I stared at the ceiling, happy to be home. There was something to be said for sleeping in your own bed. Something was missing, though: my trusty hound. It had been too late last night to get him from the farm. I glanced at the clock and it was almost nine. I guess I’d slept in.

I got dressed and went downstairs, where I found Precious sunning herself on our driveway.

“Hello, evil cat. Did you miss your buddy?” I asked.

She lifted her head and our eyes locked. I decided it was best to just be on my way. When I got to the kitchen, I made myself a bowl of cereal. I was cleaning up when my mom found me.

“Finally decided to get out of bed?” she asked.

I ignored her jab.

“I’m going to go get Duke.”

“I’ll go with you. Your grandmother said there are some vegetables getting ripe. She mentioned some of the early tomatoes are ready. I feel like a BLT.”

I’d given Paul the weekend off because he was going with us to Canada. He needed to do laundry and pay bills. I’d had to agree to stay home or he would have insisted on having someone accompanying me, but this was just a trip to the farm. I didn’t think that Fritz would yell at me ... much.

We took the Jeep, and when I got out at my grandma’s, I whistled loudly to call Duke. We could hear barking from down by the river and soon saw him tearing up the walnut-hull path we’d put in. He was a total spaz and couldn’t decide who he should say ‘Hi’ to first, Mom or me. Grandma Dawson and Yelena came walking up the path.

My grandmother grabbed me and kissed my cheek.

“If he stayed too much longer, I was going to keep him,” she said as Duke danced around us. “I think he needs some energy burned off.”

I’d brought his ball with me, so I grabbed it out of the Jeep while my mom and grandma went to pick vegetables. Yelena stayed, and I could tell she wanted to talk. Duke tore off after a long toss of his ball.

“Your grandmother proud of you. Say you good with baseball.”

“I made the cut to the next round. I’ll have to survive one more round of cuts to make the national team and go to Mexico. Everything being equal, I think I’d love to play baseball full-time, but I know I’d miss the contact of football,” I admitted.

“Yuri said it would be shame if you not play football. He said you have ‘special talent.’”

I felt myself blush. I hadn’t expected Yuri to even think that let alone say it to his grandmother.

“I’ve sort of put it on the back burner this summer to explore baseball. I won’t let Yuri or my teammates down. I plan to win state my senior year.”

She looked perplexed.

“Back burner?”

I remembered how different English was from her native language and explained it to her. She smiled and left Duke and me to our game of catch.

When Duke finally began to tire out, we walked down to the river. We went to the bluff and sat down under my favorite walnut tree. Duke wanted some serious loving. I think my grandma needed to be trained on ear rubbing and chest scratching.

It was relaxing to sit on the bluff and look out over the river. Caryn had sent me an email that said they’d dug out several feet of silt from the riverbed. The next step would be to line the shores with riprap, or stones, to prevent erosion. I’d agreed to have them put smaller gravel in the bed of the river to firm it up. The hope was that cleaning up the river would make it healthier and also less likely to flood.

I received a text from my mom, so I convinced Duke that we should jog back to the farm. Mom had a plastic tub full of tomatoes, green beans, new potatoes and lettuce. I was happy to haul it to the Jeep.

Duke claimed shotgun, but Mom boosted his butt and sent him to the back seat. On the ride home, I received a text from Brook to meet her at the small local airport. She wanted to take me flying. I didn’t tell Mom about the flying; I didn’t want her to worry. Anyways, that’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.

“Hello, Brook Davis,” I said as I spotted my friend.

“Why, young Mr. Dawson. So good to see you,” she said, acting regal.

“What’s the plan for today?”

“I’ve got a flying lesson. I told them that you’d eventually be joining me, so you get to ride along with me today to see what it’s like. Come with me and I’ll introduce you to my instructor, Roy Tyro,” Brook said as she grabbed my hand and pulled me along.

I could tell that she enjoyed flying, and I was sure if she liked it, I would too.

“Roy, this is my good friend David,” Brook said by way of introduction.

“I’ve watched you play football and took in both your movies. It’s a pleasure to have you here today. Brook says that you might also want to learn to fly. If you do decide to try it, I would love for you to pick us as your instructors.”

Roy showed me the aircraft they used for training. It was a newer Cessna 172, and he proudly pointed out its advanced G1000 avionics. He explained that the Cessna 172 was a four-seater with a high wing and single engine. The first one flew in 1955, and more of these aircraft were built than any other. He explained that Lincoln Flight School had picked this proven training aircraft with the most up-to-date avionics available with safety in mind. The G1000 Avionics System was state-of-the-art, commercial-level flight instrumentation.

I stood back as Brook had her lesson. They walked the plane as part of the preflight checklist. I sat in the back as she took control of the plane and took us up. I could see the joy she experienced as we rose into the blue sky overlooking the area farms. I knew she’d found another thing we could do together. I would have to wait until after this summer to join her.

After her class, we snuck into the back of her property and went to her cabin by the lake.

