Foreword:
I first began this story on a free site I created. It was a captioned
story line, so the story was woefully condensed due to it being
captioned. I loved the overall story line, which is the reason for in me
bringing it to a greater degree of life via this format.
Join with me as we see Tammy Wallace aka Cindy Williams reflect on her
past year. A year of where; hers, a fake husband that she's come to
love, two beautiful little girls, one having been a friend of many
years, now having their lives turned upside down. I know, this already
sounds a little confusing right? Posing as a typical family, our pseudo-
family is literally running for thier lives, or worse. They are fleeing
an evil powerful group of women known as "Harpies", Tammy's best
friend's psychotic wife, and Ms. Beth.
This story begins as many age regression-transgendered stories, in
respect to our protagonist being magically regressed from a 32-year-old
man into a 4-year-old little girl. She shares this distinction with
another victim in our story, that ends up being her 7-year-old sister.
The TG age regression actually plays a small part in our story, with the
rest of our story being filled with intrigue, action, the strength of
the human spirit to persevere in adversity, and of course loyalty of
friendship.
Reflections:
Where to begin, my name was Tammy Wallace, now Cindy Williams. I have a
sexy wonderful husband, and two beautiful daughters that's four and
seven. All of us are living under assumed names thanks to Rick's
psychotic ex-wife. Wait, this already is beginning to get way too
confusing. I guess I need to go back prior to even Harrisburg, Pa. This
whole thing started in a little town outside of Houston, Tx., that most
folks have not even heard of. Rick, his brother Jake, my sister Anita,
my bother Josh and I have always been friends. I guess this makes a
certain degree of sense due to our parents being friends since they were
young also. It just seemed that the Wallace's and Turner's made perfect
friends. Growing up it was destined that a romance developed somewhere
in that mix, it turned out to be Rick and myself. It didn't last long,
we did a little parking and some heavy breathing, but as a couple just
we just lacked the right chemistry. We parted as friends, and began
dating other people. My brother and sister, along with Rick's brother
were really worried when Rick began dating Denise Collins. Somewhere
along the line, Denise discovered Rick's and my brief relationship which
resulted in what could only be called a psychotic episode from Denise.
After a lot of effort of Rick's brother and my brother and sister, they
seemed to convince Denise that Rick and I were no longer a thing. I
ended up marrying Martin Bolton, sadly he died in a car wreck going to
work nine months after we were married. I never did re-marry. Rick and
Denise's romance continued despite all of our concerns, to the point
that they got married by themselves. Everything seemed to remain normal,
with some of us going to college and some of us to trade school. Rick
decided that his future was in electronic repair. He was pretty good at
it, even got a decent job in a local repair shop. Then Denise got the
letter from her Uncle Vince in Harrisburg, Pa.
Instead of making a toast to all his friends and family that came to
attend Rick's and Denise's first anniversary at the Flapping Duck
Tavern, Rick delivered the news. "Folks, you know that Denise's Uncle
Vince decided to retire. He had a little electronic shop in Harrisburg,
Pa., he told Denise that he'd give the shop to me if we moved up there."
There was stunned silence until my brother Josh spoke up. "Well you know
dude, that it's against the rules to separate the Turners and Wallaces."
Denise failed to see the statement as humor due to the way she replied.
"Well if you want to pay our bills, then sure we'll pass up the chance
of a lifetime."
Jake not being a big fan of Denise's anyway, wasn't going to tolerate
his goofy sister-in-law's rudeness." Sis, you know you really need to
get a life and quit being a drama queen. Josh was just joking, lighten
up chick."
Rick just dropped his head because he saw the instant reddening of
Denise's face. "Rick, I guess because Jake is your bother, you're going
to let him talk to me like that."
At an almost whisper, Rick looked at his bride of one year and said. "No
dear, guys we need to head home it's getting late."
Rick had gone through a lot of changes over the last year, everyone
could only shake their head at yet another one of Denise's inappropriate
outbursts.
After the happily married couple of one year had left. Josh in trying to
lighten the mood by looking over at Tammy. "Sis, maybe you and Rick
should've stayed together. At least he wouldn't be with psycho chick."
Anita reaching up to slap the back of her brother's head. "Shut up
Josh."
With everyone laughing at Anita, and the waitress coming to get the
group's tab payment, everyone decided that they had more than enough
celebrating for one night."
A week later Josh had a tape player that seemed to have a short in it,
so he decided to take it by Harper's Electronics to have Rick take a
look at it. Upon Josh's entry, which caused one of those old fashion
bells to jingle upon his entry.
Mr. Stan Harper smiling upon seeing who it was that came in. "Josh good
to see you, what can I do for you !?"
With a confused look on Josh's face. "Where's Rick?"
"He put in his notice in almost a week ago, didn't he tell you?"
"What the heck, there isn't too many electronic repair shops around
here!?"
"He said he was getting ready to move to Pennsylvania."
Josh saying to himself more than to Mr. Harper. "She actually talked him
into it!"
Josh stormed out Mr. Harper's shop with Mr. Harper calling after him.
"Josh, Josh, I didn't mean to upset you."
Mr. Harper returned back to his work bench much sooner than Josh did in
reaching Rick and Denise's house where he saw a moving truck parked in
front.
"Rick, dude was you going to say good-bye or were you going to slip of
in the middle of the night !?"
At that time Denise came walking out to where Rick was stopped by Josh
as he was loading a couple of boxes into the back of an Easy Haul moving
van. "Hello Josh, weren't you paying attention when Rick announced we
were moving?"
With a tremendous degree of restraint, Josh replied to Denise's attitude
laced question. "Well Denise, everybody had the impression that'd be a
little more than, we're leaving see you later."
With a smile that could only be seen in a child's cartoon villainess,
Denise directed her statement to Rick and ignored Josh's presence. "Rick
dear, the truck won't load itself. Maybe you'll have time to talk to
Josh and everyone else before we leave,"
Needless to say, Denise's schedule didn't include a final farewell
between Rick along with his family and friends.
(Two years later)
The first few months after Denise's and Rick's departure in the middle
of the night, figuratively, there were fairly routine calls and letters
between Rick and all of us in Texas. Then it was a letter or call maybe
once a month or so. Rick's family, not to mention my own, were becoming
increasingly concerned for Rick's wellbeing. Finally, almost a year has
gone by without either a call or letter being heard or seen from Rick.
Things by that time had begun to change drastically for me. A girlfriend
of mine, father approached me upon a visit that I'd made to her and her
parent's home. He was impressed by my looks as well as my overall
personality, he offered me a sales job that paid quite nicely. It didn't
take me long to accept it. I was absolutely ecstatic when I learned that
I was to attend a sales seminar in Harrisburg, Pa., of all places. I
informed mine as well Rick's family, that I planned to do some sleuthing
regarding what was going on with Rick and Denise. Once my seminar was
over, I called my boss to extend my stay in Harrisburg to do some
investigating. After the better part of a day I did manage to get Rick's
and Denise's new phone number, that conveniently was forgotten to be
forwarded to any family or friends.
Upon making my call and several rings later, Denise answers the phone.
"Hello Denise, this is Tammy Wallace."
A very surprised and caught off guard Denise Turner replies as non-
phased as possible. "Oh my gosh Tammy, it's so wonderful hearing from
you. I'd talked to Rick just a couple of days ago, telling him it'd been
so long in hearing from any of you. I wondered if everyone was mad at
us. I asked Rick if he'd gotten our new phone number relayed to any of
you."
With the sweetness and a hint of shocked concern in her voice, Denise
was doing her best in trying to sell me something that I wasn't going to
buy. Still, as the old saying goes about bees and honey..." No Denise he
hadn't. After some amateur sleuthing, I did manage to get you guy's
phone number. Is Rick there, I was hoping to say hello and prompt him to
give everyone a call?"
In her most sincere voice, Denise tells Tammy exactly what she wanted to
be heard. "Dear, I'm so sorry he's at the shop at the moment. He and I
both have been so busy over the last year, it's most likely how he
forgot to get you guys our new number. I'd give you the number to the
shop, but there's phone issues at the moment."
This is where Denise was put into a corner. "Well Denise maybe if I just
dropped by, you and I could drive over to the repair shop and surprise
Rick."
With color draining from her face, Denise summons every last amount of
composure she could muster in making her next reply. "Drop by, are you
saying you're in Harrisburg Tammy !?"
"Yes Denise, isn't that great? I'm so looking forward in catching up
with you two. Everyone in my family as well as Rick's has been so
worried about you guys. They're going to be so relieved when I tell them
I visited with you two."
"I'm sure they would be Tammy; this really isn't the most convenient
time though my dear. Maybe if you could just relay to them that you
talked to me and I assured you everything is alright."
Using her sweetest voice, Tammy firmly but cordially insisted on seeing
Rick personally. "Denise having been a wife myself; I appreciate your
position in wanting a more opportune time for a visit. The thing is, I
cannot in good conscience tell Rick's family, without not even seeing
him that you and he are alright."
Denise tried to stall Tammy while she thought of a good reason in not
allowing her to come by she and Rick's home. "Tammy, how long are you in
Harrisburg dear?
Not being anyone's fool, Tammy became very serious. "I will be returning
to Texas soon. Just to let you know Denise if for whatever reason that I
don't see Rick in person, I 'm going to be forced to file a missing
person's report to the police."
At this point Denise realized that she would not be able to put off a
visit of Tammy's with she and Rick. "Oh my goodness Tammy, there's no
reason why you need to get melodramatic gal. "I'd hoped you saying
having been married as well, you'd relate in me inviting you over due to
the house being cluttered. I tell you what, come by around six this
evening and visit. The address is 720 Piper's Way, it's just a little
bit off of I 76."
At 6:05 pm, Tammy Wallace was on the front porch of 720 Piper's Way
knocking on the door. After a couple of minutes Denise came to the door.
"Tammy, so wonderful to see you. You're the last person in the world I
expected to see in Harrisburg, what brings you here? Please come into
the living room and sit down on the sofa, can I get you something?"
