His attempts to find the mansion were frustrated at every turn. The neighborhood's streets formed a maze of circles and cul-de-sacs hidden from one another by dense but impeccably groomed landscaping. Each time he made a wrong turn and she showed him the way, he wondered how often she had found it on her own. In the dark, each private entrance looked alike, until they came face to face with the twisted bars of his imposing iron gate and the familiar glass eye of the camera, peering down at them like a mechanical cyclops atop the towering stone pilaster.

As they waited, he turned to her, only to find her staring once again through the ominous gate into the night on the other side. She wore her hair up in a more formal style, revealing tantalizing glimpses of supple neck and glittering diamonds decorating each ear. She was a vision, but not one of his own making.

He remembered her gasp when she opened package, and how its contents overflowed its edges, as though it had suddenly taken its own deep breath, increasing its volume to double the box's capacity. The material was black as night, and reflected the light as though it was partly metallic. When she lifted it from the box and held it up in front of her, it unfolded slowly, its weight surprisingly light in her small hands. She dressed herself in private, and he was more than satisfied to let her do it. It was his turn to gasp when she appeared from their bedroom, wrapped in the elegant gift from her enigmatic lover.

The material fit her midsection as tightly as a corset, softening to cup her breasts in two delicate pouches that barely covered the tops her nipples. Four gold catches secured the middle about her like a second skin. From hips to floor, the dress expanded in a series of large horizontal scalloped pleats that trailed slightly behind her as she walked.

It opened down the front in an inverted V, gathered just below her belly, widening two feet or more by the time it reached the floor. When she walked, the cascades of pleats opened wider to reveal her legs, from black heels to the very tops of her bare thighs. The contrast of one slender ivory leg after another, slim thighs flexing, thrust through the opening as she took step after step framed by the dark flowing fabric, was startling, even to her husband of so many years.

'My God - she could have any man.'

And then, just at that moment, she had smiled at him, as though she could read his every thought.

Now they sat in silence as the gate opened once again and the car slipped through it, winding forward into the night. She sat taller in her seat as they approached the house, her shoulders squared, breasts thrust forward, heaving against the dress with each slow, deep breath. She leaned forward slightly as though she was drawn to their destination by the same powerful force that equally repelled her husband.

When the engine died she looked at him with love and pity.

"The things you must be thinking about me...and yet you bring me here, again. You must love me more than I ever imagined."

She leaned toward him, circling him with her bare, slender arms, and kissed him deeply. Pressing closer, she dropped a hand to his lap, exploring between his legs as the kiss became more frenzied. And then, just as she felt his erection begin to grow, she stopped and pulled away, looking lovingly into his eyes once again as she straightened a few strands of hair that had come undone.

"You'll wait for me?"

He tried to answer. Trust and jealousy, love and anger, pride and humiliation, all sliced his insides to pieces, then tore the ragged wounds in all directions. He trembled from her lust for him, and from the frustration of watching that same lust willingly surrendered to a man waiting to use it for his own amusement. He just stared back at her, an elegant vision, alive with fresh, tempting beauty and innocent, smoldering heat. How could he say yes, agreeing to let this man use her eager body a second time while he waited for him to satisfy her? How could he say no, and risk losing her to this maddening obsession? In the end, he couldn't say anything at all.

She smiled confidently at him one last time. Her bare legs seemed to glow in the light that spilled into the car from the house behind them. The dress had opened wider when she moved away from him, and now revealed the pale skin of her lower belly and the pouting lips nestled between the tops of her thighs. He couldn't take his eyes from it, and she let him look, knowing he saw her ripening cunt, juicy and wet, ready for what waited for her across the white pavement beyond the marble steps.

Watching her approach the house brought back bitter memories. A different dress, a different night, but the way she moved toward her destination, almost strutting with anxious determination, was painfully familiar.

