As we say goodbye to the 21st century, we have a very special show in store for you. Sixty-six years ago, in 2033, my great-grandmother, the original Oprah Winfrey had a series of shows debating Hertozine and Histromycin. As difficult as it might be to believe, at that time these two drugs were considered controversial. At this time, I'd like to show you a few minutes from these shows. [A screen is lowered and a three minutes of videotape comes on featuring a lively debate about the merits of Hertozine and Histromycin. At various points there is murmuring from the studio audience, especially when a young man with short hair wearing a polo shirt and jeans is shown. The videotape ends and the screen is raised.] Oprah: Today we will be looking back at the last century and discussing the changes to society. I don't think it would be an exaggeration to say that the last hundred years have seen the biggest changes to the social order in human history. We have several guests today who have interesting perspectives on some of these changes. Our first guest is Congresswoman Karen Tompkins. As you may have guessed, the Congresswoman is the granddaughter of one of the young woman we just saw in the video of the show from 2033. That was Senator Jane Tompkins, who had a distinguished political career lasting thirty years, serving four terms in congress and three terms in the Senate. Her mother is Lauren Tompkins, who has had a long judicial career, and is currently serving on the Ninth Circuit on the United States Court of Appeals. Congresswoman Tompkins is in the middle of her third term, and is only 31 years old. She has already made a name for herself as a rising star in the Democratic Party. We're happy to have her on the show, and especially happy that she has brought her husband and two children with her. Let's give a warm welcome to the Congresswoman and her family. [There is loud applause from the audience. A woman with short blonde hair wearing a suit and tie comes out holding the hand of a small boy with blonde curls wearing a pink dress. Behind them, a tall man in a yellow sundress, high-heeled sandals, and a wide-brimmed straw hat trimmed with silk flowers comes out holding a baby against a very substantial bosom. They take seats, the Congresswoman holding the little boy in her lap while the man, seated next to her, continues to hold the infant against his breasts.] Oprah: Welcome to the show, Congresswoman Tompkins. Would you like to introduce your family? Congresswoman Tompkins: Thank you, Oprah, I'm delighted to be here. This little boy sitting in my lap is my two-year old son, Ronnie. Next to me is my beautiful husband, Johnnie, and he's holding our daughter, Louise, who is only two months old. Oprah: You have a lovely family, Congresswoman. At this time, I want to say a few words about the special studio audience for today's show. Our normal studio audience is approximately 90% male, reflecting our viewership. However, for today's show we wanted to have an even split of female and male audience members. In addition, we wanted to have a group of people representing the approximate demographic split of the adult population of the United States. We also have a special curtain separating the female and male audience members. The audience may have already guessed the reasons for this since they each have been given a survey prior to the show. Each member also has an electronic device that can be used to respond to questions posed during our show. The reason for the curtain is that included in today's audience are 600 married couples, and we don't want anyone's responses being influenced by their spouse's presence. [The cameras pan to the audience. The women, on the left side, are mostly dressed in casual pants and polo shirts, although an occasional suit is seen. The men, on the right side, are more dressed up, with many wearing their "Sunday dresses", or a very nice blouse and skirt combination. A few of the younger boys wear miniskirts and halter tops, exposing a navel decorated with a ring.] Oprah: Before we continue, I'm going to give a little history lesson. As we saw earlier from the highlights of the show from 2033, at that point in time H/H was mandatory in much of the country, but was still banned in many states. In 2035, that ban was lifted. By 2040, H/H was mandatory in all fifty states and in all but a few countries throughout the world. It has been estimated that 98% of all people alive have received H/H. In 2050, mammostat and mammostop were developed. By 2055, these drugs were also mandatory throughout the world. As we know, a male who takes mammostat will develop breasts at puberty, allowing them to experience the joy of breastfeeding and nurturing a new life. Mammostop inhibits mammary development, so a woman who takes it does not develop breasts. The advent of these drugs has altered the world in many ways, some