“Want to go skinny-dipping?” Brook asked, with a glint of mischief in her eyes.

I took her up on her challenge and began to lose my clothes. We were soon roughhousing in the lake when Cassidy came walking up.

“You two are terrible. You do know your parents are up at the house. I think Ava would pay good money to see our boy naked,” Cassidy observed.

“Join us,” Brook dared her friend.

Cassidy looked around and began taking her clothes off. She was soon in the water and the three of us acted like the teenagers we were. The girls wanted me to toss them into the air so they could splash into the deeper part of the lake. I aimed for where the natural spring was because the water was colder in that spot. The cold water did interesting things to their nipples. Brook finally figured it out.

“You’re such a bad boy. I think he just wants to see these,” Brook accused me, and Cassidy gave me a dirty look.

I raced out of the water to keep Cassidy from doing me harm. She was game, but I was faster than she was. She got Brook to help her and somehow I let them catch me. Things heated up, and soon Brook knew fully how much I’d missed her. I offered to have Cassidy join us, but she reminded me that we were at home and we’d made a promise to her dad.

Brook thought that was just fine and took full advantage.

I invited Ava and Ian to join Brook, Cassidy and me for lunch at my house. I’d bragged up my mom’s BLTs. Mom and Dad were happy to see them, as we’d had a family vacation together. I bribed Ian to ask a question.

“What lake are you going to for your vacation?”

“Trout Lake. We’ll fly into Winnipeg and then catch a private flight to Red Lake, the closest small town to the fishing camp we’re staying at. It’s a 20-minute flight from there to the lodge on Trout Lake. The only way to get there is to fly in and land on the lake,” Dad said, and then saw the big grin on my face. “Dammit, David. You can’t tell Greg or Phil.”

“Phil thinks we’re going to strip clubs. I can’t wait to see his face when you dump him in the middle of nowhere in Canada,” I said, and then went into planning mode. “Do I need to call Devin and get us gear?”

“Devin wanted to join us, but Sandy talked him out of it. He agreed to ship everything that we might need to the lodge. He only asked that we take some pictures of the fish we catch that he can show on his website.

“Now what did you tell your half brother?” Dad asked.

“It was Roc’s fault. He told Phil that on the last guys’ weekend we had, we went to a brothel.”

“Really?” Mom asked.

“Mom, just stop. You know what happens on guys’ weekend stays on the guys’ weekend, or that was what Uncle John and Dad made me promise. It’s a guy thing,” I said, as I gave her a superior look.

I must have said ‘guy’ one too many times. Cassidy found a nerve bundle under my arm. Now that hurt. I don’t think she was even sorry. Mom thanked Cassidy for the assist and I kept my mouth shut from that point on.

After everyone had left, I was surprised when Tami showed up.

“Where are Tim and Wolf?” I asked.

“They went home to see their parents. I wanted to have a talk with you.”

“Oh, man. What did I do now?” I asked as my mom walked in.

“Did David do something he shouldn’t have?” Mom asked.

“No. No one’s done anything wrong. I just need to talk to him,” Tami explained.

“Oh. I thought you already had,” Mom said, and then left us alone.

I felt the old irritation about my mom and Tami being too close to each other. I just sighed, knowing this wasn’t good for me.

“Maybe we should go to your apartment to talk so we aren’t interrupted,” Tami suggested.

I gave her an unhappy face but was smiling inside. My guess was that Tim had finally manned up and told Tami he liked her. I couldn’t let her know that I was happy for her ... yet. I thought she might have to work for it a little bit.

When we got seated, she suddenly wasn’t as sure of herself, so I took over the conversation and got her up to date on baseball tryouts. I also told her about the release of my new movie, The Secret Circle. It was doing about what they’d projected in the way of sales. That made Rita happy since she’d invested a lot of her own money into the film. She’d already earned her investment back and they hadn’t even started DVD sales.

The film had been in the top three for the last few weeks. Ari told me that we could expect this weekend would be the last big one, as far as earnings. The Fourth of July weekend would introduce the big summer movies.

When I finally ran down, Tami kissed me.

“You know that I love you,” she began.

I was surprised that even though I knew what she was about to tell me, it still hurt. You don’t go as long as we had knowing that ‘someday’ you would be together for this not to get you in the gut. I had to remind myself what had transpired in the last two years. I’d given up on my claim on Tami. She’d rejected or hurt me too many times. That didn’t mean that I didn’t want her to be a close friend. I had to convince myself that I didn’t want more than that.

“You found someone,” I said, to make it easier on her.

She gave me a curious look.

“He talked to you,” she said, putting it together.

“He didn’t want to hurt our friendship,” I admitted.

“That was why you didn’t want to go out with the four of us last time I was home.”

I just nodded.

“I take it you’re okay with us going out. I told him we couldn’t until I talked to you.”

“He’s a great guy. I hope you two are happy with each other,” I said.

Tami blinked at me. I don’t think she expected that.

“Uh ... okay. The four of us are going out tonight. Why don’t you get a date and join us?” Tami asked.

