Ken stood on the flag bridge of the Washington, and looked at the holomap. The Oregon was five hundred miles to his portside. The destroyers Bulldog, Boxer and Doberman were in an arrow formation directly ahead of the two battleships. Behind the flagship, the remaining ships of the fleet stretched out to their individual time drops. The last ones were the hospital ships, while directly behind him were the assault cruisers.
Worried about what was going to happen, Ken chewed on his cigar. So many people were depending on him, and his new fleet. Questions raced through his mind. Where they ready? What if more ships where there then what was supposed to be. What if they nuke the prisoners when we try to free them? Suddenly Jessica interrupted his thoughts.
Jessica looked over at her new husband and saw he was very worried. Splitting her image, she appeared in hundreds of compartments at the same time, from weapons posts to environmental, and she got a status check from all compartments. As each report came in, that image vanished and with a smile on her face, she saw they were ready as possible.
Walking over to Ken, she gave her report, "Admiral, ninety seconds until fold shut down, all systems are a go. All fighters and bombers are ready to launch when you give the okay. Missiles are armed, weapon stationed are manned and automatic light pulse cannons are online." Cocking her head to the side, she looked at Ken and asked in a calm voice, "Are you ok, my love?"
Ken smiled at his beautiful wife and replied, "I'm fine, Jess. Thank you for asking."
Turning his head he looked at Commander Susan Alexander at the communications console and said, "Susan, please open a com to all ships, all compartments."
Ken walked over to his command chair and sat down.
Susan's fingers flew over the holographic board and she replied, "Channel open, Sir."
"Thank you, Susan."
Looking at the main screen, he starts speaking, "This is Admiral Thompson; I wanted to wish everyone good luck and God speed. We have the technology, the knowledge and the right of vengeance for what has been done to our loved ones. We will be victorious until our enemies are destroyed and our people are free. As Sir Winston Churchill said in 1940, 'Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.' Although he was talking about the fighter pilots of the RAF; here, I'm talking about everyone of you. All hands in the fleet, Red Alert, man your battlestations. We begin Operation Dunkirk in ten minutes. Flag, out."
Around the fleet, the crews sealed their compartments and brought up their forcefields, weapon mounts became live, and shield generators went to full power. Down in the launch bay, four nervous young women walked around their fighters doing their final pre-flight inspection. Each fighter was painted a different color. They stood out against the dark blue fighters of the rest of the fleet. With their inspections of their fighters finished, they gathered and hugged each other. Walking over to the corner, they held each other's hands.
Tina looked at her friends, reached into her pocket, and pulling out four small cases.
Then she said, "Amy, come here, please."
Amy appeared and smiled at her friends, and asked, "What's up, ladies?"
Tina smiled and said, "I need a witness."
"Oh?" before she could finish Tina knelt in front of her friends, "OH!" Amy said,
Tina looked up at her friends and said, "Maria, Kathleen and Shannon, would you three become my wives?"
The three girls looked at each other, and then pulled Tina to her feet and kissed her hard, as they whispered their yeses in her ears.
Tears ran down her face as she pulled Maria into her arms. Opening the small case with her name on it, she said, "Maria Sandalwood, with this ring I thee wed, to forever to love, honor and protect you, so help me God."
As the ring slipped onto Maria's hand, she kissed her.
Tears ran down Maria's face as she returned the kiss and she whispered, "I love you."
Tina quickly married Shannon and Kathy. They stood there holding Tina's hand as they slipped the gold band on her finger as they said, "Tina Wayne, with this ring we wed thee, to forever to love honor and protect you, so help us God."
Amy stood there watching the four young women proclaim their love to each other, unknown they had another witness.
Kalaria stood there and cried as she watched them hug each other, and she whispered, "Love each other, and protect each other."
She then turned and walked away.
"Congratulations you four, what last name do you want?"
Before Tina could say anything, Maria said, "Wayne! And thank you for being here, Amy."
Shannon and Kathy nodded their heads in agreement, and Amy entered it in the log.
"So noted, and good luck. Fly safe, now. I need to go," she said as she vanished.
Tina smiled and looked at her best friends ... no wives, and said, "Are we ready to kick ass and chew bubblegum?"
"Damn! I knew I forgot something," replied Kathy Hernandez as she started searching her flight suit.
