Becky took me back through the park in the late afternoon. She was the zoo’s primate specialist and we often came in after the gates were closed. We would occasionally eat dinner there, listening to the strange birds and the grunts and groans of the exotic animals. It was peaceful, if a bit eerie, among the unusual trees.
