The Same Night, Friday 11 June - [Janet - the Dean's wife]
Jim stood up when the bell rang and went to let him in. We had been waiting for Robert to come after he had telephoned.
I was nervous now that the moment had arrived. It had seemed so straightforward all those weeks ago when Elizabeth had come to see me. We had known each other for years and had often conspired together to manipulate our husbands as they rose through the college hierarchy to positions where their influence counted and needed guiding. This time it had been different. Elizabeth was dying and it was only with me that she could let go and let me see the bitterness and anger at her fate. She had confided her plan to me that bleak day in March. I had been appalled at what she planned to do, especially as the girl seemed a most unlikely candidate, but Elizabeth had been serenely confident in her judgment. She had even found out that Sarah Franklin had a crush on Robert. So, unwillingly, I had been drafted in to make sure her plan did not miscarry.
The two men came back in and Jim courteously held the door so that I could leave them once I had greeted Robert. I put my arms round Robert and hugged him. He at least had all my sympathy.
I sat down and Jim looked startled.
"I need to stay, with your permission, Robert," I said, looking at him and avoiding Jim's eye.
Robert was clearly nervous and keyed up but he nodded and looked at Jim.
Jim hesitated, mystified. But we had been together for so long that he trusted me to have both his and the college interest at heart. He closed the door and offered Robert a drink. Robert hesitated and then accepted a whisky. I knew he must be nervous because he rarely drank spirits.
I broke the embarrassed silence that was threatening to drag on.
"Tell us about Miss Franklin, Robert. We heard that she'd gone home. Is she better now?"
"I've just spent the day with her and her parents. Her dad's a mean snooker player," he replied, grinning and clearly grateful for the lead.
A good start, I thought. If her parents knew and approved then that was one of Jim's worries out of the way.
Robert looked at Jim and said, "I'm not going to try and conceal anything or make it seem better than it is. Sarah Franklin and I going to create a scandal for you I'm afraid."
He outlined the facts, scrupulously avoiding any of the advantages that Elizabeth had left him with.
When Robert had finished, Jim grunted and started in on his Dean-ly tirade. I let him put himself in the wrong for a while.
"This was exactly the sort of situation that the college chapter were worried about when they decided to admit women." He sighed, "I'm not going to go through all the arguments - you and I have been through them before when I thought you were on my side. You know that the rest of the University is looking at us - willing us to fail. And there is a big faction in the college that want women out too."
He looked at Robert puzzled. "You're the last person I'd have expected to do this. It's monstrous with your wife just dead that you should be carrying on with one of your students. She's a young vulnerable girl and you've really offered no explanation other than you took advantage of her."
Jim was suddenly exasperated by Robert's silence, "Robert - you're not helping me. I don't believe that this is what it seems, knowing you. But unless you'll give me some explanation I'm going to have no choice but to ask chapter to withdraw your Fellowship. I might be able to avoid sending Franklin down if you can tell me that she was not the - principal in this."
I could see tears in Robert's eyes as he struggled to sort his thoughts out. It was enough and I got up and went to kneel by Robert. I put my arm round him and kissed his forehead.
"You're too honourable for your own good," I told him.
I turned to my husband and warned him, "I'm afraid you're not going to like this but it's clear that Robert is just too decent to tell you. He can only explain by making Elizabeth look like Machiavelli and by blackmailing you."
"Janet, no!" Robert realised that I knew enough to spill the beans.
"Janet, yes!" I told him. "I know because Elizabeth told me everything. She knew you wouldn't be able to tell so she enlisted me. I can't say I approved but I'm beginning to think that she was right. And if I know then there's no reason for Jim not to know. Most of it needn't go beyond the three of us, but Jim has to know or he can't do what Elizabeth wanted."
Robert sat back with his head in his hands, "Jim," he said, "I really didn't want this. Perhaps it would be best if Sarah and I just left."
Jim looked a bit taken aback, "Both of you? There's no need for Franklin to go if you do."
"No! We have to be together," Robert was fierce now.