Being as gracious as her true feelings would allow, Tammy smiled warmly
and began to answer Denise's questions. "I'm in sales, working for Candy
Barton's dad. He sent me up here for a sales seminar. As for getting me
anything..., how about Rick?"
With a little bit of nervous laughter, Denise responded. "That may be a
little difficult at this very moment, Rick said he was finishing up a
repair on a TV. "
With a deadpan reply Tammy replied. "That's ok, I'll wait."
At that point there was a noise in one of the back rooms of the house.
"Denise, is there someone here?"
Then there was a sound that sounded like a young child. "Denise, do you
have a child here?"
With an odd look of frustration, Denise's response was. "Excuse me
Tammy, I'll be right back."
Due to Denise being in the back for a few minutes, Tammy became restless
and glanced at the coffee table that was in front of her, noticing an
envelope that was simply marked, (Ms. Beth)."
Tammy was little concerned in being caught looking at other people's
mail. As if on cue, Denise returned to the living room holding the hand
of a beautiful little blonde-haired girl with the prettiest blue eyes,
being no more than four years old. She was adorable, she had the cutest
white dress with red polka dots, garnished with a red ribbon sash tied
into a bow in the back. The little girl's outfit was finished off with a
matching red ribbon in her long blonde hair, along with black Mary
Janes. "Denise, who might this little angel be?"
"Her name is Jenni, Rick and I adopted her shortly after moving here to
Harrisburg."
"Speaking of Rick Denise, it's already close to 6:30. Do you have any
idea of when he'll be coming through the door?"
"To be honest Tammy he's most likely got involved in a project, so it's
hard to say."
Tammy decided regardless of how sickly-sweet Denise has tried to be, and
regardless of the cuteness of Jenni, she was going to see Rick either at
his house or his shop. "Denise since Jenni is dressed, and you're not
sure when Rick is going to be home, let's ride to his shop."
Suddenly Denise's demeanor changed. That was not the only weirdness that
Tammy was registering. There was something about this little girl that
didn't seem right. "Tammy, I have to confess something to you."
"Ok Denise, is Rick in trouble, sick, or some other problem?"
Drawing upon all the years of cultivating herself as the drama queen
that she is, Denise's eyes began water with tears beginning to flow.
"Tammy, there's a reason there hasn't been any word from Rick and I for
the last year and a half or so."
Tammy handing Denise a tissue from her purse, "Ok, and...?"
"Shortly after moving here Rick and I began to have marital problems. I
was hoping that by adopting Jenni, she'd bring the two of us closer."
"So, is Rick living somewhere else in Harrisburg?"
While dabbing a tear from her eye, Denise began what she hoped would be
one of her greatest drama performances. "To be honest Tammy, I've no
idea of where he could be. I have not seen him in well over a year. I'm
sorry for not contacting all of you, it was..., I was just too
embarrassed."
While trying to process all of what Denise had told her, Tammy continued
to be haunted by a look from the little girl that seemed like she was
wanting to say something. "I guess I can understand that Denise,
although I don't really appreciate it as well as the rest of the family.
I guess it's been hard on you though. How have you been able to manage
financially?"
"You know I love to sew, I've been doing alterations, repairs, that kind
of stuff. Plus, along with the uncle that gave us the shop, I have an
aunt and some cousins that's helped out a lot. I hate to be rude, but I
am going to start Jenni's bed time routine of; bathing, bed time story,
along with some mommy and daughter time. When are you leaving?"
"I won't be leaving until late tomorrow evening. I'm catching a late
commuter flight to Pittsburgh, then a red eye to Houston."
"Then please, stop by before you leave tomorrow."
Tammy was beginning to feel that Denise wanted her to leave sooner than
later. "That sounds fantastic, I look forward to seeing you girls
tomorrow."
As Tammy Wallace reached her rental car and ensuring that she was out of
Denise's hearing range, she stated to herself.. "You're full of it
chick, Rick's not like that. Even when he and I were dating, his big
thing was looking forward to the day he'd get the chance to become half
the dad that his dad was. Along with being a drama queen Denise, I see
you've become quite the liar. Then there's that little girl...., I think
I need to go to the library tomorrow morning to do some research of the
local papers. I want to see what the local gossip was a year and a half
ago. Maybe there'd be an arrest column or something. I think when I get
to the hotel room, I'm also going to do a search for investigators."
In considering that she was looking suspicious, Tammy started her rental
car to begin her trip back to her hotel room. After settling into her
room and opening her laptop, Tammy began her search fo local
investigators. After several calls and several voice mails, a real
person answered the phone. "Hello Fletcher Investigations, Chad Fletcher
speaking can I help you?"
Right off the bat Tammy was impressed. She was a big fan of a British
private investigator in a TV show she'd watched as a young girl. Which
was one of the main reasons that she loved mysteries. This guy on the
phone sounded just like the private investigator she'd enjoyed in her
younger days. "Yes, Mr. Fletcher, my name is Tammy Wallace. I'm from out
of state, and I have some concerns for a male friend of mine that moved
here in Harrisburg a couple of years ago."
"I guessed you weren't from the area your accent is as thick as mine,
Texas I would say."
"Very good Mr. Fletcher, I'm from the Houston area."
Cordially Mr. Fletcher responded. "I'm from the London area originally.
What's your concern for this friend of yours?"
"I just spoke with his wife earlier this evening, she lied right to my
face. Up until a year and a half ago my family and his family heard from
my friend Rick, on a semi regular basis at least."
"So, you're saying the communication ceased suddenly? So, what's your
friend's name again?"
"His name is Rick Turner; his wife's name is Denise Turner. Now they
have an adopted daughter named Jenni Turner as well."
"Can you tell me a little about the wife and daughter?"
"I can tell you his wife is a lying psychopath. Prior to Rick and Denise
leaving Texas she was just a psycho and drama queen. The daughter, I
just met her tonight. There's something very odd about her, I can't put
my finger on it, but there's something just not right about her."
"How old is the daughter?"
"I think my sister-in-law said she was four."
"When did your friend and his wife adopt this little girl?"
"I guess it must've been just about the same time that Rick quit
communicating with any of us, which was about a year and a half ago."
"Ms. Wallace, when would the soonest you could meet me?"
"I'm to leave later tomorrow evening and return to Texas. I was going to
do some digging around the library tomorrow morning to see if I can spot
any gossip in the local papers; that may say anything about Rick before
I left. Then I was going to swing by my sister-in-law's place again to
say good-bye. Maybe see if I can get some more vibes from Jenni."
"Tammy call me Chad. Are you psychic?"
Tammy raised up from her hotel bed she'd gotten comfortable on when she
was asked the question. "Am I psychic? Not that I know of, why do you
even ask?".
The voice on the phone apparently had a feeling that the person he was
talking to, had somewhat of an incredulous reaction. "Oh no reason,
could you meet me tomorrow morning at Starbucks on Liberty and Olsen St.
downtown at say, 9:00 am?"
"As I said Mr. Fle.., Chad, I was planning on doing some research at the
library tomorrow morning."
"Tammy, I don't think you need to do any investigation. I think I may
know where your friend is."
"You do, how? Where is he then!?"
"Much closer than you realize. Please, I only ask for an hour of your
time. Besides I at least answered the phone, which is more than the
other five investigators you tried to contact did."
A very shocked Tammy Wallace asks, "how did you know I called five
people before you!?"
"I'll explain, along with giving you a way to find your friend. Can you
meet me tomorrow morning?"
Being intrigued, and very curious if the man was as sexy as his voice.
"Ok Chad I will but I only have maybe an hour."
"That should be more than enough mum."
The cute way he said "mum" was enough to seal the deal."
"Tammy, do you know the address?"
"I'll put it in my GPS, I'll see you in the morning."
After a restless night's sleep, thinking of what had transpired in just
the last 24hours. The next morning Tammy Wallace found the Starbuck's
without problems. Upon entering the Starbuck's, a slender man in a very
expensive suit, with dark well-groomed hair and steely-grey eyes came up
to her to greet her. "Tammy Wallace?"
"Chad? How did you recognize me!?"
"You just happen to look like you belong to your voice. Please get us a
seat, and I'll get us something to drink. What would you like?"
"Tea will be fine."
"How civilized of you. Well I'm going to opt for coffee. You Yanks have
rubbed off on me in the years that I've lived in the States."
Chad Fletcher found it hard to avert his eyes from the beautiful Texas
woman sitting across from him upon sitting down for their conversation."
"Chad you recognizing me was the second time of impressing me, your
intuitiveness must come in pretty handy as a private investigator."
Chad Fletcher tells Tammy something she wasn't quite ready to hear.
"Tammy I'm not a private investigator, I'm a paranormal Investigator."
With a strange blend of anger and amazement, Tammy responds. "A
paranormal investigator, you mean like a ghost hunter!?"
"Not quite my investigations are real, and they don't involve ghosts"
With no small degree of frustration. "What, do you chase bigfoot or
aliens !?"
"I see I have a skeptic; I can't blame you though. No love, I chase
Harpies."
Sipping the last of her tea, Tammy began to assemble her belongings to
get up and leave. She had to ask the strange British man one question
though." So, what exactly is a Harpie?"
"If you just give me the hour you agreed to, I will explain everything.
By the end of the hour you will understand."
Putting her stuff back down, Tammy tells her company. "Since you are as
cute as you are, I'll give you the 50 minutes that I have left of my
time."
"Peachy, I'm going to start with that older African American lady that
just walked in."
In seeing the lady that her companion was looking at, walking up to the
ordering counter. "Yes, do you know her?"
"I've never seen her before. She's going to come over and tell you
something you have not told me though."
"So, your psychic?"
"Let me say, I understand the flow of the universe better than most
people. Please wait, here she comes."
"Hello Mrs. Arnold, I'd like to introduce my friend. Mrs. Arnold, have
you or I ever met?"
With a strange almost dreamlike look on the lady's face, she replies.