“I’m not sure that’s such a good idea.”

“Why? We’re all friends.”

“Think about it. I’ve slept with you and Sarah, plus the two of you are just starting to date. No one wants their girl’s ex to go on a date with them.”

She rubbed her forehead.

“I can see your point. Maybe next time,” she suggested.

After she left, I sort of went to a dark place. It was less than a year ago that I’d asked her to be my girlfriend, and now she was dating one of my best friends. I found it hard to believe that he was a better match for her.

I spent the night in with the boys so Peggy could go out with some of her college friends. Mom and Dad had a date night too. It was just Duke, Little David and Coby with me. It was nice to have daddy-time alone with the boys.

That was great until they all fell asleep on me by nine. I couldn’t remember the last time I’d sat home on a Saturday night and watched Netflix. The intercom chirped and I switched to the camera to see who was there. It was Yuri and Jan. I pressed the button to open the gate to let them in and I met them at the back door.

“Quiet. I just got the little ones asleep,” I cautioned them.

Duke greeted them at the top of the stairs. I told him to go park it in his crate and he went and lay down.

“I thought about what you said,” Yuri got out.

I raised one eyebrow and Jan gave me a look not to tease him. I wasn’t so sure Yuri was fully on board for a threesome. He just didn’t strike me as the type to want to share. He had too much Alpha Male in him. I knew I would never go for something like this. I also knew Jan. I could see her wearing him down.

“I take it you figured out the logistics,” I ventured.

“Uhm ... yeah.”

I got a little smile on my face and waited him out.

“Dammit, David. Could you just help me out here?” he almost pleaded.

“What are the rules?” I asked.

“What do you mean by ‘rules’?” he asked.

“Do you want me to just watch? Do you want to watch? Is everything fair game?” I asked, and then smiled. “Jan does have a hot little body. I’ve wanted to do this since middle school.”

Jan saw the look on Yuri’s face, grabbed his hand, and pulled him into my bedroom. I felt bad, but he needed to think this through before he never talked to me again. I could hear them talking, so I restarted my movie. After about thirty minutes, just Yuri came out.

“You’re such a dick.”

“Hey, I’m just making sure you know what you’re getting yourself into. Inviting another guy into your bed is kind of a big deal. I mean, it would be one thing if we just found a random girl at a party and wanted to have some fun. It’s something else entirely when you’re in a relationship.

“I’m not sure I could do it. If you decide that this is something you want to do, I’ll help you out as a friend. You do know I would never do anything to hurt your relationship. My only advice is that if you aren’t sure, wait,” I said, finishing my speech.

While I was talking, Jan came out of the bedroom.

“I want to do this,” Yuri told me.

I turned to Jan.

“Now, tell me honestly, do you want to do this, and why?”

Jan looked at me, startled, then down at her hands rubbing the front of her jeans, and then sideways at Yuri. She answered me but looked at Yuri while she talked.

“I want Yuri to know that I’ll do anything for him. I want him to know he can use me, sexually, not only for his pleasure but also with others, for his benefit. I admit it ... I like sex. I love doing things for Yuri and I love being his. I want him to know that if he asks, I would do anything he wants me to. I don’t think he believes me, so I suggested a threesome with you. I know this is outside his comfort zone, but I have faith that once he understands, we’ll both be happy. If I can help him cement a friendship or bring another satisfaction so he’s satisfied, I want him confident enough to ask. Heck, I want him to be happy knowing he has this power over me.

“I know how Yuri feels about you, and I want the two of you to be closer friends. I also know that you’ve had a problem with me in the past. I want to make it up to you, too,” she said, and I could see that she was almost pleading with me to go along with the plan.

Yuri looked steadily back at her, and then nodded, once. She gave him a timid look of gratitude and then rushed into his arms. I didn’t fully understand what was going on between these two. I did know I was happy that Jan wasn’t my problem. Yuri had his work cut out for him.

“One last thing. You do know I’m a Dawson, right?” I asked, and they both looked at me, confused. “We’re known as sex gods for a reason. I just hope you can keep up.”

They both just blinked at me. Yuri’s eyebrows came together.

“You really are a dick sometimes,” he said, which made me grin.

“Let’s rock her world,” I suggested.

I could tell Jan wasn’t sure whether or not Yuri could talk me into this. She smiled when we both walked into my bedroom. Then they both got shy. I think it finally sunk in that this might actually happen.

“Get naked,” I suggested and began to take off my clothes.

I decided to play the director because Yuri looked like he was about to lose his nerve.

“Yuri, lay down on the bed. Jan, you blow him while I get you ready.”

Yuri was much more agreeable while Jan pleasured him. She was on her knees and I edged them apart so I could work on her sex. Jan had always been the best-looking girl in my class, and I really had imagined what it would be like. Her body had only gotten better over time. She was in great shape and had a nice firm bottom. She’d shaved her sex but left a trimmed bush.

