Author's Note:
Shall I admit that this story originally started as a caption for an
anime picture I found? It quickly spiraled out of control in length and
I had to stop when the text required an average browser to scroll down
to read everything. I thought I could leave it at that but the damn
story kept popping up in my head until I finally sat down to flesh it
out into a nice little story. I'm quite proud of this tale and I hope
you like it as well.

The invitation was incredibly strange. I turned it over in my hand. Four
very gorgeous girls were on the cover, posing in sand and surf with
bikinis that bared just about everything. Inside was a personalized
message to me asking me to come to a private island resort in the
Florida Keys.
There were instructions on how to get to the location, it promised food,
fun and friends. It was also an all expenses paid offer. It was signed,
"all your old friends."
It'd been a long time since anyone had called themselves my friend. Not
since I was running around with my college non-fraternity. I looked at a
photo on a nearby shelf. In it I looked a lot better, I was posing with
four other guys in front of the house we all shared. We were quite a
crew. We'd done some crazy shit, setting off pipe bombs in the
neighborhood for fun over the Independence Day holiday, throwing two of
the top twenty parties of all time according to public student opinion
poll, we even managed to con one of the sororities into being our slaves
for a night. Not that we did anything to them that they didn't want us
to do of course. Hell, if it hadn't been for those buds of mine I'd
never have come out of my shell.
I stopped my reverie and looked around my apartment. The spartan
appearance brought me back to the realization that I was back in that
damn shell. Somehow after college I found that "business" went to work,
retracted from my friends and...became no one. Outside of the few
photographs of family and friends from college days and before there was
nothing in this apartment that was personalized to me. Hell, I didn't
even own a tv, I tended to do more work via telecommuting after coming
home at the end of the day.
Since I figured I really had nothing to lose I didn't see any reason to
avoid going to this strange vacation. The worst that could happen is it
would be an event disguised to sell time-shares or something. A little
time in the sun would make up for that.

The sight of the large expanse of ocean took my breath away. I had
caught one or two glimpses of it over some hills, but now as I rounded a
bend in the road the full effect lay before me. Endless blue, the sea
meeting a pristine clear sky. It somehow felt limitless and enclosed at
the same time. Like being inside the worlds biggest snow globe.
The road wound down to a beach house. I had a pretty good view of what
was coming. Grasses, a few trees and rocks lined the road there were no
billboards, or signs of mass tourism. I didn't see any other cars either
but there were a couple of hotties walking down the hill. They looked
back to see me and smiled and waved. I waved back, but was probably not
seen inside the dark interior of my Eldorado.
I took several meandering loops of the road getting closer to them every
time. Each time I passed their path that cut straight down the hillside
to the beach, they would wave more excitedly and I smiled and waved
back. Finally I came to a loop in the road that they had stopped on.
They stood in the middle of the road, signaling me to stop. I eased into
neutral and rolled next to them.
They looked positively ravishing, both in tiny bikinis, flip flops and
wide-brimmed hats to keep some of the sun off. They came to my window
and crowded it to get a look at me.
"YOU CAME!" squealed one, when she saw me and leaned in to give me a
hug. I was so shocked that my foot slipped off the clutch and the car
died. Her proximity certainly got me started though.
If that was her time share pitch, I think I was already sold. This was
promising to be an interesting vacation after all.
Within fifteen minutes I was standing on the beach in front of a Beach
bungalow. The girls I'd met on the looping beach road had ridden the
rest of the way here. When I pulled up to the bungalow, both had
excitedly grabbed my bags and ran inside yelling for everyone to come
out. Now I found six pairs of eyes looking at me. Six pairs of eyes
belonging to six lovely young ladies. They all looked alike in a way,
but each had distinctive traits about them. In that way They reminded me
of swimsuit models. Each highlighting a different style of swim wear
from the same line.
Helen Grayson, or Helly, as she informed me she liked to be called, put
her arm around me. She addressed the other girls. "Now that our guest of
honor has arrived, we can start this party."
Three of the girls procured instruments strewn around on random beach
chairs and started wailing out a catchy tune. Helly started dancing next
to me and indicated I should join. The two remaining girls surrounded me
and started dancing as well. I wanted to protest, but I forgot how weak-
willed I truly was around girls and found myself following their lead.