positively, some negatively. On the one hand, women have become empowered to a degree which would have been thought unimaginable in any other era. It is fair to say that throughout the entire world women are now the dominant sex. While that has allowed women the freedom to develop themselves to their fullest potential, it has not come without a price. Men have seen their options restricted, in some cases by social custom and in other cases by law. On this show today, we will discuss some of these growing trends. Oprah: Congresswoman Tompkins, before the show you were telling the story of how you and your husband met. Could you fill our audience in? Congresswoman Tompkins: I'd be happy to, Oprah. Three years ago I went down to Key Largo to do some scuba diving. I went with three buddies, some sorority sisters from college. At the time I was 28, and starting to think about meeting someone and settling down, raising a family. Oprah: Is it fair to say that you had sown your wild oats and were looking for some stability in your life? Up to that point you had a reputation for being a real stud, and some of the most beautiful boys in town were seen on your arm. Congresswoman Tompkins: (looking somewhat embarrassed) That's basically true, Oprah. Anyway, one evening we were at a waterside restaurant in Key Largo. We'd had a long day of diving and now we were relaxing, the food was great and the beer was cold. We'd been there about an hour and our waitress, a football player from Miami, told us her shift was ending and her replacement would be taking care of us for the rest of the evening. And then Johnnie comes over (she points to her husband). He was the most beautiful boy I'd ever seen. He asked if we needed anything and I was literally tongue-tied. My best friend ordered another round of beers, and my three buddies had a good laugh as he left, joking how I had made quite an impression on him. Then one of them made a complimentary, but slightly vulgar comment about a certain part of the male anatomy. Oprah: And what was your response? Congresswoman Tompkins: I looked at them and said without a trace of humor not to use that sort of language about my future husband. I got up from the table and found him, and I begged him to go out with him. He waited until we were leaving and gave me his number. Three months later we were married. We actually went out twice before I found out Johnnie was a beauty king. He was the first runner-up in the Mistman Florida contest. Oprah: Here's a little bit of the Mistman Florida pageant of 2095. [A video screen shows the bathing suit portion of the contest. Johnnie comes on stage wearing a bikini, his long red hair presenting a stark contrast to the black bathing suit. He is very well endowed on top, and wears white high heels which emphasize a pair of smooth, shapely legs. His bikini bottoms are tight, showing a substantial bulge. He takes his place in line, standing next to a bevy of young bikini-clad boys. They are all similarly built, tall, flat stomached with very large and firm breasts, and tight bikini bottoms exhibiting a large package. The women in the audience whistle appreciatively.] Oprah: Johnnie, how about giving us your perspective. [She turns to the Congresswoman's husband, Johnnie. He has a big smile on his face, and begins to answer her question, speaking very softly.] Johnnie: I had just turned nineteen, and had a summer job waiting tables. We get a lot of groups of female divers in Key Largo, and they tend to be pretty aggressive, so most of the waiters are used to being hit on. But Karen was different. She was so earnest it was kind of cute, plus she was handsome. She was tripping over her tongue so much she barely gave me a chance to say yes. After two dates I knew she was the one. She proposed on our fourth date. The whole nine yards, getting down on her knees and giving me the most beautiful diamond a boy could ever have. I said yes immediately. We had a fairy-tale wedding. [A video montage is shown to the studio audience of their wedding, first showing them in front of the priestess, the Congresswoman in a tuxedo and Johnnie in an elaborate wedding gown. The Congresswoman promises to "love, honor and protect" Johnnie, while he promises to "love, honor and obey" the Congresswoman. The couple is shown dancing, the Congresswoman strongly leading a passive Johnnie around the reception hall as guests look on. Finally, Johnnie is shown joyously tossing a bouquet of flowers to a group of pretty groomsmaids.] Oprah: Johnnie, you were preparing for your sophomore year at University of Florida, where you were an education major. You got married in the fall and decided not to continue with your studies, correct? Johnnie: Yes, Oprah, that's true. After we got married we decided to start a family immediately. In fact, we went to the fertility clinic the day after our wedding, right