Synopsis: Rob's father remarries and Rob has trouble adjusting to having

Gosh, do I hate Christine! Oh, I don't mean that she's evil or anything,
it's just that after my parents got divorced years ago, it was just Dad
and me living in the house. And things were pretty cool, like we could
hang out together and go to baseball games and stuff like that. And he
wouldn't bug me if I let dirty clothes pile up on the floor of my
bedroom. And if the dishes didn't get washed for a couple of days,
nobody worried about it. But then he started dating June - and I was
okay with that - I mean, like, why shouldn't he want to start going out
with someone of the opposite sex.
And I was even okay when, after several months, Dad and June were
getting together or going out at least once a week and often several
times. And I actually liked it when she began fixing dinner at our house
several times a week. That is, I liked the dinner and not having to wash
the dishes afterwards, but I wasn't wild about June's daughter
Christine. Now, Christine was in the same grade I was in high school so
I knew who she was but she was always, well, kind of "stuck up" -
hanging around with a group of girls that thought they were sort of the
upper class at school and better than everyone else. And she acted the
same way whenever she came over to our house with June. She'd come in
with this really bored look on her face and slouch off to the family
room to watch TV, or listen to music on her iPod, or talk on her cell
phone or type on her laptop - or maybe do all four at once - anything to
avoid the rest of us! And during supper she'd just pick at her food and
not join into the conversation. And then after dinner she made it clear
that she was ready to leave as soon as the kitchen was cleaned up. For
Dad and June's sake I tried to be nice to her but after being ignored
numerous times I just kind of acted like she wasn't there - which seemed
to be fine with her.
You know how it is when you're in high school - how both the boys and
girls are going through puberty and our bodies are changing - which
isn't all that bad - it's just that some kids mature earlier than others
do. Like when you're a Freshman and still not shaving and some of the
other Freshmen have developed these deep voices and a 5 o'clock shadow.
And I guess that it's probably the same for the girls that are flat-
chested while some of the other girls have really developed. But by the
time I was a Junior I was still one of the smaller kids in my class at
5' 6" and 125 pounds. I still had a very slim figure and little body
hair or muscular development. Now, I don't mean that I was a "wimp" or
anything because with my low body mass I was one of the best runners on
the school's varsity Cross Country team and turned in better times than
many of the guys who were heavier and had a more muscular build.
Also, my voice hadn't deepened as much as a lot of the other guys. It
had always been rather high and when it did deepen it still was kind of,
like, halfway between a girl's pitch and a boy's pitch. It's kind of
annoying because when I answer the phone and the caller doesn't know me,
occasionally they'll refer to me as "Miss" so when the caller ID shows
someone I don't know, I'll try to pitch my voice a little lower when I
answer.
But there were a couple of areas of my body that, well, I couldn't wait
till they matured. No silly, I'm not talking about my dick - at 7" I
really don't have any complaints in that area. Well, maybe an extra inch
or so wouldn't have been bad but I really wasn't unhappy with my
development "down there." The problems were with my chest and my tummy.
Now there were a couple of guys in my class that had a worse problem
with their chest than I did - like they had these "boy tits" - some of
them had these things that looked more like they belonged on a girl than
a boy. Mine weren't as bad as theirs but my chest was sort of, well,
just kind of "soft."
And a lot of the other boys had these really well defined abs while that
area of my anatomy was just sort of "undeveloped." Well, "undeveloped"
probably isn't the right word for it - the area around my navel is just
sort of slightly rounded. I'd tried doing all sorts of exercises to firm
up my abdomen but none of them seemed to have any effect. When I look at
my profile in the mirror I can see that I have this slightly rounded
tummy that swells out maybe an inch or so. At my last physical I kind of
stammered around and finally asked the doctor when I could expect to
develop a more normal chest and tummy. He smiled and assured me that my
development wasn't abnormal but that I just had a very slight case of
gynecomastia and a little extra adipose tissue in my abdominal area. (I

really "fat." Why can't doctors use normal words instead of fancy
medical terms?) Anyway, he said that as I continued to mature that both
of those areas would "take care of themselves."
It was around Thanksgiving that Dad dropped the bombshell - he and June
were getting married. Well, I guess that the shouldn't have come as that
much of a surprise to me, considering the amount of time they had been
spending together.
"So, where are we all going to live?" I asked.
"Considering that June and Christine are living in an apartment, and
we've got a 3-bedroom ranch, our place is the logical choice," he
answered.
June I could put up with, I actually liked her, but Christine? I wasn't
going to argue that point with Dad however as I knew what the outcome
would be. So anyway, after a short civil ceremony the four of us spent a
weekend moving June and Christine's things into our house. Well, Dad,
June and I did most of the moving. After Christine had moved her clothes
and things into her new bedroom, she lost all interest in the moving
process and spent most of the rest of the weekend in her bedroom with
the door closed.
Things were pretty tense around our house after that. It was one thing
to have June and Christine over at our house several times a week, it
was something else to have them there 24/7. June was okay but Christine
was either moping around the house in a bad mood, or walking around with
her nose up in the air like she was the queen of the palace, or
something. And of course Dad was trying to make her feel at home so it
was always, "Christine, what would you like for supper tomorrow?" Or,
"Which channel do you want to watch on the TV tonight?" Or, "Which movie
would you like to see tomorrow night, Christine?" At times I kind of
felt like an intruder in my own house.
Man, major embarrassment this morning. Christine and I were always in a
competition to see who could make it to the shower first every weekday
before school. Like, we both wanted to sleep in as late as possible, but
we also both wanted to wake up just before the other one so as to win
the "bathroom derby" that morning. And whenever Christine won she
usually took such a long shower that there wasn't that much hot water
left for me. What a pig! Well anyway, I'd won the derby this morning and
was enjoying my shower. Actually, I was enjoying something else as I

Man, I hope that Christine enjoyed her date last night. I don't know
what time she got in but she wasn't home when I went to bed around
11:30. But she was sure paying for her date this morning. Since it was
Saturday I wasn't in a real rush to get out of bed so I was just lying
there and daydreaming and playing with myself a little when around 9 am,
I heard Christine's bedroom door open and her feet on the hallway floor
as she rushed to the bathroom. "Man, it's Saturday," I thought, "No
derby today. I wonder what her rush is?" It must have been almost a half
hour before I heard her come back to her bedroom and by that time I was
ready to get dressed so I grabbed some clean clothes and made my way to
the bathroom. As I opened the door my nose wrinkled at the smell and as
I approached the toilet I could see that someone (Who else but Christine
the wonder girl?), had barfed in it and not bothered to flush it, and
had even gotten some of it on the toilet seat. So before I took my
shower I had to spend several minutes cleaning up the aftereffects of
Christine's date the night before. Like, getting sick isn't that awful
(Even though it's not something that I'd look forward to doing), but
couldn't she at least clean up after herself?
