He introduced himself as Master Gray. Though Abigail thought the Master title to be a little odd, her mother didn't seem to notice. "If you don't mind, there are some formalities I need to go over with you regarding your daughter's stay here," he said once they had taken their seats.

"So this form just states that Abigail will be staying here under my care for the two and a half months, and officially releases her to me."

"I told you that this was a summer program, and that implies that you will be here for the summer, now compose yourself, Abigail."
Abigail sat back and crossed her arms, glaring at her mom.
Master Gray continued holding out documents for Caroline to sign. "This just states that in case of emergency I can take her to hospital or police station, and this one just states that you completely understand and agree with my methods of teaching."
Caroline just nodded and signed each piece. Abigail frowned at that last statement, what method of teaching requires a signed contract?
"That's all for you Ms Cathasaigh, this last form is for Abigail to sign. It just says that you understand why you are here and all of the clauses that come with it. It's just a formality."
Abigail rolled her eyes and took the pen, scribbling her name on the line. She could have sworn she saw a smirk on Gray's face as she did. When she dropped the pen on the table, Gray stood and extended a hand to Caroline. "That's all done, and I can assure you that your daughter is in safe hands here."
"Thank you, Master Gray, I should get going now, I have to be back in town for a meeting tonight."
He nodded and escorted her to the door with Abigail not far behind, suddenly a little afraid of being left alone with this man in the middle of nowhere. But there was nothing she could do to stop her mother from getting in her car and driving away.
Gray turned to Abigail and gestured up the stairs. "Why don't I show you to your room?"
She nodded and followed him up the stairs. He showed her to a large but sparse bedroom on the first floor, complete with an en-suite bathroom. Apart from the bed, vanity and wardrobe, there was nothing else in the room bar a lonely armchair.
"There is a study across the hall for you to do your work. We try to separate personal from work space, it helps with concentration."
Abigail nodded and dumped her suitcase on the bed. "So what are the classes like here? Do you just make me do maths equations from 9 to 5 every day?"
"Not at all Abigail. This course will teach you a variety of different skills in cooking, music, gardening, English, maths and many more. I hold your lessons on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, but I am responsible for your disciplinary actions all the time. On Wednesday and every evening but Sunday, you will be working with Ms Wallows, who is our fitness instructor and horse rider. On Saturdays, you have your music lessons and gardening with Mr Davids, and Sundays are for art and baking. Every evening you will be cooking with Ms Harriet for dinners."
She stared at him. "I have to do all that?"
"That is what this course is about. I'll leave you to unpack, you have your first lesson with Ms Harriet in 30 minutes, please meet her in the kitchen, and don't be late."
Abigail lay over the table, clutching the sides, trying not to think about the cane Master Gray was swishing behind her. She was cursing herself for talking back to him, knowing her poor ass was going to pay the price. She clenched tight just as the first swat landed on her ass. It wasn't as hard as she expected, and as he settled into a rhythm of light swats, she relaxed, only to be met with a hard swat right across both cheeks, making her cry out in surprise.