Everyone started laughing at the joke, as Kala walked up in her flight suit, and said "Ladies, are we all ready to go? Also, congratulations you four on your bonding and becoming one house love each other and protect each other."
Coming to attention all four girls blushed at the same time and a serious look came across their faces, as Tina said, "Ma'am! Yes Ma'am! Apocalypse Squadron is a go. Thank you for your words."
"Your welcome, but you had better get in your ships. We drop out in thirty seconds."
Before she could continue, the four girls were running for their fighters and climbing up into them. Shaking her head she prayed their eagerness did not get them all killed. Walking over to her repaired fighter, she patted the armor and checked that all the pulse lasers caps were removed. Then she climbed up into the cockpit, and started powering up.
Activating the newly installed com unit she said, "This is Commander Kalaria, to all pilots; bring your fighters to 'power up'. We launch when the doors open..." she stopped for a second and gathered her thoughts before she continued, "Pilots of the Washington, good luck. Let's free our people! Remember stay in pairs. Cover each other on your attack runs. Kalaria..."
The ship shimmered, the klaxons started blaring, and the massive launch bay door started descending. As soon as she had enough room to get out, Kala shoved her throttle up to full power. The thirty thousand pound fighter started rolling, and then shot through the hangar shield, and back into space.
Behind her, more fighters started boiling out of the ships as the warships opened up on the nearby Crytherian ships.
Bringing her sensors on line, Tina's eyes searched around. They quickly locked on to a massive battleship between the Oregon and Washington and identified its class.
Back up on the command bridge, the crew jumped to their assignments as sensors, communications and weapons officers started doing their jobs.
"Admiral, we have an Orient class battleship between us and the Oregon. I'm scanning for the second battleship now," replied Susan as she looked into her scanners, and continued, "I've got her, Sir. She is coming around the primary, now. The second battleship is between us, and the space stations. We were off our mark by one AU, at least."
"Very well, no use crying over spilled milk. Open fire on the Crytherian battleships as they near us. Orders to the greyhounds, they are to engage all smaller ships. Launch all fighters and bombers, their targets are any ship trying to get away."
The mighty warship opened up and antimatter explosions danced down the side of the Crytherian battleship as she opened fire with her rail guns, heavy pulse lasers, and missiles.
Captain Haln of the Battleship Os grabbed the armrests of his chair as his ship came under heavy attack by two strange warships. One out massed his ship two to one in size while the other was even a little larger.
The strangers opened fire on his command without warning and he snarled, "Open fire, all batteries. Launch all bombers."
"Sir, opening fire, we shall feed them to Kalshean God of Death."
Shaking his head at the weapons officer comment, he replied, "Keep firing, and target their weapons, helm climb us up out of this cross fire."
Both officers replied and jumped to their work, the huge battleship started climbing above the plane of attack, and then her shields started to collapse.
"Shield failure, rear quadrant."
"Get them back up," replied Haln as the first of the explosions started detonating along his flank.
Ten million miles away a swarm of heavy bombers came sweeping in on a heavy cruiser. Captain Vickie Henderson aligned her bomber up and started firing her torpedoes at the nimble ship. Flanking her, ten other bombers added their ordnance and the shields exploded from the multiple hits. Yanking back on the control stick, she stood her plane on its tail and fired her afterburners, leaving the ship behind as an Odin missile came in and slammed into the enemy ship's flank.
The cruiser Star Fury exploded as the enemy missiles slammed into her. Attacked from all directions, she had no chance, and there were no survivors.
Captain Haln Looked at the main screen. He saw the some small craft that were like the ones that had destroyed the Star Fury, heading right towards him.
Tina brought her fighter around to the bow of the huge battleship and aligned up on the bridge, around her, her wives fighters followed her. Turning on the tactical frequency, she activated the language conversion software as well as the com unit, and said, "To the Crytherian battleship. Know this! We are your death! We find you and your race guilty of murder, and slavery. I personally find you guilty of the death of our parents. Go to hell you bastards! Apocalypse Squadron, out." Changing back to her fighter frequency, she continued speaking, "Launch Odins! Launch Galahads!"
"Sir, we have a message from the ships heading towards us."
"What's it say?" he asked.
"Sir, I'm confused on this, but it said, 'To the Crytherian battleship. Know this! We are your death! We find you and your race guilty of murder, and slavery. I personally find you guilty of the death of our parents. Go to hell you bastards! Apocalypse Squadron, out.' That is all they said, what do they mean?"
