Lloyd waited for at the station, his girlfriend had kindly dropped him
off, the weather, even though it was October in England had kindly
stayed dry, the ticket machine kindly gave him the tickets work had
booked and he was interrupting his Sunday, again!, to head off to a 2
day meeting in Glasgow starting early on the Monday.
He checked the reservation and saw Coach A, seat 34 (table), great he
thought, I can get the laptop out and watch a film or TV to while away
the two and a half hour journey. His was the final pick up point it
would now go non-stop to Glasgow.
The coach was half full and designated a quiet coach so he'd need to use
his headphones. No problem he had just got some Bluetooth wireless over
ear Bose cans so all was good.
He greeted the bloke sat opposite and settled down. The coach seemed to
be the usual mix of weekenders returning home and business people
heading out for the following week.
Despite his good intentions due to a couple of bottles of beer, taken
earlier, he soon fell asleep.
He awoke after about half an hour when the train hit some badly
maintained points. From the fog of sleep he took in his surroundings.
Opposite him was sat a middle aged lady in a woollen dress, she was
reading Cosmopolitan, she smiled in amusement at him awakening from his
slumber.
"You were away with the faeries there, this is the quiet coach no
snoring permitted," she said, obviously kidding him on.
"Sorry, long day, long evening meal," Lloyd replied. "Good evening I'm
Lloyd, you on business or pleasure?"
"Hi I'm Samantha, call me Sam. Work tomorrow, stealing part of my
Sunday." Sam extended her hand.
"Nice to meet you," said Lloyd. "Snap, at least they bung me some cash
in compensation.
Samantha went back to reading her magazine
Lloyd looked around the coach. All the other passengers were women. A
little unusual, he thought but not impossible, come in the quiet coach
makes sense.
Then it occurred to him that as they set off he was opposite a male and
not Sam, but there had been no stops. This confused him and his puzzled
face attracted her attention.
"You are looking a little unsettled are you OK?" she enquired.
"No, well it's just that errm-"
"I think I know what's up. I don't recognise you, have you been in this
coach on a Sunday night before?"
"No, work book the tickets I've been on this train, just in other
coaches." Lloyd was intrigued.
"Aha, that explains it. May I ask are you open minded?" Sam asked
seriously.
"Well I like to think that I am non judgemental," Lloyd replied getting
puzzled but interested.
"Good, I'm going to tell you a secret but I think you may have worked it
out already. This coach has passengers who are mainly men."
"But I'm talking to you and I can see mainly women around us," Lloyd
replied.
"No, you can see people who look like women but are actually men. They
like to dress as women, crossdressers or transvestites use whatever
title you wish." Sam smiled at Lloyd's realisation.
"Well I hadn't worked I out, I was confused when I came around and saw
you there as there couldn't have been any new passengers as the train
doesn't stop again until we get to Glasgow."
"I saw you initially looking puzzled. Are you bothered? I thought you
may have come to join us."
"No I'm not bothered, surprised, intrigued maybe. How has this come
about?"
"Apparently one of our sisters here took the plunge nipped in the toilet
and changed to dressed one night. She reasoned that she was not going to
be disturbed, the other passengers were quiet and she wasn't troubled.
As she got leave to change back before Glasgow another passenger asked
if she'd mind if he joined her next week. After that it just grew word
got around and eventually we did a deal with the train company and
effectively this is a private club coach."
"How did I get in then?" asked Lloyd.
"Honestly don't know, I will check, sorry if this is not what you were
expecting but you don't seem to be too bothered. I won' be offended if
you choose to change coaches."
"No not bothered, live and let live is my motto. The other errum ladies
do look very good and until you've explained I certainly wouldn't have
guessed about you."
"That's a nice compliment thank-you." Another big smile from Sam. "We
help each other and develop our looks together, putting on makeup on a
train is a fraught process but now we know where the smooth track is.
Tonight we're doing a class on walking in heels on a moving train. Every
little helps."
"I presume everyone changes back before arrival then?" asked Lloyd.
"In summer generally that's true but now we have the darker nights one
or two are more adventurous. Including me tonight if I hold my nerve."
"I respect your bravery, I'd be happy to accompany you if it would help,
as long as that doesn't seem like a pick up line."
"Ha thank-you, no offence taken, I'm not that way inclined by the way.
I'm staying at the Blu if that's convenient. A hand to hold over the
cobbles at the station would be nice at least."
"Snap, that's where I'm staying. How will you go on with checking in?"
asked Lloyd.
"Hotel receptions have seen everything before, I haven't had any bother,
room is booked and paid for. Thank you for your concern."
So the journey continued, as promised several passengers were given
lessons on walking in heels, outfits were admired and critiqued and
makeup was applied. Now he knew Lloyd could see some of the girls were
less convincing than others but everyone was happy and comfortable and
that was the important part. Even the conductor had gone part way to
join in by wearing his kilt tonight.
As the train approached the city, most had changed back to male mode
leaving Sam and two others who were very attractive plus one other who
was dressed down as Mrs everyday and was very convincing because of it.
The station was dimly lit, ideal for those who wished to not be noticed.
Lloyd and Sam walked down the platform flanked by their 'club'
colleagues. At the exit goodbyes were made and they turned away for the
short walk to the Blu.
After an uneventful walk apart from a couple of stumbles on one of
Glasgow's famously uneven pavements and when a tramp darted forward to
ask for 'change' where Lloyd had to hold Sam's hand briefly, and just as
quickly disconnected with an uncomfortable smile. At the reception Lloyd
deferred to Sam as a gentleman should.
"Ah, welcome back Ms Davies." The receptionist didn't raise an eyebrow.
"We have your usual room reserved for you 726. One keycard or two?" She
looked at Lloyd.
Sam thanked her and said, "Just the one card thank-you." She waited for
Lloyd to check-in.
"Welcome Mr Franks, you have room 613."
"Thank-you, and goodnight," he responded.
He turned to Sam and said, "Fancy a drink? I could murder a decent
beer."
"I'll take a raincheck on that, I'm tired, been busy all day, maybe
tomorrow night."
"OK no worries, I'll be billy-no-mates at the bar then" he said with a
smile.
"I'm sure you'll cope," Sam replied with a smile.
They entered the lift together and as they reached the 6th floor Sam
turned and kissed Lloyd on the cheek. "Thank-you, my knight in shining
armour. See you tomorrow"
Lloyd, a bit stunned, murmured good night and went to his room. 'What
happened there' he thought.
He dropped his bags in the room and thought, 'I need that drink.'
Several pints of 'heavy' later he returned to his room, it was near to
midnight.
As he pushed the door open there was a note on the floor.
'Lloyd,
Thank-you for looking after me tonight and sorry for surprising you in
the lift. I love the female experience and it seemed the right thing to
do :). Meet me in my room at 7:30 pm tomorrow and do come dressed in
whatever beautiful clothes you have in that bag of yours, I wasn't sure
at first on the train but when I fell against you I felt the suspenders
under your trousers. I look forward to seeing you looking lovely.
