The news I got from the county was terrible. "I'm sorry to tell you this, but this land won't perk." the inspector said.
"What exactly does that mean?" I asked.
"It means the ground around here will not support a septic tank. So you can't get a permit to build a septic tank, or a permit to put a house of any kind here." he said.
"But I have a zoning waiver," I said.
"If you had a sewage disposal system, you could put any thing here your waiver covers, but without that permit from out office you can't put a tent on this lot." He said.
"Isn't there something I can do?" I asked.
"Yes, we can grant a waiver, if you put in a holding tank and have it pumped out every so often," It's cheaper to install, but it will be more expensive in the long run. You have to have it pumped out on a regular schedule and that could cost about a hundred dollar per pump." he said.
"Well I own this land and I have the first unit on the way in the morning, so I'm going to have to get a holding tank installed." I said. "You don't happen to have a family member in that business do you?"
"What are you implying?" he asked.
"I'm not implying anything, I am asking for a referral. Any company who does the work in a way to meet your requirements will do," I explained. I noted the Brit left me alone with him to work it out.
"There are three companies, who do work in the county. Either of them is going to do about the same thing. You can probably get an estimate on the phone that will be pretty close," he said. That was as much as I could pen him down.
It was too late to bother with it all, so I just smiled and began plotting how to destroy his life. When I cooled down, I forgot about him.
"So, should I ride the trike back, or do you want to," The Brit asked.
"That's up to you." I said just a little short.
"Then I think I will ride it back," he said. "There is nothing else to do here until tomorrow."
"No, there isn't but I'm going to Mary Ellen's store before I go home," I informed him.
"Will there be violence?" he asked.
"I wouldn't think so. If there is, it won't last long and I don't need any help." I said.
"Very well, I do remember where her store is. If your car is there when I get there, I will stop just to look around. I do love a good cat fight. If it is not I will go back to your apartment." he said. I nodded my agreement.
Mary Ellen wasn't in the store, so I pretended to shop. I went into all the dressing rooms, and both the ladies and men's room. "Can I help you find something," the cute little teenager asked.
"I need to see Mary Ellen's office," I said.
"She wouldn't like you looking around in there," the teenager said.
"She most likely won't like the cops poking around then," I said handing her my cell phone. "You might want to give her a call."
"Mary," the kid said into the phone. "That crazy girlfriend of yours who looks like a guy is here. She is insisting on looking in your office." Then she handed me the phone.
"What the hell do you think you are doing?" Mary Ellen asked.
"Mary Ellen, shut the fuck up and just listen. The Brit is on his way. Now we know you are helping Jeff and Phil bug my apartment. When he gets here we are then going to kick your fucking door down and recover the recordings. At that point I will call the police and have you charged with tapping my phone without my permission. Of course there is breaking and entering to plant them as well. So unless you can convince me this is harmless bullshit right this fucking minute I'n going to start kicking down doors. I grant you we might share a cell in county lock up tonight, but so be it."
"Calm down Sylvia. Jeff and Phil just wanted to record some conversions about the business to play over some stock footage that is all. There is nothing to it. It's not like we are going to the cops."
"No and it's not like you broke into my house and recorded me without my permission. I'm going in your office and I am taking all that shit to my apartment to review it. With or without your fucking permission, so to save your door, you need to tell Goldie locks to open the fucking door? I said really losing my temper.
"Well, put her on," she said.
At exactly the same time The Brit walked in and the girl unlocked the office. I explained to him what had transpired. He asked, "Did she tell you where it is?" he asked.
"No and I didn't ask," I said.
It took just a moment to find the receiver and laptop under her desk. I took them both. "You are going to return those aren't you?" the teen asked.
"Is this your shit?" I asked.
"No," she said.
"Then it's none of your fucking business," I said and walked out of the shop. I glanced back to see The Brit backing out of the shop. He was watching my back. I was impressed.
When I was getting out of the car in the driveway, he pulled up on the trike and maneuvered it into the space front of the car.
"Are you calm yet?" he asked.
"I won't be calm till I review this file and kick the shit out of Jeff and Phil," I said. "I don't want them in jail, I want to beat the shit out of them."
"We could do that easily and probably get away with it, but do you really want to over a bunch of recordings that probably don't mean anything. Cut your ties with them and tell them that next time you will cut off their penis," he suggested.
