"1,2, 3, 4...." Christine said as she stood in gold three inch pumps and a
backless evening gown with spaghetti straps. With the clicking of
drumsticks the band prepared to join in. Soto began to played the guitar in
his usual leather jacket, pants and boots and red tee shirt. Mark played the
drums, Luke the keyboard in their yellow and red striped coveralls, and
Starshine the tambourine in her purple blouse, leopard print mini skirt and
matching four inch pumps.
After the concert, a man with slick back black hair and dark sunglasses
walked up in a tuxedo. "As a token of friendship between Federation City
and Runner Ridge, I'd like to give your group the key to the city."
"We're honored," Christine replied as she took it.
That evening Christine put on a pajama top. Ever since she had been
transformed into a girl she could never get used to female sleep ware, but
with a shortage on clothing a pajama top was all she could get.
"Can I see you a minute?" Starshine knocked as she stepped in dressed in a
skimpy red and lace trimmed piece of sleepwear that looked like it came
from Victoria's Secret.
"What's the matter?" Christine asked as they sat together at the end of
Chistine's bed.
"Been feeling all through the concert like we were being watched."
Starshine said as she crossed her arms and shivered. "Are you sure you
haven't sensed anything strange about us being asked to the city at such
short notice?"
"You should listen to your girlfriend," a voice said as the wall beside them
slid open and showed the mayor of the city with a series of armed troops.
"Take them!"
"Let Justice Be Done!" Christine cried into the air as the magic beyond
mortals transformed the young girl into the red and blue clad super-hero,
American-Man. As the group ganged up on American-Man, Earth's
champion struck back with power beams from the palms of his hands and
eye rays.
"I was such a fool," American-Man thought while Starshine ran to get
back up from the other rebels. "I should have realized this was a trap.
Earth is hardly in a golden age of peace these days."
"Let's get it over with," American-Man snapped.
"You'll wish you never said that," the mayor said as the armored army
attacked the approaching rebels. Soto was the first to be knocked flying
across the room. Another used a blaster to knock Luke against the wall.
"At least you'll get to die as a man."
"I learned in the past that I hardly need to transform to help my friends."
American-Man referred to his martial arts skills as a woman being almost
beyond measure. "You'll learn talking too much doesn't win a fight."
"Smite them my minions!" the mayor said as his growing body burst
through his clothes. His skin melted off his face and his human skin turned
as gray as stone. The heroes watched in horror as the mayor changed into
their arch enemy, Demonoid.
"Long time no see," Demonoid's voice cut through the group like a hot
knife through butter. With the battle raging, there was no time to think of
the skull-headed master of all evil.
Faster than a blink of an eye, American-Man soared through the armored
warriors, which were becoming more demonic looking by the minute. Soto
took a chair and tossed it at one demon while Mark, Luke and Starshine
proceeded in a series of punches and kicks.
"Finish them!" Demonoid ordered. The blood red cape flew up by the
wind speed of the beast's arm. As American-Man dodged the creature's
blow, he then swung his heroic fist across the monster's bone jaw.
"Well?" American-Man asked the fallen demon.
"This is your fault!" Soto said to American-Man. "You're the one who
accepted this gig to play. I never even heard of this town, so I knew it was
a trap."
"It's not my fault!" American-Man turned to the man in black. "It's
nobody's fault. We all agreed to play here."
"He's right you know." Mark agreed. "I think you're just upset the better
man in this group spends most of his time in dresses and high heels."
"Watch it or I'll be giving Mr. Miss what the meaning of being tough is all
about." Soto said as the demons charged forward in a second wave that
took out most of the motel building.
"Man, is everyone all right?" Luke asked as the group took cover from
incoming laser fire.
"Yea but not for long." Soto said as American-man stood up and sent his
energy blast to a pulse that ripped apart the ground beneath the demon's
feet. Demonoid's destiny would have to wait since the group had no plans
to expire at the time.
Fire energy rays causing his hand to glow, American-Man tried to knock
the demon lord down once again. This time, however, Demonoid was
prepared for the attack and was able to swiftly dodge it.
"Time to put petty differences aside." Luke glared at Soto, who nodded
back. As Soto leapt on the demon's back, he held it's skull head in place
for American-Man to hit with all his might.
"Thanks for the assist." American-Man said to Soto as the demon and hero
exchanged blows. With American-Man's full arms glowing,
American-Man threw punch after punch at the frozen faced monarch.
As Demonid fired his own energy blast from his hand, American-Man
simply reflected it away. As American-Man stood in a figure X position,
he hit Demonoid with everything he had. The release of energy floored
everyone else, demon and hero alike.
"Did we make it?" Luke asked as he sat up in a mound with his friends.
"I think so," Soto said as he looked about with no sign of either the
demons or the town itself. "The town must have been some kind of mental
projection. An illusion trap for us."
"It's over for now, let's return home." American-man said as he collapsed
to his knees and changed back to Christine. "I could use a good night sleep
in the arms of my favorite man."
Soto smiled and scooped Christine up to carry her home. As they kissed,
they giggled at their foolish fight.
