July, 1983, Chicago, Illinois

After I arrived home I thought back over the time I’d spent with Carla. She seemed like a really nice girl, but one that was totally out of her element. She’d taken a pretty big risk in coming to my house alone, and hadn’t been prepared for the situation she’d encountered. I put the card on my desk without deciding if I’d call her or not. I was going to be pretty busy over the next few weeks, and then Stephie would arrive.

I decided to write a bit in my journal before turning in for bed. Anala was going to join me on Sunday evening for dinner and I wanted to have my thoughts in order before she arrived. My talks with Jennifer had given me more to think about, and trying to put everything together was difficult. The one thing that kept coming back to me was that Jennifer had basically implied that I’d only ever be happy in some kind of group situation. History seemed to be bearing her out, but I still wasn’t sure that it was the right long-term approach.

That brought me back to social norms and whether or not I was conditioned to think that one-man, one-woman was the only possible way forward. I’d joked with my dad about it, and he’d said that he didn’t think it could work out, but now I wondered about that. I also wondered what Anala would have to say about it. I suspected that her views on duty, social norms, tradition, and her generally conservatives views would result in outright rejection of the idea, but she’d surprised me before.

I finally shut the computer down just before midnight and headed to bed. I fell asleep almost right away and awoke refreshed early the next morning. I ran, practiced my kata, showered, and then called Karin. We had a good talk, and spent longer on the phone than we had in over a year. When I hung up I realized that was the first REAL conversation I’d had with Karin by phone since before her ‘emergency’ trip to Milford two years before.

Just before 8:00am I left the house and walked to the bakery where I was meeting Candace. When I arrived, I looked in through the windows and didn’t see her, so I stood outside to wait. About five minutes later I saw her walking down Hyde Park Boulevard, and realized that she’d taken the El. Given that she lived in Bridgeport, that actually made sense, since it was a relatively short walk at both ends.

When she reached the bakery, she said hello and gave me a quick peck on the cheek. We went inside and we each got a toasted bagel with cream cheese and a coffee, then sat down at a small table by the plate glass window at the front of the bakery.

“So,” Candace said, “you’re interested in a piece of Candy?”

I chuckled, “You are pretty damn forward!”

“Forward? That was tame compared to offering to show you my real hair color! Or did you think I was just going to show you and then button up and go home?” she said with a saucy wink.

“That wasn’t a complaint, it was just an observation!” I said with a grin, taking a bite of my bagel.

“So are we going to do this?” Candace asked, licking some cream cheese from her bagel and holding it on the tip of her tongue.

I laughed, “I guess that depends on what ‘this’ is!”

“Are you dense or just messing with me?” she asked, licking more cream cheese off the bagel in a very suggestive manner.

I smirked, “Let’s just assume I’m dense! I’m not, but for the sake of argument, let’s say I am.”

She laughed, “You are anything but dense. You know damn well what I want. Or wasn’t the cream cheese on my tongue enough of a hint!”

“I just thought you liked cream cheese!” I grinned.

Candace shook her head, “You are impossible! But I love it.”

“I don’t know. You’re awfully old for me!” I teased.

“Six years? Really?” she asked with a smile.

“Actually, yes. I tend to stick with girls right around my age or younger. I’ve only been with a girl more than two years older than me once, and that was my first. She was just a bit younger than you are now.”

“Jesus. How old were you?”

“Fourteen!” I grinned.

“Holy smokes! I was seventeen! Well, technically, because it was the night before my eighteenth birthday. I decided I didn’t want to turn eighteen as a virgin.”

“And how did that go?” I smirked.

“Eh, it was OK. It was uncomfortable, but he did manage to make me cum, but with his mouth and fingers, not his dick. He didn’t last very long. The next time was way better.”

“The only reason I lasted more than five seconds that first time was because she gave me a blowjob first. Well, that’s only technically true. Does it count as a blowjob if you cum the second your dick is in her mouth?” I grinned.

“Good question. I assume you don’t have that problem now?” she smirked, taking a bite of her bagel.