He appeared at the door just as she arrived and stepped outside to meet her. A stray lock of hair hung free at the side of her face, still undone from her husband's touch. He tucked it back in place, then turned her, moving against her from behind. She tried her best to contain a brief moan when his lips found her neck, but she failed, suddenly afraid that the soft sounds she made might escape into the night air to reach the open car window.

A lean, bronzed forearm and palm circled her waist, drawing her closer to him, while another hand freed her breasts from the front of the dress. Her nipples hardened at once and throbbed under his fingertips. She leaned back against him, eyes closed, lips trembling as she tried to contain a second moan. He feasted on her bare neck and shoulder, and she cried out again, louder, a guttural noise that rose from deep inside her. This time she was certain it had reached her husband, but was already beyond caring. Simon was pleased that she so quickly shed her inhibitions before her waiting husband, and let her know with a whisper as his teeth grazed her ear.

"Slut."

The word sent a ripple through her belly, and she pushed harder against him, until she could feel the hardened length of his cock against the small of her back. From the car, her husband watched as she melted against the man, her nipples swelling so easily as he cupped her breasts, her hips grinding into him as her bare legs parted and swayed through the open front of the dress. With her third moan, he raised the car window and looked away.

He had never heard the sound come from her before, nor had he ever seen her surrender to lust so immediately. When he finally summoned the courage to look toward the house again, they had vanished, leaving him alone with his imagination and pain.

Persephone in Winter Chapter 611

Chapter 6  It arrived a month later, delivered by a tuxedoed messenger who smiled briefly, then returned to the limo waiting at the curb. The package was large and black, its length and width secured tightly by a gleaming silver cable of ribbon. A single red rose was tied at the center with a shining knot nestled between clusters of menacing thorns. Steven stood behind the closed door for a full minute, not able to take a step, staring at his own reflection in the glossy surface. "What is it?...

Persephone in Winter Chapter 511

Chapter 5  He woke slowly, first to the constant hiss and sizzle, then to the familiar smell of bacon, teasing him from his sleep with a hint of a perfect breakfast made just as she knew he would want it. Sleep had finally come to him sometime early in the morning, but the lack of it hung about him as he lifted his legs over the side of the bed and stood to face the day. She had drawn the blinds so he could sleep late, and waited until mid-morning to start his breakfast. He would shower first,...

Persephone in Winter Chapter 311

Chapter 3She sat some ten feet away from Simon in the walnut-paneled library. Glasses of brandy rested on identical cherry tables beside each richly upholstered wingback chair. He was unusually quiet this evening, taking time to savor the rich, dark drink, allowing her to nearly finish her own generous portion. She expected he would talk of her husband, and was apprehensive about betraying her love for him, even with unshared thoughts. Instead, he sat and watched her, his fierce eyes drinking...

Chapter 2  The house was one of many hidden behind dense hedges and wide iron gates along the endless avenue. Finding it was painfully slow. The camera's cold, glass eye found them, internal elements shifting with precision, then stared unblinking at them through the windshield for what seemed like hours. At first they sat in silence in the waiting car - her heart racing with forbidden surrender to another, his with apprehension, and finally terror. Persephone in Winter Chapter 111

Chapter 1It wasn't quite as though she was cheating. He had known for some time. And she knew he knew. She couldn't help crying out a bit louder when she came. She had always been quiet, her small throaty moan rising on those few special occasions when she seemed especially wet.Now she came with mouth wide open, filling the darkened bedroom with unfamiliar words, telling him over and over how she wanted him, how she loved his cock inside her. When she straddled him and played with her breasts,...

"She does love you. Perhaps too much."Simon's voice still carried the same self-confidence that Steven remembered from the only other time he had heard it. His thumb hovered over the "End" button, an instant away from silencing him. Instead, he pulled the car to the side of the road, unable to look away from Elyse's name staring back at him from the tiny glowing screen."How did you get her cell?" Steven asked, after a moment's pause. He was determined not to let the defeat show in his own...

