All the women had agreed to take over the watches in the communication room. Training was scheduled to start tomorrow with Vivian as their supervisor. The choppers took off before us, heading directly for the air base. We had the air to ourselves according to the radar operators. Carol told me it could lift 20,000 pounds, which would allow us to lift a completely loaded trailer or cargo container. Karen said because the hens had stopped laying eggs, they were only good to eat now. They also bought a portable generator so we would have light in the hanger and be able to power the rotisserie. I, for one, was looking forward to dinner. Jacob and I preformed the maintenance required on the plane and refueled it.
When Carol returned, she said Ken and Roy had found the perfect trucks with lowboy trailers and had loaded four bundles of 3/4" plywood onto one. I thought I had misunderstood what she said when she added, "After dinner, I will fly Carol and Ken's wives down, so they can ride shotgun back with them."