"Jim! Robert! Listen to me," I needed to get them in order.
"Robert, have you slept with this girl?" I asked.
"She's still a virgin," he replied and I was amused by his careful choice of words.
"You'll swear to that and she'll support you?" I prompted.
"Of course."
I looked at Jim who was now relaxed and smiling faintly. It was very nice to have a husband who trusted me implicitly. "Right, so there has been no technical immorality. Agreed?" Jim nodded, but Robert looked uncomfortable.
"The next thing that Robert hasn't told you about is the details of Elizabeth's will. Sarah Franklin shares half of Elizabeth's estate with Robert - without strings. And that is a lot of estate." I looked at Robert for confirmation. He nodded.
Jim's eyebrows were halfway up his forehead. "Are you telling me that Elizabeth set this up?"
"Not as coldly as you imply," I admonished, "She made sure that two people that she loved would find each other after she died. She was pretty sure that they were already strongly attracted."
"Sarah never had any doubts," Robert said, "and I don't either - not now. Jim - I will not leave that girl and she won't leave me."
"There's more," I said, "Do you want to tell or shall I?"
Robert shook his head.
"There is a bequest in Elizabeth's will for a new accommodation building for the college." I said.
Jim nodded - he knew about this.
"That bequest is dependent on Robert being a fellow of the college for the next two years." I went on remorselessly.
Jim blinked, "She can't do that."
"Can and has," I told him.
"Jim - I wouldn't enforce that condition - its just blackmail," Robert was anguished.
"It's not your choice, Robert," I told him, "If you aren't in post then the money for the bequest goes to Elizabeth's children - yes?"
He nodded and added, "Well, I'd provide the money in that case - I've got plenty. I wouldn't want to see the college suffer."
"You haven't got enough any more," I was beginning to enjoy this and I could see that Jim was too.
I went on, "Half your money belongs to Sarah now. Just think how it would look if the new building was funded by a sacked fellow and a rusticated student."
Jim put his hand up to stop me. "Let me summarise Elizabeth's devious strategy. One, you are not guilty of immorality and you have the girl's welfare at heart - how are you going to demonstrate that?"
"Well I can't marry her yet." Robert was hesitant.
"You certainly can't - I'm not going to have that kind of arrangement in college. You can be engaged, but no marriage and no children. OK?"
"I haven't asked her yet," Robert was suddenly struck with an omission.
"Well buy the girl a ring and get it done." Jim was being very unromantic.
Jim went on, "Two; You're suggesting that I discreetly let the Bursar know the condition of Elizabeth's bequest and invite him to condone Robert's philandering - because I'm assuming that you are intending to conduct immoral acts with this young woman."
I broke in, "Don't be so horrible. Of course they want to live together even if they can't marry yet. Just cast your mind back thirty-five years! And the girl is twenty for Heavens sake."
Jim looked fondly at me, remembering. "I wasn't being horrible, just putting myself in the shoes of Tom Buckley and the anti-progress league. They seem to believe that this is 1873 rather than 1973 and they have enough votes in chapter to make things very difficult."
This session was beginning to get out of control. I held my hand up, "I haven't finished yet. Elizabeth suggested that you should make your support for Robert conditional on three things - one that he runs the college finance committee for the Bursar and second that he lets his name go forward for the head of the History department."
Robert was firm, "No, absolutely not. I will not work with Buckley and I'm not going to make myself a laughing stock by letting my name go up for head of department."
Jim changed sides quickly, "Look Robert, I've been trying for months to get you to help out with the financial side of the college affairs. Tom's overwhelmed and you've had plenty of experience managing Elizabeth's affairs. She seemed to have more money than the College does - I've never understood where it all came from. Andrew wasn't a rich man and I'm damn sure you weren't when she married you. You could enlighten me some time. But it really isn't good enough for you to keep up this feud with him. I'll tell Tom that you will act as his deputy and take over all the boring stuff from him. He's an astronomer, not an accountant and I know he really does have work he wants to do. And you're to do it gracefully. He'll be friends if you offer him an olive branch. He may well be prepared to overlook your immorality."
