I'd like to tell the story of just how I became who I am today. For the 18
months before my 40th birthday I allowed my hair to grow back to a length

holding the brush and mixing bowl in her hands and stirring. And smiling.
And while never breaking eye contact she took the full brush and ran it
straight down my part line.
I yelled out, "no," but she dipped again and stroked again and again and
again. And I did nothing. She locked her eyes to mine and they told me
that she was in charge and I was hers to do with as she pleased . As she
pleased , not as I wanted but as she wanted. Hair fully coated she picked
up tweesers and began plucking my brows. Now, she had plucked me before so
I have some knowledge just how much is coming off and just when the

Susan set up our video camera before me. She set it in such a way that it

screen television before me. It was surreal. I knew it was me but it's

I stared, frozen, at myself on the screen. Time passing. I knew that I had

I don't know how long it took. It seemed forever and yet passed in a
moment. That line that had been constantly pushed during our marriage had
been shattered. I stood in front of the mirror as Ms Susan fluffed my hair