"No sir."
"Do you know why you're here?"
With a continued blank smile, the lady answers. "No sir, I don't."
"Mrs. Arnold, you're going to tell this lady who her first date was
with, and where they went."
"Yes sir. Ma'am, your first date was with Jerry Price, the two of you
went to Lana's Diner in Alvin, Texas."
"Thank you, Mrs. Arnold, you may go back to what you were doing. I want
you to forget you had this conversation with the lady and I, do you
understand?."
"Yes sir."
Continuing her blank smile, the lady turned and walked back to the line
placing her order without looking back. Tammy sat in stunned silence,
finally being able to ask, "how did you do that!?"
"Tammy some time ago a wise man said, "Not only is the universe strange,
it's stranger than you may think. Mankind has for thousands of years
considered himself as the only sentient creature on the planet. At one
time there was a number of other thinking creatures. The last three of
the species that's left; is humans, Shamans, and Harpies. Due to the
number and creativity of humans, they became the dominant species. That
didn't mean the Harpies and Shamans ceased to exist though. As I said,
humans with their creativity have been able to advance, but over time
their collective memory has forgotten the other species. Whereas the
Harpies and Shamans lacked in creativity, they made up in abilities that
have come to be called magic. Sadly, back in the 17th century a small
handful of Harpies were discovered and ultimately killed. Your history
called that event, "The Salem Witch Trials". Since that time both
Harpies and Shamans have gone underground."
Chad paused as a young lady walked past the couple's booth to go to the
bathroom. Tammy took that pause to try and stop the gentleman sitting
across the table from her. "Chad, I don't know how you did the trick
with that lady, but..."
"Please, Tammy let me finish, I'm about done."
With an amused skeptical look on her face, Tammy let the handsome
British gentleman continue.
"In 1878 my wife, two sons, and I having caught a steamer were going to
the great American south west to begin our own ranch. We'd read about
such things in the London newspapers. Unfortunately, we ran into an
Apache war party that killed my wife, two sons, and almost me.
Thankfully I was discovered by a young man that was able to help me to
his village. At first, I thought these people were Apaches themselves.
As it turned out, they were Shamans. I ended up living with them, over
time they taught me some of their talents. I learned to slow my aging,
control matter and energy to a degree, and develop some what you call
psychic abilities. I also learned about the ongoing battle between the
Harpies and the Shamans. The Harpies became malevolent due their hatred
of humans, and since the Shamans took a benevolent view of humans, the
Harpies began to consider the Shamans as hated rivals. Thus, there's
been a war that has spanned over centuries."
Tammy sat with a bemused and skeptical look on her face as her companion
finished up his outlandish story. "Chad I'm a little irritated in losing
an hour I could've been looking for leads as to what happened to Rick,
but I have to say you've been entertaining. Have you ever considered
writing?"
"Love I can see you are a very tough customer, as you Yanks would say.
Because of the seriousness of this situation, I'm going to give one more
display of what is at play here." With that Chad closed his eyes and
with his two hands made an odd gesture. "Tammy, in your purse you have a
picture of; your brother Danny, sister Anita, Rick's brother Josh, plus
you and Rick on a swimming outing."
With that, Tammy's jaw dropped. "How are you able to do that, and the
other stuff !?"
"Tammy, I've been trying to explain. What you're dealing with is not a
simple missing person's case. You have the opportunity to rescue your
friend from the situation he now is in. There's going to be a limit in
which I can help, but at least I can help you rescue your friend from
his present circumstance."
"Chad, you talk like you know where Rick is."
"I do, and so do you."
"No I don't, why would I be here talking to you if I did?"
"Your friend no longer looks the same as you last saw him. You actually
saw him yesterday."
"What are you talking about? I've only seen Denise, and her little girl,
Jenni."
"That's exactly when you saw Rick."
"Wait..., are you saying Rick was that...?"
"Little girl, yes that's been Ms. Beth's method of operation for a
little over a century."
"Chad, you're asking me to believe that a full-grown man has been
magically changed into a little girl!"
"You call it magic, it's just a Harpy's ability to control biology, and
to some degree matter and energy. I've over the last century been on the
trail of Ms. Beth; a rogue Harpy that has come to use her gifts for
profit. It seems that Ms. Beth has been charging women that's had either
wayward boyfriends or husbands, by exacting this type of revenge on
their previous mates."
"So, this Ms. Beth charges to change men into little girls? Why didn't
Jenni tell me what happened when I was at the house yesterday?"
"Most likely, not only did Ms. Beth use a transmutation enchantment, but
also a speech inhibiter, and possibly even a behavior modification
enchantment."
Tammy being overloaded by concepts that came straight out of the
Twilight Zone could only ask. "What...?"
Again, pausing briefly as a customer made their way to the bathroom, and
taking a sip of his coffee that had grown cold during his explaining the
dire circumstances regarding this lady's friend. "Think of it as a super
form of hypnosis, that not only prevents your friend from telling you
who she now is, but may also having her act and think as a four-year-old
little girl."
"Chad, what you're asking me to believe is impossible! "
"Only by your definition of reality love. Do you want to rescue your
friend from a life of suffering as the child of a mentally unbalanced
woman?"
"I'm beginning to wonder who'd more unbalanced, Denise or me for
actually in believing you. How would I even rescue the little girl?"
"Follow me out to my car, I brought some tools that you're going to
need. When are you planning on going to your sister-in-law's house
again?
As the couple rose from their booth and walked out to Chad's car, "I was
planning on going by this evening before leaving for the airport."
"Tammy, you can scrap the plans for returning home at the moment. When
you rescue, what was her name, Jenni?"
"Yes."
"When you rescue Jenni, you need to drive out of Harrisburg as quickly
as possible, you're only going to have a couple of hours head start of
what's to come."
A perplexed Tammy Wallace asks. "What's to come...?"
On the way to Denise's house, Tammy went over the instructions of how to
use the bizarre tools in which Chad gave her. Upon entering the home,
she was to take the small squirt bottle and squirt a mist from it three
times into the air. That would instantly cause Denise to fall asleep for
2-3 hours. Then upon going into Jenni's room, open up what looked like
an antique snuff can, and blow the contents into the air. This would
return the little girl's ability to speak freely once more. All of this
hopefully would not cause harm to herself. Regardless, saying all of
this craziness is true, she could not let a lifelong friend be held
captive by a crazy person. Hopefully, the special car key that's
supposed to fit any car, and the mystical credit card that would be
accepted anywhere, along with having an unlimited cap would actually
work.
Upon pulling the appropriated car, that according to Chad changed into
her name at the DMV when she used the special key he'd given her. Once
in front of Denise's home Tammy could see a car parked in the driveway.
Upon seeing a car seat in the back of the car, it'd be a pretty good
guess that it is Denise's car. Tammy made a mental note to remove the
car seat to use for Jenni once rescuing her.
It was now or never in implementing the rescue, Tammy walked up to the
front door. "Hello, Denise, is there anyone home?"
After the couple of knocks on the door and announcing herself, Denise
answered the door. "Tammy how nice, you came to visit before going back
to Texas. You're a little early, but you timed it good."
Denise pouring on the gracious hostess invited Tammy into the living
room, and onto the sofa.
"I apologize Denise. I wanted to get an early start, by the time I
dropped the rental car off and checked my luggage..."
"I completely understand. Since it's begun to turn warmer, I make it a
habit to take Jenni to the park so she can play with the other children.
I also get to visit with the other mothers."
Tammy trying to steady her nerves of what was to come, commented in
support. "Yes, I'd think it'd be good for Jenni and you to get that
socialization."
"Between you and me, it also gives me bragging rights of having the
prettiest little girl there. Jenni's asleep at the moment. I have a
routine of checking her pullups, she's almost potty trained. Then lay
her down for her nap. Would you like some coffee?"
In seeing that being the perfect opportunity to implement her plan,
Tammy readily agreed to some coffee. As Denise was in the kitchen
preparing some coffee for the two women; Tammy spoke loud enough for
Denise to hear in the kitchen. "It's interesting Denise, that almost
exactly as the adoption came through for Jenni, that's when Rick took
off."
Upon Denise returning into the living room with their beverages, Denise
had already begun to tell her concocted, delusional side of the story.
"It's sad Tammy, it's most likely when that slut that I just know he'd
been sleeping with, wanted Rick and her to move from Harris... "
As Denise entered the living room, her sentence was cut short by seeing
Tammy standing by the coffee table with a squirt bottle in her hand.
"Tammy what are you..."
Denise instantly fell forward causing the coffee and the serving tray to
be flailed across the room as she crumpled instantly to the floor in
unconsciousness. Now it'd be just a matter of finding Jenni's room. Upon
checking the second closed door, it opened to a fully furnished, pink
from top to bottom, little girl's nursery. Off to the far side of the
room, she could see Jenni sleeping soundly in her baby bed. Upon getting
the little box from her purse and blowing the contents into the air as
instructed by Chad, she saw the little girl begin to stir.
Jenni felt a mixture of thrill and embarrassment upon opening her little
eyes seeing Tammy next to her baby bed. "Tammy...?" The little girl's
eyes opened widely in surprise." "I'm able to call you bys name, the
mean ole spell that nots lets me talk must have been takens off fwom
me."
Even though Jenni was still talking like a toddler, she still seemed to
be able to express herself freely. "Rick, is that really you in there?"
With that, tears welled up in the little girl's eyes. "Yesh Tammy, that
means old witch lady and mommy somehows changed me intos a little girl.
Mommy said me was havings an affair, but me weely wasn't. Honest!"
"It doesn't matter, we need to get you out of here. I'm going to get you
a couple changes of clothes, some of your pull ups, get the car seat out
of the back of Denise's car and into my car, then get out of
Harrisburg."
"Where we goings Tammy? Do we weely have to use the car seat?"
"I'm afraid so. We're going to be meeting a friend of mine in Virginia.
I can only imagine you hate to be put into a car seat, but the last
thing we need is to get into trouble with the police."