Robert pulled a wry face, "And I'm a historian with work to do. All right. I'll do that for Sarah - but I will not apply for Miles' job. Never."
Jim was on top now and Robert had no chance. Elizabeth had picked the two issues closest to his heart and given him a potent weapon.
"That is not the point. As you well know Miles is happy to keep the Chair of Modern History but he wants out of running the department. You practically run it for him anyway. You'll do the job well and you'll love doing it. You'll be able to get your own way. And the college will gain the prestige. It'll put one over on the older foundations to have a big part of the department seniors here. I've done my share in medieval history. It's your turn now."
"No!" Robert was adamant, "I would never get the votes and I'm not qualified. There are holes in my scholarship that would be a perpetual embarrassment. I refuse."
"As before, that is not the point. I know that Elizabeth used to translate Latin for you - now you've got Franklin and she's a good medievalist. She can take over. But the department is modern history and your scholarship is not relevant. Your vision of where the department should be going, your teaching abilities and your ability to get the best out of the staff is what counts."
Robert was hesitant and Jim was kind enough to throw him a lifeline, "I don't suppose I should tell you this, but I've sounded out enough of the staff. There won't be any embarrassment. You've got a lot of people on your side. Anyway, I want you to do it. I'll let Miles know. Right, there we are. I think I've got just enough to convince the opposition, as long as you and Franklin agree to be discreet. Give me a week to sort it out."
"No. Monday. Or the deal's off." Jim was startled by this adamancy and so was I.
"Robert, give me a break. You know I need to have a word with a few people. What's the rush?"
"I've sort of promised Sarah - that things would be - resolved - by Monday."
"OK, you can tell her that things are resolved now. Just wait a bit before you do anything that might upset the opposition."
"No! Monday is important to Sarah. I've given her a bad time. Don't make me break a promise. Please."
"Jim," I was fascinated, but I had an agenda too, "Elizabeth suggested a third condition that you might like to impose. It might speed things up."
The two men stared at me, mouths gaping.
"Elizabeth suggested that Robert and Sarah might like to jointly sponsor a fellowship in radio astronomy."
The silence dragged on. They were baffled. I let them think about this until they admitted bafflement. There are times when it is good for the souls of intelligent men to be purged by the superior wisdom of women.
"What is Tom's discipline and abiding interest?"
"Well, he's an astronomer - has been for years." Jim said.
"That's a physical science, yes?"
"Of course," even Robert knew that.
"Physical sciences are significantly under-represented in this college?"
"That's the way it's turned out - yes," Jim was still baffled.
"So a new physical science fellowship would boost Tom's standing?"
"I suppose so. I think I've heard of radio astronomy, but... ?" Robert was equally baffled.
"Benjamin tells me it's a coming thing. Mullard have put a lot of money into the subject. You must have seen all those wire mushrooms out along the Bedford Road."
"And..." Jim was nearly there. Oh! What a wonderful thing to have a husband who trusts you - even when you are teasing him."
"Tom has a post-doc who is a star radio astronomer and needs a fellowship."
They looked at me for a long-stretched minute. Even Elizabeth had been reluctant to use this weapon.
"No!" said Robert.
"Yes!" said Jim, his face creased in a beatific smile. "Perfect! Could you afford it?"
Chapter IV When they got to the gig, Will, the drummer, was just setting up. He nodded to George and Isolde as he fiddled with his equipment. The bass player hadn’t arrived yet, but that was no surprise. He had told George three months ago that he was playing a wedding in Ocean City “on a Friday afternoon, for God sakes! Doesn’t anyone get married on a Saturday anymore?” he had rhetorically asked. “Maybe they got a three-day weekend special,” was George’s laconic reply. “Yeah. So now they are...
NovelsChapter X George woke up full of welts, and itching all over. His back and neck were stiff from sleeping hunched over. He scrunched up his face, and could feel the dried salt on his cheeks. He rubbed his chin and cheeks with his right hand as he turned his left arm toward the light filtering through the front window, and peered at his watch. It said 3:15. He got up and walked into the house as he tipped the bottle up and chugged his now warm beer. He set the empty bottle on the kitchen...