“You assume correctly. Can I ask why you’re interested in me?”

“You’re cool, your friends seem to like you a lot, you tip well, you’re pretty decent looking, and you flirt. Why the hell not? I’m not tied down to anyone and I like sex. Is that a problem?”

“Oh no, not at all. I happen to like it as well. I’m just cautious, that’s all.”

“It’s not like I haven’t seen you a lot. Every week you came in for lunch with that Becky girl, who, by the way, is madly in love with you, if you didn’t know it.”

“Oh, I know it. Becky and I have a history. A long one that goes back to when we were fourteen. Saying that it’s complicated is a massive understatement.”

“She’s your ex? Why do you hang out with her so much?”

“I suppose you could call her my ex, but it’s even more complicated than that. At this point, she and I have some business stuff we do together, and she’s helped me out in some sticky situations. We’re just friends, nothing more.”

“She looks like she’d be a handful in bed. Was it really that bad? I think she’d do anything you asked her to!”

“Yes, it was that bad. It took years for us to even become friends again. Let’s drop it. She’s not why we’re here today.”

“True!” Candy smirked. “I mean unless threesomes are your thing!”

I laughed, “I’ve been known to participate in the past, though only two girls at once is kind of tame.”

“Bullshit!” she grinned. “Now you’re just spouting BS and it’s obvious.”

I finished my bagel and took a drink of coffee before I responded.

“You’ll find I don’t BS about sex. I don’t HAVE to! I’ve been with three girls at once, AND on one occasion, had five different girls the same night.”

Candace just stared at me. I’d shocked her with that one and left her speechless. At least for a minute. She finished her bagel and drained her coffee cup.

“Well, if that’s not bullshit, then we’re wasting valuable time here!” she grinned.

It was time to make a decision. So far, everything we’d said could be chalked up to harmless teasing. The question was, did I want to play around with Candace or not? She certainly didn’t appear to be looking for anything other than a fun romp, and she was cute, like Katy had said the previous fall. She absolutely had the body-type I liked and her personality bordered on crazy. And she looked like she’d be a fun sex partner.

Candace would be the epitome of a dalliance, as I’d called them back in High School. As long as she was OK with that, then I didn’t see why I shouldn’t just have a bit of fun. Jennifer certainly would say it was OK, though Anala might object on philosophical grounds, but I’d worry about that when I talked to her at dinner. I wouldn’t give her details, but I would discuss what Jennifer had said. And Stephie’s main concern was always what the girl meant, and since this was just for fun, she wouldn’t have a problem with it either.

With my mind made up, I finished my coffee and motioned to get up to leave. Candace followed me out onto Hyde Park Boulevard and we walked towards Woodlawn.

“I didn’t know there were any apartments on Woodlawn,” Candace said.

“There aren’t. We’re going to my house,” I said.

“Isn’t renting a house here expensive?” she asked. “Even in Bridgeport it’s not cheap. It has to be insane in Hyde Park!”

“I didn’t say the house I was renting, I said my house,” I said with a grin.

“Wait, aren’t you from Ohio?”

“More or less. I was born in California, but my parents live in Ohio, which is where I went to High School.”

“Then how do you have a house?”

“I bought it with my dad in April,” I said as I turned to walk up the steps.

“No fucking way! You live HERE?”

“Yes, I do.”

“Holy shit! Do you live alone?”

“Right now, yes, but once everyone comes back for school I’ll have five housemates who are renting rooms, along with my friend Stephie, plus some friends who’ll visit most weekends.”

I unlocked the door and let her in. She stopped dead in her tracks looking around.

“Come on, I’ll give you the full tour,” I said.

I decided to do my best to shock her, so we took the elevator up to the attic room.

“A fucking elevator?”

“Well, no. Just a regular elevator, though I suppose it could be used for fucking,” I smirked.

She laughed. I took her through the complete tour from attic to basement, ending standing next to the pool table.

“You wouldn’t happen to be looking for a wife, mistress, or full-time lover, would you? To live in a house like this, I’d do anything!”