"What?" he said as he looked up, and he saw four missiles leave the four ships and head for his command. Dozens of smaller missiles followed.
Fear flew through his gut as he saw the missiles, and he shouted out, "Destroy those missiles."
The four thirty foot long, missiles dropped from the fighters and streaked towards the battleship, which started firing on them as the smaller faster missiles flew past them. Some of the smaller missiles were intercepted and exploded, but a handful smashed into the enemy's bow. Their antimatter warheads reached critical mass, and they exploded.
The battleship's weapons went silent as its shields crashed down. The energy released by the antimatter warheads climbed over the bow, wiping out gun mounts and shield generators. Two of the giant Odin's were destroyed, but the remaining two smashed into the huge ship and detonated.
The resulting explosion threw the Federation fighters around the system like toys. The shock wave blossomed out from the destroyed battleship and shoved the two battleships apart. Washington found herself tossed among some Crytherian cruisers while the Oregon went hurtling towards Tau Ceti.
The rest of the fighters, in pairs and in squadrons, swept through the system. They targeted weapon platforms, courier boats and destroyers, blasting them to smithereens with antimatter warheads. The Washington fought her way out amongst ten Crytherian heavy cruisers. Over near Tau Ceti the Oregon turned and started engaging the second battleship that had appeared from behind the planet.
Ken staggered to his feet, and asked, "What the hell happened?"
"The Crytherian battleship has been destroyed. We are now under attack by ten of their Tiger class heavy cruisers." Amy said as the ship shuddered under the combined firepower of the cruisers.
Ken looked at the holographic board and sees the ship is being surrounded. "Split all batteries! Right front, left front, right rear, left rear! Target those cruisers and take them out. Launch reserve fighters."
Down on the bottom of the ship, the last two landing bays dropped open, and another hundred fighters streaked from their cradles. Across the system, the Bulldog latched onto a Crytherian cruiser. Just like the Terran dog she was named after, she refused to let go. Whipping around the enemy ship, she opened the enemy hull like a can of beans.
Suddenly, the Bulldog exploded, as other Crytherian weapons punched into her forward magazine. The antimatter warheads exploded as the magazine was crushed. The explosion ripped the cruiser apart, destroying several merchant ships and shattering the thirty fighters that were racing to aid her.
"Admiral the Bulldog has been destroyed, we have also lost contact with thirty-four fighters. I've beacons on sixteen pilots."
"Launch SARS. Tell the destroyers to pair..." before he could continue several cruisers exploded under the bombardment they were receiving from the Washington. The weapons that had been firing on those cruisers turned. They opened up on the next cruisers in line. Explosions started detonating out of the hulls of the cruisers. Fighters started darting between the enemy ships, launching Galahad missiles into the huge ships.
American Fleet The Abraham Lincoln turned and started firing into the weakened shields of the Washington. Suddenly the shields failed and explosions detonated from the side of the massive ship. Admiral Callaghan grinned as he watched the ship heave as a dozen antimatter rounds slammed into the side of the battleship and half her weapons went down. "Keep hitting them. Blow those bastards away!" Mathew said with glee in his voice. "I am sir, do you want me to pull their teeth so we can...
Ted staggered to his feet, smoke pouring from several consoles around the bridge, sitting down into his chair he snapped out orders, "Damage report!" "Sir, we have a fire in landing bay delta, damage to port side weaponry, shields down to forty percent. I'm estimating ten minutes to full recharge, minor damage to secondary engine four. Hull is intact, no breaches. Casualty report coming in now, thirty-nine dead, sixteen wounded." "Status report on the Crytherian battleship?" Ensign...
Amy appeared on the bridge deck, and quickly reacted to the damage. Activating the tractor beams, she reached out and latched onto the crew. Only two were sucked out, as internal forcefields she had installed snapped on and covered the openings. Activating her communications system, she issued her orders. "This is Amy, I need medical teams to the main bridge we have casualties." Walking around the room, she checked each crewmember and finally knelt by her sister-wife. "Tammy, please...
Federation Fleet Day 5 of conflict The Federation cruiser USS Atlanta LCAM 2 followed behind her sister ship the San Juan as they curled inward towards the Earth and the space docks. Three destroyers led the column with three destroyers behind them. They were nine million three hundred thousand miles from the captured space docks, and closing. Captain Joan Whitman sat in her command chair, taking a sip of her coffee. On the view screen, she could make out the landing bay of the San Juan as...