NovelsChapter V Isolde woke up drenched in sweat. The sun was beating down on her and her hair was plastered to her forehead. Her hip ached and she had a crick in her neck from lying on it wrong. She looked at her watch. 9:00 it said. “Damn,” she thought. And then, “I really have to pee.” She sat up and looked around. She was in a field that had recently been mowed. The stubble was about four inches high. There was a woods line about 100 yards to her left. To her right, she could see houses in the...

NovelsChapter VIIISunday morning, after they had all had coffee, Terry and George took the canoe out to go fishing, and Isolde wandered around inside the house, exploring. She found the pull down attic stairway in the upstairs second bedroom, and went up in the attic, just to see what was there. She found several rolled up rugs, and assumed they were in storage until winter. There was an old Electrolux tank vacuum cleaner, and she hauled it, and it’s attachments down into the main house. Maybe I’ll...
NovelsChapter XVIII Wednesday morning, they all three awoke at the crack of dawn. Isolde wondered if their new-found camaderie, or maybe love had recharged all of them, and made them want to wake up early, to be together.George spoke first, saying, “Good morning, you two. I love you guys.” Then, springing out of bed, and turning toward Isolde, he said, “If you don’t mind, I’m gonna hop in the shower first, so I can get my ass off to Glen Burnie.”“Are you sure you don’t want company?” Isolde asked,...
NovelsChapter XVI While they were sitting out on the porch, George started having second thoughts again. He was sitting in one of the rockers, with his feet up on the crossbar, and suddenly sat forward, and planted both feet on the floor. He stood up and turning, said over his shoulder, “I gotta got to the bathroom. I’ll be right back.” He went through the front door and down the hallway. After he left, Isolde said to Terry, “I think he is having some approach-avoidance issues with this whole...
NovelsChapter XIII It was just 5:00 when Isolde pulled into the driveway and parked behind George’s VW. George and Terry came out of the house to greet her and she said, “Here – each of you grab a bag of groceries. Watch that one, Terry – it’s heavy.” She had bought several cans of soup, and some tomatoes and the rest of the ingredients for marinara sauce, and the store bagger had put all of the cans in one bag. “I forgot you were gonna have to rent a car,” said George. “We have to do something...
NovelsChapter XVII As he began to remove the sheets, George suddenly realized that it would be silly to take his standard sheets into Isolde’s bed, when it was a king-sized mattress. So he stopped pulling at the sheets, and simply picked up his pillow, and went back across the hallway to Isolde’s bedroom. He didn’t know exactly what he expected when he walked into the doorway, but what he hadn’t counted on was the musky smell of recent sex that permeated the room. He had a momentary pang of...
NovelsDedication This dedication is long and necessarily so. The book has taken me three decades to write, mostly because I didn’t start actually putting pen to paper, so to speak, until I had all my background ducks in a row. Putting ducks in a row is like herding cats; patience becomes the primary virtue. This book is Tom Woolfolk’s fault. Well, actually, Tom’s and Sheila’s jointly. We three commuted to work together for a few years in the early eighties, and during those long and boring rides,...

Cockatoo Part 4 Return From Bangkok It was late afternoon by the time my flight left Bangkok and dusk began to fall about halfway back to Koh Samui. Lights from the fishing boats in the Gulf of Thailand began to glitter like tiny jewels in the gathering darkness. I could make out the dark shape of Koh Tao, and I shivered at the memory of what had happened down there only a few weeks ago. How close I had come to death in the cold, dark water, and how, given a second chance at life, I was...

Cockatoo Part 19 I live for feedback [email protected] We finished dinner in the restaurant, then walked upstairs to the flat and sat out on the terrace, drinking and talking about what our next steps should be in the plan to launch the new club. We threw around ideas for possible names, some better than others, and we provisionally settled on Cockatoo Cabaret as a tie in with the bar. I also mentioned that when I had googled Koh Samui Blue, I discovered there were barely...
