Ken and Sensei had yet to decide on a ranking system for them, and so just settled for the gray sash. However, because everyone who was Circle was stronger and faster than most people, they were all quite dangerous. "Man, you from farm country or something?" asked Donald, the man sparring against Eric.
"Nope," smiled Eric, "I'm all SoCal."
"All right," smiled Donald, making 'come-on' motions with his hands, "let's see if you got the moves, man."
Donald was fast and he was strong -- one of Sensei's best fighters, in fact. Not quite as good as Chad, but, until Ken had come along, Chad had been the best -- despite his shitty attitude. The action was fast and furious, and people were laughing and clapping as the two huge men went at it.
"Oh my god, I think I'm in lust," muttered Kate, one of Sensei's students.

"Both," said replied the woman.
"Both? Ambitious aren't we? A combination like that could be hard on a girl."
"Oh yeah," replied Kate.
"I could talk to Eric for you," offered Niki.

"Uh, no... considering what those chicks he came here with look like, I don't think I'd get his interest."
Donald was the more experienced of the two, but Eric had strength, speed and stamina on his side. It was a close match, but Donald beat him on points.

He hadn't sparred yet, although Ken had fought several bouts.

Now he really went after her. Jane blocked all his incoming shots smoothly, seemingly unconcerned. Chad knew he was hurting her -- even blocking a shot took something out of you -- but the problem was she didn't seem to think he was hurting her. So he ramped up the speed and strength of his blows.
Jane blocked them all, but returned nothing. Chad thought it was just because she was too busy blocking his attacks, but discovered differently when he received another snap kick to the stomach. He didn't go down, but it was clear the kick hurt.
"Point to Jane," said the ref.
"That's it, bitch," he said, "You're going down."
"I love to go down," she replied, smiling sweetly. "If the person has anything worth going down on."
Sensei stood and said nothing, simply watching the action unfold. He knew there was little Chad could do to Jane that would really hurt her. Of course, Chad didn't know that, and it showed in his attacks, which were way out of bounds for a friendly sparring match. As Chad grew more angry and aggressive, Sensei felt sadness fill him. It was clear he had failed as Chad's teacher, and he wished that he knew how to fix his errors.
