In time both would sell their respective properties and combine the money to purchase one good sized home between them but for now they were in Glenda and Jessie’s home with Jessie doing everything to make them both feel welcome and relaxed after their very long day.
Jessie Harper flitted about the place serving her mother and her mother’s new husband tea and scones then finally sitting down herself - with her own big sigh of relief.
After telling Jessie all about their travels on their truncated honeymoon the Reverend Bryce Unsworth finally asked, “And now, Miss Jessie Harper, tell me all about your week and that text message you sent your mother about a friend of yours discovering something incredible about this whole unfortunate affair.”
Jessie didn’t reply immediately. She had a certain look of concern on her face that eventually saw her leaning over to her mother and whispering quietly into the woman’s ear. When Jessie had finished her mother sat back with a thoughtful expression on her face then looked quickly at her new husband then back to Jessie and said, “Well, dear, I guess you should ask my husband himself what you just asked me. Go ahead, sweetheart. I don’t think he will mind in the least.”
Jessie looked at her mother then slowly shifted her gaze to her new step-father and hesitantly asked, “Um ... well ... um ... I guess ... if you ... if your are going to be my mom’s husband and my step-father can I start off straight away by ... by just calling you ... by just calling you ‘dad’? Everything else just seems weird now ... Bryce, no ... Reverend Unsworth, no ... Mr Unsworth, no ... Reverend Bryce, no ... even ‘dad’ sounds a bit weird but probably the least weird of anything else I can think of. She won’t go naked outside in public and has even pulled out of the Teen Beauty Pageant and she won’t go naked anywhere in church until the ban is lifted - if it ever is - but would you mind her being naked here, in her own home? Would that affect anything or even get you into any trouble?”
Bryce Unsworth gave a little snort of disgust but not at Jessie or at anything her mother had just said but at the whole pile of trouble this ‘anti-nudity brigade’ had somehow caused. He told both Jessie and her mother this and how he had no doubts what-so-ever about who had caused all the mess found by the cleaners early that Sunday morning.
Finally he looked gently at Jessie Harper - at her beautiful face and her lovely body with those perky breasts pointing up just under her t-shirt and at those shapely legs descending down out of her short skirt.