"Why can't you be sociable," the belligerent drunk asked. "Just go away and leave me alone," the young woman replied. He put his hands on her, which was the step over the line as far as I was concerned. I walked up and showed him my badge. "You need to go on home. You can either leave here now and come back, or you can wait for the manager to ask you to leave in which case you won't be welcome again." I tried to be calm and reasonable. "Bullshit, I ain't going nowhere," he...
Life fell into a boring routine quickly. It had been a bore since the first month and it stayed that way for eight months. It was out of the blue. when something really exciting happened. It was sad, but that didn't change the fact that it brought excitement to the Sheriff's department. Some hikers found a child's body wrapped in a tarp. Since she was wrapped in a tarp everyone jumped right to murder as a cause of death. It took the Medical Examiner three hours to rule that it was indeed...
I glanced up as the commander stepped into the room and everyone quieted. He looked at me, “Morpheus, take Swift, Taylor, Samson, Adams and Michaels. They had a prison escape on Devlin.” I nodded and stood, “How many?” He shook his head, “Nine.” I grabbed my bag and started towards the lifts. The other marshals followed me as I dropped to dispersing. We had a four hour wait in the starport before boarding a shuttle up to the cargo transport that was headed to Devlin. There were only a few...
The state cable news network called me at the motel but on my cell phone. It wasn't the man from the crash, it was a chick who claimed to be his producer. It looked to me as though they were trying to be a real news agency. "Hi there, you are Deputy Sylvia Porter?" she asked. "I am. Who might you be?" I asked. That's when I found out about the producer thing, "So what can I do for you Miss Producer." I didn't even bother to file her name into my short term memory. I didn't expect...
Wayne and Carl both went straight to the yard to let the others out, so they could go home, too. They went and gassed up both trucks, and parked them, and Wayne got in his car and went home. Carl went into the office to see if anything had happened to require his attention. His Office Manager, a lady of 29, was there waiting for him. She was a bit overweight, but still attractive. She was divorced and had 2 k**s. One was 6, and the other was almost 4. She never talked about her ex-husband, or...
No golf, no tennis and no sex until my bone specialist, my neurologist, and my cardiologist all cleared me. The first two quacks were some guys at the hospital. Dave was my cardiologist. "You never told us Uncle Dave was a doctor." Juan complained yet again, as we set up the table for the party. "So what?" We'd had this discussion over and over for the last two months. "So? What if one of us wanted to marry a doctor?" Ian suggested. "Uncle Dave's pretty hot." I glared at him, but...
"So Lois what is it that you need to talk to me about?' I asked it once her door was closed. I knew that leaving the microphone capsule at home would really piss Gwen off, but I didn't care. It would probably be good for her in the long run. "I know that my lease says that no one can stay in the apartment more than 7 days without being on he lease. But my son is coming to spend the summer in Aster. I would like for him to sleep on the fold out sofa in the living room. Do I really need to...
A man met a beautiful lady and he decided he wanted to marry her right away. She said, "But we don't know anything about each other." He said, "That's all right, we'll learn about each other as we go along." So she consented, and they were married, and went on a honeymoon to a very nice resort. So one morning they were lying by the pool, when he got up off of his towel, climbed up to the 10 Meter board and did a two and a half tuck reverse piked with a double twist. This was...
Blain Benton, Connie's ex-boyfriend, had been having a hard time. First, Connie had left to go live with Denise, leaving him with all the bills to pay. (Not that he ever paid anything.) Yesterday the manager of the apartment had given him notice to vacate. He had managed to acquire a little money only a few hours ago when he burglarized a small grocery store. He had been just a couple blocks away when he had seen the flashing lights of the cop car arriving at the store. The damn cash...
The weekend went as fast as Thursday and Friday. All six of us spent 4 hours Saturday and Sunday in the gym working on upper body exercises on Saturday and lower body on Sunday, plus an hour each day on the treadmills. Courtney joined us both days. Saturday morning she was pumped up. "I got a call from the APD chief this morning. Three things hit his desk at the same time yesterday afternoon. Someone had put a color picture of the banner welcoming me as director from the lobby, HR had sent...
The first thing Laura wanted to do after The Dream was see Karen. It was almost an irresistible urge, since the dream had been about her, and about the vise, and the fisting they had done together. But their last time together had been so traumatic for them both, so excessively painful and perverted (and so much fun! Laura thought wildly), that she feared it was too soon to meet again. They were dangerous for each other and had to ration their meetings. Every one seemed to be more intense...
