I felt amazing entering the party; there I was with three other women
dressed as the stars of Sex in the City. The only difference between me
and the three other gorgeous fashionistas was that I was the only man in
our crew. I was wearing a midnight black Oscar de la Renta, cocktail
dress with a silver paillette-embroidered bodice and an ostrich feather
skirt. I had strutted in on a pair of black Christian Louboutin patent
pumps with 4 inch heels. My long brown hair was shinning and styled in a
wave cascading over my left shoulder. I was holding a little black satin
Fendi clutch which had my (male) id, a lipstick, mints, some cash and a
credit card. Me and my three partners in fashion had made quite an
entrance and were attracting a lot of attention. I just loved being at
the center of it all! I was adjusting my clip on platinum diamond
earrings when I saw James for the first time. He was staring at me,
really checking me out and I had to admit that even though I had never
had feelings for another man before that moment, I was getting turned on.
It could have been the tight dress I was wearing or the make up I had on
or the feeling of my hair on my neck and shoulders, but I was definitely
feeling something for this incredibly hot guy wearing doctor's scrubs who
would not takes his eyes off me. I looked away and started walking to the
bar with my cousin Valarie, who was dressed as Carrie and looked gorgeous
in her ivory Calvin Klein silk tank dress topped with a vintage floral
print opera coat and Miu Miu platform heels.
Valarie and I had always planned our Halloween costumes together ever
since we were babies. Our Moms would dress us a Raggedy Ann and Andy,
Mickey and Minnie, and Superman and Wonder Woman, we always coordinated
our costumes. When we were seventeen years old, Valarie asked if we could
dress as Betty and Veronica from the Archie comics. I agreed and we
looked amazing, Valerie with her long blond hair and blue linen dress and
me with my long black hair and red satin dress. No one could believe how
good I looked and how natural I acted as a young woman. Every year since
than we had gone with a theme that had me in drag, last year we and two
other stylists from Val's salon were the cast of desperate housewives and
I wore an incredible leather skirt that is still hanging in my closet
today. The year before that we were the Pussycat Dolls, we have dressed
as The Spice Girls, Charlie's Angels, En Vogue, even as Victoria Secret
Models. I must admit that I look forward to dressing up every year and
the week of Halloween is my favorite time. I always like spending time
with Valerie, but around Halloween it's really special, she owns a beauty
salon in the city and does my hair (which I have kept long since my 18th
birthday) and make up, we try on outfits and hang out like sisters, it's
a really good time. I always get hit on by drunk men but it has never led
anywhere, mostly because I have not wanted it to, but tonight was
different.
As we ordered our cosmopolitans (what else would Carrie and Charlotte
drink?) James came over to chat us up. He was even taller and better
looking up close; he looked like a young Tom Sellek. He asked me my name
and I replied Charlotte York with a sly smile in my best female voice.
Oh! He replied with a little chuckle and asked if I was an art gallery
manager. I pretended to look surprised and asked him how he knew. I
adjusted my hair around my ear, a very flirty move that women have used
on me with great success in the past. We started chatting and I found out
that James was a real doctor and not just dressed as one. He practiced at
Mount Sinai; he was divorced and had not been seeing anyone since his
wife left him over two years ago. He lived in Englewood Cliffs over the
GW Bridge and he was a huge Yankees and Rangers fan, just like me.
Before I knew it we cuddling together on a couch in quieter section of
the club doing Tequila shots.
Val had hooked up with a gorgeous African American guy who looked like
Taye Diggs and was dressed as a pirate. She came over and asked me if I
would be okay going home alone as she was heading out with her new
friend, who had his hands all over her. I told her that I was a "big
girl" and would be fine. James chimed in that he would take care of me
and I leaned over and kissed him on the check. Val gave me a two cheeked
kissed and slipped a condom in my purse and told me to have fun but be
careful before she and "pirate Taye" headed out of the club. James and I
started slow dancing to the house band's lovely version of "You Look
Wonderful Tonight" and he whispered in my ear that he still didn't know
my real name. I told him with a clever grin that I was Charlotte until
the sun came up tomorrow and he replied with his own sly smile that we
would than have to spend the night together so he could find out my name!
I had butterflies in my stomach and I wasn't sure if it was nerves,
excitement, or too much Tequila. I still wasn't even sure that James knew
I was a guy. How could I tell him my name was Nick and that until tonight
I was a heterosexual, occasional cross dresser?
I had my arms around his neck and was staring into his kind hazel eyes
when he leaned forward and started kissing me. I could not resist and
kissed him back. It felt amazing having his strong hands feel up and down
my back and hips and than he rested them on my bum and gave a squeeze
that made me move closer into him until I could feel his manlyhood
pressing against my stomach. Before long we were snuggling in the
backseat of a town car heading over the GW towards his place in
Englewood. My head was spinning and I felt as if I would pass out, not
very "lady like"! James told me close my eyes, lean against him and not
to worry, he was a doctor after all and he would take care of me.
I woke up the next morning all alone in a gorgeous master bedroom suite
lying in a king sized bed with soft cotton sheets. It took me to a moment
to remember where I was and what happened the night before. I was wearing
a long satin ivory La Perla nightgown with black lace trim at the bust
and waist that felt like a dream. My Oscar de la Renta gown was hanging
neatly near the walk in closet and my pumps were lined up underneath it
and my purse was resting on the bureau. The digital clock showed 10:45
AM, I had definitely slept in. I slowly got out of bed and went to the
master bathroom to relieve myself and check myself in the mirror. I was
pleasantly surprised that my make up was still basically in tact and when
I put my hair into a ponytail and put on some lip gloss I actually looked
pretty cute. I noticed the matching robe to my nightgown hanging on a
hook in the bathroom and so I put it on and slipped out the bedroom door.
James' house was large and tastefully decorated. I walked dawn the
circular staircase and saw James walking out of the kitchen towards me
holding a steaming mug of delicious smelling coffee. He handed me the cup
and kissed me on the cheek and said, "I hope you like French vanilla
sleepy head."
He gave me a quick tour of the house and we sat at the breakfast nook and
had a great breakfast of fresh fruit, granola, seven grain toast and his
awesome French vanilla coffee. He was about to introduce me to his maid
Consuela, when he looked at me and said, I still don't know your real
name. I froze. I did not know what to say or do. Did James even realize I
was a man? If he put me to bed last night he must have discovered the
truth. I decided that honesty was the best policy and I looked him
straight in the eyes and said, "Actually my name is Nick, Nicholas
Angelino."
James did not bat an eye and he turned to Consuela and said, "Consuela
this is my special friend Nick."
Consuela held out her hand and said, "Nice to meet you Madame Nicole."
I smiled at her and said, "Please just call me Nicole." James and I
smiled at each other and held hands over the table and the tension
evaporated from the room.