We danced, ran into the surf to swim, food and drink was brought out and
we continued to party. I partied like I did in College, even more so
because I didn't feel the need to show off, just have fun. For whatever
reason, I felt comfortable amongst these luscious babes.
Throughout the week much of this continued. The girls sometimes had
things planned, like a scuba diving tour of a sunken boat or water-
skiing. Mostly though we just danced, or sun-bathed, or did whatever
struck our fancy. The strangest activity I had was where three girls
went and buried themselves in the sand and I was sent out to find them.
Each one I found and dug out rewarded me with a warm kiss.
It was interesting how many nights ended the same way. After fun, booze,
food and some dancing I would be sitting or laying on some pillows with
one or more girls snuggled up next to me. They were incredibly intimate,
always hugging and holding one-another. Tactile contact seemed to
comprise a full third of how they communicated.
There was a late night in particular in which I was laying down, propped
by enough pillows to angle me to see stars out the window. Sissy, a
giggly girl was asleep with her head on my lap. I felt another body
slide into place next to me. It was Helly. She looked at me with very
apparent fondness in her eyes.
For awhile we talked about me. My job, my life, my love life (or lack of
one, I reluctantly admitted). My past, my dreams. I tried to steer the
conversation towards her or the other girls, but she always brought it
back to me. Some of her questions bugged me, but how could I get mad at
her? Especially as tightly as she held my arm and squished her bosom
into me.
I did little signals to let her know I would like to have sex. I leaned
in for a more intimate kiss, and I pulled her hand towards me. Clumsy
moves now that I'm older and not the spry youth I was when I'd perfected
them. She rebuffed them all. Not openly, but just in that frustrating
way girls sometimes have of denying a guy sex. It was frustrating,
because Helly, more than any of the others, seemed to be displaying all
the signs of taking this farther than tease.
I finally excused myself to take a stroll on the beach alone. After a
little bit I heard some music on the sea breeze. Following the melody I
found Nadine sitting on a sandy hill and playing a pan pipe into the
darkness around her. She caught a glimpse of me and quickly put the pipe
into a satchel she had brought along. She smiled up at me for a moment
as I stood there looking at her.
She didn't say anything as we stared at one another. In fact, out of all
the girls here she was the one that said the least and I saw even less
of. Eventually she looked back at the sea, blushing bright enough that I
could swear her face was glowing in the moonlight.
I sat down and asked her how she was. I felt concern growing in me. She
didn't just seem shy, she seemed out of place. In need of a friend.
Maybe I could actually get her to talk about herself and her friends.
Confide in me who these strange girls were and why they picked me to be
with them.
She revealed a little to me. She was more outside of the group than any
of the rest of the girls. She had spent most of her life alone and
unloved until she fell in with them. Because of that, even though she
felt accepted, she also felt intrusive and didn't want to come between
any of them. After all, they had their friendship bonds made long before
they had known her.
I instinctively felt the need to comfort her, so I rubbed her shoulders
and whispered positive encouraging things into her ear. It actually came
as a shock to me when she turned abruptly and planted her lips on mine.
I was pushed back to the ground. She stopped and looked at my face with
horror. I could see that she worried about crossing a line with me. Her
eyes said as much.
She started to apologize, but I cut her off with a smile and a kind
word. I was alright with it if she was. She saw my expression and tears
seemed to well up in her eyes. She eased into me and I had my only true
sexual encounter of my vacation.

The day before I would drive home I came out of the bungalow and found
all of the girls lined up on the beach facing me. They had been
expecting me. A part of me wondered if I'd done something wrong but they
all wore their friendly smiles and lacked any dangerous intent in their
eyes.
"Uh, what's going on ladies?"
"This is your intervention Jonny," Samantha said.
"Muh...my intervention? I had too much to drink one night, and that was
because we were all having some. I ordinarily don't drink excessively,"
I explained.
"Not that," Alicia softly purred.
"We are talking about your life," continued Minerva. "Do you really want
to go back to that crappy accounting job?"
Sissy giggled and said, "Yeah, we'd rather you stayed here with us."