Ken jerked his head around to the main tactical screen. "To all ships! Red alert! All hands man your battlestations!" Ken ordered. He turned and walked quickly to the main CIC panel. He looked at the hyper wake coming in. "Estimated time of arrival?" "Six minutes, Sir," replied the sensor officer. "Stack us up. I want a full broadside of weapons to bear on the targets. Launch all fighters." "Yes, Sir! Launching all fighters, stacking the ships." "Dispatch the rest of...
Mars Base: Federation Side Thirteen-year-old Mitchell Young sat back from his computer screen, looked at the final design of the APES, and watched the simulation run. Within seconds, they had devastated a unit of T'Lari warriors. Reaching over to the keypad, he typed in a few commands and watched the T'Lari change to battle Mechs and it took a little bit longer but they were able to wipe out the twenty Mechs for the loss of only five of the APES. With a grin, he said, "It's going to...
Six weeks later, Ken sat at his desk going through Captain Windsor's logs. He was looking for the clues he suspected were there. "Tammy, it says here, that the Washington was split in half at the battle of Tallis. When she was rebuilt, she was two hundred feet longer than before. I think that is where Jessica is; I think she is in that area. We have been over everything else. Amy, please bring up a pair of holograms of the ship as she used to look and as how she looks now." The image...
Philadelphia: 11:50 A.M. Tim let Amy cry in his arms as he held the woman who brought hope to a lot of people of this world. So she went overboard and took justice in her hands. He thought it was worth it as far as he was concerned. He felt Amy gently push on him so he released her. "Feeling better?" he asked. "Yeah, I am. Thank you, Tim," Amy replied. "Good, what are your orders?" Tim asked. Amy laughed and replied, "Tim you out rank me. I'm only a commander while...
"Show me this ship," snarled Captain Tal. The screen changed and a ship that was five times larger than their own appeared on the screen. Her white hull was gleaming and her navigational lights were lit up. She was less then five miles away from his command. Tal stood there, and looked at the huge ship; he then turned to his weapons officer, and said, "Fire on that ship! Turn us hard starboard, full speed ahead. Launch countermeasures." The Dancer opened fire with her pitiful weapons...
Governor Kailnis watched the strange ships come down. Before he could activate his defenses, the weapons on the freighter blew them away. "Order up the guard! We need to stop these invaders, send orders to the fleet to get us help..." an explosion stopped what he was saying and he turned his head and saw one of the armored hover cars explode as a giant war machine came in sight, and he continued, "Destroy that thing." Heavy laser cannons opened up from the top of the defense wall and...
The sounds of Sonny Rollins drifted though the room as Lisa sat at the table, reading her medical books. Sitting beside her was a half-eaten grilled cheese sandwich and a glass of milk. Cheri was playing with her squeaky toy. Lisa rubbed her head trying to get rid of her headache that has been bothering her for three days. Suddenly she snapped at the dachshund, "Cheri! Stop squeaking that damned thing." Under the coffee table, Cheri dropped her toy and whimpered. Turning around, her...

President Thomas Kincaide was sitting down to his breakfast with his wife, when his chief of staff came into the dining room. "Mr. President, we have a situation out in Las Vegas, it seems a large ship was sighted taking off from somewhere in Northern Arizona. Nellis AFB dispatched five F-16s to investigate it. The tower was in contact with the planes when suddenly all communications was cut off. Nellis dispatched an additional ten more planes to the area, but nothing has been found of the...
Captain John Stratton was fuming; ever since they had been brought onboard, they have been ignored. Walking back and forth in front of his men, he went over to the door and pounded on it some more. "Hey out there, I want to talk to whoever is in charge." Lieutenant Michael McCall sat in one of the chairs, watching his commanding officer pace. He called to him, "John!" Getting no response, he tried again, "Hey Iceman, calm down, they will get to us when they can. You heard the intercom....
05:30 Pluto, Base Station Elysian, 1-14-05 Ken watched the fleet approach the huge dry dock. The ships were spreading out for the docking arms as he turned and looked at his wife Tammy who was giving her fleet orders. "Helm. All ahead, slow. Starboard thrusters, minimum fire, in three ... two ... one ... engage," Tammy said as she sat in the command chair. "Firing thrusters, Ma'am," replied Commander Stella Salaneo. The huge ship slowly slid down the length of the gantry until it was...