I chuckled, “I thought that was already on the table! Something about offering me a piece of candy and making sure I had a sweet tooth!”

“What kind of candy do you like?” she grinned.

I had the answer all saved up for her. There was only one thing to say.

“An all-day sucker!”

She burst out laughing, “You’ve been waiting all morning to say that, haven’t you?”

“I have,” I said with a silly grin. “And once you started teasing me with the cream cheese, I figured that was the best possible answer.”

“That was a bit blatant, wasn’t it?”

“No more than offering to show me your true hair color!”

“Well, let’s go up to your room and play!”

“Birth control?” I asked.

“I hope to hell you have rubbers after all that teasing!”

“I do indeed!” I said, taking her hand and leading her up two flights of stairs and to my room.

As soon as we were in my room, she grabbed me and kissed me hard, pressing her tongue into my mouth. We fumbled with each other’s clothes, quickly getting naked. She broke the kiss.

“Told you it was black!” she grinned, taking a step back so I could look.

She did indeed have a tangle of black pubic hair. In fact, she was one of the hairiest girls I’d ever seen. She looked like the picture of Demi Moore that I’d seen in Penthouse a few years earlier; though Candace’s bleached blonde hair that framed her face was quite the contrast.

“You did!” I grinned.

She gently pushed me back towards the bed and I climbed in, and moved so my head was on the pillow. Candace got into bed next to me and surprised me by quickly engulfing my dick, her lips touching my pubic hair. She released me and looked up at me.

“Like that?” she grinned.

“What do you think?” I smirked.

Candace took me all the way in again, then began slowly sliding her tongue around as she moved up and down, fully taking me into her mouth each time. After a few minutes she began twisting her head as she moved up and down, making the pleasure even more intense. She lightly raked her fingernails across my balls, causing me to thrust my hips slightly. The combined sensations of her tongue, lips, and fingernails brought me quickly to the point of no return.

Candace sensed my impending orgasm and rose up so that only my glans was in her mouth. With one hand she stroked my shaft and the other she ran her fingernails over my balls. A swirl of her tongue and a soft suck caused me to fire a jet of cum into her mouth. She swirled her tongue faster, stroked me harder and continued sucking as I spurted into her mouth.

When the last spurt had fired, she slowly released me and opened her mouth to show me the accumulated cum. She deliberately swallowed, ran her tongue over her lips and then smacked them. She smiled at me and put her head on my stomach. She watched my dick deflate and then began kissing my stomach, moving up to kiss my chest and lick my nipples. I groaned softly from the pleasure which caused her to re-double her efforts. She spent a good ten minutes kissing my chest and stomach, before she gently sucked me hard again.

“Rubbers?” she asked.

“In the nightstand drawer,” I said, pointing.

She opened the drawer and laughed.

She held up the tube of cherry lube.

“Naughty boy! And what is THIS for?” she smirked.

“Let me show you!” I grinned, grabbing the tube from her hands.

I pulled her to me kissed her and then rolled her onto her stomach, positioning a pillow under her. I quickly spread the lube on my dick then between her cheeks. I was pretty sure from her comment that she’d done this before. She didn’t protest when I put my dick against her rear entrance and began pushing into her. She groaned and grunted as I worked myself into her tight butt.

When I was completely in I leaned over and whispered, “That’s what it’s for!”

I began slowly stroking in and out and Candace slipped her hand under her stomach and began rubbing her clit. After a minute she begged me to go harder and then even harder still.

“Fuck me hard, Steve!” she groaned as I felt her muscles tighten as her first orgasm hit her.

I continued moving in and out as she rubbed herself to a second orgasm which caused her muscles to clench tight and pushed me over the edge. I pushed all the way in as cum exploded from my dick into her butt. When our orgasms passed, I gently withdrew and went to the bathroom to wash up. After making sure I was completely clean I went back to the bed and helped her turn over.

I kissed her softly on the lips, then quickly moved to begin licking and sucking her nipples. She moaned softly when I released one to switch to the other, then again when released the second one to kiss my way down to her mons. She smelled wonderful, but the thicket of pubic hair made it difficult to find her labia. I did find it and got a good taste of her sweet juices.