I rubbed her clit with three fingers to get her started. When she began to squirm, I sucked her sex into my mouth and stretched her lips. I reached down and spread her lips so my tongue could find her moist center. I’d had women with more experience than Jan teach me the finer points of oral sex. Even Adrienne agreed I wasn’t half bad. I don’t think Jan was ready for me.

“Oh shit! Oh shit! OH YES!” she hissed as I did some of my best work.

Yuri gave me a dirty look, but I’d warned him. I would have to teach him a few things.

“Straddle him,” I told Jan.

When she quit quaking, she climbed onto Yuri and grabbed his shaft. She made a satisfied grunt as she dropped her weight. I sat back and watched her ride him. Jan had nice breasts that swayed when she rode her boyfriend.

Yuri got a funny look on his face, grabbed her hips, and began to jackhammer into her. When he grunted and stiffened, I knew he’d cum. Jan looked over her shoulder and gave me a pleading look. I could tell she wanted to cum again.

“He came in you. I’m not following that,” I told her.

She got a frustrated look on her face.

“There is another way,” I suggested.

“Whatever you need to do to help her out,” Yuri said.

Neither Jan nor I thought he knew what I was talking about, but she wasn’t letting this opportunity pass her by. I put on a condom and got my tube of lube out. I coated my cock and had her get on all fours. I put a big glob on my index finger and used it to make sure she was ready. Yuri’s eyes got big when I pushed my cock into her butt.

Jan moaned as if we were doing porn. I slowly worked my way in and her head collapsed onto Yuri’s stomach.

“Get him hard again,” I ordered.

As she began to breathe life back into the dead, I went to work. Jan took me like a champion and I soon had her moaning. I realized that I was bigger than Yuri, but not enough to have her moan like that. Jan and I found a good rhythm and I reached under her to rub her sex. I got past the yuck factor when I found her labia covered in what Yuri had left.

I smiled when she pulled off Yuri and screamed. I felt her anal ring clench and unclench over and over again. I heard a baby cry at being woken up.

“Take over for me. I need to check on the babies.”

I grabbed my shorts and removed the condom before going out to my living room. It was good that I did because Tami and Tim were sitting in my living room.

“You’re a little early. I’m not done with my first threesome tonight,” I teased.

I think Tim’s brain melted. Tami just gave me a dirty look. I ignored them and found Coby was the one causing a fuss. I picked him up and he started to calm down. I heard the door open and Peggy came up the stairs. What happened to knocking?

“He’s the worst babysitter ever,” Tami observed.

Peggy rolled her eyes at me.

“Help me take the boys into the house,” Peggy said.

I followed Peggy up to the third floor of the house and put Coby to bed.

“What did I walk into?” Peggy asked.

“Tami wanted to show off her new boyfriend,” I said. “I’d rather not go back.”

It was obvious I was still aroused, and Peggy knew how to fix that. I just wish I’d been there when Yuri and Jan came out of my bedroom to find Tim and Tami. I bet that was a fun conversation.

Sunday June 26

Duke wasn’t happy. I’d left him in the apartment overnight while I spent time with Peggy. He was okay by the time I ran him and came home, but he was also out of shape. Apparently, Peggy didn’t run him as hard as I did.

When I came home, Dad told me we were flying out today. I’d thought Monday was our travel day. I soon had another person—Zoe—mad at me. We’d planned to be together all afternoon.

I packed my essentials and added a couple of things I wanted to bring with me. Everyone came to our house at eleven. Phil’s mom, Vickie, brought him. Greg made the mistake of telling Kyle that we were going on a trip. He thought he should get to go. I could see that in a couple of years it would be a kid’s week.

“Where are you going and why does Phil need a passport?” Vickie asked.

“It’s a surprise and we needed to go where Phil’s age wouldn’t be a problem,” I said with a straight face.

It was good that Phil’s head was attached or it would have fallen off with how fast it snapped around. Vickie saw and just shook her head.

“I guess he’ll come back in one piece,” she reasoned.

“He’ll come back a changed man,” Uncle John offered.

I had no doubt that Uncle John would spend time with him to make him a better person, but Phil didn’t need to know that.

“He’s had all his shots, right?” Greg asked.

“Mo-om,” he complained.

It was so nice not being the little one anymore. Phil was a godsend.

On the car ride to Chicago, Dad and Uncle John teased Greg and Phil about where we were going. I played dumb.

“Remember last time,” I moaned. “We ended up going to the doctor for all the blood tests. I hope we don’t have to do that again.”

“Did you really have to get blood tests?” Phil asked.

“We weren’t sure David really was a Dawson,” Uncle John teased.

“That was a disappointment. Mr. Thigpen has a pool,” I complained.

“Who’s Mr. Thigpen?” Phil asked.

“The mailman,” Greg explained.

“Do we have to get blood tests this time?” Phil worried.

“Let’s hope not,” was all Dad would say.

I waited until we were in the air before I started to really tease Phil. He got the middle seat between Greg and me. I grumbled about sitting in coach, but to be on a guys’ trip it was worth it. I then pulled out the things I’d printed off the internet.

