“Thank you," Martha tells him hanging up.
“Arianna, my gun belt please," he says to Arianna.
“Yes sir," she tells him running to his office.
“Evelyn, my boots and hat," he tells Evelyn.
“Yes sir," she says running for the entry way.
Everet was stepping into his boots, when Arianna arrived and strapped his gun belt around his waist. Everet took his hat from Evelyn and went out the door. He exited down the hall and down the stairs. As he approached the apartment in question, the noise of the fight got louder. He banged hard and loud on the door with his fist.
“Texas Rangers, open up," he said loudly.
There was no answer, so, he knocked loudly again and repeated what he said. There was still no answer.
“This is your final chance. Come to the door now or I’m coming in my way!” he shouted.
There was no answer and the fighting got worse. He backed up and gave the door a hard kick. He heard it splinter slightly and kicked it again. The door flew open, and Everet stepped through it, to find a woman laying on her back with a man standing over her.
“You, out in the hallway," he barked at the man.
The man silently stepped out into the hallway as Everet helped the woman to her feet. The woman invited Everet to sit and they began discussing what happened.
“So, he came home to find something of his destroyed. You told him it was an accident, and he was overreacting and that’s when the argument started?” Everet asked.
“Yes, that is exactly what happened," she told him.
“When I kicked the door in, you were on your back. How did that happen?” Everet asked.
“He slapped me," she told him.
“I did not!” The man shouts as he started to walk in the room.
“Sir, go back out in the hall, I will be with you shortly.” Everet tells him as he stands up.
“Fuck you, pig! This is my home, not yours!” The man shouted at him.
“Sir, I will tell you now as it stands, you could face nothing more than a domestic disturbance. Disobeying me constitutes impeding a law enforcement officer. If you really want more than you or her staying somewhere else for the night, I can happily arrange that," Everet tells him sternly.
The man made a move to strike Everet, only to wind up on the floor face down and handcuffed.
“Okay friend, domestic assault, impeding a law enforcement officer and assault on a peace officer it is,” Everet said, as he hauled the man to his feet and led him out the door.
Everet hauled the man to the main managerial office, and outside sat him down. Walking into the office, he picked up the phone.
“Can I get a line please?” he asked the lady at the desk.
The lady pressed a button, Everet heard a dial tone and dialed the local city police.
“Police Department, Officer Wallace speaking."
“Hello Officer Wallace, this is Everet Earp of the Texas Rangers," Everet said.
“What can I do for ya Ranger?” Officer Wallace asked.
“I need a uniform to come pick up a man I have in custody," Everet said.
Everet gave Officer Wallace the address to the complex and walked the man outside. Shortly a couple cops arrived, took the man into their custody and gave Everet some paperwork to fill out.
“Thank you fellas," Everet told the officers as he shook both their hands.
“It’s no problem, I feel honored shaking the hand of a legendary Texas Ranger," one of them said.
Everet smiled as he walked back in the apartment complex, wondering how on earth the story of a drug bust he led eight years before was still making the rounds. He left the cash for the broken door at the manager’s office, and went back up to his apartment. He was again greeted by his three slaves. This time however, Evelyn took his gun belt while Angela removed his boots and hat. He took his reheated pizza from Arianna, walked to his chair, unclasped his badge from his shirt and pulled his shirt off. Everet sat down and realized he did not have a pen on him.
“Evelyn can you please find me a pen?” he asked.

Anna sat on her couch, moving her gaze between the broken door and the spot on the couch where Ranger Earp had been sitting before Bradley had been a moron. She felt alone and afraid. Gone were the two securities in her life. She missed the door more than Bradley. Bradley was strong but unlike the ranger had in two kicks, Bradley had never broken through the door. Suddenly a thought came to her, she stood up, walked out of her apartment and down the hall to the managerial office.
“Excuse me," she said to the lady at the desk.

“Which apartment is the Texas Ranger in?” Anna asked.
“I cannot tell you, hun, without his permission," the lady said.
“Can you ask him please?” Anna asked her.
The lady picked up the phone and dialed. After a short conversation the woman tells Anna that Everet would be sending one of his girls down to come get her and a set of keys from the main office. Anna ran back to her apartment and packed a bag. Soon after she got back, a tallish woman with long flowing brown hair arrived at the office.
“Hey Arianna," Edna says as she hands the woman a carabiner with three full key rings on it.
“Hello Ms. Edna,” she said warmly taking the keys and clipping them to her pants.
“Anna, come meet Arianna,” Edna told her.
Anna stood up and walked to the women.
“Hello, I am Arianna, I’ll be walking you to my master’s apartment," Arianna says extending her hand.

“Arianna, why do you call Everet your master?” Anna asked.
“I am not allowed to use his first name," Arianna replied.
“Why not?” Anna asked.

They continued walking for a bit before Anna asked, “Does he have other rules for you?”
“Yes, he does.”
“What are some of the others?”
“I am only to work between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm.When it is relaxation time, my shirt must come off. I am to be in the apartment, or have called in by 6 PM. The apartment will be spotlessly clean, and dinner will be ready by 7:30 pm. Tasks will rotate clockwise between the girls.” Arianna listed off.
“There is more than just you?” Anna asked.
“Two others, Evelyn and Angela, " Arianna replied.

“Keep them all focused on keeping me happy and treating them all equally well,” he replied.
Anna sat there digesting what he said before, asking her next question.
“What would it take to become one of your girls?”
Everet stared at her for a long minute as did his girls.
“Anna, I want you to observe the girls tomorrow," Everet said.
Anna nodded and Everet declared it was bedtime for him and his girls. They all retired to their room and Anna walked into hers. She dropped off to sleep almost immediately.
