This is the first in a set of quick little stories that show the “Hardship” of being a professional photographer on a private shoot.

I did photo shoots for High School graduations, weddings and anniversaries for about three years before stumbling on the idea of also going to youth athletic events and shooting players on the field and then charging for downloads of the shots I took. Once I started doing that, I began making some decent money and quit my 9-5 job and bought some better lens and started having fun.
About a year ago, I was approached by some girls at the local small private college, as I was shooting their sister’s soccer game. They wanted to know if I would come to a sorority formal and shoot some pictures. One look and I was pulling out my phone to check the date. That was one of the most fun photo shoots I have had and it also lead to my newest income stream – Private Photographs.
I have done almost 30 private shoots, and all but four or five have been solo shoots of a woman for her lover for a wedding gift or anniversary. The first three I did were horrible. I could not get the women relaxed enough to enjoy themselves and the photos showed it. When I asked my sons, then girlfriend, Saranya, what she thought of a set, she summed it up well. “They look scared to be in the same room with a man. You need me to go with you to help!”
Saranya and my son broke up three weeks later, but she has been my assistant on these shoots every time since! Trust me when I say, she is worth every dime I pay her!! For an Indian, she is tall and very dark complexioned. She is rail thin, with hips that flare out unexpectedly and legs that most women would kill to have.
Last weekend was one of the hottest shoots yet. We pulled into the drive of this old school, mansion type of house and immediately I swore for not having charged more for the sitting! This place was huge! The woman that met us at the door was definitely a trophy wife. Maybe 30 years old, honey blonde hair, light tan, brown eyes, full lips. Her chest was enhanced but the rest of the body was naturally tight and rock solid. She explained to us that she and her husband had decided they wanted to have k**s, so before she got pregnant, she wanted to have a “hard-core, full on, dirty to the max” photo shoot to remember what she was like before becoming Mom.
She showed us the grand stair way and suggested a few shots on it. I assured her it was a tremendous setting. She then showed us the patio and cement, in ground pool, beautifully trimmed with flowers and a couple of tasteful statues. I tried hard to keep from drooling as I nodded and agreed, this would do well for some shots also. Then, as we passed the hot tub, we went through the double doors to the master suite. The room was both huge and perfectly appointed! If I had not known better I would have said it had been used in some sort of “Better Homes” or “Homes of the Rich and Fancy” magazine!! It was opulent!!
The king sized four-poster bed dominated one side of the room, but there were two nice sized sitting chairs to either side of the marble fireplace. The floor was all hardwoods and gleamed. There was a large fur rug on the floor and against the other wall; next to the walk-in closet was a perfectly appointed petite dressing table with a full- length cheval mirror standing just to the side! The possibilities were all so evident and perfect that I had trouble concentrating on what she was saying!
We talked through a few things and then I excused myself to go gather equipment and get started setting up for the stairway shots. Saranya stayed with Mrs. L or Cheri as she asked us to call her, just as she always did. Her job was to set the customer’s mind at east and make them comfortable and to also help them change and decide on outfits. It does not sound important, but I have come to believe that hers is the most important part of the day!!!
30 minutes later, I had the tripods, the cases, the lights, the reflective panels and the cameras all ready to go and my Apple computer plugged in and booted up. I called out that I was ready and began making some last minute adjustments to the stops on my first lens. When I looked up, I was stunned.
Cheri was dressed in a dove gray corset with matching nylons. The shoes were clear plastic with at least four inch heels and flowing from her hair, which was now gathered in a bun at the back of her head, was a spray of white netting and tulle like you would see in a bridal veil, but placed as it was, it gave her the appearance of almost having folded angel wings!! Far from the normal slut, squatting in a school girl uniform, she looked more like a Vogue model!!!
“You approve.” She said with a smile and I shut my mouth, which I only then realized was hanging open like the village idiot. I stepped over to her and offered her my hand and walked her up the stairs and turned her where I had set the light to reflect. I helped her get into the posture I had imagined and she smiled. It was not until I started back down the stairs that I wondered where Saranya was. She usually positioned models and helped make them comfortable right before the first set.
Just then, she came through the Master bedroom doorway, dressed in a blood red corset, cinched tight, her hair was pulled back into a tight bow and she had black tulle flowing from her hair, like black wings…. “She asked me not to tell you. We have some surprises for you today.” She said quietly as she walked past me to the bottom of the stairs. Her long legs looked unbelievably long, perched on similar platforms as Cheri. It was not unusual for Saranya to get partially naked or even completely naked to help put a customer at ease, but this… Then it dawned on me. Saranya had brought me the name of this customer. Now some of the things like her bringing her own bag to the shoot made more sense.
Getting back to focus, I got a couple of shots with her looking dreamily off into the distance and a couple looking down at the lens. We moved her hands and arms to different poses and gestures. She was great to work with and I let Saranya do a lot of the directing while I concentrated on moving to get better angles.
I thought we had pretty well shot this setting when Saranya said, “Okay, now turn down the tops.” With that, Cheri somehow reconfigured the fabric that had covered her full breasts and when she dropped her hands, her breasts were sitting out there like prize winning produce on shelves at the state fair!!! I mumbled something that I am sure I should not have and started shooting more and more frames and Saranya told her to move her hands in ways that appeared so lurid.
“Hang on; I want to get some shots from above.” Normally, when photographing women for glamour, this is not a good thing. But the shelf of her outfit was not letting me capture her attributes appropriately. Yes, I ogled and goggled as I went by and she laughed. From about four or five steps above, and leaning out over the rail, I got the perfect angle and I started adjusting focus.
After getting a couple of shots I knew she would love, I saw a shadow and then I saw Saranya beginning to enter the background of the shots as she talked with Cheri. “Hey, you are getting in the background.” I called out. She smiled up at me as I stopped and waited for her to move, but instead, she came up the stairs until she was just two steps below our customer. There was no way to take any shot now without her being in the background!!
Then I looked through the viewer and my jaw dropped. The contrasts were perfect, and they knew it! I started to snap a few frames and Cheri said, “Hang on, Sari, you are forgetting something.” I lowered the camera and looked at the women quizzically and they both just looked back at me, then Cheri looked down at Saranya and my jaw dropped again, as she folded fabric, revealing her own, small dark breasts, sitting out for show on their own red satin shelves!! “Now we are ready.” Cheri said, with a chuckle and I did my best to ignore the sudden tightness of my dress pants!!
Watching it unfold through the view finder, I found it hard to breathe. Cheri looked out into space, or up at me and the camera, as Saranya’s eyes stayed locked on the older woman’s firm full breasts. The nipples of each woman needed no pinching or teasing, they were fully aroused!
