Before she climbed inside, she turned back and kissed my cheek, “I had a really nice time” she told me. I stood there waiting for the taxi to go. She looked at the shops on the streets and then me, while she moved away smiling with satisfaction. I didn’t move for a few seconds, thinking about everything that had happened and I lit a cigarette. I took a few deep puffs trying to clear my mind.
I walked down to the street and saw the bar with the jukebox again. Now there were more people sitting there and Cumbia music was playing in the speakers. The guy without his feet wasn’t there anymore but there were two girls sitting on the streets smoking and drinking wine out of a box. One of them looked at me and smiled.
Suddenly I realized. I was part of the landscape for Celeste. I started walking slowly thinking about it. I was surprised how everyone sees things, objects and people in a different way. When I walked past next to the girls, one of them asked me for a cigarette. I gave it to her, and ask for some wine in return. She passed me the box of wine and I took a zip. I don’t think I ever tasted worst wine than that. “Thank you” I told her, and started to walk away, as I light another cigarette and dodged the bar tables.
