like anurag just for today."
"Listen you need to understand it's already been four months since you
are wearing girl's attire you have long hair long nails then tell me
how can you wear boys clothes so suddenly and go out."
"I know mom that's why please let me cut my hair and nails short
atleast till the time Anurag is here."
"Yes,and then let you ruin what I have achieved in past four
months,forget about Anurag he is here for few weeks only I am sure he
will adapt after some initial shocks.
"Few weeks," I gulped.
Mom takes about half an hour everyday to dress me up to make ready for
the day.
After the bath mom first make me wear the feminine undergarments a pair
of panties and then the bra.
She then leads me into her room where I usually slip in the selected
outfit for the day. I am now mostly made to wear salwar kameez or
lehenga choli and if sometimes I am lucky mom let's me wear women's
jeans along with a suitable kurti or top.
Today's selected outfit was laid on bed, it was a pink crop top along
with a floral lehenga and beside them were a pair of anklet and a few
multicoloured bangles.
"Mom please I request you bare me from these anklets and bangles they
are so uncomfortable wearing,moreover the voice they generate is so
irritating and annoying I feel like a maid and also it will be so
humiliating to wear them in front of Anurag."
"See I have listened to enough complaints for today and let me make
make it clear to you the more complain you make the more feminine
things I will make you wear,these additions are result of your previous
insistence on wearing boy clothes," mom retorted.
I gulped and fearing not to anger mom more I quickly wore the lehenga
and then the top.
That was followed by quick sliding of bangles on both my hands by mom
four on each hand she then told me to keep my feet stable so that she
could tie the anklets on each feet properly.
Mom then started braiding my hair,she first brushes them to smoothen
the knots and tangles in my hair then starts braiding them.
It's a painful process because in order to make my hair more braidable
she repeatedly brushes them with sheer force ignoring all my screams
Trying to cope with the pain I got lost in thoughts mostly thinking
what Anurag might think of me now,seeing that mom patted my head
instructing me to see how she braids my hair and learn it.
She then gathered my hair at top of my head and divided it in three
sections and braided them in blink of seconds sliding one section over
the other I was still confused on how did she did that but what
resulted was a perfectly braided pigtail.
Seeing that in mirror with all the outfit I was wearing I blushed.
After mom was done with me she went into kitchen and bought some
unpeeled peas in a bowl.
"Nandini today we must treat Anurag with a tasty meal and I have
decided to cook Matar Paneer, the dish must be flawless, I want him to
really relish it, so work hard accordingly."
She is treating me as some kind of a maid I thought to myself and
nodded to her.
Then as instructed by mom I quickly placed an old newspaper beneath the
bowl and started peeling the peas.
I had never really peeled any pea before so I abruptly started tearing
the outer skin,watching that from kitchen window mom quickly came back
and started showing me how to do it properly.
"To peal properly, you should tear the stem backwards and pull it down
along the indented side," mom corrected.
Here I was submitting to mom and helping her with silly chores while my
cousin Anurag was enjoying his vacations the most playing cricket with
the boys I hope he has kept my predicament a secret.
I could see him laughing, cheering and swinging my bat from the window
As mom and I were peeling the peas Anurag returned home, he looked very
tired and sweaty seeing him almost immediately mom raised an eyebrow
instructing me to bring water and snacks.
I then obediently left the half pealed pea on the newspaper and quickly
went into kitchen to bring water,I was obviously hating to have become
so submissive but I had no other choice as I knew mom expect such
things from me now.
The glasses in the kitchen were all dirty and were in sink, so I
started soaking one of the glasses to prepare it to wash, as I started
scrubbing it the bangles on my hand had irritating sounds coming out of
them,I seriously felt like a maid now, mom surely must be relishing
these sounds I thought to myself.
I was done washing the glass now, I knew mom was about to get restless
so I quickly filled the glass from RO and put it on the tray,then
searched on for snacks relentlessly.
A hide and seek biscuit packet was what I found which I had saved for
myself, fearing another call from mom I sacrificed it putting more than
half of the biscuits on the plate which I then put on the tray.
Grabbing it all I quickly headed back to the living room where both
Anurag and mom were.
As soon as I reached there I placed the tray on the decorative wooden
table of our living room beside which Anurag was sitting comfortably on
the couch and on his lap was mom seeing me she quickly stood and sat on
stool beside the couch.
I was confused as well as shocked why was she sitting like that I
thought to myself.
Sensing questions all over my face mom immediately replied, "Look
something was on his eye so I was helping him with that."
I knew she was lying I myself saw her chuckling while sitting on his
lap and not doing anything with his eye.
But I dropped the topic not asking any questions.
Mom then ordered me to serve snacks to Anurag to which I complied
helding the tray in front him,I was too ashamed to make an eye contact
with him.
Obviously because there was he wearing a sports jersey sweating and all
while I was wearing such a shameful outfit.
"Wow You look like Alia bhat."
Saying that he burst into laughter to which I felt utter humiliation.
Mom also chuckled covering her mouth with her hand.
"Now now Nandini go and put the pan on fire, I have to teach you
chapatti."
"Nandiniiii hahaha," he again burst into laughter.
Red-faced I quickly headed towards kitchen mom also followed me.
