Part 17

Melissa go out for the weekend with some male friends.
Chapter 41 - Mark and Rob
One evening Victoria took a phone call. I was doing the dishes and did
not hear what she was talking about.
"That was Mark of Mark and Rob from the club in Manchester. They have a
dinner that they need to attend with some clients. They think that it
might be better if they had some female company as the clients don't
seem to be that gay friendly and they need the work."
"Why are they phoning you?" That was a dumb question I realised.
"They would like us to be their partners."
"But I can't do that can I. Don't they know anyone else? What about
you and Jess doing it?"
"You can do it and they have tried to think of two other women who would

It was clear that I was going to have to do it. At least I would be

Victoria and I finished work early on Friday and packed for our weekend
away. We headed off for Elbridge just over an hour's drive away. This
would be my longest drive in heels, fairly low ones! We chatted about

Monday's for a bit of peace."
"Have you given and thought to when Mary comes back?"

We had another drink and then went to dinner. The food was excellent
and we chatted about our lives and the changes that I had made. Over
dinner they also briefed us on the function the next evening. There was
a pianist in the piano bar and after dinner we danced several numbers.
I enjoyed it as it gave me the chance to practice as I knew that there
would be a lot of dancing the following evening at the function.
I danced with both the guys and in the very slow dances got close to

could give someone the wrong idea."

Victoria and Rob were dancing so Mark and I sat close and talked in low

away.
Mark looked puzzled. "What was that about?"

We left Mark and Rob, promising that we would see each other again soon

off for home. We had not gone far when I noticed Victoria fidgeting,
"What is wrong with you?" I asked.
