She let out a sigh as she watched the people within closing up shop for the night, glancing up to watch the sun dipping below the skyline. She allowed herself a smile as the daylight bled away and the light of the stars became visible, the sight alone filling her with a sense of warmth and renewed calm. She heard a voices in the street below the sounds of the last few workers calling their good nights and heading home, locking up the front doors and stepping out on their way.
The lights stayed on, as they often did in the city, but by now the place ought to be empty, so she rose slowly from her crouching position and stretched, relieving the stiffness that had taken hold in her limbs after so long in the same position. She turned her gaze skywards again as she worked out the aches, basking in the light of the stars. As her name implied, Starlight drew her power from the night sky. In the light of the moon and stars she became able to create and manipulate light, levitate and even enter into a persons dreams. Besides these powers, she was stronger, faster and fitter than the average human, blows that would break a normal person's bones leave little more than some nasty busing on her. All of this has served her well in the past, her natural determination and desire to do good marrying up perfectly with the abilities she developed and leading her to take up the mantle of a hero, trying to save the city from itself.
She slid over the over of the building and dropped silently to the ground, two storeys below. She landed without a sound, her enhanced physiology absorbing the impact without complaint, and sprinted across the street, slipping between the pools of artificial light and darting down the buildings side without anybody catching a glimpse of her, which was quite a feat for somebody dressed as she was.