Cockatoo Part 6 I live for feedback [email protected] We stayed wrapped together until we began to fall asleep. Alex eventually turned over and I spooned up to her back, she pushed back into me, turned her head around and we kissed good night. As I drifted off to sleep I heard her say softly, "Chan rak kun, James, I love you." The day dawned as most do in Koh Samui with bright sunshine. Alex was up very early making a lot of noise as she got ready for our day ahead. We had...
The Theory of Toon Physics By: Lyrissa "And that, ladies and gentlemen, concludes today's lecture. I know that maybe about half of you were even listening and of those maybe fifty percent understood what I said, but the exam is next week nevertheless," Professor Brown said to the class at large. There was a subdued groaning and mumbling among the students as they started gathering up their phones, pads, sketchbooks and whatever else they had scattered around their seat during the...
Cockatoo Nikkie Silk It’s a cliché, isn’t it? Man comes home early and finds his wife in bed with someone else. Only slightly less of a cliché in my case, as the ‘someone else’ was my wife’s closest girlfriend – closest in every sense of the word. It was a quick divorce, no k**s, only a rented flat, so the only squabbles were about books and cds. In the end I told her to keep the lot. I wanted to make it a clean break. I managed to fit all I owned into the boot of my small car. I was 28...

I didn’t know if Alex or Areeya had mentioned the job to her, so I didn’t say anything, preferring to leave it to the...

Chapter IX Terry was in the bathroom when Isolde got to the top of the stairs. She rapped her knuckles on the door as she went by, and said, “I’m next.” She heard a muffled, “Okay.” A minute or two later, Terry came out of the bathroom, carrying and drying his hands on the towel. He handed the towel to Isolde, saying, “I guess you will want this.” He went into the bedroom, and lay down on his back on the bed. As he waited for Isolde to finish whatever she was doing in the bathroom (putting in...

Ben pushed his face against the locker’s metal grille, desperate to get one last look at Amy as she strode away. She had such a sexy walk with her swinging hips hugged by tight white cotton trousers. He could see the slight bulge of the keys in the back pocket as her body pulled the fabric one way then the other. He watched her dark hair flow behind her, desperately hoping for one last turn of the head and one last smile. Yes, there it was.All too soon though, Amy had disappeared from sight and...
BDSMIntroductionThis episode continues from Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The Three Bears must be out playing in the forest, because they don't appear in this story. So there is no opportunity for any sex with a****ls, or indeed between a****ls (to avoid upsetting Jenny Cumslut). We discover that Goldilocks has an identical blonde twin sister, named Spike, and they used to play a masturbation racing game involving bed knobs. Unlike the previous story featuring the ch1ldren Jade and Grace, there is...
One morning Uncle Bear cooked them some porridge for breakfast. As the porridge was too hot to eat, the Three Bears decided to take a walk in the woods while it cooled. They had not been gone long when a young girl named Goldilocks came along. She had been picking flowers and had wandered into the woods. She was very pretty, her long curly golden hair tied back from her freckled face with blue ribbons, skipping along in a short, pale blue, lace-edged dress so occasionally her yellow...
There was once a family of three men, who were known locally as “The Three Bears” who lived in a cozy cottage in the woods where they worked as lumberjacks. There was great big, more than seven foot tall “Daddy Bear”, medium size six foot four “Uncle Bear”, and a shorter, eighteen year old “Junior Bear”. They got their name from the huge quantity of thick black body hair that covered them, complemented by bushy beards, their stocky stature (not to mention rather round bellies in the older two)...

Virginia Mendez was still topless, sitting in one of the couch of the living room. Her ample tan breasts jiggled as she roared with her raspy...

The Keyholder?Just that please.? Ben mumbled as he nervously placed the steel chastity cage and padlock on the counter. He was on his way back from drinks with the football team and the elation of winning combined with the alcohol had given him the courage to finally indulge one of his fantasies. Careful not to make too much eye contact, he glanced briefly at the woman behind the counter, who smiled kindly as she wrapped the cage for him and took the cash. He was now really starting to feel...