Junior Year Part IIChapter 24 Goals Plans

I’d started to have weekly meetings with Caryn and Megan. They’d agreed to early Sunday afternoons if I gave them Friday afternoons off. I was entertained by their little work of fiction. They really didn’t have to work 40 hours a week yet. They were both on salary, so they were paid the same regardless of how many hours they worked. Mom and Dad told me that the two didn’t take advantage and seemed to get their work done, so I didn’t have any problems with it. My odd work schedule meant that...

Junior Year Part IIChapter 6 Amateurism

I got up excited about two things. First, Moose told me he had a surprise for me. I was to meet him at the Field House, first thing. Second, Brook had sent me a text and scheduled a ‘play date’. I worried that it was too cold out, but became confused when a subsequent text told me to bring my swimsuit. I was not doing a polar bear swim, even with Brook. I found Mom alone in the kitchen when I came in. “Congratulations,” she said, as I stuck my head in the refrigerator to figure out what...

After my run, I went to the kitchen and found Peggy looking worn out. “Are you okay?” I asked. “Coby’s waking up every couple of hours and I’m not getting much sleep.” “And you have finals coming up and your project. Do you need a break?” “I wish, but I’ve got a job that puts a roof over David’s and my head. Don’t worry about it. I’m just feeling sorry for myself,” Peggy said. “Tell you what, I’ll take them today, and you can catch up on your sleep and do whatever you want.” “I know how...

Tracy, Pam and Halle were waiting for me when I got to school. “Are you all right?” Tracy asked. I assumed she was talking about the alert Fritz had sent out. “Yeah, I just wanted to make sure you were all okay. I guess, if nothing else, it was a good thing that we tested it out.” “Did you know the girl?” Halle asked. “No, not really. I met her for just a couple of minutes. She seemed nice. It was terrible, what happened,” I said. Pam wrapped me in a hug and whispered in my ear. “Are...

“You ready to learn something today?” Coach Way asked. He and I were in center field, and Coach Short was hitting balls to me. “Of course,” I said with a sideways look. “Here’s something I bet no one has ever told you,” he said, ready to lay some wisdom on me. “Have you ever been unsure whether or not a line-drive ball will drop in front of you?” There were times when that could be tricky. I just nodded in response. “Use the bill of your cap to help judge it. If the ball’s below the bill...

When we came back from church, it was just the three of us: Mom, Dad and me. We had a light lunch, and I joined Dad to watch the Bulls lose another game. That was when someone buzzed from the front gate. Dad switched the TV to see who it was, and it was Coach Diamond. I met him at the front door. “Hey, Coach, come in,” I said, and took his coat. While I hung it up, Dad greeted him and he took a seat to watch the game. “This isn’t a social call,” he said, getting down to business....

I’d set my alarm extra early because I had to be at the CBS This Morning studio by seven. It was snowing out, so I went down to the pool and swam. I really hated to run on a treadmill, so this was the best alternative for me. When I was done, I went to the little diner next to Tyler and Adrienne’s condo building to eat breakfast. I drifted awake in a sea of warmth, feeling both languid and content. I was thinking of the exquisite feelings from last night when I started as I remembered who I’d spent the night with. Junior YearChapter 21 Was it Something I Said

I got up to do my morning run. I asked the girl at the front desk what direction I should go. I didn’t want to end up in a bad neighborhood. She told me that if I ran towards where we went to dinner last night, there was a State Park called White River. Even though the Holiday Inn Express offered a complimentary breakfast, I wasn’t interested in what they had available, so she suggested a diner I could go to. I began my run and it took me by the football stadium. It was different than...

Two games in a row I’d been banged up. I thought about the previous two years, and this one had been far better. Our offensive line had improved and kept me safe most of the year. I’d spent the last few days being a kid. I talked Dad and Greg into going to the lake and breaking out the jet water board. I’d had a small twinge when I remembered this was where Jeff had drowned. Then I remembered this was where Coby had been conceived. I chalked it up to the circle of life and pushed all the negative feelings away. I’d also hit football practice hard. Both Wolf and Tim had taken the week off because football camp with the University of Michigan began today. I had one...

Junior Year Part IIIChapter 7 Think A Little Less

Peggy woke me up and made me run with her. I was in charge of pushing the boys in their running stroller. Duke must have been growing up because we saw three squirrels and he decided to let them live. Either that or Peggy had been getting through to him that dragging her across someone’s front lawn while she had the boys was not in his best interest. We went into breakfast and found that Mom had made sausage and eggs with hash browns. I was a happy boy because there was hot sauce. It was...

Junior YearChapter 9 Know This Wersquove Noticed

When I got to school I saw Halle, Brook, Zoe and Pam all waiting on me. They all looked at me expectantly and I panicked. Who did I say hi to first? Did I dare kiss any of them? I held up my hand to stop them and had a brilliant plan: I called Beth. “Who died?” Beth asked when she answered the phone. “I don’t know, why?” I asked. “Someone had to die for you to call me this early.” “Oh, sorry. I’ll call back,” I offered. “Don’t you dare, ‘stupid boy’. Why did you call?” “I have four...

