Honey was just finishing up the 2200 hours check-in transmission to Whitehall that confirmed they were still alive and on track for completing the mission. A low voice announced that it was Marcel and that they had to move to another location quickly.
"You carry the radio and the weapons and I will get the explosives."
She hurried to follow his instructions because in such situations pausing to think merely made things a bit riskier and she was in no hurry to fall into the hand of the Nazis who enjoyed interrogating female operatives the most. The training course had explained to them in detail some of the Gestapo methods and she knew that rape was not the worst thing in their bag of tricks. Suddenly she was sorry that she had refused the introduction of a hollow tooth with the hidden cyanide poison pill that would assist her in avoiding the horrors of interrogation. It had seemed defeatist at the time but now when her back was literally against the wall it would have provided some element of comfort.

Honey could see the outline of tank turrets and canon loaded on the long line of flatbed cars and the camouflaged box cars that contained unknown cargos to the new front opening up on the coast. Her fond hope was that the cars carried explosives and ammunition which would make the explosion a scene of chaos and terror. She dreaded the possibility that they might carry large numbers of troops who might escape the trap and fan out into the forest to find the saboteurs and capture them for intelligence gathering.
She was the one who set the detonators and the primer cord and Marcel taped the sticks of explosive into small packages to distribute evenly along the entire track bed to insure the train was demolished from engine all the way to the end car. In addition to the destruction of the much-needed supply train, they would be able to incapacitate the rail line for several days while they organized a repair crew and equipment to reinstate the route.
She was trying to stuff the taped packages under the rail when Marcel tired of her slow progress and straddled her "down on all fours" form to help shove the thing under the cold steel.