Persephone in Winter Chapter 911

Waiting in the chilly car was no easier this time than the last. Consumed with agonizing images of his wife with the dark stranger, he sat unmoving behind the wheel, staring into the darkness, hoping to find an answer there, but finding only more anxiety and pain with each passing minute. "What kind of man allows this?" he argued silently to himself. "What kind of wife does this to someone she loves?" He should leave her - start the car and speed away from this revolting house that held her. A...

They sat facing each other in a room unfamiliar to her. He had led her past the library to the back of the house where bright lights no longer spilled through the towering windows. It was a room of secrets, dark and quiet, lit only by shrinking tongues of flame and dying embers sputtering in a nearby hearth. She thought it smelled of man-smells, of leather, tobacco, and the charred wood of a campfire.  For a brief minute, just after he took her hand, led her through the door, and then closed...

Persephone In WinterChapter 4

"If only others could see you as I do." He paced slowly as he spoke, eyes feasting on white flesh against the crimson sheets under her. The bed, a heavy four-poster with a canopy frame, was positioned at the very center of the room. At first sight it was an imposing structure, a fusion of dark carved woods and burnished metal in an old-world Mediterranean style. As he circled it, he studied her from every angle. Her thin wrists were stretched above her head, bound by two feet of cord...

Persephone In WinterChapter 10

The shock that woke him was as though he had been dropped into the car seat from a great height. When he opened his eyes, he found himself strangely energized, in spite of the lucid details of his dream. Why had he let this man have his wife, over and over? Few husbands would have been so accommodating, so weak in the face of a wife's professed sexual encounters. How could he have brought her here a second time? Suddenly he knew what had to be done. Neither the manicured lawn nor the marble...

Persephone in Winter Prologue

Prologue Elyse waited patiently by the open trunk of the car as the boy placed the last bag of groceries inside. She found herself smiling, for no particular reason. The sun was warm on her face, and a slight breeze played with her hair, tickling her cheek, teasing her in and out of her daydream. The soft knit of the light sweater fell away from the firm swell of her breasts as she reached to close the trunk lid, then settled smoothly over them again as she turned to the boy to tip him. She...

Arlene and JeffChapter 711

Ship Jeff had considered jumping back to Earth. They had a firm set of coordinates which included Earth’s movements as well as the solar system’s, all recorded out to many decimal places, and it wasn’t as if he didn’t trust his Miadax Navigator, for he certainly did. However, there was trust, and then there was absolute trust, he supposed. With calculations, there was Selina, who was in a category all to herself and at least equal to Helen or would be given time. He had also considered...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 10 BridgetChapter 20 Winter or Summer

October 12, 1996, Rutherford, Ohio Rutherford, Ohio was a relatively small town; but then again compared to Chicago, Cincinnati was a relatively small town. Rutherford was bigger than Milford, but not by a lot. It had the regional trauma center, the BMV, and the Harding County courthouse and other government buildings, as well as the Sheriff’s Department. I could imagine Milford being like Rutherford if all those facilities had been in Milford, instead of Batavia, which was the Clermont...

Play Ball Winter JenningsChapter 7 Guastavino

The kids were hunched over the kitchen table moving black and white stones around a board. Gertie, sipping her Tanqueray, was watching with interest. I said, “What’s this?” Walker, shoehorning pity into a single word — a feat that only a teenager who had a slow mother could master — said, “Go.” I swatted the back of his head, “I know that, dumbbell, why are you playing Go?” Pilar, not looking up, said, “Gertie said that when AlphaGo beat Ke Jie, it was China’s Sputnik moment.” Walker,...

Richard Hyder was apoplectic, “Your Honor! This is outrageous! Trial by ambush! The Defense hasn’t even begun to present its case and this ... this ... private eye miraculously points the way ... I object! Hide Seek Winter JenningsChapter 11 A Bouquet of Pheasants

On a hunch, Clint asked his Vanguard counterpart in Boise to go through the old surveillance videos before the raid on the Gunther compound in northern Idaho. A raid clandestinely approved and funded by Senator Harper Wainwright. And orchestrated by his chief of staff, Constance Grayson. And field-directed by Matt Striker. Boise called back the next day. Winner-winner, chicken dinner! Martin Folsom again. That tied him to two American Nazi compounds. And also made me start reconsidering...