“Ahh! I hope you like licking candy!” she gasped.

I did indeed like the taste, but her pubic hair really got in the way. It was nice to nuzzle my nose in, but not so nice on my tongue when I searched for her clit. I found it and began gently sucking and licking. She bucked a bit, then using both hands pulled my face hard to her crotch. Almost immediately she moaned and bucked and had an orgasm. Sadly, it just didn’t do anything for me to have a mouthful of hair so I moved up and grabbed a rubber from the drawer.

I ripped open the package, rolled it on and quickly buried myself in Candace. She wrapped her legs tight around me and we quickly built a fast, hard rhythm, kissing deeply as we pounded against each other. More than ten minutes later, with both of us gasping and sweaty, she came for a third and final time and I filled the rubber with cum. I grasped the rubber, pulled out and got out of bed to dispose of it.

“Better than I expected!” Candace said when I got back into bed next to her.

“You had doubts?” I grinned.

“Hey, sex is like snow. You never know how many inches you’re going to get or how long it’s going to last!”

A WellLived Life 2 Book 3 JessicaChapter 48 Developments

May 30, 1989, Chicago, Illinois “Did you see what happened in Argentina?” Alejandra asked as she came into the kitchen on Tuesday morning. “Yes, I did. Riots and looting. But it kind of got pushed off the front page of the paper by everything that’s going on in China.” “That statue they put up in Tiananmen Square is a real provocation,” Jessica said. “It is,” I agreed. “And at some point, something bad is going to happen. The protestors are flouting martial law, and either the government...

A WellLived Life Book 10 The WifeChapter 23 Interesting Developments

February, 1985, Chicago, Illinois When the plane touched down at Meigs, I thanked Patrick Shaughnessy and said that I’d see him on the 16th. I walked to my car and fired up the engine. Before I backed out of the spot, I went over in my mind what I was going to say to Cindi when I saw her. I’d thought about the conversation during the flight back from Blue Ash, and had concluded that there was no way to avoid upsetting her. I backed out of the parking spot carefully, then moved to first gear...

March 7, 1995, Chicago, Illinois The phone rang on Tuesday evening, and I excused myself from watching a tape of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine with the girls and kids. Jennifer paused the tape while I went to my study to take the call. “Seriously?” I asked about a minute into the call. “Seriously!” Aimee said with a laugh. “What? You don’t think I’m a good catch?” I laughed, “I think you’re a GREAT catch. I just had you figured for not marrying until you were settled in your shore...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 5 MichelleChapter 78 Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous Part II

May 15, 1992, Glencoe, Illinois “Join me in my study, if you would,” Noel Spurgeon said when we finished our dessert. It had been an interesting evening. Samantha and I had talked for a bit before we’d been summoned to dinner. The meal had been prepared by a chef and was served by a white-coated young man. Again, this was a far cry from Lois at the van Hoeks’ house. What wasn’t a far cry was the fact that I was having dinner with a man who knew I was going to be sleeping with his daughter...

Home for Horny Monsters Book FourChapter 12 Shocking Developments

Mike stared at the piece of paper in front of him, then looked up. Jenny stood on the other side of the paper, holding a large pencil in both hands. She was tapping her foot impatiently. He sighed. “How about W?” Jenny drew the last leg on the hanging stick figure, then drew an X over each of his eyes. He heard a distant cackle come from all around the room, and she dropped her pencil. He scrutinized the puzzle before him and then looked at her. Somehow, despite guessing all the vowels,...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 7 SakurakoChapter 57 Land of the Rising Sun Part III

June 23, 1994, Oguni, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan My first week in Japan flew by, and a routine developed. Sakurako would wake me; I’d exercise and run, then shower and have breakfast, and share tea with Sakurako. After breakfast, I’d meditate, and then have my training session. After lunch, I’d work in the garden, or, as I had this day, wash the floors in the house. Hiroshi would accompany me back to the cottage and we’d talk while I washed up and dressed for dinner. After dinner, I’d spend...