I hadn’t planned to run this morning because we had our game against St. Joe today. That meant I could sleep in, or so I thought. I heard the door open and Duke bolted to go outside. Peggy told him to hurry up, and for some reason, he minded her. “What are you still doing in bed? Aren’t you running today?” “I have a game today and don’t want to tire out my legs.” “You should probably get some cardio,” she suggested. I really am a ‘stupid boy’ sometimes. I had no idea what she meant until...

Mom was subdued when I entered the kitchen. I just went up to her and held her. I didn’t say anything; nothing seemed right. She finally pulled back, still in my arms, and looked up at me. “David, you can’t know how proud of you I am. You account for far more of my grey hairs than you should, and there are times you act like the goofy kid I still want you to be, but you’re growing up. “Your dad and I talked a lot last night, and I understand why you handled those women the way you did. I...

Junior Year Part IIIChapter 8 Whatrsquos Wrong With My Balls

Duke and I took the boys running in the morning. They seemed to enjoy the runs since it got them out of the house. Peggy had to finish writing a paper for one of her summer classes. I gave her a hard time about being a slacker. That was until she explained how much time the boys took up each day. That shut me up. I was impressed that she could handle raising the boys and going to school. I just seemed to be able to take off and assume everything was being taken care of. I vowed to spend more...

Junior Goes to War Part of the Stopwatch SeriesChapter 2

To the Victor Goes the Spoiled There were only two further demonstrations of the might of the 'Two Mile Island Nation' necessary before America surrendered. A tactical nuclear missile strike was attempted. Eight hundred meters of Cheyenne Mountain, in Colorado, the cornerstone of American Defense was lifted ... shaken, and dropped back in the hole from where it had been. There were many dead. A second strike using a larger warhead was attempted. The Pentagon was removed ... well eight...

Junior Year Part IIChapter 4 Unmasked

I stepped out of my apartment and all but fell on my ass. Duke looked at me like I’d tried to kill him. It had sleeted yesterday and it froze overnight. I began to wonder why I hadn’t just stayed in LA. My part of the shoot had ended yesterday. The cast and production staff had a going-away lunch for me. I’d found several new friends, especially Zak. He was older than I was, but he was a lot nicer to me than Craig Wild had been. I really hadn’t figured out that all the hazing was just him...

Junior Year Part IIIChapter 16 I Might be a Slut

Jet lag is a pain in the rear. It wasn’t this bad flying west. It had taken me a full day to get over the worst of it. When I went to Japan, it had lingered until about Wednesday before I’d reset my internal clock. When I got home, I felt exhausted and irritable. They call it circadian rhythm and it gets disrupted when you travel across multiple time zones. Your body clock, which is set by exposure to light, signals when it’s time to wake up and when it’s time to sleep. Saturday, I went to...

When we arrived in Chicago, we went and got our suitcases from baggage claim. The flight to Japan left in two hours, so we went to the car and dropped off our gear. Paul and I had packed separate bags for Japan, which we grabbed. Paul looked at his phone. “They’re here,” he said, letting me know that everyone going to Japan had been dropped off. I gave my family hugs. “I loved this guys’ week. I can’t wait to see what you plan to top it next year,” I said. “We could go to the nudist...

“What are you doing?” Bianca asked. “Sketching you,” I said, and showed her my drawing. The morning light and the image of her lying in my bed had inspired me to get out my sketchpad and pencils. “Can I have it?” she asked. I signed it and then tore it off the pad. It wasn’t complete, but you got the broad strokes. For goofing off, it was more than enough, as far as I was concerned. I heard the door open and wasn’t surprised when Cassidy came in. She took in the scene and gave me a...

Junior Year Part IIChapter 26 Nut Shots

After our run, Peggy, Duke and I went to the kitchen to find Megan feeding Little David. I went and picked up Coby and kissed his forehead. “Good morning, Daddy,” Megan said. “How was he last night?” I asked. “I could almost set my watch by him waking up and fussing. He’s a good baby, though,” Megan said. “I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you being here. Getting a good night’s sleep is exactly what I need right now,” Peggy said. “That reminds me. I want to get you a thank-you gift,...

Junior Year Part IIIChapter 20 Breakup Song DoOver

I’d made an appointment to meet with Coach Hope before football camp. I wanted to talk some sense into him concerning Phil, Yuri and Roc and their desire to come with me to Mexico. He’d said he might suspend them for the first game if they missed the first week of fall football practices. I thought I might bribe him, so I went to Granny’s West and picked up coffee and cinnamon rolls. I knew they always put me in a good mood, so I assumed they would for Coach, too. “If you have what I think...