With an adorable little pouty face, Jenni dejectedly stated. "Me guess
so."
In less than 15 minutes Tammy had found Jenni a top that had cartoon
unicorns running on it, along with some pink coveralls, a yellow dress
with white frills, plus a pair of Dora the Explorer tennis shoes, along
with a black Mary Janes. Then upon getting a few pair of pullups and the
car seat in place in the back of the rental car, securing Jenni into the
seat, the two females were off into their escape.
Within minutes of being put into her car seat, Jenni had fallen back to
sleep. She did not awaken until Hagerstown, Maryland... "Where we at
Tammy?"
"Ah, I see my little sleepy head is finally awake back there. We just
went through Hagerstown Maryland. I stopped for gas, so we should be
good for the rest of the trip"
"Going to the park weely poops me out. Me sowwy me is talkings like
this, it's part of the spell me thinks."
Not able to suppress a smile, Tammy replies. "That's ok, I can
understand you. How did all of this happen anyway!?"
Jenni started to speak, then paused. "Me is thirsty, is there anything
to dwink?"
Anticipating the little girl may become thirsty, she brought her sippy
cup, which she filled with juice when she stopped at the gas station.
"Does orange juice sound ok?"
"Yesh, me likes orange juice."
"Well it's good to see some things haven't changed about you. I
remember, you always having a bottle of orange juice in your hand. I
poured it into your sippy cup, I didn't know how good your coordination
is."
"That ok."
With that, Tammy contorted herself to pass Jenni her sippy cup in the
back. "So again, how did this all happen?"
"Denise and me gots settled in Hawwisburg. Me started to gets the shop
going by working long hours. Me guess two things happened wif Denise,
her begans to say me was having affairs. Us was fighting alls the time.
Thens it just stopped, After abouts a month me asked her if her believed
me in nots doing bads things. Her said that her had made a new fwiend
that was helping her puts things in the rights view. Then about another
month laters, Denise saids her fwiend wanted to invites us both to
dinner. Me said me felt funny, me nots even knew hers real name, all
Denise saids was her names was Ms. Beth. Me thoughts maybe her was an
entertainer or somethin. Finally me brokes down and agreed to go and
have dinner ats Ms. Beth's place. Evewything was fine until dessert, her
mades individual dessert for each of us. Bys the time me finished
eating, me started to feels funny, kinda sick to mys tummy. Me noticed
the table and chair me was in, was gettings bigger. That whens me
noticed Ms. Beth and Denise smiling ats me. Me was kinda mads at them
because me was weely nots feeling good. I asked them why thems was
smiling, that was whens me heard mys voice was weirds. Me felt muscle
cwamps all overs my body, and was seeing my arms, hands, even legs
drawing up, seeming to looks smaller. It didn't takes long to wealize
thems were getting smaller. Mys head begans to itch, wif hair falling
downs in mys face. Mys head began to hurts weely bad, that when me
must've passed out. When me wokes up, me was like this. Me scweamed,
which made me feels ever more badders because how much of a girl me
sounded like. Denise and Ms. Beth cames iinto the woom me was in. When
Ms. Beth turned up the light, me noticed me was in a cwib wif a clear
top ons it to keeps me fwom gettings out. Me was tolds that me was going
to be staying wif Ms.Beth for the next week. Durings that time me
forgots to know when me hads to use the baffroom, me begans talking
likes this, me begans to act and even liked things that a little girl
woulds like. Speaking of, dids you gets Amy Marie?"
"Who, dear?"
"Mys dolly."
"No sweet heart, I didn't notice her."
With tears welling up in Jenni's eyes, she responded. "That ok, can me
nots talk anymore?"
"That's fine sweety, I need to focus on the road anyway."
Tammy was amazed and absolutely saddened to see what had happened to the
sweet man, that at one time she had even dated. She embarrassed herself
in thinking about some of the more intimate dates that she'd had with
Rick. Looking back to see the little girl dozing off again, she shook
the memories of days gone by, and contemplated on the days that lay
ahead.
Jenni had awakened just as the two females crossed over into Virgina. By
this point Tammy knew full well that Denise had regained consciousness,
and was not a happy camper indeed. "Tammy what is we supposed to do when
we gets to Virginia?"
"Dear, I guess I should tell you. Not only is your current situation
confusing for you, but I'm not even sure what to call you."
"You mays as well call me Jenni, that what's me been called for overs a
year now."
"Jenni we will be meeting a friend that I recently met when we get to
the Hampton Inn once we reach Winchester, Virginia."
"How is him supposed to helps us?"
"Mr. Chad has some special gifts like Ms. Beth, only he's a good guy."
"Is you sure?"
"Yes dear, I'm sure. I saw a sign a little way back that said Winchester
was 20 miles, so we should be coming up on it at any time. Oh look, a
sign that says Winchester City Limits. When Ms. Beth made you little,
can you still read?"
"Yesh."
"Ok Jenni, then help me watch for the Hampton Inn."
Within 10 minutes Tammy had found the Hampton Inn. Upon pulling into the
parking lot Tammy saw Chad at the entrance of the hotel. "Hello Tammy,
did you and Jenni make it here without any trouble?"
"None at all, as far as I know. Going through Maryland I was a little
scared, I'm sure that Denise has contacted that lady that did this to
Jenni by now."
"That's why it's important that we get to the room. I've done a
camouflage incantation for Caitlyn and I, but I need to get you and
Jenni under it as well."
With a little bit of concern, Tammy asks. "Who's Caitlyn?"
"She's another little girl like Jenni. While you were rescuing Jenni, I
rescued her. Come with me, I have the four of us a room as the Williams
family."
"What, you have us as a family!? How long are we going to have to share
a room with each other?"
"Get Jenni and follow me to the room, we have some strategies to go
over. Were you able to get any of her things?"
"I got her a couple of outfits, along with shoes. I forgot Amy Marie
though."
"Who?"
Smiling at Chad, Tammy told him, "I'll tell you later, it's a girl
thing."
With that Tammy handed Jenni's small grocery bag of clothes to Chad as
she picked Jenni up and began walking towards the room. Upon entering
the room Tammy saw a young girl of about seven years old with dish water
blonde hair; wearing a white T shirt with a teddy bear on the front of
it, pink denim pants, and the blinking kind of tennis shoes, stretched
out on one of the two beds watching cartoons. Chad went into his host
mode in introducing everyone. "Tammy, Jenni, this is Caitlyn, Caitlyn,
this is Tammy and Jenni. Caitlyn was changed three years ago; she was
the same age as Jenni is now. Caitlyn this is Jenni, she was changed a
little over a year ago. Tammy just to relieve any concerns you may have
regarding the sleeping arrangements; as you noticed I rented a room with
two beds along with the couch being a fold out bed. We're only going to
be here one night before going to the house."
Tammy was now confused, "the house"?
Chad walking over to the couch began to lay out the plan."Ok, everyone
gather around. Tammy, yesterday right after I talked to you, I went down
to West Virginia to rescue Caitlyn from a family in Clarksburg. While on
the way here, I began to realize that Jenni and Caitlyn are the only two
girls that are known to have been changed by Ms. Beth that has escaped
their captivity. As long as they're free, that puts Ms. Beth in a very
awkward position with the rest of the Harpies."
Due to all of this not only being something out of the Twilight Zone,
there were more things not known about all of this. Tammy had to ask.
"Does what she did to these two girls put her at odds with the other
Harpies?"
"It definitely does Tammy. As I said, the Harpies are not nice
creatures. I use the word creatures for a reason. Although they may look
like human women, they're not, by the way all Harpies are female. They
are very bad females, and they want to stay under the radar. Ms. Beth
has commercialized her talents, which makes the other Harpies
uncomfortable in concerns of discovery. They will continue to marshal
around her, but they're not pleased. Now mind you, this information is a
couple of years old.
"Chad this all sounds like the war in the movies that has the vampires
and werewolves at odds with each other."
"Not too different Tammy, only Shamans and Harpies are real. To finish
my thought, the only way to protect the girls along with us rescuing
them, is to blend in with typical every day humans. Tammy you being
human you wouldn't be detected. Even though I started out as human, my
aura along with the girls being victims of enchantment, will have an
enchanted aura. Any Harpies that's worth their weight, can detect an
enchanted aura from the other side of the planet. That's why I purchased
a house with one of the credit cards like I gave you Tammy. Speaking of,
I need that one back so I can remove its enchantment. There doesn't need
to be any object that's enchanted in our proximity. I purchased a house
a few miles from here in a little town called Berryville, Virginia. That
was after I contacted the other Shamans."
"How many Shamans are there Chad?"
"There's quite a few Tammy. They've made arrangements so that we'll be
able to live in Berryville with our needs met. I put up a camouflage
enchantment that will hide our existence there wherever we go in the
town. We all now have new identities, Tammy you and I are now Chad and
Cindy Williams. Caitlyn you're older sister of seven, Caitlyn Williams.
Finally, Jenni you're now four-year old Jenni Williams."
"Chad, I understand this is going to be a little like witness
protection, but I don't know about being your wife."
"Tammy, I mean Cindy, it's just for show I promise."
Finally, it was Jenni that spoke up for the two girls. She slid down off
the bed where she had been engrossed in watching the cartons with
Caitlyn, walking over to where Chad was. "How longs is we going to live
there, is there goings to be a way that Caitlyn and me becoming gwon ups
again?"
With great sadness in his eyes, Chad responds. "Jenni I'd want nothing
more than to say it was possible for the Shamans to be able to revert
you two back to grown men again, as well as no telling how many other
men that's now girls back to your male selves. This enchantment is
solely Ms. Beth's specialty. She's been doing it for over a century; I
doubt she will stop. What we can do is protect you from being the
prisoners of those that Ms. Beth changed you for."
Jenni in thinking what the man had said thus far, and knowing the cost
of hiding them all asked this of Chad, in considering the wellbeing of
her friend. "Since Tammy is not enchanted like we is, wouldn't she be
able to go backs home to Texas?"