Captured Space Docks Admiral Farragut froze when the round blew the com unit apart, which was built into his desk. He looked at his assailant. Before he could say anything or move, a dart slammed into his chest, and he flew out of his chair and crashed to the floor. Walking over to the man, the figure knelt beside him, and bound his hands and feet. Pulling out a scanner, the person scanned the man and found his locator beacon. With a quick tapping of keys, the scanner shut the beacon down....
Ken sat and listened to Amy, and then turned to the others. "First, I think we need to catch this psychopath before he kills his next victim. We have to do it. Then, we should get the Washington back up into space. After that, we need to recruit a crew," turning back to Amy he added, "I just thought of something. Do you have to be at the asteroid belt for your spider bots to build? And if not, is there a way we can get the spider bots there, quickly?" "Yes, we could use a shuttle and...
Around the system, ships started hypering out. The ships destined to stay, started recovering the injured and helpless from the explosions on Terra; while Commodore White, along with his wife Maria, begin dealing with the UN. Two weeks later, the ships dropped out of fold and reformed into their attack wings. Ken stood on the Flag Bridge, facing the main viewer. On the screen were Captain Nickolas Johansson of the Hope, and Captain Jenny Mai-ling of the Freedom Train. "Captains, good...
Commodore Thompson stood there issuing orders to the crew of the Oregon. "Lieutenant I want to know what is going on. Who authorized the launching of those mech lifters?" On the screen, lifter after lifter was dropping out of the bay and heading north. "How many mechs?" Lieutenant Commander Shawn Edwards looked at the Commodore and replied, "Sir, I don't know. All I know is that the red alert went off in the mech bay, and then three wings of mechs or thirty mechs loaded up and left...
Federation Fleet The Washington led her fleet towards the captured Space Docks where they circled the Earth, at five hundred thousand miles. Ken stood on the flag bridge with his wives and watched the American ships maneuvering in front of them. "Admiral, the American fleet is joining up. They have fifteen destroyers and four light cruisers," Lieutenant Jinnah Chin reported. "Thank you lieutenant, we will stick with the plan," Admiral Tammy Thompson said. "Yes, Ma'am. I am sending...
Captured Crytherian Space Dock Captain Sammy O'Rourke-Anderson watched as the twenty spider bots continued to build the small ship. It was now over eighty percent completed. Walking to the door, she looked out into the hall and saw it was still clear. "Come on Kevin, get your ass back here," Sammy snarled as she heard a clang behind her. Shutting the hatch, she walked back to the dock and watched the spiders lift a section of the black hull up to the side of the ship and fasten it to the...
Mars Base: Brigadier General Mark Anthon was a beaten man. He stood with his men in the giant hanger. Guards stood around the nine hundred officers and men. As force fields kept them in the enclosure, he looked over at his second in command who was glaring daggers at him. "Colonel Wright, I had no choice but to surrender. They were wiping us out," Mark said as he sipped his coffee. "Sir, with all due respect, my infantry could have taken this base. You have failed..." "Colonel James...
Ken sat up on the medical bed and swung his legs over the side as Tina hugged him around the waist. Looking down at the young girl, he kissed her forehead, and said, "Thank you for saving me." Seeing the blush on her face he chuckled, and said, "And that goes for you too, Amy, wherever you are." "Right here, Sir. I was going over the logs to see what I had missed," she said as she appeared. Ken let Tina go, looking over his shoulder at Amy, and said, "Anything important, that I...
Court "Commander Amy Thompson, by a count of 7 to 0 we, the court, find you guilty of all charges. You are sentenced to death and the destruction of your capsule and your ship," Sandi said as she looked at the woman. Amy's knees buckled and she collapsed to the floor, and muttered quietly, "my baby. Don't kill my baby, oh God please don't let them kill my baby." "This court will reform inside the capsule room of the USS Washington's primary interface and initiate the destruction...
Ken stood in his office. With the forward wall pulled back, he could look out over the bow of the great ship. In the distance, the Oregon, along with three destroyers, blasted chunks out of Io - one of Jupiter's larger moons - scaring the landscape as he watched the target practice taking place. Walking over to his desk, he sat down, and went over the last report from the Dachshund. They had found a strange signal emanating from the planet Pluto, and how they were trying to track it down...