I woke up in Palo Alto feeling ... refreshed. More like my old self. First time since ... well, it had been a while. Feeling morning-naughty, I sat under the shower spray and treated myself to a quickie. Dressed for success, I was checking myself out in front of the hotel mirror. Picked up my cell, “Hello.” “What are you doing in California?” I smiled, sat back in the club chair, Clint Callahan. “And this is your business ... why?” “I made it my business.” “Oooh, tough guy. The police responded in under three minutes; two ambulances right behind them. One of them said, “Gun!” and I felt, but couldn’t see, one cop grab my shoulder bag where he removed the .38. The other one cuffed me, hands behind my back. Morales and I were rushed to University hospital. I ended up on the second floor of the Critical Care Tower. Morales was in the same building, but in the burn unit. When Suzette aimed at me, I had ducked my head and squeezed my eyes shut. That helped, but my...

2019 That was then; this was now, four years later. A lot had changed in my life since I told Carol Sue Parker goodbye at O’Hare. Of course, a lot would change in any four-year period; it’s just that I ended up measuring that particular span in terms of a young woman I had thought I’d never see again. Life goes on. Walker was now 15; I was 33. I was married, deliciously so, to Vanessa Henderson. Walker had a live-in girlfriend, his second, named Pilar Paloma. I was still doing a daily...

Hard WinterChapter 3 Autumn A Trip into York

We both awoke around six-thirty and we still smelt of sex, I think it turned us both on because she was soon all fours wiggling her arse and demanding, "Fuck me, come on, I'm horny!" We had a fast, furious five minutes of hard sex and we both came again. We then sat up to get our breath and Kelly said quite matter-of-factly, "What else turns you on? Would you fuck my arse, do a threesome with me and another girl? Would you tie me up and fuck me, spank me, piss on me, or me piss on you,...

TV Game Show Winter JenningsChapter 2 Riles

For some reason, crime in America follows railroad tracks. And Kansas City has plenty of both. My first, and I hope last, shootout took place near my office in the Stockyards. Besides gunplay, it involved ramming my bright red F-150 into a larger Dodge Ram. The Ford Motorcar Company told me, and I verified it through an independent mechanic, that the frame had been wrenched out of shape. It could be straightened, but wouldn’t drive the same, not really. I sat down with Vanessa and Gertie...

The Weaver And The WindChapter 19 The Woods in Winter

The new year had passed long ago on Earth, but our start of the new year was just another day on Arbor. The Arborian New Year started on the first day of spring, the vernal equinox. I chose that propitious day to deal with the alaspore and its master. I wove a new trick out of something Cor showed me how to do using the wind. I wove a cocoon out of moving air as she had shown me. I was able to use it, as she did, as a method of transportation, but I couldn't become the wind as she could, so...

Wizards Apprentice 4 the Vale in WinterChapter 7

I woke late and lingered over my campfire and my breakfast. It would take only a half day's riding to get to where I was going, and anytime today would be a fine time with me. The skies had cleared again and it was nice to wait for the chill of the night to abate before setting out. Deak seemed to appreciate it, along with the relaxed pace. He tossed his head now and then and nickered at me softly when he did. Perhaps, like me, he was chasing Vulkai cobwebs out of his mind. Remembering my...