“The first duty of a revolutionary is to get away with it.” —Abbie Hoffman, Steal This Book THE REST OF OUR AFTERNOON was spent preparing for our evening taping at the Jefferson Memorial. We were thankful for Remas’s guidance through the intricacies of approaching the memorial with our bus, unloading, carting our instruments and equipment, and getting set up. Six helpers were onsite, dressed, like Remas, in National Service shirts and slacks with an orchestra emblem on the sleeve. Donna...
These are compliments of Fmwarmac Years ago someone in California... Years ago someone in California hollered “Gold,” and people drove from all directions. That’s the way they still drive in California. What do you want for Christmas? The Santa Claus at the mall was very surprised when a young lady about twenty years old walked up and sat on his lap. Santa doesn’t usually take requests from adults, but she smiled very nicely at him, so he asked her, “What do you want for...
Friday morning was another early morning breakfast with the Emir Bello. The Secret Service brought him to White House at 0600. I was sitting at my desk in the Oval Office discussing the Saudi agreement with General Ingram. An advance team from the Air Force would arrive in a few days from our airbase in Ad Dammam. At one look the map at the base at Ad Dammam made one question the necessity of adding another base in the area. But to have armor and infantry so close to Iran made a lot of...
Adam found he felt sorry for Wilma Scott. She had masqueraded as a physician for several years. Most people she dealt with naturally assumed the title "Doctor" meant M.D. Adam had assumed that and so had every one in his group of friends. Not only had she been found to be a fraud, she had pushed herself into a confrontation with a sharp-witted woman with a grudge who had no trouble using Wilma's ill-conceived words and arrogance against her. AMS provided a valuable service for the adult...
The Johnson/Goodall family had been in Sacramento for just over three weeks and they were already on their way to becoming "rich." Eddy had collected $56.25 in wages as a deputy marshal and their company had collected $300 for delivering heavy freight more quickly than the customer had expected. Eddy had already been contacted by potential customers for other jobs which they were now ready to handle. Over the next week, Jeb and Josh earned $53 for moving a load across town in two trips and...
The state had pulled my certification. Without it I was unemployable, even as a game warden. That really hurt, not that I really wanted to back to being a rabbit police person. Even if I found a small town police force that wanted me, they could hire me without that certification. I could bring an action against the state but if the damage to my hand proved to be long term, I would lose. I doubted that any court anywhere would force them to do any more than make a monetary settlement with...
"I looked, but I couldn't find the interview with her lawyer anywhere," I admitted. "She says we offered to forget her attempted escape, if she had sex with us." Simpson said. "It's not believable that we conspired to have sex with her," I said. "I wouldn't worry about it. I'm going to tell the truth which should remove any suspicion of criminal activity. I hadn't planned to mention the escape attempt at all, but appears I'm going to have to do it." "Yeah, I agree. Just try...
The room was warm and it really felt good. I had been standing out in the cold wearing just my running suit and the light parka for well over two hours. I made short work of stripping off the running suit and hanging it on racks to dry. After that little domestic chore, it was on to the hot shower. I also washed my new peach fuzz of course. I was dressed in a clean uniform and in the office well before nine. I didn't think that was too bad, since I had been waylaid for quite some time. "So...
The well dressed business man walked into Hardee's just as I sat down to review my tape from the night before. More importantly to me was the last three hours. I was occupied so even though I noticed him walk in the place, I didn't keep track of him. When he sat down at the table I paid a lot more attention to him. "So are you Randal Davis king maker or one of his flunkies?" I asked. "You know, if I wasn't Randal you really would have pissed me off with the flunky comment," he...
Eddy went back to the jail and made sure that the prisoners were properly taken care of. There was a problem of crowding, but none of the other prisoners were willing to be in the same cell as the Chinese giant. Finally, everybody was sorted out and the handcuffs were removed. Eddy sent the temporary deputies home with his thanks and the request that they all come back at 1:00 PM tomorrow. He had something important to discuss with them, but he needed to get to Bill's parents' house before...
My last night on swing shift was a bust. Even so I slept till noon the next day. When I awoke I took a shower, then dressed in my jeans and one of my forest green tee shirt. I wore one of the several men's white dress shirts over it. I also clipped the off duty holster onto my belt before I slipped on the medium weight parka type field jacket. Being a military police person would have allowed me to steal all the uniforms I wanted, but I bought mine from the surplus store just outside the...