She stood there and watched the four friends hug each other, and talk. She moved around the room and sat in one of the chairs. She studied each one, and listened as they talked about the fall. The one she had saved, Ken, was tall and handsome. He projected an aura of possible command material. The other male, jumped right in, and took over. He showed confidence and determination, a possible recruit as a Marine. The one, who carried her sensor crystal, had a quick mind, and a sharp eye. She...
Luis Fajardo looked out the picture window of downtown Bogotá Columbia. Picking up the paper, he read the article again. Slamming the paper down, he turned and looked at his companions. "Damn it! We have to stop these people from distributing these serums. They are going to give this miracle drug away free, and our product won't affect the people who use it. That will prevent them from buying from us. We need to stop them, but how? Already sales are down fifteen percent, because the...
Let me say right up front that Gunther was definitely not a young man.I knew he had been around the Santa operation at the North Pole long before I arrived with my bright ideas for cost reduction. I was called in to promote increased toy production by the easily distracted Elves. Those little imps preferred being silly rather than busy little workers focused on their quotas like dedicated employees. As a small-sized human male, I was able to relate easily to the female Elves because they liked...
Fantasy & Sci-FiDeep in the hull of the T'Lari battleship, Ka'Nisk walked into the secondary bridge. He looked around as his crew gathered at their stations. "Are we ready?" he asked. Tb'Nar turned from his command turrets. "Sir, power is coming online. I have weapons status on three hundred of the missile bays, and thirty of the laser cannons. Engines are at forty percent power. Anti-gravity generators are online and ready to go. Shield generators are reading thirty percent. We can lift off...
Amy paced through the medical ward aboard the ship, while the spiders continued their maintenance. Down in the main cavern, the spiders scurried about the cavern, and over two gantries as they worked. Amy did a quick check and saw all systems were a go. She walked over to Ken and looked down at his peaceful face. She leaned down through the force field and kissed him, and tapped into Ken's nanobots. She was regretting what she had to do, but knew that she must. For they all needed to learn...
Jenny paced back in forth in her room. Her nerves were on edge as she walked in her cabin. All around her room hung the items for her upcoming wedding to Ted. She knew it was supposed to be a day of celebration, but with the casualty count still coming in from Reno, she was terrified that something would go wrong. Jenny stopped as her eyes fell on her long white wedding gown. Even with Jessica and Amy acting as their wedding coordinator, the date had been pushed back a few days due to the...
Va'Talki walked into the probe room. In his arms he held a struggling child that he tossed in the corner. "Don't you move," he said as he shut the door. Going over to a console built into the wall, he powered it up. The holographic board came up on the panel, and he started programming the automatic probe launcher. Pressing another control, he looked to his right, and watched as the probe launcher moved and a heavy laser battery moved into the tubes position as the iris...
American Space Navy Near Space Dock One: 1-17-05, 11:29 A.M. American battle cruiser America Captain Richard Potter watched the Federation cruiser he was firing on, her shields had collapsed and now internal explosions were ripping through her hull. He knew that inside it was becoming a death trap and with the ship crippled he made his decision. "Ensign Wilcox, break lock, and target the next ship," he said as he watched two heavy cruisers coming to the Federation ship's rescue. Ensign...
After talking for an hour, everyone turned in and got some sleep. While they slept, Amy watched over them, by making an image of herself appear in each room. Sitting in a chair, she watched them sleep, and sighed with contentment. A crew, at last! It had been so long since she'd had anyone on board that she could talk with. She then went back to examining their plans about using the mech warriors as ground assault vehicles. She took what information she could find on the computer game (and...
She was running! From what, she didn't know. All she knew, was it was behind her, always behind her. When she looked, she could not find it. Its heavy breathing was heard, and its breath was on the back of her neck. Pain flared through her body, as she was missing something that was important to her. She was running through a ship, being pursued by the darkness, running through the sterile walls of force screens, it was so close she could feel it. It was behind her, and it reached out and...