Eons ago, Walker and I were having a Saturday lunch at the Unicorn Club. Back then it was tottering its way toward the rocky shoals of Chapter 11. Before Bear and Vanessa took over and saved us from BK ignominy. Walker and I had ordered hot dogs — butterflied and grilled. We were seated at a table in the bar section. But since I was no longer with the KCPD, nor employed by a real company, she simply hadn’t accepted that I do anything worthwhile. I sent Clint some suggestions for the name of our firm. For incorporation purposes, he would be the equivalent of a CEO, but no one seemed to be interested in titles. To the clients, potential clients, each one of us would be the Indian Chief in our home town. As for a corporate name, I was leaning toward Winter Jennings & Associates, LLC. Hide Seek Winter JenningsChapter 15 A Flamboyance of Flamingos

Clint spoke softly, “Does he have a gun?” “No, not in the basement. I don’t think.” Our first words. Clint bundled me in his arms and carried me back inside. He sat me gently on a hall bench and flicked the safety off on his Sig Sauer. Even in my panicked state, I registered his new P320. And I also became conscious of the anguished howls coming up from the basement. Clint opened the door cautiously. He didn’t look away from the stairwell as he asked me, “What did you do to...

First Do No Harm Winter JenningsChapter 14 Inside Man

Once Fowler started babbling, it became almost anticlimactic. Bear started the video recorder and even Fowler’s voice seemed to have lost its resonance. He confessed without emotion. He answered every question — no longer defiant, no longer any vitality in his voice, his posture. Mr. November was resigned, had given up. The last call he’d made, to Ryder and Mologna — “It’s her. Do it.” — turned out to be an order for them to go back to Richmond. To tear the Barbara Reynolds apartment to...

Hard WinterChapter 10 Spring Our expedition to Pickering

It was the day before our expedition to Pickering was due to set off. Kelly, Kirsty, Kat and I were going and we were taking Will Hinds, Harry Wilton and Emma. Jim Bolton was also coming with us. Although he was now quite frail he wanted to feel useful and his military experience would be good for Will and Harry. He still had sharp eyes and would stay with the train on lookout duty. Katie and her group were all travelling and we would use both engines, with the same make up of carriages as...

Elementary My Dear WatsonChapter 3 Winter Comes Early

At noon on Thursday, Miss Thompson's presence was requested at the principal's office. She arrived to discover a parent seated opposite the principal, dressed conservatively but expensively, with conservative but expensive jewellery. The wedding rings on her hand were expensive, elegant but not ostentatious. The contrast between her and the two educators, both of whom were wearing runners, ankle socks and minor jewellery, could not have been more strong. The Principal herself had decided to...

True Stories Winter At Beech Mountain Chapters

It was mid-winter here in Western N.C. --- and I had cabin fever. Looking at the same places- same faces - had given me the 'itch' to travel.. My income also suffered now because of the Christmas season. People would rather buy presents than have a massage.I had watched the discovery channel lately, and hit on an idea. In winter, caribou would migrate south to their winter grazing areas and be near a water supply. In summer, they moved back north to stay cool and be near food and water. I would...

Hard WinterChapter 2 Autumn A Thief in the Garden

It was the first week of October 2013, I was working in the garden of my cottage on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds near the coast. I hate gardening, always have done, but after last winter when potatoes reached £120 a pound on the black market, I decided that turning the garden, and a bit of the field behind the garden, with the agreement of the farmer who owned it, into a large vegetable patch was prudent. I was lifting the last of my potato crop and storing them for use during the winter....

Play Ball Winter JenningsChapter 5 NATO

I eyeballed Sandy Seaver two different ways. From the stands in The K and by tailing him. My first time in a baseball stadium. It was a revelation. An expensive revelation if I’d been paying for everything. Parking, tickets, food, beer. The little magazine that tells you ... um, baseball stuff. And, if I’d had little kids ... all those treats and souvenirs and whatever else they needed. I bet a family of four couldn’t get out of the park for under a couple of hundred bucks. But the scene...

Deadly Pursuit Winter JenningsChapter 14 Mole

Two parallel investigations — sometimes intersecting, sometimes intertwined. The FBI, supervised by Ash Collins, was focused primarily on illegal weapons — manufacturing and sales. And chasing the gun money, possibly diamonds, around the world. Matt Striker, reporting to Constance Grayson, was all things Meriwether. Their PAC, their possible connections to Wexler and Hoffstatter. And, just maybe their connections to diamonds. I was, for now, relegated to the sidelines. Impatiently so. Ash...