Tammy walking over to pick Jenni up to hug her. "Honey thank you so much
in your consideration of me. What do you think Chad?"
"I'd say this, if you go back home it'd put every one of your family
members at risk. Although you don't have an enchanted aura now, you do
have what's called a residual enchantment aura. Meaning if enough
Harpies got together, they could locate you by combining their abilities
in detecting you strictly from the residual enchantment. Your literal
life, as well as your family could be at stake. As for me they could
banish me to the sub universe, which is not a good place to be for
eternity. As for the girls their memories were left intact, if they're
caught again their whole existence as men would be wiped from their
memory. Caitlyn, you've been very quiet do you have anything to add?"
"Chad, I was changed by Ms. Beth for messing around on my fianc?. I was
an orphan, thankfully or unluckily as it happened to be, I grew up to be
a handsome man that I used to my advantage. I used women for everything
they were worth and moved on. Being an orphan, I really had no
connection with anyone. The woman I was supposed to have married found
out about me, knew of Ms. Beth, and when I was changed dropped me off at
some hillbilly cousin of hers. I was neglected, smacked around by the
cousin, and the cousin's husband was beginning to give me some creepy
looks. In the final analysis yes, I do miss my manhood but if we do
become a family, it's more than I had."
Chad looking at each one of the females in the room. "I can't, as much
as I'd like to, compel any of you to go to Berryville with me. It'd be
to your benefit, but the decision will be left up to each of you."
Tammy began, then Caitlyn, then finished off by Jenni. "Berryville."
Smiling Chad replied. "Ok then Mrs. William, my two daughters Caitlyn
and Jenni. Let's grab some dinner, I'm sure everyone is starved."
Tammy looking at Chad. "Well Mr. Williams if you use your special card,
won't we be detected?"
"I put a local shield around us, when my fellow Shamans sent assistance
they used another kind of enchantment."
Puzzled, Tammy asked. "What kind of enchantment would that be?"
Laughing, Chad replied. "a wire transfer." With that, both Caitlyn and
Jenni giggled.
A couple of hours after Tammy Wallace had bravely liberated a very
traumatized Jenni Turner from her captor, a scene that will set into
motion actions that will be done with great prejudice. A very confused
Denise Turner moans as a result of the after effect of the knock out
potion and a mild carpet burn as she gingerly begins to pick herself up
from the floor of her home. Almost instantly she realizes one of her
husband's best friends is nowhere to be seen. Right after that she
concluded this was a planned assault. As quick as her still groggy mind
and recovering body resulting from the knock out potion would allow her,
she ran into Jenni's nursery to see if the little girl was still there
"That slut!!! That frigging slut!!, I had a feeling I should have never
let her set foot into my home! I need to call Ms. Beth. "
After several rings of the phone, a voice that for over a century caused
great trauma and misery of men throughout the United States. "Yes Beth
Sanders speaking, can I help you?"
A very reluctant Denise Turner begins to share the account that had just
happened in her home. "Ms. Beth, this is Denise Turner. There's been
something significant happen with Jenni!"
With a very arrogant syrupy sweet voice, Ms. Beth asks. "Denise, what is
wrong dear? Does our little girl have a tummy ache or something?"
Slowly and hesitantly Denise begins to share what had just happened.
"Ms. Beth, someone from Jenni's..."
A very angry Ms. Beth begins to unleash her fury. "Wait, my Awareness
Crystal is allowing me to see an attack against you by an attractive
blonde-haired woman; No! she took Jenni...!?"
Denise answering in almost a whisper. "Yes Ms. Beth, I'm afraid so."
"Denise, I want you to come to my home immediately. Don't be afraid my
dear, Jenni is the second one of my girls that has been taken from their
new homes and lives this morning. You and I have some work ahead of us."
"Yes Ms. Beth, I'll be right over."
Denise Turner pulls up in front of a very nondescript wood-framed home
in a very nondescript neighborhood just outside of Harrisburg. Having
been into this deceptively unassuming home, she realizes how it's
insides in no way matches the outside of the home.
Upon walking up to the front door, just getting ready to ring the
doorbell, the door opens on its own accord. Upon her entry into Ms.
Beth's home, Denise finds herself standing on a stone landing with
sconces burning on each side of the inside of the front door. "Hello,
Ms. Beth, it's me, Denise Turner."
Ms. Beth appearing to Denise's left side of her back between the
visiting woman and the heavy oak door that could only be seen once
inside Ms. Beth's home. A very calm and eerily composed Ms. Beth
welcomes her visitor. "Welcome Denise, sad it's not under more pleasant
circumstances. Please continue forward and to the right."
A very contrite Denise Turner begins her defense in how things unfolded.
"Ms. Beth, I'm so sorry in how things have unfolded. I know you gave me
explicit instructions of not letting anyone know how Jenni came to be."
While Denise was engaged her defense, the two ladies had reached what
Ms. Beth referred to as her dining room. In actuality, it looked more
like a banquet hall with tapestry on the walls to add a more regal
d?cor.
"Please Denise, take a seat at the table and tell me how this happened."
Once seated Denise began recounting how she recieved the call from Tammy
Wallace, and ending to where they were at this moment. "Ms. Beth, I'd
just gotten Jenni up out of her baby bed and checked her pull ups when I
received the call. I at first was surprised how anyone had gotten my new
phone number. Then I was doubly shocked when I discovered Rick's former
girlfriend was in Harrisburg. I couldn't persuade her to not come by, so
I thought maybe I could just con her with the story we had put together.
Apparently, she didn't buy it and seemingly got some aide."
With a thoughtful look coming across her face. "That is what I think is
important at this moment. How was it that this woman overpowered you?"
"It's a little foggy, but it seemed I saw Tammy spraying something into
the air when I lost consciousness."
"Hmm, let me check something."
Ms. Beth waved her hand over Denise's head causing a faint golden glow
to begin emanating from Denise's body."
A shocked Denise asked. "What just happened Ms. Beth, why did I begin to
glow?"
"I just used an enchantment detection gesture; you were exposed to some
sort of enchantment."
"Ms. Beth, to my knowledge Tammy doesn't practice the arts or is
gifted."
"No Denise, but she sure encountered someone that was. From the
experience that I've had for almost a century, I know exactly who it
is."
"You know the person that's responsible for this!?"
Drawing a deep breath while controlling the seething anger that was
beginning to build up in her. "He's not a person, he's a Shaman."
"An Indian witch doctor!?"
"No Denise, not that kind of Shaman, Shamans are a cousin to human
beings."
A very confused Denise asks." Wait, are you saying there's more than one
kind of human?"
"Once upon a time there were several types of humans, where do you think
your legends come from. This particular Shaman has been a pain in my ass
for almost a century."
The statement beginning to register with Denise. "Almost a century...,
how old are you Ms. Beth?"
"Denise, I'm a Harpy. Meaning, no I'm not human either. This is not a
concern at the moment, it's Chad Fletcher and dealing with my fellow
Harpies."
Almost as if on cue, a large beautiful aquamarine crystal that sat
prominently encased within an ornate silver stand that sat on what
looked like a sacrificial alter of some sort in one corner of the room
the women were in began to glow. Within seconds a mist appeared above
the crystal, which began showing an image of a very menacing middle-aged
raven-haired woman wearing a flowing burgundy colored velvet robe. "Beth
it's come to the attention of the counsel, that your little enterprise
that you've been engaged in over the last century has finally gone awry.
"
Uncharacteristically Ms. Beth responds with what seemed to be actual
contriteness. "Mistress Onieah , I've just become aware of it myself.
I'm working out a strategy as we speak. This issue will be dealt with
swiftly and permanently."
"Beth you do realize your endeavors were not welcomed by many in the
counsel for just this reason. We do not need another Salem incident; do
I make myself clear?"
"I understand Mistress Onieah."
"Beth regardless of your standing on the Counsel, it still does not
exclude you from the sub-universe. Do you understand?"
A visibly shaken Ms. Beth quickly replies. "Absolutely Mistress."
"Beth, the Counsel has convened to discover trace amounts of enchantment
in the area of Winchester, Virginia. I suggest you go there to recover
the object of your little business enterprise. We've also been alerted
that one of your projects has come up missing in West Virginia as well.
The Counsel expects you to resolve this issue at once. It's also to your
benefit that there is no other incident of this nature."
As Ms. Beth acknowledged complete understanding of the implications that
Mistress Onieah expressed, the mist began to dissipate and subside back
into the ornate crystal and stand.
A very concerned Denise Turner inquired of the, what she had thought of
as human just a short period ago. "Ms. Beth, how bad is this situation?"
"It's bad, and Denise you're going to assist me in resolving it!"
A surprised Denise Turner responds. "I beg your pardon Ms. Beth!?"
"We are going to the Winchester, Virginia area to begin our search of
your little Jenni. Apparently, she is not the only one that Mr. Fletcher
has liberated. I have tolerated his hounding me for way too long. All of
his attempts in tracking and interfering with me has been inept until
this. He will pay dearly. Jenni and my other little princess that I've
enchanted was allowed to keep their memories of their past male lives.
Once we find them, Chad Fletcher will be banished to the sub-universe
and the two girls will be enchanted into believing they'd always been
girls."
A disappointed Denise interrupts Ms. Beth's malicious contemplations of
her next actions. "Ms. Beth, the enjoyment of knowing Jenni remembering
her life as Rick and realizing that her male adult life was forever gone
was a part of the deal."
Even with evident rage beginning to appear on Ms. Beth's face, she
turned to Denise to give a response to her whining that chilled Denise
to her core. Ms. Beth replied very calmly and measured. "Denise, do you
actually think the only enchantment abilities I have is changing men
into little girls? Trust me, I also have some enchantments for
disgruntled customers of my services. Would you like a display?"
A very horror-stricken Denise responds. "No Ms. Beth, how can I be of
help?"
"We're getting into your car to leave immediately for Virginia."