I can’t think of anything else.” “I’ll see you in five weeks,” Elyse said, giving me a quick hug. “Did you see they rioted in Vancouver last night because they lost the Stanley Cup?” I chuckled, “Only Canadians would riot when they LOSE the Cup! I did see that on the front page of the Trib. Are we ready?” “Michelle and...

September 4, 1993, Chicago, Illinois I walked into Alumni Hall at DePaul University at 7:30am, and was promptly greeted by Ailea. “Good morning, Sensei Steve!” “«Ohayō gozaimas»,” I grinned, bowing. “Do you still have your red gi?” she asked. “Yes.” She handed me a black armband. “It’s good to see you,” she said. “I wish you would relent and have lunch with me occasionally.” “The summer was very hectic and there are still issues at home that I need to deal with.” “Would you come to...

The Three Signs Book 4 LisaChapter 6 Developments

Back at Uni for the start of second semester, it was a mix of déjà vu (the introductory lectures for Computing I and the programming clinic) brand new things (the three subjects I was taking this term), and more of the same (back into the thesis project). This was now the third semester I had given the introductory Computing I lecture; I had it all down pretty pat. We had a large number of students wanting to do the Programming Clinic; I am sure most of them heard from the second year...

August 1981, Chicago, Illinois On Sunday morning, I made my usual call to Karin. I described everything in the apartment and all the things I’d done during the week, including the reception. Both of us would start school in a week and we were both looking forward to it. When we finished talking, I went out for my run, showered, and ate breakfast. I made some tea, started a load of laundry, and then turned on the stereo. I put on an REO Speedwagon album and then relaxed on the couch with the...

August 21, 1989, Chicago, Illinois “Unbelievable,” I said when I read the headline from the Chicago Tribune. “It says here that Solidarity activist Tadeusz Mazowiecki was nominated to be Prime Minister of Poland.” I hadn’t had a chance to read the paper on Sunday because it hadn’t been delivered before we left for the race track in Michigan. “So now what?” Kara asked. “We’re in totally uncharted territory. July, 1983, Chicago, Illinois I woke up early on the First of July, because my body clock was still set to Swedish time. The flight back had been long but uneventful, and I was happy that the businessman in the seat next to me hadn’t wanted to talk. I read, wrote some longhand journal entries, ate, and generally relaxed while the plane zipped over the Atlantic. I’d come home, taken a sauna, eaten a light meal, and gone straight to bed, not bothering to check messages, look at the mail that...

June 1977 When I got home, I grabbed a Coke and some chips and went right to my room. I didn’t think I could deal with my parents or Jeff or Stephanie. I just needed to be by myself. That wouldn’t seem odd to anyone, because I often went to my room to read. In addition, I now had the TV I’d received for my birthday. I flipped it on to WXIX Channel 19 and reruns of Gilligan’s Island and Green Acres played in the background while I read. I had to get my mind clear for the final exams that...

June 1977 Friday ended up being a non-event. The more I thought about it, the more I was sure that there was no way on this earth I could say what happened between Birgit and me was a sin. Calling it a sin would debase it into a meaningless act. I could never do that. And the more I thought about Jennie McGrath, the more sure I was that I couldn’t call what she did for me a sin, either. If the church was right, I was going to hell. May 14, 1997, Chicago, Illinois “Start talking!” Melanie demanded when I sat down in her office about an hour later. “There isn’t much to say. Katya found the information for me when I asked her to look into several things about Brandon Littleton, Kevin Lomax, and John Milton.” “Do you know more about him?” “A LOT more. I don’t think you want to know.” “Probably not, but I’m your criminal defense attorney, and even though San Antonio doesn’t have you involved in this, you know the CPD...