Ted walked down the hallway, passing people who were being guided out of the medical bays, and were being lead back down to the shuttles. Passing a side passageway, he started to head into medical when he heard the crying. Turning around, he saw a brown haired girl sitting against the wall. Her dress was slightly dirty, and her knees were pressed tightly to her chest as she rocked. Walking over, he saw she was about eight years old. Kneeling beside her, he said, "Hi, I'm Ted. Are you...
The Federation battleship USS Washington: 1:50 P.M. Jessica handled the ship as though she was born to do it. The ship was shrugging off the enemy fire and her weapons were firing at the Washington D.C. shield trying to take it down. Turning her head she smiled at her husband and wife as the status reports came in from the fleet. "Enemy shield down to 36% power," reported Lieutenant Akiko Fujimoto. "Thanks, Akiko. Keep up the pressure," Tammy said just as Jessica screamed and the ship...
On the main screen, the shuttle with the NAT teams moved into the hanger and shut down. The image changed and they saw the twenty-four men and woman come down the ramp with their weapons on their shoulders. They were followed by eight techs, who would work the equipment in the dome. Ken sat back and watched the shuttle. His mind wandered back to the trial and all that had happened that day. Trial Ken looked up at the sound of the chimes at his door. "Come!" The doors slid open and...
The girls separated and headed for their quarters, where they started packing their belongings. Tina skipped down the passageway to her cabin, and opened the door and stopped. "Oh no! Sampson, what have you done?" Walking in, she looked at the dog's head and chest. It was covered in pizza sauce. The table was overturned. Shaking her head, she started cleaning the mess up. Ten minutes later, she had the auto-vac vacuuming the floor. She led Sampson into the bathroom, got the shampoo out...
I slid the report into the proper file just as he walked into the room. Dennis Butz stood there wearing his three-piece suit, looking as handsome and charming as any man could. But I was not to be tamed by his charm. "Hello, Linda," he said with a friendly grin. "Judge Herns isn't in today," I replied back in a frosty tone. "I'm not here to see her." "My plane leaves in less then an hour Dennis, what do you want?" I slammed the file drawer shut and walked past him to my desk...
Kevin sneaked through the darkened ship, his plasma rifle at 'port arms' and ready to fire. Watching for the 'bugs' as he walked down the passageway, he came to an intersection. Stopping, he looked carefully in all four directions, and listened. Detecting nothing, he leaned down and marked the floor in the way he had come. He turned and moved to the right. Moving past a door, he looked in. Then he heard the scream. Jerking his head up, he ran silently towards the screaming and came to...
The transport tube doors opened and they stepped out into the hallway outside of the medical bay. Turning she led them down the short corridor and into the medical section. Molly was helping a young man to sit up in his bed as they entered. She was holding a glass in her hand. Once the patient had taken a drink from the glass, she set it down on the table. "Molly, I have some guests for you," Tammy said. "Be right there, Tammy." Looking at the young man she said, "Lieutenant Myers,...
Molly watched her new friends drive away. When they were out of sight, she turned back to her mother. She stepped back in to her mother's arms and gave her a hug. Stopping the hug, she looked her mom in the face. "Mom, how about pizza tonight?" Kathleen looked at her baby, and she felt complete again as she realized the hole in her heart was once again filled. "What ever you want sweetie, the number for Pizza Hut is on the fridge like always." Shaking her head, she replied, "No mom,...
Tina Wayne stormed into her room. The com had just announced that Admiral Thompson had reassigned all the adults under the age of seventeen back to Mars base. Grabbing a vase off the nearest table and hurled it across the room. It shattered into myriad pieces, against the far wall. "How dare he do this to me? He has no right!" she screamed. Sampson came boiling out of her bedroom, a half chewed bone dangling from his mouth. Seeing his mistress he ran over to her, his two hundred pound...
Ko'Nar heard the accursed Marines coming. He stood there waiting. His knives were ready, and in the rooms on each side of the passageway, some of the Royal guard stood ready to fight. Hearing the breathing of the humans, he waited until he saw the gun, and swung his upper left arm. The knife hit his target in its eye, and it went deep into its brain. Screaming as he stepped around, he started to hack at the next human, as it pointed a strange weapon at him. The next thing he knew, he was on...
Ted looked down at Shawn, and said, "Raise construction dock one, I want to talk to the Commodore Thompson in person." "Aye-aye, Captain." Turning the com on again, he said, "USS Oregon to Space Dock One." "This is dock one, Ensign Vincent Hubber speaking. How could I direct your request?" "Ensign Hubber, Captain White needs to speak with Commodore Thompson ASAP." "I will transfer you to his office." Shawn quickly replied, "Thank you." "Commodore Thompson's office, how...