before we left for our honeymoon. We had already planned on a boy for our first child and a girl two years later. So the clinic took an egg from Karen and a semen sample from me, and we watched on the screen as the conception occurred. I thought I had cried a lot as a groom, but it was nothing compared to watching out little boy being conceived. [His voice actually begins to choke up a little, and Oprah offers some tissues which he uses to dab his eyes.] Oprah (turning to the Congresswoman, who holds her husband's hand and smiles): Congresswoman, I'm guessing your reaction was somewhat different. Congresswoman Tompkins: Oprah, I think that is just a basic difference between women and men. I was probably the typical beaming proud mother, while Johnnie was crying tears of joy. The combination of men being so much more emotional than women and the normal strong paternal urges is very strong. [Just then Louise begins to cry.] Oprah: Sounds like someone is hungry. [Johnnie begins to rise, but Oprah stops him with a firm, but gentle arm.] Oprah: And where are you going? Johnnie: I was just going to go backstage and take care of the baby. Oprah: You don't have to go backstage; it's nothing to be embarrassed about. I've always thought that the people, and I mean women for the most part, who get upset at breastfeeding in public seem to have confused biology and sex. There is nothing more natural than a man feeding a baby, and there is nothing sexual at all about that act. [The Congresswoman produces a towel from a bag attached to the baby carriage, and hands it to her husband. Working discretely under the towel, he unbuttons the top of his dress and lowers the baby to his breast. The baby immediately stops crying, and Johnnie smiles with a look of contentment on his face.] Oprah: Congresswoman, I have to ask you this. I don't know if the two of you plan to have any more children, but since the FDA has approved the Eddington Process, if you did which of you would carry the baby for the last three months? Congresswoman Tompkins: Oprah, we have discussed this issue. We plan to have one more child, a boy, next year. And Johnnie will carry the baby to term. This was a mutual decision, and that's all I will comment on it. Oprah: Fair enough, Congresswoman. Let me ask you this: Do you see this as the beginning of a trend? Should we anticipate that in a generation only men will carry the babies to term? Congresswoman Tompkins: I wouldn't speculate, Oprah. I've learned it is very difficult to accurately predict social trends. Oprah: Since 2050, when we first developed the ability for babies to develop for their first two months outside the uterus, women have jumped at any opportunity to reduce the amount of time they have to carry a baby in their body. I have to think that in five or ten years it will be exclusively the male sex that carries and delivers babies. I'm not an expert on this subject, but in general major sociological trends in society are driven primarily by women. For example, I'm going to ask only the married men in the audience to answer two questions. Number one, do you ever wear pants? Number two, which of the following responses best describes your wife's attitude towards you wearing pants? A, she is fine with it. B, she doesn't like it, but tolerates it. C, she doesn't permit it. [The men are shown operating their electronic devices. As the camera pans the male section of the audience, it is apparent that almost all the men are wearing dresses or skirts, with only a handful wearing pants.] Oprah: I have the results. Slightly more than half of the married men, 53% wear pants. 35% of the wives are fine with their husbands wearing pants, 18% don't like it but tolerate it, and 46% don't permit their husbands to wear pants. To me, it is amazing that some women exert such control over their husbands that they will forbid them to wear pants. [She gets up and walks to the male section of the audience.] I'd like to talk to someone whose wife doesn't permit him to wear pants. Please raise your hand if you are in that group, and tell me why she won't let you. [Some of the men look around apprehensively, as if they are being watched. Finally a young man with a blonde ponytail near the front wearing a tight kelly green skirt and a white miniskirt raises his hand. He wears black high heels and stands a good foot taller than Oprah. Oprah comes over to him and he stands and speaks in a soft voice.] Man: My wife just thinks it's no more appropriate for me to wear pants than for her to wear a dress. Oprah: Have you ever argued over this point? Man: I don't believe that a man should argue with his wife. She is the head of the household and he should obey her. Besides, I think most men like wearing dresses and skirts. They just feel prettier. I know I do. Oprah: I do notice you are wearing fairly revealing clothes. Man: My wife says I have nice