Our Mercedes cruised in moderate speed, leaving the mall - where I just did my first task since I joined my team as one of the disguise specialist impersonating the Goldmans?: interviewing a dangerous member from clandestine movement. I glimpsed at children playing around at the sidewalk. Old people at caf?s. T...
In a time not long ago, a young girl named Goldilocks had just turned eighteen. It was a warm summer day when she decided to take a stroll in the forest. It wasn't long before she noticed the aroma of food coming from the trees off to the right. Taking in a deep breath, her large breasts rose up and the buttons popped off. The warm air on her bare skin felt good. Being hungry, she followed the scent and stepped off the path, not bothering to cover up.It wasn't long before she saw a log cabin...
Fantasy & Sci-FiOnce upon a time there was a girl named Goldie. Her parents were very mean to her. Like, they made her actually clean her room! And come home on time when there was a curfew!! And be respectful of old people, like her lecherous boss down at the Hit and Miss Drive In, where she wore roller skates to take food to people!!! It was a real bummer for Goldie, but her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lox were serious about her growing up to be a proper woman. They made her eat her vegetables at every meal too,...

Jandaeng was being taken under guard to hospital to have treatment on his arm. They were jumped between the prison and the hospital, and he was...
Cockatoo Part 10 I live for feedback [email protected] We woke early as Alex had to be at the airport to catch the flight with Kritsada at 7am. He was going to pick Alex up from the flat in his car as he headed off to the airport. I was going to follow a bit later as I had to collect Samantha from her flight for our planning meeting. I lay in bed and watched as Alex got ready to leave. I didn't think I could ever tire of watching her as she moved about the flat showering...

Cleaning for Master HoldenJoanne works for Rock Creek Maids three times a week: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. She only works in the mornings, and usually not past noon. The maid service employs twelve female Rock Creek residents and four male residents, all part-time. Joanne likes working there. The other maids are friendly, and most of the customers are really nice. Her part-time job provides her with some supplemental money so she doesn't always have to go nagging to her master for a few...
"Just a reminder, Grasshopper. This is your boss speaking...,"Mendez's statement was cordial. Her voice though, was stern and commanding. There was no doubt. The accent and the inflection. It was all hers. Virgina Mendez. Even though I've spent several months with her as my "father", I rarely heard her speaking with her real voice. Usually she only addressed me under her guise of Bruce Goldman, the father of Kimberly Goldman, the cute 17-year-old whose identity I...
Author's Note: This story contains some elements of reluctance (turned into willingness), as well as lesbian sex. I hope you enjoy =)-----------------------------Kristen awoke to find herself in the yard of a house... but not the kind of house that she was used to. This house was more of a cottage with a thatched roof... although larger than any cottage she would have ever pictured. Staring at the unfamiliar scenery for a moment, she felt a breeze blow across her body and looking she realized...
Group SexThe girls were trapped but they could just see Jeff and me gesturing towards the ladies' room as obviously as we dared and they got the hint of our desperate plan. "Ok, we'll do whatever you want, but first let Amy go take a piss and let me get this monster of a plug out of my ass. I can't even walk let alone fuck with this huge thing in me." We heard Toots loudly say in what had to be a stage whisper meant for us. It didn't give much time to get our plan underway, but it was better...
Chapter 1Maddie Goldberg bounced her thick white ass on Reshawn Titus's black cock like she was tethered to it by an elastic cable. She moaned and ran her fingers through her wavy dark hair and slammed her body down and down and down onto the black man's rod. Reshawn guided her with his meaty hands on her hips, digging his fingers into her smooth pale sides and letting her round white ass recoil as it collided with his sturdy thighs."Ride my dick, you little Jew whore-piece, ride!"Throughout...
