with every security system he didn't have to spend too much on. He was
miserly and Scroogish. Daniel was the most despised of the seven, if only
because his wealth made him the best known.
Earl was the "prideful" one. He loved everything about himself. Vain didn't
even begin to describe how he felt about himself. He looked down at others
in a very vainglorious manner. He felt he was the best, the strongest, the
handsomest, and the most popular, even though it was obvious to others he
wasn't. Earl once threw a blow at a man who had the gall (Earl though it was
gall) to tell him "You're not God, Earl." He always insisted on being the
center of attention in a room. Being with him for more than a few minutes
was trying for anyone.
Frank was the "slothful" one. Simply put, he avoided doing anything. He
bought everything mail-order, even if he could buy it more cheaply at the
supermarket next door. He spent his days lying on the couch watching TV,
and his nights sleeping. In fact, Frank slept about 15 hours a day, and spent
the rest of his time finding ways to do things without actually doing them.
He was responsible for the death of his mother; when she suffered a stroke,
he didn't want to get up to dial 911, and when he finally did, he moved so
slowly she was dead before he picked up the receiver. Needless to say,
Frank was always unemployed; he spent most of his time mooching off his
brothers at their places. None of them liked having to take care of Frank, the

Gerry was the "lustful" one. Women were always on his mind. But all he

a nap and complaining about all the noise, Gerry was too preoccupied with

Barney, who was probably the most level-headed of the bunch, motioned for
his brothers to shush. "Look, we can spend the rest of eternity arguing over
whose fault the crash was. The important thing is, Daniel's plane is a wreck,
and we're stranded in the Sahara. We need to find some help, fast, if we're
ever gonna return to society." Or eat another feast, Barney thought to
himself.
The others agreed Barney was right, and they left the wreckage, even if that
cheapskate Daniel was concerned about salvaging his beloved plane. The
brothers were astounded they could survive a crash like that with no apparent
damage, though Earl said something about how he knew he'd never die
under such lowly circumstances. After wandering the desert for a few hours,
they found a small oasis. Near the lake, they found a tent. Inside the tent
they found only a single lamp, like the one Aladdin's genie came out of.
"Wow, a genuine genie's lamp," Chris said. "Now I'll never have to be
envious of anyone else."
"And I can have all the money in the world!" Daniel added.
"Hold on," Barney replied. "Before we can use it, we have to rub it."
Barney rubbed the lamp, and gray smoke swirled out. A large, muscular
man came out. He was ten feet tall, and he had a long, pointed mustache.
His black hair looked tidy under his fez. He was obviously well-endowed,

"I am Hassan Ali, the jinn of change. I will grant any mortal one wish, to