Obviously I was somewhat taken aback by this offer. I was also somewhat
skeptical.
"There is something of a catch," Samantha said evenly. "Nothing that
someone like you can't handle, however."
I gave each of them a questioning look.
Helly approached me, she had been the closest to me throughout my stay.
She took my hand and held it between hers. "Jonny, what would you say if
I told you my real name wasn't Helen Gracy, but instead Grayson Heller?"
The name clicked instantly. Grayson was my best friend growing up, we
raised hell in High School and later at college. Nothing strictly
dangerous or illegal, just young guys having fun.
I looked carefully into her eyes, wondering what kind of prank this was.
But now that the name had clicked into place her eyes sealed the
revelation.
"Gray?" I asked. She nodded.
I looked around at the other girls. At college we were joined by a few
other partiers. We rented a house near the college together and called
it our Non-Fraternity. Just a place where we could really cut loose and
show the world what good times were all about; and now. Now as I looked
up I realized what was going on. It was not possible, but I don't
discount things until they are properly explained. I could see features
in these feminine faces that were indicative of my old pals.
Minerva had David Crispen's brown spiky hair that always seemed to be
statically charged, Sissy with the bows in her hair had the look of
someone who found everything funny like Doug Spencer had, Samantha had
the confident attitude that Paul Rigley utilized to keep us focused on
goals, and Alicia had that gaze that could pierce anyone, the one that
Gary Wagner often used to pick us up chicks, or con a teacher out of
extra studies. The only one that threw me for a loop was Nadine. For the
life of me, I could not place who Nadine was from that group.
My eyes going over their faces was read in turn by each of the girls. As
I recognized each one she smiled brighter and straightened up slightly.
My confusion in looking at Nadine caused her to lower her head and
blush.
Samantha came to the shy girl's aid, "Nadine is really Professor
Jacobson, you remember him right?"
That almost floored me, I felt so dizzy from all of it. "No wonder," I
whispered lowly.
Helly had put her arms around me in a supporting hug and voiced more
information. "He created a reality altering device, the university wrote
much of his theories off as delusion, so Samantha dug into her family
money and offered him this."
"This?" I asked her, somewhat perplexed.
Samantha piped up, "A life of luxury in exchange for not releasing his
work to the public at large. Being a permanent resident at this and any
other tropical or adventurous resort in the world for as long as we
want."
"As women?" I asked raising an eyebrow.
"That's the best part, though we discovered it by accident," Sissy said
in her bubbly voice. "Samantha and I were first to be changed into young
studs, but came out...like this. "She emphasized her words by hefting
her breasts in both hands.
"Then I was called in for a test," Helly spoke, squeezing me in support,
"I kind of convinced them to try it out for awhile. We are best friends,
but as guys we have certain...masculine hang-ups in being open and
comfortable with each other, but as women. We can hug each other, hold
each other and be generally closer to each other. Its a wonderful way to
live."
"Not to mention we're all a lot easier on the eyes now," Minerva
interjected giving rise to more giggles from Sissy.
"C'mon," Helly whispered into my ear needing to stand on her tip toes to
do so. "We were always together on our adventures before as a group. I
can't believe you would rather go back to your loveless crummy life than
to rejoin us. The last letters you'd sent me before forgetting to write
altogether were the most depressing descriptions of a man I'd ever
read."
I looked at each of their eyes. There was now a solid sense of
familiarity in each of their gazes. Old friends. Even Nadine looked up
and smiled at me. She mouthed the words, "Please stay."
She needn't have. I'd actually made up my mind already.

Epilogue:
I surprised them all when I told them what I wanted to look like. It
seemed so appropriate though. I asked to be an exact replica of Nadine.
Since I had my special connection with her and I wanted to do something
to make her feel like even more a part of the group I became her twin.
Since then we barely part. She showed me more than I can ever imagine
about living on the female side of life; and I am happy that because I'm
there, she feels more like she's a part of the group than ever before.
She also confided to me a secret. She didn't invent the reality altering
device. It was actually an ancient relic from a strange ancient
civilization. Something known throughout some academic circles. It
didn't really change reality, it just acted as some kind of Activator*
for what reality does on its own.