Junior Year Part IIInterlude 3

Author’s Note: This is from the Sophomore Year at the beginning of the Fall semester. Uncle John I look back and it’s hard to imagine that it’s been over a year since my nephew, David, came to spend the summer with me. When he arrived, he was a confused and angry young man. You might ask what teenager isn’t. I don’t know, but my sister-in-law may have been even more pissed than he was. My brother is a lucky man because he found Carol and they had two wonderful children. In many ways, I’m...

Junior Year Part IIIChapter 21 Camp David

Duke nudged me to let me know he needed to go out. I looked at the clock and saw I’d only gotten four hours of sleep. At least he’d let me sleep in a little bit. When we went down, we found Precious had waited for him. While the two of them ran around the backyard, I went back up and put on my running gear. When I’d come down again, Duke had found his ball and decided that it had to come on our run. I didn’t feel like negotiating with him and let him take it. He led the way, and when we got...

Cassidy woke me up. “Get up, get up, get up!” she said as she poked me in the ribs, and then noticed I wasn’t alone. Megan popped her head up and then scurried off to the bathroom. “You are a bad, bad boy,” Cassidy scolded. I cocked my head sideways. The only flaw in Cassidy’s logic was Megan had on the same clothes she’d had on last night. I tried to remember what had happened. We were drunk; well, I was drunk. Kent and Hana had gone to their rooms, or so I hoped. Megan made sure I got...

Junior Year Part IIIChapter 25 Girlfriend Tryouts

Most everyone went back home today. I think it would be easier to count the ones that stayed: Mom and Dad, Brook, Halle, Zoe, Pam, Tracy, Beth, and Caryn. Caryn had arranged a charter to take the rest of them back. Tim and Wolf had called and gotten permission to miss a few days of two-a-days to come to watch me play. They’d get a full week of practice in next week and then school would start. I’d be back for the first day of school. I really didn’t mind that I would miss the grind of...

Junior Year Ch 01

I. Moving In August in Missouri is always terribly hot, except when it rains, and then it is just bloody hot. It is constantly humid, some of the worst humidity the North American continent can muster. He may have bitched about it a lot, but really, Logan didn’t mind too much. The heat and humidity just meant that all summer long, the girls wore really short shorts and mid-riff baring tank tops and cute little sandals. He didn’t want to know if it was over a hundred degrees on the day they...

Junior Year Part IIChapter 20 Threersquos A Crowd

Traveling to London with Rita James was an experience I’ll never forget. When we landed after the seven-hour-plus flight, and with the six-hour time change, it was about 11:00 a.m. All I wanted to do was go to bed and get about eight hours of sleep. Rita made me go to the men’s room to wash my face and change my clothes. She reminded me of her lovely daughter who had picked out my wardrobe for me when I lived in LA. Jeans and a t-shirt weren’t cutting it if I was to be seen with her. I put...

Miranda getting out of bed woke me up. When the shower started, I followed her into the bathroom. She’d just started to wash her hair when I stepped in behind her. “Let me,” I said. She had a shampoo-and-conditioner-in-one that smelled like strawberries. I put that away and got out my supplies. Someone needed to educate this poor girl. Mine smelled of ginger. Adrienne had turned me on to Paul Mitchell’s Awapuhi, or Wild Ginger, shampoo and conditioner. I used it during the winter months to...

I came downstairs to run and found my mom and Paul drinking coffee with Melissa. “Sit,” Mom ordered. “What was last night about, and what the hell is ‘redneck crazy?’ From what I heard, you may very well be more than my ‘stupid boy,’ and we’ll have to get your head examined.” Oh, boy! “Pam basically told me she wanted more out of me. I guess it was my ingrained ‘do the right thing’ upbringing that kicked in. If Pam wants to marry me and we bring up Coby as a couple, I’m willing to do...

The change in weather was welcome. We left fifty-degree weather to arrive to a high of eighty-five today. I stopped at the hotel gift store, bought sunscreen, and then met everyone for breakfast. A couple of preteens wanting autographs stopped me on the way to our table. The Star Wars effect was still in force, no pun intended. “I just got a text. All our gear just arrived at the boat,” Brook said. Brook had arranged for most of our stuff to be shipped ahead of time. Neither of us really...

Junior Year Part IIChapter 16 All These Things That Irsquove Said

The day I dreaded was finally here. I had to tell my two ex-best friends the truth of what had happened to them that caused our friendships to fall apart. Looking back, a lot of it was my fault. I’d brought Brandon into our midst. I’d trusted my lawyers when they recommended him to be my PA and help with recruiting. I’d been too trusting and not looked into why he’d left Harvard. Since then I’d requested that Caryn make sure everyone had a background check. I even made them check into people...

We were all told to meet at the Embassy Suites in shorts and t-shirts. I’d put my game uniform and gear into a duffle bag. Most of the guys had done the same, but a few still had their uniforms in the clear plastic bag they’d been given them in yesterday. We were ushered into a large ballroom where we were met by all the coaches and staff. We were then assigned teams. I was put on the team called Pride, along with twelve other boys. Once the teams were announced, our coach pulled us all...