I looked up as the commander walked out of his office. Amanda shifted to follow my look, “Something up?” The commander headed towards us and I nodded, “I think we just got picked for something.” He stopped in front of my desk and tossed a data stick, “Grab your things. A prisoner died in custody on Gable. They need a officer to head the investigation.” I glanced at Amanda, “Our custody or the constables?” He turned away, “The constables.” I stood and Dragon leaped from her perch while...
It was late Sunday evening and I had used the time that day to get over my various pains. It had been an interesting experience and now I that I had rested, I was a little less terrified. I was however still very concerned. I knew that I would have just to wait to see. The waiting would be hard but at least it wouldn't be forever. The shelf life of an amateur sex video was very short. They would likely post it only on one site if at all. It just wasn't likely to be seen by anyone who...
Spring had come to the mountain, and it was glorious. I have survived the last two months without being involved in any of Mary Ellen's projects. I did pay off the Monk for saving my life, otherwise I had been celibate. How did I do it you asked. Well everybody showed me a lot of love at work and the community seemed to appreciate all that I had done. I guess I didn't need the love of a strange man to justify my existence at that particular time in my life. I was reporting for the new SOU...
From my vantage point behind the low line of brush I watched the approaching vehicle. It was moving along pretty good and I flipped the switch on the remote in my lap, activating the radar gun mounted on my dash. It was a high tech unit, one of the latest on the market, and it automatically recorded the highest speed of the oncoming car. Good thing too, as the driver obviously was in possession of a "fuzz buster" since the nose of the car came down as the driver hit the brakes hard. I...
Even without the splint, the flimsy donut box would have been a difficult item for me to carry. With the splint, I had to use it as a resting place and hold the box in place with my good hand. Yes it sounds painful because it was. Still it would be short lived as I parked right outside the door to the courthouse basement. That basement was used by the Sheriff's office. The way over weight receptionist took the donuts and made a big fuss over me. "Sylvia what in the world happened to your...
Yeah I felt like a dumb ass while I waited the hours in a cold house for the emergency delivery of propane. I could have brought the small commercial cooking burner in the house to get some heat, but I chose to heat the small box in front with a ceramic electric heater. It didn't get warm but if I sat right in front of it, I didn't freeze either. The delivery man came after lunch, but that was okay. I couldn't be pissed at him for my stupidity. He left me with a bill for $376.00 it was...
"What's going on?" I asked Deputy Letter. "They raided Edward James Allen's house. There was no one there but it appears there had been a struggle. The SBI lab guys took lots of samples. They are going to be checking for DNA matches." Letter said. "So what are they thinking," I asked. I almost hated to hear it. "From the neighbors they heard that the husband and wife fight all the time. They have been expecting something violent anytime now," Letter informed me. "What I don't...
By the time I got to my room it was 5AM. Some of the state highway workers, who stayed at the Motel, had already begun to stir. If I had gotten into my room an hour earlier, I would have likely just fallen into bed and passed out. Since people were moving around, I knew that if I didn't run, I would lay awake filled with guilt. I refused to clean up though. That being the case, I dressed in my tight fleece running pants, and my tight long sleeve fleece knit shirt. After that I wrapped my...
I looked up from the stack of reports I was going through and marshal Edwards grinned. He was a short stocky man with grey hair and a wicked sense of humor. I glanced at Dragon as she looked up expectantly and sighed as he slipped her a small piece of sweet meat, “What now?” He laughed, “The boss wants you.” I looked at him closely and then stood, “Dragon guard my desk.” Edwards shook his head in mock sadness as I headed towards the commander’s office. A few of the others looked up but...
There were three consolidated schools in Warren County. Jennifer Austin had attended elementary school at Southeastern Warren. The principal greeted us with, "It is just awful about Jennifer. Do you have whoever did it in custody?" "To be honest, we are still investigating. That's why we would like to speak with Jennifer's teacher. I did call yesterday to set up the appointment," Simpson said. The tone of his voice was almost friendly, at least for him it was. There was just a hint of...
I wore the cap from the parking lot of the plaza. I would have worn it out of the store, but that would have looked a little odd. Like walking across the parking lot in a deputy's uniform with a thug's knit cap. I couldn't fit my current baseball cap I had over the knit cap. Since I couldn't wear both, I carried the knit cap in my hand. My first stop was to head back to the station for a larger baseball type hat. I figured with the shaved head and all, the Chief Deputy would be thrilled...
I wondered all the way home, if that had been what one would consider my first date since becoming a Deputy Sheriff. The thought of that made me laugh, I got home and checked to see if anything had happened on my computer. Nothing had, so I slipped into bed, I slept till 7AM the next morning. Though technically it was a work day, I saw it as the last of my break, since I started the midnight shift rotation. I hated midnight shifts and so did ever one else. I was working the patrol division...