The Three Signs Book 2 LoriChapter 28 Live at the Lifesaver

“So, how should we do these Stone’s songs?” Phil asked at our rehearsal session. “I think we all know the music, we just need to come up with a pretty awesome arrangement; we don’t want to sound like yet another cheap cover band.” “I had some ideas, if it’s okay for me to make some suggestions,” Allison said. “Of course it is,” Phil said. “Everyone can have a say, there’s no rule that says you can’t participate in the discussion.” “Thanks, Phil, I guess being the newest here, I’m a bit...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 6 SamanthaChapter 25 A Partnership

October 5, 1992, Chicago, Illinois “Hi, Tiger! I missed you!” “Hi, Babe!” We hugged and kissed more than we normally did when we met at the ER after her shift, then she hugged and kissed Kara, and the three of us started our walk home. “How was San Francisco?” Jessica asked. “Good. The User Group meeting went very well, I saw my old boss and professor, Scott Bannerman, and Bethany and I had a lot of time to talk.” “If all you did with her is talk, I’m not sure I want to go back to the...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 5 MichelleChapter 77 Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous Part I

May 11, 1992, Chicago, Illinois Monday was turning out to be a LONG day. After my run and talk with Gina, and my talk with Elyse, I had a full day at the office scheduled. First was our leadership meeting in the morning, and then I had status meetings with each team. At lunch I’d gone to see Siobhán and explained that I was going to break off the sexual relationship, but that I wanted to remain friends. She was disappointed, but admitted that Thursday would have been the last time, since she...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 3 JessicaChapter 23 So Now You Turn Back Into Diana Prince

January 19, 1989, En-Route from LAX to ORD When the engines of the plane started, Jeri reached over and took my hand. She held it while we pushed away from the gate, and taxied for takeoff. Her grip tightened a bit as we hurtled down the runway, but nothing like the death grip she’d had on my arm for the flight out. The plane roared its way into the air and once we leveled out, Jeri’s grip loosened but she didn’t let go of my hand. “How are you doing?” I asked with a touch of...

A WellLived Life Book 2 JenniferChapter 11 A Surprise Visitor

June 1978 On Wednesday morning, I noticed Mary’s name written in my ‘little black book’ for Thursday. She had written that in herself before she gave it to me as a gift. I wasn’t up for it, really. As much fun as Mary was, it wasn’t what I needed now. There likely would never be a repeat of the ‘love making’ from last time, and I wasn’t sure it would be a good idea, anyway. It ran the risk of stirring up dangerous feelings. She had Ben, so I hoped she wouldn’t be upset. Work went the way it...

The Three Signs Book 4 LisaChapter 52 Developments in Canberra

Late December 1996 – January 1997 We had the big Christmas Day party at Banksia Lodge, much as we had done in previous years. My father again played ‘Santa Claus’, handing out presents to all the children present. On Boxing Day, we watched the televised start of the Sydney to Hobart yacht race, there were some impressive boats; a huge Reichel/Pugh maxi, owned by the head of the software company SAP. ‘Morning Glory’ was first out of the harbour, followed by ‘Condor of Currabubula’,...

A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 34 Old Routines and New Ideas

September 1982, Chicago, Illinois The weekend was quiet and besides homework, I worked on the program changes for Frank, called Karin, Tatyana, and Kara, and hung out with my usual study group. Monday was refreshingly normal. On Tuesday morning, I handed Katy my completed intake form. She put it in an envelope and stuck it in her bag. She said she’d let me know soon about the interview. On Tuesday afternoon, after having lunch with Stephie, I made my rounds and then I headed over to Sigma...

A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 35 An Interview and Some New Friends

October 1982, Chicago, Illinois The drive back to Chicago was as uneventful as usual, and I arrived at the apartment just before 6:00pm. When I arrived, Elyse and Stephie were sitting on the couch and Jackie was sitting on the loveseat. Stephie hopped up as I opened the door and greeted me with a hug and a kiss. “Hi, Peaches!” I said. “Glad you’re home, Yankee!” “Hi, Steve,” Elyse and Jackie both said. “Hey,” I replied. “How was the weekend?” “Well, it was just Kurt with me, Stephie,...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 3 JessicaChapter 52 Lifestyle Choices

June 11, 1989, Chicago, Illinois It was just after 3:00am when I kissed Trish goodbye. She’d been an enthusiastic, energetic, and adventurous lover. We’d done just about anything either of us could think of, though her breasts weren’t large enough for a tit-fuck. The last time had been in the shower where we’d ostensibly gone to clean up afterwards, but instead I ended up taking her from behind as she leaned against the wall of the shower. “I think I’ll have you again, Steve Adams,” she...