"Wake up — it's time to get divorced!" Now those were words to get a man like me excited! That woke me right up and got my complete and undivided attention! We had a slight detour or two getting out of the door though. Her bags were already packed and my small overnight bag was still out in my trunk but we got a tad distracted while in the process of more thoroughly greeting each other while she changed out of her uniform. In fact, at one point we were both nude on her bed kissing like we...
"Ah Mr. Masaki!" The man behind the counter said in surprisingly fluent Japanese. Tenchi had never considered himself racist, but hearing his native tongue from an someone of such obvious Jewish origin, without a trace of accent was ... Well, just plain odd. Not that 'it' coming from what appeared to be a floating wooden log was any less strange. "Or a bronzed, elf eared, blue eyed blond bomb shell for that matter!" He thought with a smile. "I understand you need some custom sizing...
Cockatoo Part 11 I live for feedback [email protected] It was at this precise moment that Areeya looked up, stared straight into my eyes and winked. I staggered back in shock. Areeya must have seen me when she glanced at the door. Either that or she was some kind of a witch. I managed to bang my knee as I stumbled backwards and it was a miracle I didn't scream. I made it back to bed and managed to fall asleep but slept fitfully for the rest of the night. I can remember...
Cockatoo Part 20 I stopped dead in my tracks. "What did you say, Pao?" "Miss Sam, she meet the man. The horrible man. Nin follow him and saw them talking." "Was Nin sure it was Sam?" "Yes, Mr James, she say she saw them clearly outside hotel he staying." I couldn't believe it. What the hell would Sam be doing with this creep? Areeya was now well ahead of me on the way to Cockatoo, I didn't want her to hear this until I go there. "Pao, please don't say anything to Alex or...
As I walked into my house, I heard my mom's voice ringing from the waiting room. I threw my bag to the sofa and slumped on the lazy chair in the living room. I turned on the TV and started flipping the channel around. There's nothing interesting on TV now. I just pressed the buttons on the remote frantically while enjoying how the screen beamed rapid images of music clips, interviews and cartoons. "Kimberly? Is that you, honey?" I didn't want to reply as I knew that mom had...
Thousand of feelings crossed my mind at the moment Mom and I walk out from the elevator in the mall. What I had thought as an ordinary trip to the mall turned out to be my first solo assignment. Can I nail this mission? Fear, doubt thrill and excitement mixed together in my head, creating an uneasy feeling. I tried to keep Kimberly's bubbly expression intact. I had to maintain her beaming gaze. This was not the first time I went to the mall as Kimberly. I spent many times here with...
As Mom led me to our front door and open it, I could feel the summer breeze tenderly blow my hair. She held my right hand and we strode across our small lawn towards the Mercedes. It was the mid of September and even though autumn was approaching, the sun shone brightly. I covered my hand with my left hand and the colorful bracelets on Kimberly's wrist chimed. "It's very hot, here" I complained with Kimberly's whiny tone. I paced slower and pulled my hands from Mom's grip while putting...
The sudden darkness engulfed me as I felt every muscle in my body was rapidly switched-off one by one. In that split second, my reflex told me to resist. But it was useless. It was my first blackout and I remembered feeling afraid. One thing managed to slip into my thought before my mind and my body plunged into an infinite absence of light. My first solo mission. A failure. Man, am I gonna die?! All of a sudden, an overwhelming force bombarded me and pulled me to...
William Lester taunted me about my pronunciation of certain words, especially those beginning or ending with 'th', but I tuned him out. I was having trouble concentrating on my study and didn't need any more distractions. What Jeannie had said about she and Cindy being grounded had given me a jolt. What Mr. Baldwin said about me no longer being welcome in their home had really rocked me. As far as I was concerned William Lester could go fuck himself. I wasn't in the mood to joust with...
Maybe things could have been different, I don’t know, but I found myself in a taxi on the way to Samui airport. I was struggling to come to terms with what had happened and I felt physically sick at what I had heard. I had to get the taxi driver to stop so I could retch at the side of the road. I managed to buy a ticket on the next flight to Bangkok and by mid afternoon I was back in the city. I booked into a hotel close to Nana Plaza and sent a couple of hours stewing in my room, drinking the...