Junior Year Part IIChapter 17 Do You Know Who I Am

Today was the primary election. Polls showed that the governor and Senator Dixon were well ahead of their challengers. Bev Mass was actually down a couple of points. A white police officer shooting a young black man with a history of mental illness was too much for the people of Cook County. If the officer had waited for the Taser unit, which had been called, this would have been a nonevent. To shoot the man sixteen times was too much, as far as I was concerned. Bev agreed and had the officer...

After school I went home to load my car for the trip to New York. I then picked up Kendal and Pam. I think they both thought we planned a month’s visit to the Big Apple, if the amount of luggage was any indication. I, on the other hand, only brought a garment bag and one of those suitcases on little wheels with a telescoping handle. I missed the Charger, because we ended up having to load some luggage in the back seat of the Jeep with Pam. Once we were on the road, my phone rang. “Answer,”...

It felt good to get home. I’d loved my vacation, but there is something about sleeping in your own bed. Being gone all week had made Zoe, Halle and Pam anxious to see me, but I’d promised Caryn I would sit down with her and talk about a budget. She wanted Brook and me to come to her new office, because she wanted to show me what had been done so far. They had gotten the office decorated. I was impressed that there were pictures of the farms and a variety of my movie and modeling images....

Dad and Greg joined Fritz, Halle and me surfing. It was funny how Fritz always got the surfing duty. Bo Harrington and I’d had lunch in Houston so we could talk football. He’d told me that I shouldn’t be surprised if I was told I couldn’t do things like surfing once I was on a college team. It was dead certain it would be banned if I made it to either Major League Baseball or the NFL. Greg was learning, so it was good that the waves were staying small. He had the same gleam in his eyes as...

Cassidy and Kimberly cornered me at breakfast. “I hear you have a new girlfriend,” Cassidy announced. “Haven’t had one in over a year. I rubbed my forehead to fend off the headache that was sure was to come on if this line of conversation continued. “Why don’t you have a girlfriend?” Kimberly asked. “He has this dumb rule where he only ‘dates’ girls. I smiled when my guys hit the lobby in their new clothes. The three amigos all looked good. We all stood out, compared to the other ballplayers. It wasn’t that the others were dressed badly; they just looked like teenage boys. I wore the sport coat I’d gotten in Japan with the graphic on it. I also wore an Abercrombie light blue button-up shirt under the jacket and cream-colored slacks with my new oxblood-red leather tennis shoes. To finish it off I wore my Japanese designer sunglasses. “How’s the girlfriend hunt going?” I gave him my best put-out teenager look and ignored his barb. I guess it was too much for Tami not to tell my mom. What surprised me was Mom thinking it necessary to clue my dad in. I was sure that Uncle John would want to sit down and ‘talk about it.’ “Come on, we need to talk football,” Dad said to change the topic. That instantly put me in a better mood. After several rounds of negotiations, my dad won the trip to London with me. I was going to test for the Han Solo role in the yet to be titled Star Wars prequel. They were doing the casting now because of the new movie, Rogue One, which was filming now. The Han Solo character would make an appearance as a cameo. Marvel used the same strategy for their new Spider-Man by casting Tom Holland early in order for him to cameo in Captain America: Civil War before appearing in his own film. The...

Sheri's mother Rhoda loved her daughter too much! (Does that sound impossible?) One of hollywood producer's worst nightmares is the overprotective, doting yet bossy mother on the scene. They not only have to deal with possible child tantrums and their associated interruptions, but also mothers and THEIR emotional baggage, which includes PMS and its aftermath! Sheri (unfortunately?) was beautiful, poised, talented, well funded for perfect teeth and posture, and a camera "natural". But all...

Junior Year Part IIInterlude 2

Author’s Note: I’ve been working to create a version of the Stupid Boy stories for a wider distribution. One thing that was pointed out was that the stories were too long. To that end I broke them into smaller books. At the beginning of each I’ve added an Interlude to introduce the readers to a more in-depth look at different characters. Kara Tasman is featured in the next chapter, so I thought you might enjoy reading about her. Note that this is from the Freshman Year timeframe, right after...

Junior High Hazing

Junior High Hazing By sissy_babs When I was a young boy of 11 or 12 I was in Junior High School. It was that early in life that I first started to fantasize about cross-dressing and forced feminization although I had no idea what either was. All I knew was that I liked to wear some women's clothing and I felt that I should have been born a girl. I later realized that I didn't want to be a woman. I liked girls, not boys. I just wanted to occasionally wear girl's clothes. At that...

By the time I got back to Adrienne’s, everyone was already up, except Adrienne. What I found surprised me. “Did you see this?” Pam asked, holding up the newspaper. Last night had been an emotional roller coaster. The Alpha Male in me wanted to simply find Brandon and end his miserable life. It had been a close thing, and I finally had to force myself to come home, because the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to beat the living snot out of him. What finally stopped me was the thought of what would happen if I were caught. The fallout could lose me my upcoming movies, and I’d already started spending my signing bonus from the next two Star...