A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 38 Freshman Year Ends

May 1978 The first couple of weeks in May were busy with school, work, and friends. Except for Becky, I didn’t even have any dates. But I was OK with that. Well, almost OK. I wanted to see Anna, but it likely wasn’t going to happen until school was out. I had tutoring sessions with Melanie, but she still wouldn’t talk to me about anything other than Spanish. Barely a hello. I was grateful for the tutoring, but it was maddening seeing my friend this way. I hoped someday she could understand...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 44 Spring Break 1982 Part I

March, 1982, Milford, Ohio As I drove along I-65, I thought about what Stephanie had asked for and what Bethany had said without even knowing about the request. Of course, because Bethany and I were so in tune, she might have actually had an idea that I was struggling with getting involved with my sister again. I kept turning it over and over in my mind and I kept coming to the same conclusion — that I shouldn’t do it. I was torn between doing what Stephanie wanted and doing what Kara and...

September 7, 1992, Chicago, Illinois “That went reasonably well,” Michelle said when her parents drove off. “There were a few times I thought my expression would give away something I shouldn’t. You were messing with me, weren’t you?” She grabbed both my hands and smiled, “I was telling the truth, in my own way. Thank you!” She leaned forward and kissed my cheek. “So, what’s left?” I asked. “To visit UofC tomorrow and formally withdraw from classes. To spend some time with you and your...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 9 KamiChapter 38 And Sometimes It Stinks To Be Big

January 23, 1996, Chicago, Illinois “Father, bless!” I said, greeting Father Basil with upturned palms. “Bless you, Stephen,” he said as I kissed his hand. The waiter showed us to a quiet table along the wall of Roditys in Greektown. He took our drink orders and was back quickly. We placed our food orders right away and he left to put them in with the kitchen. “I’m not quite sure how to address this, so I’m just going to ask you bluntly. Are you the father of Michelle’s baby?” I shook my...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 8 NIKAChapter 68 The Rules

June 29, 1995, Chicago, Illinois On Thursday, I finally had lunch with Melissa again, something I hadn’t been looking forward to. Much like with Cèlia, Melissa and I had passed an inflection point and I was left with sub-optimal paths forward. I’d been struggling with the possible solutions, and all of them had pitfalls. When I walked into Takumi, I had something of a plan. Whether it was good or not would only be known once everything played out. “I spoke to my wives,” I said after we’d...

December 5, 2000, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota “I had a good time last night,” I said. “I was surprised you invited a friend!” Mary laughed as we walked into the exam room, “Naomi had a good time as well. You know what a Resident’s life is like.” I nodded, “No social life.” “Exactly. A WellLived Life Book 3 PiaChapter 25 The Puzzle and the Cat Part II

March 1980, Hovås/Göteborg, Sweden I woke early as usual, but just enjoyed being in bed with Katt. When she woke, she hopped out of bed and pulled a robe out of her closet and handed it to me. “There’s a spare toothbrush in the bathroom. Go have your shower, then we’ll have breakfast after I have my shower.” I quickly showered and brushed my teeth, and went back to Katt’s room. She went to shower and came back a few minutes later. She dressed, and I got a very good look at her sexy body...

I spent most of my time acting as a manservant to Sensei Robert and Sensei Hiro.” “He who will lead, must first serve,” I said. “Someday, I’m going to send you to Sensei Hiro, should he live long enough. October 29, 2000, Chicago, Illinois Birgit followed me as far as the stairs, then scooted upstairs when I went to the front door and opened it. “Hi!” Sophie said. “Hi!” I replied and held the door open so she could come into the house. I closed the door behind her then led her to my study where I waited until she went in, and then walked in, closing the door behind me. I nodded to one of the wingback chairs, she sat down in one, and I sat down in the other. “Is something wrong?” she...