legs and she likes me to show them off. Oprah: Well, you're a very lovely young man. [She pats him on the shoulder as he returns to his seat, smiling broadly at the compliment.] Oprah: Congresswoman Tompkins, let's talk some politics. Congresswoman Tompkins: I'd be happy to. But it's been a long day for the kids, and my husband is going to take them back to the hotel for some well-deserved naps. [Johnnie stand up, holding Ronnie by his hand and the baby to his bosom exits the stage, waving to loud applause.] Oprah: Congresswoman, three present congress is 99% female, with only 5 males out of 435 members. There are no male senators, and the Supreme Court and Cabinet are all female. Nationally, 98% of all elected officials are female. There hasn't been a male president or vice- president since 2016. Do you see anything wrong with that? Congresswoman Tompkins: From a legal standpoint, Oprah, no. All citizens of the United States are eligible to vote, and as you know, the population of the country is actually slightly more male, 51% I believe. I do think it is unfortunate that males are not more evenly represented in the political domain. Oprah: Congresswoman, we polled the audience prior to the show. 71% of the women said they would not vote for a male for elected office. This contrasts with 26% of the men who say they would not vote for a male. These figures are very much in line with national polls taken recently. We also asked for comments as to why they would not vote for a male, and the one we got most often from women is that men are good at taking directions, not giving them. Here is what one woman wrote: "my husband grew up obeying his wife and sister, and now he obeys me. Why would I vote for someone like that to be in a leadership position?" Congresswoman Tompkins: I think that's a very extreme position, Oprah, and is not very representative of society in general. Oprah: Congresswoman, I think you are underestimating the amount of control many women have over their husbands. I want the married men to answer this question: "do you feel that your wife expects you to obey her? For example, when your wife makes a decision that affects you that you disagree with, do you feel that she expects you to obey her?" [The men operate their devices. Oprah looks at a screen.] Oprah: 65% of the men answered yes. Congresswoman, I believe that social pressures are relegating men to a kind of secondary role. Growing up, boys are increasingly pointed in directions that prepare them for marriage and a role as a househusband. Last year, only a quarter of male high school seniors went on to college, while two-thirds of female seniors went on to college. This a perfect introduction to our next guest. I'm pleased to have noted sociologist and author, Margaret Tyler. Dr. Tyler has written nine books, including the bestseller Women are from Mars, Men are from Venus. Her latest book is The Frankenstein Syndrome. Let's give a warm welcome to Margaret Tyler. [There is loud applause as a short, trim woman in a blue suit comes out on stage and takes a seat.] Oprah: Welcome, Dr. Tyler. We're glad to have you on the show. Dr. Tyler: I'm happy to be here, Oprah. Oprah: Let's get right into your book, Dr. Tyler. The basic premise of the book, if I understand it, is that as women have become the dominant sex they have made many of the same mistakes that men made when they were in that position. Dr. Tyler: I think you've captured my general thesis very well. Look, in many ways the 21st century has been like a gigantic laboratory experiment. There is no question that there have been more sociological changes in the last century than the rest of human history combined. Change is a constant in humanity; there is no denying that. The difference is that in the past this change has been brought about by a natural evolution of the human condition. This past century's changes have been driven by a series of artificial biological and anatomical changes. Oprah: And I take it that you find this very disturbing, Dr. Tyler? Dr. Tyler: I find it disturbing from a number of aspects, Oprah. First, the changes are being forced upon the male population with no consideration for their wishes. The Eddington procedure is a perfect example. I agree with you that in five to ten years that only males will carry babies to term. And the sole reason for that is that we women have decided that it's inconvenient, and childbearing should be left to the men. The second issue I have with all these changes is where does it end? We have already seen in developing countries laws passed which have effectively stripped men of basic human rights. Look at much of the Arab world - males wear the burqa, are forbidden to vote and drive, and are treated as chattel, little more than property of their wives. There are tribes in Africa that practice ritual male genital mutilation, where a wife may