"I need a truck and license plates for a night," Uncle Rodrigo said to Brendan.
Brendan put down his small cup of espresso and looked across the table at Rodrigo. Behind the older man, his wife and Jacinta were washing the lunch dishes and making quiet small talk.
"Oscar has a truck," Brendan said. "You already knew that. Do you want me to make an introduction?"
"I'd rather you get the truck and drive it over. If that's not possible, then you can arrange an introduction. How skittish is Oscar?"
Brendan took a deep breath. "I have no idea where he goes after work. I think that he has a family, but I'm not really sure. He is very cautious, very suspicious. He would probably meet with you if you let him choose the time and place. I can ask him tomorrow."
Rodrigo had a distant look in his eye, as if he were weighing possibilities.
"I give you a number to call. When he says he agrees to meet, you give him the number."
Later that afternoon Jacinta and Brendan were lounging naked in their bed. Hugo was working a double shift, which left them alone in the apartment to be as loud as they wanted. Since moving in, Brendan helped pay the upkeep for the apartment which gave them more hours of heat.

"How slow you are to realize the power of my magic, my naïve man," Jacinta said.
"I've been slow about a lot of things that I should've been paying attention to these last weeks," he said.
"Hey, I was playing, Danny. You can't turn serious on me when I want to play," she said, with her own seriousness. "For the offense of turning your attention elsewhere, you must massage my feet for five minutes."
