Spring of 1980 was a very rough time, fresh out of Basic Training and
Advanced Individual Training (AIT). Private Don Madison was met at the DC
Greyhound station by two Agents of the army's CID, Criminal
Investigations Division.
He was secreted on post in the dead of night, where the Post AG handled
all the in-processing himself while no one was around to see what was
going on, or who was being assigned as the newest Joint Drug Suppression
Taskforce Agent.
He was issued Credentials known in the law enforcement communities as
Creds. His mission was to investigate the unit he was being assigned to.
One of the two local MP Companies. He got a crash history of what the
units primary mission was.
The 437th was a Phase One STRAF deployment unit. In event of an Alert the
unit had only four hours to clear US Airspace in deployment to where ever
it was needed.
The big problem was there were suspected drug dealers in the unit. But no
one could just go in to investigate, they already knew everyone. Or had
contacts to verify who everyone was. DST needed a new face,
unrecognizable. Who could be checked out and found to be what they
presented themselves as.
Private Madison was just that, fresh out of Basic and AIT, no one knew
anything about him. But the facts they could check were very real. Two
months before enlisting he had been under his home states drug task
force's investigation for dealing Marijuana, he was believed to sell only
in pounds. But had never been actually caught with more than an ounce.
Then the same month after enlisting, while waiting to be sent off for
basic, he was busted with two other people. In his possession at the time
was five pounds of seed, three loaded handguns, and arsenal of various
guns in his trunk, All Loaded at the time.
The Arresting Officers were so excited they simply forgot to read anyone
their Miranda rights. And so all statements and evidence became
inadmissible, the Vice Squad investigator narrowed his eyes when he
talked with the recruiter, he couldn't believe this Little Shithead had
actually joined the Army to become an MP.
As he looked into things further Officer Finke discovered that he had a
cousin who was a US Marshal as well as a whole string of relatives who
were in law enforcement.
Officer Finke had friends in the Army CID, and remembered one saying they
needed a new face that wouldn't be recognized. After everyone else had
left the office he picked up his phone and dialed the number, and Private
Madison's fate was sealed.
"Look," Agent Cooper said. "We've been after this bunch for over two
years. You get us convictions and you're a Specialist no problems. If you
decide you don't want to go along we'll just let it be known who you work
for." He slapped a stack of photos on the table. "This is what happened
to the others we sent in."
How do I know all this you ask? I used to be Private Madison.
So there I was sitting at the Greyhound station trying to get a ride to
post so I could check in with my new unit, the 437th. "Look what you want
to do is jump on the DC, Belvoir Metro bus. It'll drop you at the front
gate, we'll send patrol to pick you up when you get there." The desk Sgt.
Sounded bored as well as stoned.
"Hey, how long till the bus to Belvoir comes along?" I asked the ticket
clerk.
"Three hours, you'll need to change at the Pershing Street terminal."
"Thanks, I appreciate the information." I walked outside to light up a
cigarette and get my first good look at DC. I noticed the Hookers on the
corner, and one came my way.
"You look lost, can I show you around." She winked.
"Sorry Honey I'm broke," I told her honestly. "Besides I'm just passing
through. I have a three hour wait for the Metro to take me to the
Pershing street terminal."
"You're in luck Dearie, Mona just got off work. How about you walk with
me and I'll get you there in time to catch the bus to the Fort in thirty
minutes."
"How do I know I can trust you?"
"You don't, but then again you could just wait here for three hours then
wait there for another two."
"You know you're pretty hot for a guy," I told her.
Now she drew back and looked at me more closely. "Are you just guessing
or can you really tell?"
I held out my hand fingers spread away from me. "This is how you should
check your nails. Only guys curl their fingers to inspect their nails."
"See Mona, I told you," a black girl said joining us. "I'm Tawny. So how
is it that you know that bit of information?"
"I have three sisters, who I was very jealous of growing up." After a
second I added. "I was even more jealous after I didn't develop enough to
fill their bra's."
They walked me to the terminal and waited with me until the bus came.
"Whenever you get into DC you call us. We'll show you a good time."
Tawny looked me up and down. "It's a shame you won't be able to show off
your legs on post. But I think we're about the same size, you can raid my
closet when we go out," she giggled.
I'd only been there a few weeks when the unit got deployed. It was like
total chaos. But in three hours there we were on C141 Star Lifters headed
out over the Atlantic, I watched the four people I had picked out as my
targets.
I called them A,B,C and D, at the moment D was trying to be nonchalant
about swallowing the Black Beauties he'd been passing out to anyone who
wanted them. He had it figured out who would turn him in and who
wouldn't.
As we got word that we were turning around, he pulled out small vial and
snorted coke off the back of his hand.
No one paid attention to me after we landed. I was just a dumb Newby lost
in the turmoil. It only took a few minutes to get all the evidence I
needed.
Three days later Agent Cooper said. "You did good Specialist. Here's four
day pass. Go get laid or drunk. Take in the DC lights. You've earned it.
when you get back we'll have a new unit for you."
I only thought about it for ten minutes before I used a pay phone to call
the number Tawny and Mona had given me. They weren't home, but I decided
to go anyway and try again once I got into town. I rushed to the barracks
and changed into Civvies. I didn't want to be seen in town in uniform too
much.