remove one or even both of her husband's testicles, as she pleases. Congresswoman Tompkins: Dr. Tyler, the congress is debating a bill which would provide funds to promote basic human rights for all people, both female and male. I think all Americans, but especially women, have a stake in seeing that men have equal rights. After all, we only have to look back in our own history to see examples of women being denied basic human rights. Oprah: Dr. Tyler, you say that this past century has been like a gigantic laboratory experiment. Can you elaborate on that concept? Dr. Tyler: I think a perfect example would be the concept of "The Weaker Sex". A hundred years ago most of the world considered women the weaker sex. [Various sound come from the audience, the most predominate being laughter.] Dr. Tyler: I can tell the audience is surprised, but they have to remember that the term weaker sex was largely based on sheer physical strength and size. Men are larger and stronger than women are, and for most of human history have held the majority of the positions of power. However, in the last 50 years it has become the men who are thought of as the weaker sex. A large part of that is due to the fact that women now hold almost all positions of power in society; indeed, you would have to go back to the early 1900's to find a time when women as a group were as powerless as men today. But I would have to say that the most surprising aspect of this role reversal is that men are now considered to be the weaker sex physically. That is because this concept of weak and strong has significant environmental components. Men are still larger and naturally stronger than women, especially regarding upper body strength. The difference is in society's expectations. The idealized female role today is of a woman who is tough, aggressive, even brutal if need be, able to fight wars, build civilizations, and generally be the engines that move society forward. A woman is expected to be authoritative and uncompromising. On the other hand, the idealized male role has become someone who is weak, docile and timid, naturally turning toward his woman for protection. Men are thought of as soft and pliable, better at taking direction than giving it. These roles are reinforced from the time of birth. As time goes by these stereotypes become more and more set. Little girls play with toy guns while little boys play with dolls. As they age the girls are expected and even encouraged to raise a little hell, while boys are supposed to be prim and proper. The biological and anatomical changes that are now mandated by law in every country on earth have ensured that these relatively recent roles will carry on indefinitely. Look at high school sports. Women wrestle, play football, even high school boxing teams have begun to appear. Men are encouraged to go out for gymnastics or play field hockey or be cheerleaders. All non-contact activities. Oprah: There is a safety question, Dr, Tyler. It is a fact that boys are very vulnerable. Dr. Tyler: That's true, Oprah. They could get hit in the genitals or breasts. But of course it was only 50 years ago it was women who developed breasts, and most girls were steered away from contact sports because it was felt that they could get hurt, especially if they competed against boys. [The female half of the audience laughs loudly at this statement by the doctor. The male half of the audience is silent.] Oprah: Dr. Tyler, you seem to indicate in your book that you think mammostat and mammostop should not be given at birth. Dr. Tyler: I don't know that I would go that far, Oprah. But I do think that the policy should be reviewed, and if not changed, at least tweaked. For example, the average cup size for men is somewhere between DD and DDD, based on data from brassiere manufacturers, Compare that with the average woman's cup size from 100 years ago, which was between B and C. Now women 100 years ago had no problem breastfeeding a baby with the smaller breasts. Some of the difference could be explained by the fact that men have a larger frame, but most of the massive increase in breast size boils down to one thing: women find it aesthetically pleasing. And women run the world. Oprah: Of course, the question is whether men themselves would prefer to have smaller breasts. Or, for that matter, whether they would prefer no breasts at all. I'll ask the audience to use their meters and push A if they believe men should have breasts or push B if the believe that men should not have breasts. Question 2, push A if you think men's breasts are too large or push B if you think they are fine. [The audience is shown working their meters, and half a minute later Oprah begins to speak.] Oprah: 100% of the women and 96% of the men believe that men should be the sex that wears the breasts. However 95% of the women think men's breast sizes are fine, while 35% of