"I need to go by my house and shut everything off if we're going to be
gone for any length of time. Don't you need to do anything with your
house Ms. Beth?"
A very odd kind of smile began to appear on Ms. Beth's face. "I will
take care of everything with your's and my house dear."
As the two ladies were exiting the seemingly impossible sized room of
Ms. Beth's home to the car that Denise arrived in; shades began to be
drawn on their own, lights turning off, the main water and gas valves
turning to the off position at the Turner home. While at the very same
time as the two women had gotten into Denise's car, the house they'd
just exited began to fade leaving only a lot and a "lot For Sale" sign
in front of the vacant lot.
After a couple of hours driving Denise Turner couldn't hold the question
in that had been bothering her in light of the most recent developments.
"Ms. Beth, I'm afraid to ask this but are you satanic?"
A very amused Ms. Beth replies. "You humans are so two dimensional. No
my dear, I'm not saying the non-physical part of you will not have to
atone once your physical shell ceases to function, but neither the
Shamans or Harpies are a part of that realm."
With that the two women rode in silence towards Virginia, broken only by
occasional utterances of words from an unknown language by Ms. Beth.
Tammy and the girls were impressed by the house, it sat down a very long
driveway to where it actually was slightly difficult to be seen from the
road. Once that the pseudo family had pulled into the circle drive that
was in front of the house entrance, it was quite obvious there'd be
plenty of room for everyone. The girls, due to in no small part from the
enchantment, ran full speed giggling into the house to check everything
out.
Jenni came from the entrance of a long hallway which was fed from a
sunken living room; seeing Tammy admiring the massive fireplace. "Tammy,
you would not believe all the rooms that Caitlyn and me seen!!"
Tammy as saddened as she was for her friend's plight, couldn't help but
smile as the little girl came running excitedly up to her. "Jenni, while
you and Caitlyn were exploring, Chad and I were talking. It's hard to
say how long we are going to be here, while we are each of us are going
to have to get into character."
At that time Caitlyn and Chad were coming in through the patio doors
that led from the living room to an outside deck. "Chad I was just about
to share yours's and my conversation that we had while the girls were
exploring."
"Ah good you hadn't yet. Caitlyn, Jenni, this'd be a good time for the
two of you to test how comfortable the sofa is. You girls have a seat
while your mom and I get you two on board with the plan."
As the girls were walking to the sofa, they both flashed a curious look
at each other.
Tammy caught their glances and tried to alleviate their puzzlement.
"Chad brought this to my attention, and it makes perfect sense. The
floor is your Chad."
"What Tam..., Cindy and I were talking about is how essential it is that
we all develop and begin getting into character. Our cover story is that
we're the family of Chad and Cindy Williams, along with a seven-year-old
Caitlyn and four-year-old Jenni Williams. Thankfully we moved here at
the beginning of summer; that'll allow us to refine our interactions
with each other as a family. That will be very important this fall when
Cindy enrolls Caitlyn into school. I don't know if anyone noticed that
even though Berryville is a small place, we can't get by with isolating
here in this house. This means Cindy, you're going to have to take the
girls to the park and possibly social functions."
With that Jenni jumped off the sofa to jump up and down with excitement.
She had a little embarrassment when everyone looked at her. "Sorry, it's
the stupid enchantment."
Chad looking at Jenni and just smiled. "That's ok dear. That's exactly
what we all must do, simply act normal. Which brings up another issue
for you and me Cindy. Thankfully this house was owned and lived in by an
elderly couple before their kids had to place them in a retirement home.
That's how we came to not only having the house, but the contents as
well. There's three bedrooms; a master bedroom, another bedroom, plus a
guest bedroom. Cindy will take the master bedroom, which leaves a
bedroom each for you girls."
Tammy/Cindy got a strange look on her face. "Then Chad, where do you
plan on sleeping? Don't tell me Shamans don't sleep, because I know you
slept last night at the hotel."
"There's a study with a semi comfortable looking couch in it."
With a little hesitation, Cindy responded. "Are you sure Chad?"
"Well, due to there being a shortage of sleeping quarters, it'll have to
work. Henceforth though, Cindy you and I are going to have to come to
agreement regarding pet names for each other. Caitlyn, you and Jenni
need to start getting in the habit of calling us mummy and daddy."
With that, Cindy couldn't help but laughing. "Remember husband of mind,
this is the USA, we say mommy here."
"Oh right..., Well you know what I mean."
Cindy began having a thoughtful look on her face. "Chad, I noticed all
the utilities are still connected. I don't guess anyone's looked in the
pantry or refrigerator, have they?"
Caitlyn spoke up on that question. "Tam..., Mommy, the only thing I saw
in the refrigerator was some shelves and the light."
Jenni spoke up next. "Mommy, when Caitlyn and me was exploring earlier
me found the pantry, it nots has anything in it eithers."
While Cindy Williams was trying to recall seeing any kind of grocery
store as they were riding through town, she couldn't help once again
feeling badly in how that stupid enchantment had so altered her friend's
speech. "Chad since you are the official man of the house, do we all go
shopping together or do the girls and I go shopping?"
"Actually..., Cindy..., I need to make a call to my Shaman Tribe to give
them a report. Not to mention, I should have the tribe send us some
operating money. After the hotel last night and the one hundred dollars
I'm going to give you for groceries, we're going to need some more money
wired to us. Why don't you and the girls go."
"Ok, sounds reasonable. That means I get to drive your Range Rover?"
"You are my wife, here's the keys."
Even though she'd now been a little girl for about a year and a half,
Jenni still hated having to be seen as a little girl, especially in any
new place. "Do me haves to go, let me stay wif..., Daddy?"
Chad giving Jenni a serious thoughtful look." No Jenni, you need to go
with..., your mum..., mommy. When I talk to my tribe, it needs to be
private."
Cindy Williams looking down at the little four-year-old, and smiling."
Come on Jenni it'll be fun, besides if Caitlyn can do it, you can to."
With that Caitlyn spoke up. "I'm not too sure the older sister wants to
go either."
With a mock exasperated sigh, Cindy tells her two new daughters."
Alright both of you, off the sofa and into the bathroom before we
leave."
Like any other dutiful daughters you'd see in any other household, the
two girls responded with. "Yes mommy."
Cindy was glad that Chad had the foresight to have stopped at a local
department store earlier that morning, allowing her to get herself and
the girls some sleepwear and toiletries. After the last couple of days,
she needed some things and the girls did also. So, now it was just a
matter of getting used to driving Chad's car; finding a grocery store
along with two less than enthused young girls, and finding their way
back to their new home.
Upon driving around the little town of Berryville for the better part of
a half hour, the three females found the "Qwik & EZ Mart" for the
groceries. After an impassioned and convincing argument for Jenni riding
in the grocery buggy, the trio went into the store. An amazing
observation that the new "Cindy" had made when the two girls met and
began interacting with each other, it wasn't that much different than
she did with her sister. Therefore, she shot Caitlyn a (don't you dare
make fun of your sister look) when she hoisted Jenni up into the buggy.
After their shopping and waiting in the checkout line, the slightly
overweight checkout lady that looked to be in her mid 50's commented as
Cindy bought the girls a candy bar off the rack in the checkout line. "I
hope meal time isn't going to be too soon for these two."
Cindy was slightly taken aback by the forwardness of the older lady,
then remembered how older ladies good naturedly would give unsolicited
advice to her own mom when she was a little girl. Smilingly Cindy
replied. "It's been a long day for the girls along with my husband and
myself. Dinner won't be for some time, so they should be fine."
"You're new in town, aren't you? I'm Alice Lawson, my twin sister owns a
daycare should you ever want to use one for your little one there. Her
name is Bea Fulton, her place is called "Aunt Bea's Academy".
Cindy replied graciously from the lady's attempt in offering information
and an opening for conversation. "Thank you, I will remember that. We
most likely will not need her, at least not until we get settled in."
"Oh, you're the new family that bought the Adam's place at the edge of
town on Route 88 aren't you?"
After thinking about the signs she'd seen upon arriving in Berryville,
Cindy answered. "Why yes we are. My name is Cindy Williams." Placing her
hand on Caitlyn's shoulder, Cindy began the girl's introduction. "This
is Caitlyn my oldest, she's seven. This one in the buggy is Jenni, she's
four."
"Caitlyn looks school age. It's too late this year school's already out,
but the next school year just to let you know, we have a very good grade
school in Berryville."
Cindy thanked and paid the kind lady. Upon walking the girls and herself
out to the car, she realized that this was going to be your typical
small town where everyone is nice. She just hoped, not everyone would be
nosey as well.
Later that evening after eating dinner, Chad volunteered in helping
Cindy clean the kitchen as the girls were watching some DVD's on Chad's
laptop, that had been bought at the grocery store.
As Chad reached up to put a glass in the cabinet, he had to reach across
Cindy to do it. "I'm sorry Cindy, I didn't mean to rub against you
putting the glass up."
Cindy giggled a little.
A curious Chad had to ask. "Why are you laughing?"
"You play the British gentleman thing to the hilt, don't you?"
A genuinely puzzled Chad stated. "What do you mean?"
"My take on you is, since you're quite handsome is that you're gay or
shy."
"I assure you it's not the first. For the record, I consider you quite
attractive as well."
For the remainder of the evening it was an awkwardly quite night between
Chad and Cindy. Around 10:30 that evening, the new Cindy Williams
watched as Jenni was losing the fight of staying awake any longer.
"Jenni, do you want me to help you to bed?"
Embarrassed, Jenni stated she needed help to get up on the bed. "Me hads
an accident, me woulds like to take a bath. Also, me can't get up in
bed."
"Jenni, I know this will be difficult for you and me as well, but I
don't mind helping you."
After thinking a couple of minutes, Jenni said "ok".