American Nazis Winter JenningsChapter 16 Goodbye Party

American Snapshot: In Montana it is illegal to guide sheep onto a railroad track with the intent of damaging the train. Vanessa and I agreed to bring Walker and Pilar back home. We couldn’t hide them forever, although Rebecca Montgomery was enjoying their company enormously. But school. Friends. Life. An FBI agent was still posted in the Wrigley lobby. Gunther wouldn’t be able to board the elevator even if he were foolish enough, or desperate enough, to return for another try. Nor would...

Wizards Apprentice 4 the Vale in WinterChapter 5

The magic of Gaen seems closely bound to music and song while at the same time, Magic and Music each seem to be blooms from very different flowers. Beneath everything, they are very much of the same body. Mathematicians and musicians will both tell you this is true. Wizards will too, if you are in a position to ask them. Threes and fours, apart and in combination, especially in combination, have strong ties to the magic and history of Gaen. These numbers, especially in combination, seemed...

First Do No Harm Winter JenningsChapter 8 Kansas

Sistine called me herself, bypassing Carmen. “Just heard back from G and G — they’re pretty exercised about something in those Rowley pages you sent to Carmen.” “Want me to go back in?” “Of course not — wouldn’t that be ... um, bending the law?” “Right, stupid thought.” Translation: okay, Winter, get your butt in gear and don your B & E threads. This time, photograph every work-related page you can uncover. Later for you, Nowak. I had a Dr. Samantha Rowley problem. The first time...

Pasayten PeteChapter 7 Winter Lodge

Winters in the Methow Valley were cold, sometimes bitterly so. Temperatures ranged well below zero. The snow would pile up two and three feet deep. It fell to Graydon to keep the driveway into the Wolf Creek homestead shoveled out when the snow got deeper than the sedan his step-father drove, or the panel truck, their faithful Blue Goose, could break through without chains. Graydon would wax the flat-bladed shovel and begin cutting blocks from the deep snow, lifting each, and heaving it to...

In the NavyChapter 41 Winter Storms

Portsmouth, December 1808 Harriet and Anita Heyworth were both delightfully naked. With a wicked smile, Harriet had just latched her mouth on Anita’s extended nipple, and Tony was preparing himself to climb between Anita’s thighs, when John Little’s voice shattered the life-like illusion. “Sir, sunrise in a half hour!” “Er ... whatisit ... oh, yes, right,” Tony mumbled, embarrassed over the obvious erection that tented his blanket. John Little looked pointedly elsewhere to give his...

FaithfulChapter 15 Winter Gave Way to Spring

That turbulent winter the fifth Provincial Convention met in unruly Annapolis, declared its loyalty to and admiration of the British constitution and urged its delegates at the Continental Congress to seek reconciliation. Despite its obvious truculence and obdurate nature, the convention disclaimed any thoughts of independence, a position that seemed to please many more Marylanders than it angered but left the leaders of strident Virginia and incendiary Massachusetts fuming and...

Play Ball Winter JenningsChapter 13 The Panic Room

Walker: “We don’t serve time travelers in here.” Pilar: “A time traveler walks into a bar.” Saturday morning breakfast, sun streaming in our Main Street windows. Pilar glanced at Walker’s face, looked under the kitchen table, sighed. “Vanessa, what would our family be like if Papi were ... like, normal?” Vanessa laughed, “Well, we’ll never know, will we?” I shook my head, “A mother’s burden...” Pilar held out her hand, “Come on, Papi, I’ll take care of it. Again.” Gregory stood, “No,...

TV Game Show Winter JenningsChapter 3 Cathal

Daddy asked me to stop by his office, a cubicle really, in the FBI building at 1300 Summit, west of downtown. While Ace Collins arranged for me to keep my temporary badge, I no longer have a dedicated workspace there. Technically, I’m still available for consultancy duty, but the new SAC, Sandra Fleming, is somehow managing without me. Daddy handed me a follow-up post-mortem report from the police coroner. The young woman whose nude body had been found near the Missouri River had been...