the men feel that their breasts are too large. I'd like to talk to man who feels this way. [She walks to the male side of the audience. Several men raise their hands and Oprah points to a man in a blue dress. He stands, and the audience can see he is a tall man with a massive pair of breasts.] Oprah: Could you tell me your feelings on this matter, sir? Man: I feel that Dr. Tyler has framed the discussion perfectly. Men have breasts this large [he points to his own chest] because women like it. I just got finished breastfeeding our second child, and you should have seen me then. It was like walking around with two basketballs! In school I was the first boy to develop, and I always felt that girls were staring at my chest. Oprah: How does your wife feel about this? Man: She thinks I look perfect, but can understand that I am uncomfortable and find it physically draining. That is why with her approval I am looking into breast reduction surgery. [He sits down and Oprah moves back to the stage.] Oprah: Dr. Tyler, you write in your book that you have a major concern about the connection between women and violence. Dr. Tyler: This has become an undeniable problem in both the United States and throughout the world. Women seem to feel that that violence is the solution for many problems. Once again, this is an attitude that is reinforced in society in general. A woman who gets into a bar fight over a man is admired. Contrast that with men, who tend to abhor violence. I have a friend who is police chief of a large city. She says that 99% of violent crimes are perpetrated by women. There is a saying among police that for a male, violence is something that happens to them. Acts of true violence by a man are almost unheard of. Unfortunately, these attitudes have crept into the relationships between woman and men. In the last thirty years the amount of violence by women against men has increased by 700%. Spousal abuse has become all too common in this country. Congresswoman Tompkins: I agree with Dr. Tyler on this point, Oprah. We Democrats have repeatedly introduced a bill called the Violence Against Men Act, which would stiffen penalties for a variety of offenses, and re-classify spousal abuse as a felony. Unfortunately, the bill has been stalled in the Senate each time by the Republicans. Dr. Tyler: Oprah, I'm going to give you some statistics about the extent of the violence. In the United States, sexual assaults have risen 600% over the past 25 years. Last year, the reported rape rate was 0.2%. While that may not seem like much, that represented over 300,000 men. And remember, it is estimated that two-thirds of all rapes are not reported. And in some ways maybe this is the most disturbing statistic of all. One in fifteen men in the United States is currently in a physically abusive relationship. When you look at couples under thirty, the rate is closer to one out of every seven men. It should be alarming that young women seem to think that violence against men is acceptable. Oprah: Dr. Tyler, as you pointed out, most men are larger and stronger than women are. Why don't more fight back? Dr. Tyler: They are afraid, Oprah. Men have become conditioned to think of themselves as weak, and naturally seek out the protection of women. There is a kind of casual brutality towards men, even in American society. There is a growing movement to educate men on this subject, Oprah. NOM, the National Organization for Men, has encouraged young men, especially teenagers, to take self-defense classes. But when they tried to get these classes instituted in the public schools, they met resistance, often at the school board level. Oprah: How so? Dr. Tyler: Oprah, in most towns school boards are elected, and as you pointed out earlier, 98% of elected officials are female. Many women don't think it would be a good idea for a man to try to fight off a female attacker, the idea being he will beaten worse. And among some women, there is a more sinister motivation. Some women blame a man who is sexually assaulted, theorizing that in some way he provoked the attack by some imagined sexually provocative behavior. This is a defense actually used in some rape trials, at least in states that don't have laws forbidding it. It's referred to by trial attorneys as "The man as slut" defense. But it's far worse in other countries. In many developing countries, it is taken for granted that women are superior and men exist primarily to serve them. Beating an errant husband or son is considered normal behavior. Some of it comes down to cultural differences that are reinforced through the environment. An example is the way that language devalues men in some countries. In Arabic, the formal tense is used only when addressing a woman or any group that includes at least one female. You could be addressing a hundred men and you would use the informal tense, but if there were even