That night I had the wildest dream about Shannon.
Okay, my dreams had always been a little unusual. That was the reason I wanted to get into psychology and why I had wanted to talk to Mr. Shelby. For one thing, I never have nightmares, at least nothing like what other people talked about. I almost always have dreams in the 'first person' sense. Meaning I saw them as if I were living the scene. That's not unusual in itself. Many people dream this way. What was unusual was that in 'first person' I have control. It didn't matter what was happening. If I didn't like something, it changed. Do you fly in your dreams? I do, a lot. So naturally I never fall off of tall buildings, down wells, over cliffs, nothing like that. I always see me as myself, not as some heroic figure or anything like that, but in my dreams I have always been the absolute master. Kind of like Keanu Reeves as Neo in 'The Matrix, ' only in a different way. Sometimes I seem to be in 'invisible' mode, where I am an observer. I see myself in different situations and circumstances. Or more frequently, I see places and situations as if watching them on television, except that I am in the action, I walk through doors, or walls for that matter. The observer me that is, the other me has to operate in the normal framework of the scene. What's weird is that sometimes I would see things in this mode that I have never experienced before, which looking back is very unusual but I didn't know that at the time. That night I finally realized what was really happening.
Dinner and the rest of the evening went normally. As expected Mom and Dad wanted to know how it all went. With much editing I ran down my day. I told them my schedule. They were surprised that I had gotten into Psychology, which reminded me that I had not told Mark about it either. I explained that I had met Mr. Shelby and shook his hand and he was impressed with my attitude and opened up a slot for me.
My dad was thrilled. "I keep telling you, son. A good handshake is the basis for a strong first impression. You will be surprised how many doors you can open that way."
I had already decided that he didn't need to know about the other doors it seemed to have opened already. I still got a flush just remembering the feel of Miss Swann's hands. Coach Jenkins was different but nothing like Susan's. The rest of the evening was pretty ordinary. I grabbed a shower and was in bed by 9:30.
Lying in bed trying to relax, the high points of my day sped past in rapid succession, including the touch of Susan's hands and the dark points poking up through Shannon's very wet T-shirt.
Next thing I knew I was in 'invisible watcher' mode back in Mark's garage seeing myself staring at Shannon's breasts. But it wasn't the same. Mark wasn't there. I was again standing there with my 'deer in the headlights' slack-jawed stare when the door opened just like before. But instead of Karen sending Mark to the store she announced that she was going. She then got into her car and backed out. She must have hit her garage door opener as she pulled away because suddenly the door was dropping down and the garage was getting darker. Soon, the only illumination was from the window on the side of the garage.
"So, Jimmy, did you like what you saw?" Shannon said, looking me in the eye.
"Uh, I didn't see anything," I stammered.
"Well then, maybe you should look again." Then she dropped the towel. I watched as my eyes bugged out. "So what do you think now?" she asked with a smile. I was speechless, both of me. This had not happened. Then things really took a left turn from reality. Shannon reached down, grabbed the bottom of her shirt, peeled it up over her head and dropped it onto the floor next to the towel. If I was speechless before I was absolutely dumbstruck now. "Do you like them, Jimmy?" she asked as she ran her hands up over her stomach and cupped her breasts. She squeezed the nipples between her fingers and shuddered slightly. "Oh Jimmy, they're cold, could you help me get them warmed up?" She took both of my hands and placed them on her breasts. I could feel the hard nipples pressing into my palms. And they were cold. The instant her lips touched mine the scene spun and suddenly I was looking at her through my own eyes. The view had changed. I had gone from 'invisible observer' to first person. I lost my balance for just a second but quickly recovered. What the hell is going on? How can I be dreaming about kissing a half naked Shannon in her garage? If this was fantasy then where did the basis come from? I'd never fantasized about Shannon before. I had always treated her more as a second sister. And now here I was kissing her. I had no clue what was going on or what to do with it. And the hits just kept on coming.
Without warning I felt her start to press her tongue against my closed lips. Okay, this was out of the realm of possibility. French Kissing! No way had I ever had a girl's tongue in my mouth! But cool! I went with it. At first I saw a startled look in her eyes, like something had happened that she wasn't expecting. But then she just sort of sighed and closed her eyes. So I closed mine and we just sort of melted into the kiss. Soon our tongues were just sort of dancing and playing. I ran my tongue over her teeth behind her upper lip. She moaned and wrapped her arms around my neck, pulling me closer. I moved my hands off of her breasts and ran them up and down her back. I could feel the delicate play of her muscles as she shifted to maintain balance in the new position. Meanwhile she seemed to be trying to extract my tonsils.
