"You know our men aren't getting any younger. They have both been talking about what they call "the near future." They might just go for it."
"Rick told me that he would like to live up here." Cathy said. "And MY Mom and Dad are talking about moving here, too." Misti added to the argument. "Michael and I are going to send for MY parents, too. We have been apart for too long."
Mama Breen looked over at her oldest and closest friend. "I think we better ask the boys what they think. We might just be the ones to be pulling stakes. Daddy thought this was some of the prettiest country he had seen, and commented several times that he wouldn't mind living here. He said if it would bring the family closer together, he would move here in a minute. I KNOW Tod and Betty would like it here. There would be everything we needed and the biggest part of what we want right here under our noses." The two husbands would be out tending to the chores, with Tod. Robbi was due to go back to school in the next few days, and one of them would have to go bring Betty's k**s here, or stay and take care of them. Robbi had discovered that, after this semester, she would have to transfer to another school to get the courses she wanted, and the college here offered them, so she, too was thinking about coming here. Moving would, by all standards, make good sense.
William offered the last argument. "I know three fantastic builders that would make houses for you just the way you want them. One in particular would drop everything to take care of you. HIS name is DAVID. I think his name is Campbell? He is a cracker jack builder. He can build anything from a bonfire to a high rise. He's got almost the prettiest wife and daughter you ever laid eyes on. You MIGHT know him." The others were all laughing at William's description of their Dave.
The door opened. It was Mike. "I didn't want to disturb your fun, so I let myself in." Misti jumped up and ran into his arms. "Good news, Sweetheart. I'm NOT going to Germany. You're stuck with me." More tears from the women. Billy, William, and Jerry all rushed over to hug him, and pat him on the back. William was glad to hear the news, but knowing the government as he did, he knew there had to be a catch. Mike told them that he had submitted his "Intention and Permission to Retire papers. His adjutant had agreed that it didn't make sense to make a PCS move with the little time he had left, and had called the Pentagon, and requested information. He had provided Mikes initial Service Number, his Social Security Number and dates of service. He had other information if they needed or wanted it. They had advised him in a return call that a mistake had been made, and apologized for the problems it had caused him. The Tinsley THEY wanted spelled his name WITHOUT the 'E'. Rescinding orders would be sent immediately. So, NOW. In six months Michael Tinsley E-7 USAF, would be Michael Tinsley PFC, or Proud Fucking Civilian, USAF (Ret.) He would retire, Honorably, with 20 years, 1 week, and 1 day. He would forever be at the side of his beautiful wife, and, hopefully, many c***dren. SHE HOPED. The day was getting better.
The men, elated and energized by the good news from Mike, the encouraging reception of the developments from the two Matrons of the families. and the other things that had transpired, had gone out and taken care of the chores in just a little while. They had all climbed into their vehicles and gone back to town, and re-gathered at Dave's and Carol's house. Jerry had called Mary to share the good news about Mike with her and Sharon. Mary had told Sharon while still holding her phone, and joined in one of Sharon's Texas Rebel Yells, making every one of the others jump out of their skins. Soon, though, they recovered. The boss had sure been acting strange at times since Sharon had joined them. BUT, she was also more FUN to work for. AND the guys didn't mind a bit, having someone that PRETTY , and that SEXY to look at all day. She always dressed and acted like a lady, but nothing could hide the lovely face and figure she possessed, or her sweet personality. The people there had ALL fallen in love with this wonderful lady. She was also, forever, bringing in all sorts of tasty treats to share. A day or two ago she had brought in a large pot of freshly made tamales. Not too bland and not too spicy. Everyone had eaten until they were bursting full. Even the burps had been delicious. They wanted her to have an easy pregnancy, but they also regretted that she would be away to recover.
Mike looked at the clock as he and Misti went in the door. It would be a little late, but they called Misti's parents, anyway. They got them on the line in a few minutes, and told them the things they would need for them to come to the United States to live with them forever. Misti's Father promised to start gathering them in the morning. He would have them in the mail as soon as he could. Misti could hear her Mother crying, telling her Father, "We're going to see my baby. And my grand baby."
