Prologue
Eighteen and a half year old Cecilia lay in bed with Patrick, the man she had married six months ago. He loved her as much as any man could have. She was happy with him, but she lay there now and cried. For though she loved her husband, he could never hold the one place in her heart that a husband should. Deep in her heart and soul, Cecilia loved another. He was one she could and would never be able to claim. The one who was dearest in the world to her. The one she would willingly give her life for.
It was at this point that the baby in her belly kicked as if chiding her for those thoughts. She moved her body slightly so as to placate it and then settled back down. Her head was on her husband's shoulder and one leg partially over his, but she still cried, tears of regret and love. Love for him and regret because she could never address her husband with the two words that meant everything in the world to her. She would never be able to address her husband as "my Master" because that title belonged to the one she loved above all others, his father, Gabriell, the father of her baby.