A WellLived Life Book 8 StephieChapter 61 Anala Part II

August, 1983, Chicago, Illinois I walked in the near 90°F heat to Carla’s place. I was grateful that the humidity of the morning had dropped significantly; otherwise the heat would have been unbearable. By the time I walked up the steps to the apartment over the photography studio and knocked on her door, I had broken into a light sweat. Carla answered almost immediately and invited me inside her studio apartment. The air was moderately cool, and the window air conditioner was running full...

July 1982, Milford, Ohio On Tuesday morning, I kissed Kara goodbye and headed to my parents’ house for my usual morning routine with my little sister. She was happy that I could spend the morning with her and asked to take a walk, so we weren’t in the house with my mom. “Let me guess — this walk will end in the clearing,” I said with a smile. “Yes,” she said, taking my hand as we walked down Overlook towards Klondyke. March 13, 1994, Chicago, Illinois “Hi, Steve!” Ailea said when she opened the door. “Hi,” I replied, accepting the offered hug. There was no touching of lips, just of cheeks, and I wondered if I’d misread her intentions at her birthday lunch, or if, perhaps, she detected my reluctance to return the offered affection. “Lunch is ready, so go ahead and sit. I’ll bring it in from the kitchen.” I went to the low table, sat down, and a minute later, Ailea brought miso soup and sushi, our usual...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 10 BridgetChapter 72 An Explosive Discovery

April 3, 1997, Dallas, Texas “Remember what I said about drinking too much,” I said, as I poured bourbon into three cups. We’d stopped at a liquor store, bought a bottle of Blanton’s, and then returned to the small suite I’d reserved at the Westin. Deborah’s room was down the hall, and Krissy’s was two floors below. Krissy’s comment had caught me a bit off guard, but I hadn’t reacted visibly. I didn’t know her quite well enough to know if she’d been teasing with Deborah, so I was being...

September 1, 1987, Chicago, Illinois “I heard that you have some kind of plan to help Ed,” I said to Connie. “There’s no plan,” she replied. “A witness who saw the shopkeeper alive after Ed left came forward.” That sounded convenient, and I wondered if the witness was real or someone that Anthony had put forward to solve the problem. Certainly, the videotape was real, because I couldn’t imagine how Anthony could have faked that, but the witness? Who knew? “So is he being released? Or is...

August 17, 1997, Chicago, Illinois We finished lunch and Marissa and the younger kids went to play, but Natalie sat with the adults to talk, with coffee, tea, or soft drinks. The Sarcus were very comfortable, but the Heaths were still struggling. But, vitally, they hadn’t left and hadn’t insisted Natalie leave the group. “Can you explain how you developed this attitude and approach?” Chris asked. July 1979 — Falkenberg, Sweden On Friday, when I got back from my run, Pam was in her bra and panties again. I whistled at her, she giggled, then finished dressing. I showered, and we went to breakfast and finished up our last day. Once class was done, we were pretty much free. On Saturday, we’d have several optional activities and then on Sunday we’d head back to our host families. After dinner on Friday, I took Pam’s hand and we walked towards the river. November 8, 1993, Chicago, Illinois A dark fog swirled before my eyes as I tried to take stock. My head hurt, badly. I felt something on my face and realized, dimly, it was an oxygen mask. My right hand was uncomfortable and I recognized the feeling of an IV and pulse-oximeter. My left arm ached fiercely. On my chest I felt the pads and wires of an EKG. I didn’t feel anything else wrong as I continued taking inventory. I tried to open my eyes, but the fog didn’t clear. I tried to speak, but...

August, 1983, Chicago, Illinois In the morning Anala and I ran as we had the previous time, then showered together, carefully washing each other’s bodies in an intimate but non-sexual way. After our shower we went to the kitchen and I made breakfast and we sat down to eat. “Steve, may I make a suggestion?” she asked. “Sure.” “Broaden your circle of friends.