one female child, you would use the formal tense. Oprah: This is a perfect time to introduce our next guest. We have with us Lucille Walker, the president of the Trojan Corporation. [A short, wiry woman wearing a turtleneck beneath a blue blazer strides confidently on stage and takes a seat next to Oprah.] Oprah: Good afternoon, Ms. Walker, and welcome to the show. Ms. Taylor: Good afternoon, Oprah. I'm happy to be here. Oprah: Why don't you give a little background on yourself and your company? Ms. Walker: I'd be happy to, Oprah. For fifteen years, I was a practicing psychologist. Most of practice was treating married couples with sexual problems. Ten years ago I went to work for the Trojan Corporation as a consultant, and last year I was named president and CEO. The Trojan Corporation actually had its roots in the 1900's. Trojan was a brand name of condoms. For those of you who don't know what a condom is, and I say is because they are still available in some third-world countries, it is a rubber sleeve that is placed over a man's penis during vaginal intercourse. It had two purposes: it was a crude form of birth control and it was used to prevent sexually transmitted diseases, or STD's as they were called. As we all know, once H/H was developed birth control was no longer an issue. And there has not been a case of sexually transmitted disease in a developed country since the Meinhoff vaccine was made mandatory almost fifty years ago. These factors contributed to a 98% drop in demand for the Trojan product, and its manufacturers were going to discontinue the brand in 2055. However, an entrepreneur named Jean Monroe had a marketing idea and bought the brand for a small amount. She had grown up during the time when H/H was first introduced, and she knew firsthand of the changes that occurred. When women go through puberty and their hormones kick in, they have a very high sex drive, much higher than men of the same age do. By the age of twelve most girls are so horny they can barely keep their pants on. And they know that at that age they aren't getting into any boy's panties for at least a few years. Since they are so far ahead of boys in that respect, many girls had turned to masturbation. While manual stimulation is fine, frankly a dildo is far superior. Jean Monroe went after and secured a large portion of that market. She marketed a line of dildos to mostly younger woman that was wildly successful. She was surprised to find out that even older women, as long as they had taken H/H, were avid users of her product. Oprah: Do you find that surprising, Ms. Walker? Ms. Walker: Not at all, Oprah. Men do have a much lower sex drive than women. That is a proven fact. In surveys, men generally say they would be happy to have vaginal intercourse two or three times a week. For women, that number is much higher, usually five to seven times a week. Oprah: I notice that you specify vaginal intercourse, Ms. Walker. I understand that in the last two decades your company has developed a new market. Ms. Walker: Yes, Oprah, we have. Sexual practices change over time. The introduction of H/H brought on a change in sexual roles, with women, once somewhat more passive than males, assuming the role of the sexual aggressor. In the last twenty years or so, we have seen anal intercourse become increasingly popular. Oprah: You mean penetration of the male by the female, don't you Ms. Walker? Ms. Walker: That's correct, Oprah. In fact our research shows that couples under forty have anal intercourse with approximately the same frequency as vaginal intercourse. Oprah: Maybe it's a sign of my age, but I simply don't understand the appeal of anal intercourse. Ms. Walker: You have to understand, Oprah, that any sexual activity has both physical and psychological components. When I was counseling couples, I often recommended that they explore a wide spectrum of sexual activities, including male penetration. I knew of many couples that I can honestly say that anal intercourse saved their marriage. Many men told me that they felt never felt as masculine as when they were surrendering their body to their wife. And women would report that that they felt like a real woman, their power and strength flowing through their veins. Anal intercourse also has the added benefit of being allowing men to experience a truly passive role during sex. From a purely physical standpoint, a woman who is a skilled lover can stimulate a man's prostate and give him an incredibly intense orgasm. However, as we in the business say, you've got to have the right tools to do the job well. To that end, the Trojan Corporation has made three different lines of dildos strictly for anal intercourse. Oprah: In fact, Ms. Walker, your company's sales have grown dramatically in the last two decades, haven't they? Ms. Walker: That's true, Oprah. In 2080 we had $350 million in sales. Last year, we