Corporal Ricker watched the T'Lari go through the dead ones, and start eating them. Within three minutes, it had cracked open a leg and sucked marrow out of the bones it found. Suddenly his com chimed in his head and he heard Tom Morris' voice. 'Corporal Ricker, this is Corporal Tom Morris. I am bringing in twenty-one survivors, one critically wounded, two KIA. Sean is one of the dead, but he went down fighting.' 'Okay, Tom. Let me take care of the T'Lari that's eating his...
Ted watched the Chinook helicopter, flying due north, disappear behind some nearby mountains. "Rita, where the hell is that damn lander that I asked for?" Ted said as he scanned the sky. "It will be above us in forty-five seconds. I suggest you come to a stop so it can pick us up." Ted brought the fifty-ton Mech to a stop, and scanned for the lander. The two hundred thousand ton ship came out of the clouds and hovered directly above him. The iris opened in the bottom of the ship. A...
Sammy stood there, her axe and knife clutched firmly in her hands as she looked up at the creature, trembling in fear. The fourteen-foot tall creature reared up, its twenty-foot long tail swinging up and over its head. Its front upper claws clicked together as the lower two hands held giant swords. Its mandibles clicked and crunched the remains of the small child in its mouth. She looked down on the two humans as her forked tongue cleaned her face of blood and gore. "I so love your small...
Aboard Space Dock One, Commodore John Thompson walked out of his office and headed for his personal shuttle. It was docked in one of the many launch bays on the twenty-mile long space dock. Walking through the concourse, he looked out at the USS Ark Royal. He saw the ship was almost completed. The command tower was going up as he watched. He picked up the pace and entered the shuttle bay to find his aide standing there. Lieutenant Susan Blake ... all of four foot nine inches of her, with her...
Commander Jimmy Hutcheson led the five groups of Seals down the Truckee River. A couple of fighters seemed to be flying search patterns so he had his men duck back under the water and hug the bottom of the river. Swimming along they pass the wreckage of downtown, and head the three miles toward the City of Sparks. Two hours later, after they surface near the backside of the 'Reno Hilton' the teams fanned out along the riverbank while Jimmy stripped out of his black suit and pulled on some...
Stepping out of the transport tube, Tammy walked into the medical bay, and over to a young girl. Looking down, she saw a beautiful child lying there, who should not have a care in the world. "Ashley, we will make it better for you, I promise." Tammy looked around the huge room, and saw Molly down at the far end talking to someone, and wandered down that way. As she got closer, she saw Commander Hutcheson sitting up in one of the beds. "Commander, you should start feeling better, now....
Dreams and the Launching of the attack Richard grabbed the tail of the creature they had killed. With it still stuck in the hole, he braced his feet and tried to pull it free, or turn it. He heard another click as it turned in the other direction. The hum disappeared as a loud snap came from behind him. Looking over his shoulder, he saw a huge bed, with piles of human skulls around it. A computer console stood next to the bed. "Damn it! It wasn't the tail that took out the gravity, it was...
Asteroids tumbled around the two Crytherian freighters as they slowly skirted the Oort cloud, at edge of the system. Aboard the Crytherian freighter, Bountiful Trove, Captain Jelkisa watched their escorts hyper to the ninth planet, to check out the sensor target they have picked up. Watching the view screen, he said, "Navigator Tilsi, set coordinates for two destinations, one the ninth planet, the other for the planet Karsakini." Turning to another Crytherian he continued, "Liskeria,...
Wand, Book and Candle, Part 1 By Elliot Reid "If I chance to talk a little wild, forgive me; I had it from my father." I snapped the book shut, eyes unfocusing from the text. With my fingers I massaged my temples, kneading tension away. I was approaching my birthday with mixed feelings. In two days I'd be sixteen. I'd have crossed another threshold. Would I feel more grown-up? I looked over at the stack of comic books by my bed, beside the Joseph Campbell and the Homer that I was...

Ken watched the Captains file out and head back to their own ships. Sitting in his chair, he smiled at Kala, and said, "I think your plan is going to work, at least the other Captains were excited about..." he said. He looked up as the doors open and Tammy walked in.