After helping Jenni get bathed, then taking a bath herself, along with
getting into bed Cindy Williams began to think. I wonder when the last
chance was for Caitlyn to have taken a bath? Ironically Cindy never had
any of her own children. Even getting back into the dating scene after
Martin's wreck and death, not once was there any pregnancy scares. Now
here she was seamlessly falling into a maternal role. Not only that,
upon being honest with herself she was beginning to appreciate Chad's
handsomeness more and more. It was nuts but in the short amount of days
that she's known him, she'd begun to have warmer feelings for him.
Finally, as much that had been done that day sleep came quickly.
A few days later, just before breakfast:
Chad walking into the kitchen seeing Cindy making breakfast asked where
the girls were. "Where's Caitlyn and Jenni?"
"They're out back on the deck playing with their dolls that I'd bought
them a couple days ago at the local department store. What's you plan
for the day Mr. Williams?"
"I thought I'd get a house phone, that way we can get phone service,
internet, and some TV programming. That's another thing I plan on
getting, a TV."
As Cindy was mixing some frozen orange juice with some water in a
picture while standing next to the sink, she asked. "I can understand
the TV service and internet, but do you think we need phone service?
After all, both you and I have cell service."
"As you know I've instructed you as well as doing it myself, not to use
the cell phone because of security issues. Besides with you beginning to
go into town on occasions, if some handsome man asks you for a phone
number you'd need one."
Cindy with a slight grin in knowing she was being baited, responds.
"Having an affair in a small town is taboo. Besides, I have a handsome
husband at home."
"Yes love, but that's just in name only."
With no small degree of nervousness, Cindy makes a bold reply. "It
doesn't have to be."
Chad was standing next to Cindy while she was finishing mixing the
orange juice by the sink. He was reaching for a cup from the cabinet
which was next to the sink, stopped and looked at her for several
seconds. Before either of them considered the repercussions of their
next action, the two gently embraced each other followed by a long
passionate kiss.
Upon untangling himself from the embrace, Chad embarrassedly commented.
"I'm sorry mum, that wasn't too bloody professional of me."
Smiling Cindy responded. "I promise not to report you. I can't believe I
did that though. I've seen you do some weird things already. Then there
is the Harpy thing, which you say they are not human. I don't even know
that you're human, after all you said you were a Shaman."
"Rest assure Cindy I'm human. True Shamans are a different species of
humans, but I'm a human. I was just trained as a Shaman many years ago."
"I know so little about you even in knowing you for a couple of weeks
now. How long have you been a Shaman?"
"As I told you when we first met, in 1878 when my family was killed, the
Shamans took me to their village. They nursed me back to health, then I
chose to stay with them. Over time they taught me how to slow my aging
as well as connecting to a universal network that few humans have even
scratched the surface of."
"You were serious then, Chad that'd make you over 150 years old! "
At that time the girls came in through the patio door from the deck and
asked the age-old question that kids ask. "Can we eat yet?"
Chad and Cindy's conversation ended, but many thoughts and feeling had
begun that morning.
After breakfast had been eaten, the girls went into Caitlyn's room to
play a board game that'd just been recently bought. This allowed the
adults to ponder what had just happened that morning between the two of
them. More importantly, where would the potential change in their
relationship lead them. Throughout the rest of the morning things had
been unusually quite between Chad and Cindy.
Just after lunch, Chad took actions that'd give Cindy and himself some
thinking room, thinking room that'd come to be needed throughout the
coming weekend.
Just before dinner, Chad returned home with a beaming smile and a very
large box. "Hey guys, gather around I've got some great news to share!"
With that Cindy came into the living room from her sunbathing on the
deck along with Jenni and Caitlyn, which were playing chase with each
other in the back yard. "Chad what are you yelling abou..., what's in
the big box??"
"This my family, is the family's new entertainment system. It's a new
50" TV, which right now is pretty useless. That's until Monday when the
phone, cable, and internet is installed."
Jenni despite her best attempt couldn't contain her excitement which of
course was amplified by the enchantment, began jumping around. "Yippee!,
TV next week. I want first dibs to watch the Power Babies cartoon."
Chad couldn't contain how pleased he was in seeing everyone happy about
the good news. "Jenni we're going to choose fairly, we'll all pick a
number out of the hat. The person that gets the lucky number gets to
choose what we'll watch first."
With no small amount of disappointment, being four years old, Jenni
responded with. "Oh, ok..."
It was a welcomed relief instead of having to focus on being concerned
of discovery in Berryville, now being focused on the excitement of
having TV and internet. It was a long weekend for Chad and Cindy, which
had nothing to do with the TV. Thankfully due to the enchantment that
both girls were under, Jenni more so than Caitlyn, they barely noticed
the slight difference in Chad's and Cindy's interaction.
Monday evening:
After most of the evening of watching Nick Jr., since Caitlyn won the
program choosing game much to Jenni's disappointment, both girls were
ready for bed by 10:00 pm. It's amazing how much energy the girls have,
which leaves no doubt it being much more than when they both were grown
men. Still even being little girls now, expending the amount of energy
they do in a single day, has to be paid for in being tired by 10 pm.
Once both girls had been bathed, dressed for bed, and tucked in. Cindy
came in and sat beside Chad on the sofa. "Well we survived an awkward
weekend and the first day of TV, now do you think it's time we talk?"
With a slight mischievous smile Chad asks." Talk about what love?"
With a slight giggle Cindy answers his question. "Don't you do that cute
British act with me mister, you know what!"
"Ah, you mean you not being sure if I am truly human or not?"
After a pause Cindy begins. "Ok I do believe your human Chad, but how's
it even possible you being over 150 years old, not to mention the weird
telepathy stuff!?"
After clearing his throat. "Cindy the Shamans and humans, went down
different evolutionary paths thousands of years ago. Humans focused on
cultivation, tool and weapons making, while the Shamans went down a
different path. Sure, the Shamans did that as well to some degree like
their human cousins, but they continued to develop their instinctual
abilities they used in their more primitive days. It was that focus on
instinct that evolved into the abilities that the Shamans now possess."
"Ok Chad, where do these Harpies come from? Were they normal humans at
one time?"
"No, the ancient Indian tribes had a name for them, which translates to
"Star People".
"Wait, are you saying they're aliens...?"
"No one knows for sure, but that's where I'd place my bet."
"How long have they been here?"
"I'd say the better part of a thousand years."
"You mean since the middle ages!?"
"Maybe just a bit longer than that. What the Shamans learned about them
is, that their value system is much different than ours. They can be
more malevolent. They can do some amazing feats that defy physical laws
as we know them. Thankfully due to the level of evolution that the
Shamans had made with their intuitive gifts, they acted as a buffer of
how much the Harpies could influence humanity.
"So, this is where this conflict emerged that you told me about when we
first met.?"
"Yes, just after the beginning of the 20th century one of the Shamans
came across a woman that claimed she'd been changed from a man to a
nine-year-old girl in 1892. Then in 1918, there was an article in the
paper that said an eight-year-old girl claimed she'd been changed from a
man into the little girl that she was. That's when I was given the
assignment to see if there was Harpy involvement."
"I take it there was...?"
"Yes and no. Ms. Beth broke ranks in what the Harpies allowed. Not to
mention there was the Salem incident."
"What is that?"
What was happening by Chad and Cindy, neither being consciously aware of
it, they were getting closer together on the sofa.
"During the 17th century in Salem Mass. it was discovered that a plant
called Witch Hazel could ward off what was thought to be evil spirits. A
clan of Harpies had set up shop in Salem. They were trying to test the
possibility of the enslavement of humans. Needless to say, when the
colonist discovered the Witch Hazel plant, they were able to use it with
deadly results on the Harpies."
"You mean, the Salem Witch Hunts were in actuality about Harpies!?"
By this time there was very little room between Chad and Cindy, Chad
made the statement of "isn't it amazing how history works?"
After a pause, Cindy looked into Chads eyes. "Do you think we're
establishing history here?"
In not being able to stop his feelings, Chad responds. "Cindy, it's our
history in how we make it."
With that the two leaned forward gently touching their lips to each
other. Within minutes of passionate kissing, the two went into Cindy's
bedroom for the remainder of the night.
The next morning Caitlyn caught Chad coming out of the Cindy's bedroom
while she was up using the bathroom. During breakfast later on in the
morning, the two girls were giggling between each other.
In relying on her new maternal instincts she'd developed; Cindy knew
there was something up with Caitlyn and Jenni. "Alright you two out with
it, what's the secret joke?"
It was Caitlyn that with a mischievous grin directed at both Cindy and
Chad. "It's my guess that there was a visit last night after Jenni and I
went to bed, correct?"
Failing miserably, Cindy tried her best in being as innocent as she
could. "There was nobody that came to the house, we don't even know
anyone except a few of the sales people we've met since moving here."
Giggling Jenni said. "Caitlyn didn't means somebody came from somewhere
else, her means there was a visit between two peoples here at the
house."
With a small chuckle, Chad spoke up. "Cindy, I think we were busted
since Caitlyn saw me coming out of your room this morning. What would
you girls think if Cindy and I began being like real married people?"
With a conspiratorial grin Caitlyn looked over at Jenni. "Jenni should I
ask them?"
This piqued Cindy's curiosity, ask us what? "Come on Caitlyn, you have
to tell now."
Jenni smiling ear to ear told Caitlyn, "go ahead it a gooders idea."
Caitlyn finishing up her juice, fidgeted nervously in her chair. "Since
you two are going to be like real married people, Jenni and I would like
to start acting like real sisters."
Now it was Chad's turn to chip into the conversation. "How exactly would
that be?"
Caitlyn looked at Jenni to prompt her to finish up their sales pitch.
"Caitlyn and me became friends when mommy and me gots to the hotel. That
was when you two were planning what was going to happens next. Since
we've been here's in Berryville and havings our own room, we been
talking it be so much more fun if we hads just one room we shared."
With a surprised look on her face Cindy asked the two girls. "So, you
two want to share a room like real sisters?"
With a broad smile on her face, Jenni hops down out of her chair and
walks between where Chad and Cindy were sitting. "Yes please."
