Then she said she was really upset with the way I talked to her and she felt very bad as it was not her fault. I apologized and said I will compensate for that. She didn’t say anything and just smiled. I went to my cousin’s place to attend the wedding.
After 6 or 7 days I called her up on her cell. She was at work but not very busy so didn’t mind talking to me. She asked me about the wedding (as I had told her I needed the camera for the wedding). She made a joke if I found someone, or had any fun in the wedding. I was surprised a bit by the question though, but I replied ‘no’, as it was a dry wedding, didn’t have much fun indeed. Even the Basor raat (the night after wedding – is usually a good fun as girls and boys from both sides enjoy the night joking, singing… its a fun) was very cool. I asked about her, she was trying to avoid the question. I asked if she was married. She hesitatingly replied she was single. I had some doubts though, I didn’t ask her again. While disconnecting she said she liked talking to me and I can call her again. I was happy to hear that, having no idea what going to come.
I again called her after couple of days, but this time I called her in the evening. She was at home. We talked nicely on various things. She again raised the the topic of my thrashing her for the camera. I again apologized and asked her what compensation does she want. She said it should be decided by me. I said OK how about a coffee. She accepted it as a joke. But I said I was serious. She started turning around, by saying that it was not my fault, anyone would have done the same, and it was her job to provide me good service. bla bla.. So finally nothing was finalized. But our friendship stated growing.
After a few days I again called her from a number that was unknown to her. I changed my voice and tone, and said I got her number from a friend and want to buy some electronic gadgets in good quantity. She asked me come to her shop. I said no I don’t have time. Then she said she will send a sales person to my office. I said no you yourself will have to come. She said but where is your office. I said let us meet in a coffee shop and we will discuss about it there. I could feel that she was getting nervous.
She didnt say anything for a while and I suddenly heard a man’s voice. It was her colleague. I disconnected the line and called her up again from my cell. She responded. By the time she had stated guessing that it was me fooling her. She said “was that you?” I asked “who are you talking about?” She said she knows it was me only. I didn’t accept that it was me and kept on kidding for some time and then suddenly I said why did you give the line to someone else? You could have met him and earned good incentive.
She now understood it was me who called her, otherwise how would I know that she passed the line to someone else. We laughed a lot. I said you had become very nervous indeed. She said her legs were shaking with fear and at the same time she was very angry too as she found it an indecent proposal. We laughed and made jokes on this, I teased her. She kept cursing me as well for doing this to her. Finally I again apologized and asked her for an evening in a coffee shop. She didn’t accept though but said she will let me know.
We kept talking on phone for a few more times. One day I asked her about the coffee again. She accepted at once this time (as if she was waiting for me to ask for it once more). We fixed up a date, time and venue.
The first twist came on the day we were supposed to meet. We were supposed to meet in the evening. She called up in the after-noon, asked about the location, and how to reach there. I explained her. Then with a pause she said I want you to know something about me. I asked her what it was. She said “I am a widow since last 5 years”. Though it was a bit of shock for me, but I didn’t let her understand that and said “So what?”. She said she just wanted to let me know whom I was going to meet. I said its not a problem because we are good friends.
Then she came in the evening to the coffee shop. The shop was crowded. We got a table, ordered coffee, started talking. I asked her why did you call me up to say that you were a widow. She again said she wanted me know before meeting her. I asked her what had happened to her husband. She said he was sick and doctors could not detect the problem. And he expired suddenly. Then she suddenly started crying. I was trying to console her.
I put a hand on her arms and consoled her. It was getting a little embarrassing too, as all people were looking at us. She realised that and stopped crying. We changed the topic. I had bought a new mobile and showed her the features… Then we left. We departed at the bus stop. Before leaving she asked me to keep in touch and call her again and thanked me for the evening as well as the friendship.
Few months passed away, we talked in phone once in a while. One day she called me and asked me to gather come information about a place. I gathered the information, it was an address that I had to give her. I called her back to give her the details. So that she doesn’t make a mistake in writing the address I was representing each word with a letter, like A for apple… Then when the letter “L” came I said ” L for Lover”.
Her voice suddenly changed and she seemed excited and said with a loud voice “what?” I again said “L for Lover” and started laughing. She said “Youuuuuuu” she also started laughing. This time I heard a different voice that seemed excited and much more sexy. Never the less I realised it had an effect on me as well. First time I was having a different feeling towards her and I was sure she too was feeling the same. Then I changed the topic as both of us were at work. When I was about to disconnect the call she complained that I don’t call her often these days. I said its because I am very busy and work extended hours.
