Writer's Note: Sorry for the delay, the story has taken a bit of a turn
for me, like I said I am letting the characters tell the story, and I
was not ready for where that took me, I still hope to have part three
out sometime in the coming week, but I make no promises. I hope you
enjoy this.
Emma looked down at her new jacket and smiled. She could not wait for
Cathy to see it, it made her feel different, which made her feel good.
She had been in the dumps since Erica and Billie had joined their group
and seemed to have taken some of Cathy's time, with this new jacket she
was certain she would get her attention again. Her and Lavina were
looking around for a place to kill time when they ran into someone
Lavina thought looked familiar.
"Oh hello," Francine said, "are you interested in hearing about the good
lord?" It was Francine, the girl that way back when Lavina first tried
out the car wash had been turned from some annoyed into a very religious
person. Since she had changed her grades had gone up and she could not
figure out why they had ever been bad in the first place. She had lost
touch with her mentor Amanda after that day but the church she had come
upon had excepted her with open arms. Her hair was a bit longer, and
closer to her natural brown color than the black it had been before but
Lavina finally recognized her.
"It's okay, we are not interested," Emma spoke up, she hadn't spoken in
a long time she felt, but this new coat, it gave so much confidence.
"No, let me at least give you the small rundown." Francine was not going
to take no for an answer, she had learned from her pastor that most
people do want to be saved, they just need a little push. She constantly
regretted letting Amanda get away before she could save her, and this
young girl right here reminded her of Amanda.
"I said no," this time Emma made sure she emphasized no, realizing that
she was not going to take it for an answer she looked up at Lavina and
gestured to her device. Lavina was interested to see what would happen
if she changed her again, by her knowledge she had only changed a few
people multiple times, so more data would be useful. She looked down at
the device and tried to pull up her old information, she had never
attempted that, but she was hopeful the information would be there. It
was, which she was not really surprised about strangely.
She really wanted to see what would happen so she just put in the old
data.
As she finished it, with Emma holding on, Franky just slouched a bit,
all at once her expression changed from very happy to quite uncaring.
She just looked down at the bible in her hand and you would swear she
was a vampire how much she wanted to get it out of her hand. She looked
over at Lavina and Emma, gave them the bird and walked away. She needed
a smoke, it felt like she hadn't had one in a long time, "and where the
fuck is my jacket," she thought.
Elsewhere Mandy was sitting in her house just listening to some music
wearing that very jacket.
"Maybe we should just head to the food court and mess around," Lavina
suggested, it sounded fun to Emma so she agreed.
Lex left the booth with the two tickets for Black Panther, he had to
admit he was kind of excited, he hadn't been on a date with Samantha in
a while, and knew this was just what she needed. He walked by a few
people she was frankly surprised to be there, a few preps from school
who she could hear talking.
"I still have no idea why we have these tickets, I don't remember
ordering them," one said to the other, "and right when they went on sale
too."
Samantha looked over at those two, she knew they had been nerds sometime
in his memory so she was happy to see some more proof of the world
having changed. Since last night when offered the chance to go out with
Lex on a date again, she had made sure she had looked nice. Now looking
at Lex in just a simple shirt, she feels like she overdressed a bit in
some of her nice clothes, but a date is a date, and she was not going to
come looking bad even if she felt like a stranger in his own body.
They got into the theater and they both looked up and groaned, sitting
up near the back was Cathy and her gang. Samantha looked over at Billie
and lamented the fact that she had changed somehow, and she still had no
idea who Erica was. Samantha and Lex took a sear right behind those two
preps who seemed to never want to shut, talking about how much was going
as loud as they could, and settled in. Just then those two had to shake
their heads.
Kim looked up and said hi to them, they then started to discuss the
movie a bit which confused Samantha. "Oh god, it's happening again."
Samantha looked up to see if there was any sign of what just happened,
she looked around, the theater was getting packed, everyone was talking
to themselves including Cathy and her gang. Samantha then focused a bit
on Cathy, she had Erica and Billie looking at something on her wrist,
that was strange and in a theater full of nothing out of the ordinary it
really stood out.
"That should shut those two up, never want to hear their stupid preppy
voices again," Cathy looked away from those two preps that seemed to
show up around them a lot and went back to talking to Billie and Erica.
"So here is the deal, I am going to make it so you both know how to work
this device, then Erica, you are going to take it, and make it so
anything Lavina has put in me will be taken out. I want you both to know
I am doing this, then I want you to make sure I know it is happening."
Billie and Erica agreed and Cathy set about putting the information in.
One small shake of the head later (a thing that Samantha watching,
caught they did, just like everyone who had a change) and Erica was
asking for the device.
"Are you sure you want to be free Cathy; your sis might have done more
than you know?" Cathy was ready and nodded her head, she took Erica's
arm, along with Kim's and Billie's and had her take what Lavina had done
to her away.
Cathy just froze for a moment, all she could get out was a little yelp.
She remembered everything, the bullying by Reese, the knocking him out,
adding Billie to the group, turning Eaton into a woman, and most of all
her new attitude. She shuddered and was horrified, what had she done?
She looked up at Erica, poor Erica, she had done so much bad to this
poor man, and for what, so she could feel good? It made her sick, and it
scared her to death. It was then she realized she had been happy for the
first time ever after being changed, she needed to get some fresh air.
"I...um I need to get some fresh air, I didn't even think about this,
can you make it so I know how to use the device again Erica, please?"
"Please?! Okay Cathy, so what do you think about Lavina now?" Erica was
very interested to see Cathy's response, there was something different
about her, but she could not put her finger on it.
A few rows down, Lex looked up and seem quite sad. "What's wrong Lex, I
thought you were happy to see this movie?" Samantha asked.
"It's just, I see Cathy up there, and I feel bad for her, you know, how
did such a sweet girl end up in a crowd that rowdy?"
Another change had just taken place, and this time Samantha was not
going to let it go, she was ready to go up to talk to that group herself
when she saw Cathy run out of the theater. That made it easier for
Samantha really, she would just excuse herself and go talk to Cathy.
After having the ability to use the device returned to her, she took it
back then said she needed to get fresh air, which she did. She got
outside the mall and just sat down, suddenly she felt something in her
pocket, a pack of cigarettes and some lighter with Kim's initials on it.
She took one out lit up, and started to cough. That's right she thought,
that was added by Lavina, was it Lavina, she didn't remember Lavina
being anywhere near that bus that day, so she looked down at the device
and sadly entered in a few pieces of information and took another, more
satisfying drag of the cigarette, she needed to calm down right now, and
she knew cigarettes did it.
"Hey you okay?" Cathy looked up and it was Samantha.
Meanwhile Emma and Lavina were just killing time, whether it was turning
the haughty manager into a simple cashier or turning another bible
thumper, they were out in force today, to another hateful goth, they
were having a good time, neither had any idea that their girlfriend, or
apprentice was falling away from them.