Upon Cindy looking at Chad. "Well daddy, since you and I are going to be
acting like a real married couple, I don't see why these girls can't
start acting like real sisters."
Chad responds', "it just means I'm going to have to move some
furniture."
Caitlyn looks at Chad. "Daddy, Jenni and I will help you because it
looks like we're becoming a family."
With that Cindy giggled. "Yes daddy Caitlyn's right, it does look like
we're becoming a family."
Chad just sat there shaking his head when Jenni asked. "What is it
daddy?"
"I'm just trying to think how I'm going to put this in my report to my
Shaman Tribe."
Then it was everyone's turn to laugh.
Alice Lawson, the checkout lady at the Qwik and EZ Market turned out to
be a perfect conduit for Cindy William's social life in Berryville. Even
her husband Fred, talked Chad into meeting the guys at a local Diner
called, The Greasy Spoon, for breakfast on Saturday mornings. With no
small amount of misgivings Chad and Cindy even used Alice's 16-year-old
niece, Felicity Brice, in babysitting Caitlyn and Jenni a couple times
while the two adults went to enjoy a dinner and a movie with each other.
Before everyone knew it, Summer had turned into pre-Fall. School was
enrolling for grades Kindergarten through sixth grade. It was time to
enroll Caitlyn into Berryville Grade School.
While holding on to Jenni's hand and filling out forms of the school's
front office for Caitlyn, Cindy recognized a pretty dark-haired lady
enrolling her little boy; that she'd remembered seeing when Chad and she
was on a recent dinner and movie night. "Hello I hope I'm not
interrupting, but weren't you and your husband at Henson's Diner a
couple of weeks ago? My name is Cindy Williams."
The dark-haired lady turned from combing her son's hair, a little boy
that looked to be Caitlyn's current age, smiled at Cindy. "I thought I
recognized you. Yes, my husband Pete and I were there celebrating our
ninth wedding anniversary, my name is Jillian Bruce." "This little guy
here, that I'm trying to get two hairs going the same way, is my seven-
year old son Dennis Bruce."
"Is he going to be in Mrs. Stewart's class?"
"Why yes he is. "
Cindy could see that both Caitlyn's and Jenni's enchantment was in full
force as both girls were holding on to the back of her dress while she
talked to this lady." These two shy girls of mine is my seven-year-old
Caitlyn, she'll be in Dennis's class. This one behind my left leg is my
four-year-old Jenni. Say hi girls."
With that Caitlyn and Jenni came around to the front of their mommy and
spoke to the lady.
"Cindy, I got all the papers that Dennis needed signed. How are you
doing with Caitlyn?"
"I just signed the last form when I noticed you."
"Great, Miss Brunson just came and gathered up the kids that are going
to be in her kindergarten class. Mrs. Riley will be here any moment for
her first-grade class. When we get our little ones settled in, would you
and Jenni like to join me at the new breakfast place called "The Coffee
Mug"? I hear it's got great waffles that I'm sure Jenni would like."
"I wonder if they'd have booster chairs for Jenni?"
"The one day that Pete took Dennis fishing I decide to join my
girlfriend Elly and her little three-year-old Franky there, they had
booster chairs then."
"Ok, sounds perfect. Let me call the house and let Chad know that Jenni
and I will be a little late coming home."
"Great, I'll call Pete and let him know I'll be home a little later as
well."
Later at the diner:
After the little blonde waitress had seated the two ladies and got Jenni
settled into her booster chair. "So Cindy I take it your husband, your
girls, and you aren't natives of Berryville?"
"No, we moved here at the beginning of the summer from out of state,"
"I hear a Texas accent, are you guys from Texas?"
"I am, my husband is British."
"Oh, how cool. Pete and I both grew up around here, I'm actually from
Winchester. How did a girl from Texas meet a guy from England?"
"We actually met in Pennsylvania when I was on a sales seminar. We fell
in love, and the rest is history. How did you and your husband meet?"
"Pete is a construction supervisor, and I'm a secretary for the same
company. At the company Christmas party, fate just crossed our paths.
What kind of work does, what's your husband's name?"
"Chadwick Williams, he hates when he's called that. So, I just call him
that when we argue. Which hasn't happened in a long time, so I mostly
call him sweet heart or Chad. He's a consultant, basically he makes
money sitting at home"
Jenni was just looking around the diner, being bored as the two adult
ladies got to know each other. The young waitress brought the ladies
their coffees and a coloring printout and crayons for Jenni.
"Ok, now to get down to business of ordering. Jenni dear, what kind of
pancakes would you like. I see they have blueberry pancakes, would you
like those?"
"Yes mommy, and stick sausages to?"
All of the role playing that the pseudo Williams family had done over
the Summer was really paying off. As long as Caitlyn does well in school
today, Jenni and Cindy seemed to be holding their own in expanding their
social circle in Berryville.
A bemused Jillian Bruce looked at Cindy with a questioning expression on
her face. Laughingly Cindy Williams shed light on what Jenni was talking
about. "Stick sausage is what Jenni calls link sausages."
With a smile developing on her face, Jillian responds." Aw, how cute.
You know, my sister-in-law and brother has a little girl about Jenni's
age. Would you mind if I called Charlene and ask if she and Penny, her
daughter, wants to join us? My brother's house is only about a block
over, if Charlene isn't too busy, she'd love to meet you especially
since your two girls are the same age."
"I don't mind, and I don't think Jenni would mind."
Within 15 minutes Charlene Carter and her daughter Penny had joined
Cindy and Jillian. Once Penny had been placed in a booster chair next to
Jenni, the ladies began to get to know each other. Jillian, being a good
hostess began introducing Charlene and Cindy. "Cindy, I didn't tell you
before that I prefer to be simply called Jill and we call Charlene,
Char."
"Nice to meet you Char."
"How did you meet Jill?'
"My other little girl Caitlyn, is in the same class as Dennis."
"Oh, then she's in Vicky's classroom then." Jill looked over at Cindy to
clarify who her sister-in-law was talking about. "That would be as in
Miss Vicky Stewart."
With a look of realization of who Char was referring to, Cindy smiles
and responds. "Ah, ok. Then Miss Stewart is about the same age as the
rest of us?"
"Jill, you and Vicky are the same age aren't you, 35 years old?"
With a laugh Jill Bruce replies to her sister-in-law's question. "Shh!
that's a tightly held secret."
With a smile Cindy interjects. "Don't be too embarrassed Jill, I'm only
three years younger than you."
At that time the waitress brought more coffee and the breakfast that the
ladies had ordered during their chatting. Both Jenni and Penny began
enjoying their pancakes and stick sausages.
Charlene looks over at Cindy and asks. "So you're 32, how old is your
husband"
"He's a little older than me."
At that time Jill cut in. "Char, her husband is British."
Charlene looks over at Cindy and good naturedly mentions. "You don't
sound British."
Giggling Cindy replies. "No I'm from Texas, long story."
Taking a break from her omelet, Jill responds after doing some thinking.
"You know ladies with Vicky, Char, Cindy, along with myself being
roughly the same age; Char and Vicky just signed up for yoga classes,
maybe we all can do that together."
Char struck by how good the idea sounded, filled things in with some
input of her own. "With Vicky teaching, the only time she has is
Saturday morning. Aunt Bea's Acadamy is open for a half a day on
Saturdays, so I could drop Penny off there."
Cindy was beginning to like the idea, and was excited that she actually
knew some of the other people that made up Berryville. "Yes, that's Mrs.
Lawson's sister."
Impressed with Cindy, Char asks. "So, you know Alice? I was under the
impression you were new here."
Feeling a little prideful, Cindy replies. "We've been here since the
beginning of Summer; Mrs. Lawson was one of the first people that I'd
met."
Jill laughingly adding her two cents to the exchange. "Alice is somewhat
of an institution here in Berryville. She's a bit of a busybody, but
very sweet. Char I think you have a great idea, what do you think Cindy?
Also, it'll let Jenni have Penny as a playmate."
Cindy enthusiastically replies. "I like it, I'll bring this up to Chad
during dinner tonight. Speaking of, I need to get back to the house.
Lunch isn't that far away; Chad gets grouchy when he's hungry."
Noticing Jenni had fallen to sleep after having eaten her pancakes and
being bored with the grownups chatting, fell asleep. Cindy washing off
the syrup on Jenni's face with a napkin, that ended up on her little
girl's face instead of in her belly. Cindy lifted Jenni out of her
booster chair, and began saying her good-byes to her new friends while
holding Jenni in her arms. The ladies having set the stage for a new
developing friendship, gave each other good bye hugs and went their
separate ways. Not knowing that on the horizon, a storm in the making
was brewing.
Epilog
As the Summer progressed, the girls began to develop a closer sister
bond, as well as Chad and Cindy developing deeper love for each other.
Their lives in Berryville is just beginning, many aspects of this story
are developing simultaneously. You now have not only has Rick Turner
been missing for over a year and half now, but Tammy Wallace is missing
as well. This of course leads us to what has to be a very angry Denise
Turner. In the time since Tammy's rescue of Jenni, Denise has been in
constant contact with the (person) responsible for Jenni's existence now
instead of Rick's. This (person) would be none other than Ms. Beth. Due
to this turn of events, Ms. Beth's commercial endeavors has caused the
potential spotlight to be shown onto the Harpy community, which is not
received well by the community. The Shamans continue to support the
Williams, but is Chad's camouflage enchantment going to be good enough
over an extended period to protect the small family in Berryville. With
Caitlyn's enrollment into Berryville's grade school, how seamless will
that be. Once Caitlyn is in school, what will four-year-old Jenni's life
be like then? Over time it will be inevitable that Chad and Cindy
Williams are going to be pulled into the social structure of Berryville,
will that cause potential peril for the sleep little town? There are
many unanswered questions for this young family on the run. My question
to you, could you leave some feedback to let me know whether to explore
these directions for the Williams's? I hope you enjoyed the storyline
thus far. :)
