life.
Whether she got the part of not, she had just lived out her dream to be
Annie on stage and loved every second of it. She was Annie even if as
only for the moment and when she came down off stage she was beaming like
never before. She sat back down as they all watched and listened to
another two hours of auditions amazed at the talent that actually filled
the theater. Slowly but sure families were called over by the producers
and directors as from afar they watched the disappointment on so many
faces as they departed. They had made it to the last half dozen people
as they sat stunned that Emily had gotten so far and then finally Mrs.
Rosen came their way.
"So Mrs. O'Rourke, can I have a minute with you and your family," said
Mrs. Rosen as they followed her to the area with a group of production
staff.
"Of course," said Felicity as they all followed.
They all followed now nervously and sat curiously staring at the group.
"So Emily, you did very well but unfortunately you didn't get the part,"
said Mrs. Rosen.
"Oh, ok," said Emily disappointed. "But I did good though right?"
"Of course and you're very young. In fact one of the younger girls we
let audition," said Mrs. Rosen looking at the chart. "We believe though
with the right lessons, some experience and a bit more maturity though
that you have a great potential."
"Really?" said Emily perking up batting her lashes as her eyes grew wide.
"Yes and I love the dedication doing your hair just like the character
plus your sister's support," said Mrs. Rosen. "That says a lot
especially when you combine that with your talent."
"Well that's encouraging than for the future Emmie," said her grandmother
rubbing her back.
"Actually it is and we'll be inviting you for future closed auditions,"
said Mrs. Rosen handing them a packet. "Here's is a school we recommend
that could help develop your talents and inside is our letter which would
grant you a spot. It's very exclusive."
"And expensive," said Felicity swallowing hard seeing the price tag and
the commitment. "But I'll take this home and discuss this with my
husband. I'm just not so sure we could afford that and juggle our other
children. Plus as you can see I've got a new baby on the way."
"I understand and that's the family price," said Mrs. Rosen. "You see at
Emily's age there are so many rules about the amount of hours she can
spend in production and working but if we use her twin to do some of the
acting and dance routines then I believe we could possibly use the girls
in one of our upcoming off Broadway productions."
"Oh she's not really a twin Mrs. Rosen," said their mother. "So that
just won't do."
"You kidding?" said Mrs. Rosen. "I can barely tell the difference
sitting five feet from them so once our makeup artists make them up
before the shows I'd challenge even you to tell them apart."
"Thank you anyway Mrs. Rosen but my sissy is not an actress like me but
she is the best sister any girl could have," said Emily standing up and
putting out her hand. "I'll study hard wherever my parents tell me they
can afford and come back to audition again when I'm older."
"What a mature little girl you have here!" smiled Mrs. Rosen softly
shaking Emily's hand. "You should be proud."
"We are," said their grandmother. "Of both our girls. You're production
will be lucky if you ever get them to work for you."
"I would bet you're right about that ladies," smiled Mrs. Rosen. "It was
a pleasure meeting all of you."
They walked outside and back to the valet at the hotel retrieving the
mini-van heading back to New Jersey. At least now Timmy didn't have to
sit in a toddler seat as the two Annie's sat in the back seat headed for
home as his sister reached over touching his hand.
"Thank you Timmy," said Emily squeezing gently. "Thanks for everything
and Nana says I can have your extensions since I might have gotten
carried away cutting my hair but for me it was worth it."
"All yours and you called me Timmy again?" said Timmy breathing a sigh of
relief. "Thanks."
"Yes, I love you," said Emily swinging their hands playfully. "Julianna
was the best sister ever and you made my birthday weekend so special."
"Then you feel much better now?" said Timmy looking at their red nails
interlocked. "No more worries about a little brother ok?"
"Yup I'm good now but it doesn't mean I won't miss Julianna," said Emily
with a smile. "Won't you be missing being her?"
"Well?" Started Timmy seeing the sad expression on her face.
"It's ok. You don't need to be embarrassed," said Emily looking into his
eyes. "We'll just keep how much you liked this weekend as our little
secret and I'm expecting she'll be back again if ever I need her right?"
Alternate ending - email me or comment on which you like please!
"You serious?" said Timmy stunned as his mother's and grandmother's head
quickly swiveled looking back at them.
"Emily, why don't we talk about that some other time?" said her mother
pulling over the car. "Everyone is exhausted."
"Ssssshhhh?" said his grandmother giving him a look. "And it's ok for
sisters or family to have little secrets. Now just nap on the ride home
please."
With ten minutes they were both asleep and then before they knew it they
were back at home pulling up in the driveway. It was dark as they
wandered in hand in hand with their grandmother as Timmy was never more
relived to shortly be out of his diaper and dress. He was never happier
to have his life back to normal that next Monday for school like nothing
ever happened except he was now a cool kid in school with pierced ears as
his mother changed them to a basic silver stud.
His sister started her private lessons in the school Mrs. Rosen
recommended with the help of their grandmother paying the tuition as once
again there was nothing she wouldn't do for her grandchildren. Mrs.
Rosen was also true to her word getting Emily quite a few auditions as
their grandmother brought her everywhere with their mother growing more
pregnant and bigger by the day now.
For the next few months everything was fairly normal yet hectic and then
finally their father returned home just in time for the birth of the baby
who was due any day now as the doorbell rang.
"Mrs. Rosen, what a pleasant surprise," said Felicity opening the door.
"Please come in and this is my husband Tim."
"Wonderful to meet you," said Mrs. Rosen shaking hands. "Could we talk
and is Emily home?"
"Sure, Emmie," Called her mother as she came scrambling down.
"Oh hi Mrs. Rosen," said Emily with a big smile.
"So I thought I'd stop by because this is breaking news," said Mrs.
Rosen. "We're casting for Atlanta, Phoenix and Orlando which open in six
months and well... we're interested in Emily as Annie for one of the
roles."
"Wow, my mommy's grandparents live in Florida," smiled Emily. "I do like
it there."
"Wait, are you asking us to uproot?" said Tim. "To move there for
Emily."
"Well, yes. We'd pay all moving expenses plus help you find a new home
and sell this one," said Mrs. Rosen taking out some forms. "It's my
understanding you're mostly away with the military so your family is open
to that? Was I misinformed about that?"
"Emmie run upstairs so we can have grown up talk please," said her mother
shoeing her away.
"Yes mommy," said Emily running upstairs excited.
"Of course you weren't misinformed?" said their grandmother coming in.
"You told her that mom?" said Tim.
"Yes and it's true," said his mother. "There are really no ties here in
New Jersey except me and where my grandchildren go then I go."
"It would be a three year contract to play Annie and we'd pay for private
schools," said Mrs. Rosen. "For both girls."
"Well the new baby is a boy but..." Started their father as Felicity
grabbed his arm.
"Hoolllyyy shit," yelled Felicity holding her stomach with the other
hand. "Tiiimmm.. it's time. Oh my gawwddddd."
"Kids get down here," yelled their father. "I think your mother just
went into labor and we've gotta go."
"Dad, we need a few minutes," yelled Emily.
"No, get down here now!" screamed their father.
"But dad?" yelled Timmy. "I'm doing something for Emily."
"Holy crap her water just broke!" screamed their father. "Kids! Right
now!"
"I'm so sorry. I hope I didn't put too much stress on you Felicity,"
said Mrs. Ro
