The other girls laughed, and Beth turned bright red. “No,” she replied, eyes downcast.
“Something you want to talk about?” Becky asked between bites of her sandwich.
“No, I’m good.” Beth took another bite of her sandwich, avoiding eye contact with the other girls.
The Circle had rules. If you wanted to talk about ANYTHING, you could; no judgment, no repercussions. Conversely, if you didn’t want to talk, no pressure.
“You remind me of… who was that? Veronica something… She sat next to me on the bus on that overnight field trip to the Natural History museum, remember?” Stacey asked.
“Yeah… Ronnie. I remember that trip.” Laurie replied. “She was walking funny, had a glazed look in her eye. Fidgety.”
Rebecca spoke up. “I know her! And I know why!” She leaned into the circle. “She lost her virginity on that trip.”
Stacey chimed in. “So it's true! It was one of the college chaperones, wasn’t it? The tall blonde one?"
"I think so," Becky replied. "Man, she wanted SOOO badly to tell everyone, but knew she had to keep quiet until we got back.”
"Lucky girl!" Laurie added.
“Well, they’re still an item. He’s taking her to Prom this year.” Becky added, “And she still walks a little funny from time to time.”
“At least we know that’s not why Beth’s been acting so weird.” Laurie looked at her and winked. Beth stared back at her, though, which took her aback. “Right, Lizzie?”
Beth looked away and went back to eating in silence. She felt a hand on each knee and looked up to see the concerned looks from the rest of her Girls.
“Beth…” Stacey whispered. “We’re in the Circle.”
The time had come. Up until today, this was a judgment-free zone. Even when they were talking about their thoughts and, frankly, fantasies, this was crossing a line. All that could end with what she was about to say.
She put down her sandwich and placed a hand on each of the hands on her knees.
“Okay,” she replied with a sigh, thinking ’here goes nothing.’ Deep breath. “I fucked my dad last night.”
“No way!”

“You lucky bitch!” They all turned to look at Laurie for that last comment.
“Well, she is,” Laurie continued. “Ever since we talked about it the other day, all I’ve been thinking about jumping my dad’s bones. A LOT.” Nods all around. “So I stand by my initial statement. You. Lucky. Bitch.”
Stacey squeezed Beth’s knee. “Spill. We have fifteen minutes left for lunch, so don’t you DARE leave out ANY details.”
Fourteen minutes later, they were all flushed, and horny, and extremely jealous.
“So…” Beth asked, “Be honest; am I a terrible person? I wanted it so bad and I… I dragged him into it, and… and… and all I can think of is how I can’t wait to get home and do it AGAIN. So tell me the truth; am I a monster?”

“You guys are kidding me.”
“Bitch, Please!” Laurie said. “I’ve been having the same thoughts about my dad, and I am definitely jealous that you got with your dad before I could get with mine.”
“She’s right,” Stacey added. “I’ve been thinking about all the dads, especially mine. Every time he smiles at me now, I wonder, ‘Is he thinking what I’m thinking?’”
“Mmm. Me, too,” Becky chimed in. “I heard my dad in the shower this morning… and all I could think about was joining him.” More nods. “I had to stop myself from just walking in on him in the bathroom.”
“Shit!” Laurie piped in. “Last night, I was walking around in a tight camisole and my lace panties, hoping something would happen.” Smiles and more nods.
“So?” Beth asked.
“Well, he definitely noticed, that’s for sure.”
“How do you know? Did he say something?”
“Not exactly. We were sitting on the couch, watching TV, and I noticed he kept re-reading the same two pages of his book, for, like, an hour, until he got up, said he was going to make it an early night, and went to his room.”
The lunch buzzer chose that moment to ring. As the girls cleaned up their things to make their way inside, Stacey said to Laurie, “So you still didn’t say how you KNOW he noticed you.”
“Easy. After a few minutes, I snuck up to his door and heard him grunting and moaning, and I just knew he was jerking off!”
“Well,” Beth opined, “That’s circumstantial at best.”
“Really?” Laurie exclaimed. “Well, after a minute or so, where I could swear I heard him call my name and he let out one loud groan, so he must have orgasmed.”
Becky asked, “You just let him go at it? Didn’t you want to go in and help him out?”
“My hand was on the doorknob the whole time.” Laurie sighed. “I heard him moaning, but I… I just couldn’t open the door.”

Laurie smacked her arm. “I’ll say it again; you lucky bitch. I’m gonna try again tonight. You’ll see.”
Beth smiled. Once Laurie got her competitive streak going, there was no stopping her. If Beth was a monster, she definitely wasn’t the only one.
“WAIT!” before they walked into the school, Becky said, “Remember; what is shared in The Circle can never leave The Circle.”