The time seemed to be going by faster than before. I still hated the time I ran, every damn second of the thirty minutes. All I could hope for was that it passed quickly and it did. I looked for something to occupy my mind and it come lately in the form of the party at Gypsy Allen's house. The question was also in my mind was what in the world did they do there. What had gotten the 7year old killed was of course the big question. Of course there was alway the who dun it. By the time I made...
By the time that the SBI lab boys got through with the scene, it was past midnight. I was on overtime, but I didn't mind. I was enjoying the prospect of hitting the meth lab. "So do you want to volunteer to stay over and go on the strike team. We need to get in there before the word get out that we are on the way." Michaels said. "You know I want to see it through to the end. I want to see what a working meth lab looks like. I only seen them on TV." I said. "It doesn't look like...
The ten days passed slowly but they did pass. I went back on light duty, It wasn't all I hoped it would be. but I was back at work. It sure beat soap operas on TV. The first morning I went in on the day shift, even though my squad was on midnights, I was not allowed in a car as long as my clearance was only light duty. I expected to be filing reports and answering the telephone. Which is exactly what I did. "So how you like it on a desk," Simpson asked me early on my first day...
I drove home at five in the morning, more than a little upset by Learners comments. No I didn't have a lot of forgiveness in my heart. That was the church's Job or maybe even the ADA's job, Cops were supposed to pick up the bad guys. Somebody else had the job of deciding their fate. If he got me bounced from the unit because of this I was going to be pissed. I fell into bed without even taking a shower first. I was tired and my ribs hurt slightly. It was a minor pain, but it was always...
Learner and I staked out a construction site the first night back. Sure as hell a couple of idiots tried to steal pipe from the site. I let the truck get inside the site where it was nice and bottled up, before I slipped the grandmother car into the neck of the bottle. If they planned to bring their truck out of the site they had to drive up and surrender. Just to be safe Learner walked in and confronted them. They jumped in the truck and tried to make a run for it. I stopped them at the...
"Jeb, do either you or Josh know how to handle a shotgun?" "No, neither one of us ever fired any sort of gun." "OK, we'd better get you fixed up with some, then. Let's find a gun shop and see what we can do. You're going cross country with that there mining equipment, so you'll need some way to protect the oxen. Back on the train, we weren't bothered by wolves and such, but you might be, being that you'll be a lone wagon." "Josh, tell your sister that we'll be gone for a...
Eddy had one point on his side: the first time he fired his shotgun, people would come running. He just had to hope that they would get there soon enough to do him some good. He figured that he was hidden well enough in the dim light that the thugs would have a hard time spotting him. Eddy had a problem that he didn't see any way around: he couldn't shoot just because he didn't like their looks. They had to make the first move. Maybe they would try something illegal so he could shoot,...
So I mashed in the Colonel's run. I put in 15pounds of corn and all the stalks I had left after I ground them. Then I added the yeast and let it begin to work off. For two weeks I made myself seen around town. I talked to a few people I knew and who could help me, if I decided to run for Sheriff if couldn't hurt to have their advice. The advice was all the same, try to turn your negatives into positives, admit to everything, and make a joke of it. The Colonel Martin Mash was working and it...
We went back inside to finish our breakfast. An older man came by to leave his card on our table. "You never know," he said smiling." "Bob you are a defense lawyer, now why in the world would I need you," I asked. "You never know when the Sheriff will get a hair up his ass toward you," He said. "Well Bob, if the Sheriff gets a hard on for me, I'll give you a call." I replied. "I might make you a special price, you never know," the older man said. "Fair enough I laughed," as...
It was late and I still had several reports to review and four requests to decide on. I glanced at the door when a dragon flew in and landed on a chair back. I sat back and then grinned, “It has been a long time Samantha.” The dragon chirped and was answered by her mother on her nest. I looked at the door as an older Cambra walked through it and she grinned, “Hey kid moving up.” I came to my feet and moved around the desk and caught her in a hug. I stepped back, “Where have you been?” She...
I went home and worried. I had no way to tell who knew what, so all I could do was act like everything was normal. If I were a Los Vegas Odds maker, I would make it about 3 to 1 in my favor. I wasn't trying to be optimistic there were just so many thing that had to go wrong to get me busted. I had the Boyle brother's phone number and I could call, but I swore I would never contact them again. So I would have to wait till tomorrow at work, when I could pin those in the raid down. My chance...