It was a short forty minute ride, and I used the pay phone at the
terminal. On the fourth ring it was answered. "Brittany, if you're
looking for Tawny she's at the Butterfly."
"Mona, it's me Don, or should I say Dawn."
"Who?"
"You know the GI that gave you the advice about your nails?" I prompted.
"You both said if I was ever in town give you a call."
"Oh Sweetie, where are you right now? Is that you on the payphone next to
the bus stop? Look up."
I looked up, and there she was on the third floor balcony waving at me.
"Come to the door I'll meet you and show you the apartment."
On the way up she said. "Sorry about the wait I called Tawny to tell her
you were raiding her closet." She giggled. "I know just the perfect
outfit."
I was wearing a pleated Plaid Pleated Mini that I just knew couldn't
possibly cover my pink panties as we walked toward the Butterfly in a
pair of borrowed three inch heels. Tawny had a pair falsies she never
wore anymore, and Mona had insisted I wear them, along with one of Mona's
long blonde wigs.
As we walked she asked. "So how long have you been dressing?"
I could feel myself sliding into full girl mode as I giggled. "Since I
could walk."
"I thought so, you didn't need any help at all with your makeup and you
put on those fake nails like a Pro." After a moment she said, "You're
going to like the Butterfly."
"Exactly what is the Butterfly?"
"Only the best known strip club in DC. The Butterfly Lounge, it's where
Tawny and I work on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. What did you think we were,
Hooker's?"
I blushed. "Sorry, saw you on the corner with those other girls."
We got a lot of hoots and hollers, as we turned to walk up fourteenth
street to the night club. I got my ass patted and groped at almost every
corner.
Then we were at the club. "Sorry Mona, but we have to see your
girlfriends ID. We don't want any underage kids coming in here."
'Shit I thought to myself. I fished around in the borrowed purse looking
for my regular driver's license. I was cursing myself for not leaving my
Creds locked up in my wall locker when Tawny said. "Franky, she's in the
Army give her a break. She borrowed all that from my closet."
"For real? You're in the Army?" he asked. And I snapped him a perfect
salute. "In that case the first ones on the house."
I sat with Mona watching Tawny dance on the stage. Trans Girls only
stripped down to their panties. And this was one of the two Trans Girl
nights, it seemed like they all kept buying me drinks. And at one point I
ended up on stage, I was down to my ruffled pink panties and three inch
heels when I spotted him there in the back corner. Agent Barrette from
the office.
I calmly collected my clothes and the bills that had been tossed onto the
stage. Then another girl came out to start her number. I guess it was
amateur hour. The other girl had all the grace of a pregnant elephant in
roller skates.
Tawny and Mona counted out the tips I'd collected, then handed thirty to
Franky. "The house gets ten percent," Mona informed me.
"And judging by the lack of enthusiasm, I'd say three hundred in tips
makes you tonight's winner. But you need to learn to not rush so much at
the end," Franky said. He counted out five hundred in cash. "Here you go.
Here's your winnings. I'd like to add you to my list of dancers."
I blushed, as I found myself pulled back out on stage. "Tonight's winner
Dawn," he paused.
"Just Dawn."
He bowed. "Just Dawn." Then looked to where I was looking at Agent
Barrette.
"Link," he said to the bouncer as we got off the stage. "Miss Dawn might
need an escort home tonight. I know she's with Tawny and Mona but that
CID Spook is watching her."
He put his arm around me and I felt safe. "I'll kick his ass if he tries
to follow you Baby." A moment later link grabbed a big guy at the stage
and said. "We don't allow that shit in here, Motha Fucka," and threw him
out the door. Then turned to the bartender, Lisa, Garbage disposal." When
she turned it on he threw a handful of plastic baggies into it. the water
liquefying the white powder inside.
"Calm down link, Mona was saying to him. I realized he was shaking with
rage.
Tears in his eyes he said "It's Bastards like that that killed my baby
sister with their shit."
On the way to their place he asked me what I did in the army, so I told
him. "I'm an MP."
"No you aren't. MP's are all five foot nine, that's the minimum height
requirement."
Seriously, I got in on a special reduced requirement, five foot six. Look
I can prove it. I opened Tawny's borrowed purse to fish out my unit
driver's license. But my Creds fell out on the sidewalk.
Before I could move he'd scooped them up and flipped the cover open. "No
fucking wonder you were nervous. He pulled away from me a little bit. Is
this like one of those joint investigations where they end up raiding the
club?" he demanded. I was in tears.
"God no, no I could never do that to one of my sisters."
"Sisters?"
Tawny wrapped her arms around me. "Yes Sisters, didn't you know Trans
girls are all sisters?"
"Then why are you walking around with CID Creds?"
I broke down and confessed everything to them. "So you see I wasn't given
a choice about working DST, but you know what? It's a fresh start for me.
A chance to leave my past behind. So yes I'm kinda proud to be a DST
Agent."
Tawny and Mona giggled. "In your case it has a double meaning."
"Damn Sexy Tranny," they giggled in unison. And I giggled with them.