reached the $6 billion mark. We have almost thirty percent of the total market, so we're talking about a twenty billion dollar market. And most of that increase has been from those three lines. You have to realize that when women bought dildos for their own use, she would buy maybe one or two a year. She knew what she liked and stayed with it. Most couples buy a dildo for anal intercourse together, and, well I know it sounds sexist to say this, men like to change their minds. Our research shows that the average woman who purchases dildos buys 5.3 per year. Actually, we market 26 different styles of dildos under three different brand names: EZ Rider, Sweet Cheeks, and Sophisticated Woman. And, of course, we still have our original line for a woman's personal use, the Herown line. Oprah: Can you show us an example of your product, Ms. Walker? Ms. Walker: Certainly, Oprah. I brought two samples. [She opens her briefcase and takes out two long, rectangular boxes. She opens one of the boxes and takes out a sleek flesh colored dildo, approximately twelve inches long.] Here is our Weekend in Paris model, from our Sophisticated Woman line. It is our most popular model in this line, which is sold predominately in fine department stores, upscale women's clothing stores, and cigar shops. [She opens another box and takes out another dildo. The camera pans in for a close-up, and it is apparent that this model is very different from the first one. It is much longer and thicker, tan colored with a pair of very large artificial testicles attached at its base. As the camera zooms in on the box, the cover shows a sillihouette of a man on all fours with an enormous bosom and his derriere slightly elevated. There is print beneath the image that is too small to read.] Ms. Walker: This is our Crazy Southern Nights model, part of our Sweet Cheeks line. Oprah: Could you tell me about this model, specifically the difference in size from the last model? Also, what's with the logo, and what is printed beneath the logo? Ms. Walker: The size differential is just a matter of personal preference. Most of our dildos are between ten and fifteen inches long. This model happens to be one of our largest and is 17 inches long. The model who posed for the cover is a former Playlass playmate, and he is actually married to me. The print says for the pleasure he wants, and the control she needs. Oprah: So you think for a woman it comes down to control? Ms. Walker: In part, Oprah, I do. Look, given two sexes, one will be dominant. In the past it was the male sex, now its women. I think both sexes expect and prefer that women be the aggressor during sex. That is not to say that men should be totally passive. For a couple to have truly satisfying sex lives they must communicate and be on the same page. Oprah: Ms. Walker, in the last ten years your company has branched out into other sex-related areas. For example, you purchased Sammy's Closet, a high-end retailer of lingerie. And you also have recently been aggressively marketing male lubricants, correct? Ms. Walker: That's true, Oprah. Lingerie can be a very powerful stimulant for arousal, for both sexes. Just as a woman can become very excited looking at a man in a sexy negligee, a man can become just as turned on knowing he has aroused his woman. We carry an extensive line of sensual undergarments for every mood that a man has. And we have focused more on getting the word out on our Prelude line of natural male lubricants. Intercourse, whether anal or vaginal, should be pleasurable for both partners. When it comes to vaginal intercourse, lubrication is almost never a problem. Most women have extremely high sex drives, and their bodies naturally produce the proper amounts of lubricants for pleasurable intercourse. For men, that is not the case. The male body, unlike the female body, is not self-lubricating. And that is where our Prelude line of male lubricants comes in. Oprah: How does it work? [Ms. Walker takes what looks to be an undersized egg carton from her briefcase and opens it up. Inside are what appear to be small eggs.] Dr. Walker: The eggs are actually dry to the touch at first. However, they are heat-activated, and are very fast acting. They contain a generous portion of a natural lubricant and a small dose of a sedative. At the initiation of any sexual activity a woman simply takes the egg and inserts it into the anus of her partner. Ms. Walker: Theoretically, it would, Oprah. But I do think that most women and men would view that as deviant behavior. It probably comes down to the difference between the female and male psyche. As I said earlier, it's a way for men to surrender themselves to their woman, and to let her know that he belongs to her. I think for a man it's very important for him to know that there is a woman to protect him and take care of him. That need simply doesn't exist among women.