Deputy Marshal Zack Wilson walked into The Silver Dollar Saloon the same way he did every night if was his turn to make the nightly rounds. He went up to the bar and said hello to Jim Hanson the bartender and owner. "How's it going tonight, Jim?" "Oh, 'bout the same as usual. There's a few miners here I ain't never seen afore, but they've been mostly quiet and drinking their beer. OH, SHIT! LOOK OUT, ZACK!" Jim grabbed Zack's arm and jerked him to one side as a thrown knife whizzed...
Rodney and I settled in to wait for the boss, or at least the rental boss. I had time to assess Rodney in full daylight. He walked with just a slight almost unnoticeable limp. He was not quite six foot tall and probably one hundred and eighty pounds. He was the color of coffee with just a touch of cream. There was some white in his gene pool for sure. His hair was too short to be in the least curly. As I think I said earlier he looked like he might have been a gym rat. Joan Pacer arrived...
"Look Sylvie, we have to make this look convincing. We want whoever is bugging you to think I'm an old boyfriend," He said it quietly over his beer. "Exactly how far to you think I am going to carry this charade?" I asked. "That depends on how bad you want to know who is bugging you. Believe me I don't want to be here. I have better things to do with my time, don't I?" he said. "Look that cockney accent is going to wear thin in about an hour. I have heard you speak with hardly...
I rode the bike on Friday for two hours. As I had begun to do lately, I went to the Cafe on the Square for breakfast. There was usually a deputy or two there, and since Mary Ellen was a local business women, she was a topic of conversation around there. Even if there were no cops, there was always some news that someone had gotten from a cop. The latest thing was the cops thought they might have a good lead. I thought, if the lead is the camera men, it was about fucking time. I said nothing....
"I swear to you Sylvia I don't understand why people are buying that stuff. I don't like the taste of it and I don't like the quick high I get from it." The Brit said. "I know, hun but people don't always make sense. As a matter of fact the one thing you can count on when dealing with people, is that they will all act irrationally at some point." I said. "Yeah, that is true enough. So what's the thrill?" The Brit asked. "Jim says it's designer drugs. Something nobody else has....
Jeremy was working on the catered meal. "We were calling it a counter rally. A political rally with barbecue and no politics. It was a hell of an idea, even if it was mine. While he did that I went back to thinking about a new car of some kind. The cruiser really was breaking down a bunch, and that meant a tow bill just about every time. Fortunately the breakdown had been during daylight and in area's with cell phone coverage. I was worried that it might not always be so cooperative. I...
When I woke up, it was the next morning and Juanita the pubs only female employee was standing beside me. "Miss Sylvia is there anything I can get for you." "To be honest I could use some pain killers, and a cup of coffee," I said. "What kind of pain killers?" she asked. Get me some Tylenol extra strength and some Aleve,"I said. "Mostly honey, I really want coffee." "I will bring that and send Jeremy for the drugs," she said. She was back with the coffee and the Tylenol almost...
"Why on earth would I do that?" I asked. "Because, they tell me I'm good company for one thing. For another you have to eat anyway, and I would pay," he said. "Of course you would pay, that goes without saying, but I think I will pass. You can try again some other time. Right now I have too much on my mind." I said. "Come on, I did some checking. You don't have a boy friend and you live in a motel. You can surely make time for one dinner with a new friend," he demanded. "Maybe...
I arrived back at the motel, two hundred miles from my home town at four in the morning. I was exhausted, but more concerned with my mom's feeling than anything else. It wasn't the first time in my life that I was awake at 4AM. Since there was nothing I could do to help mom at 4AM, I fell into bed and at least tried to sleep. The ringing of the room phone woke me. My cell phone couldn't ring because it was turned off. I had even taken the battery out, so that I wouldn't be disturbed at...
"So go home and get some sleep. You look like hell," Webster staid. "Gee thanks, I needed to hear that. However after five hours sleep, it isn't unexpected," I said. "Then don't stand here searching for compliments, go home and sleep. You have tonight off anyway, so when I see you tomorrow at noon for your 7AM shift, I expect you to look your normal gorgeous self," Webster added. "I'm only gorgeous because you are comparing me to the likes of Simpson," I said with a smile. "I...
From the DA's office we went to the local Rainbow Steakhouse. Simpson convinced me to carry a couple of burgers and fries to the jail.
