It all started for me when I was 4. Growing up in a Catholic family of
five three boys' mom and dad me being the youngest. I was the hope my

Jean and I were friends since birth we lived 2 doors down from one
another and out mothers were friends since they moved in. We met Nancy
and Sara at school and were best of friends. We would get together
sometimes after school and play dolls, house etc the thing girls would
till my dad found out and I was forbidden to hang out with any for my
friend.
This caused a lot of arguments in the house with my parents and I stayed
in my room for the most part except when mom would drag me along with
her.
Now with me being more depressed my trips to the physiatrist to see
Doctor Stewart he would ask why I didn't like to play with boys. And I
told him I don't know but I had more fun with Jean, Nancy and Sara.
The questions went on like do I like my brothers? I said. "No I love them
they are my brothers." Do you play with your brother? "No" why? "They are
older than me and I don't like to play sports like they do and I get hurt
when I try." So what do you like to do? "I like to play with my friend
Jean and sometimes Nancy and Sara." What do you play? "Games, dolls and
house." Do you like playing those games? "Yes." Why? "Because I like

Now this did not make either of my parents happy especially dad. Dad said
"he's a quack and doesn't know what he is talking about. We're not
sending our son back to this idiot I can fix this you will see.
Dad started setting up outing with my brothers and me to fishing,
bowling, shooting, camping, ball games and anything else that seemed
manly that would try to sway me into the boy I was supposed to be. I went
along because I loved my dad but I still did not get any excitement out
of it as did my brothers when ever these activities were setup I would
ask to stay home but was told I was going.
My dad sat down with me and asked "don't you like these activities"?
"They are alright if you like them I will go because I love you dad but I
would rather stay home or play with Jean." This brought a tear to my
dad's face not knowing what to do.
That night my parents had a talk about what to do for me. Mom said "Do
you think Doctor Stewart was right? Is our son not our son but our
daughter? What is next?"
They took some time to discuss the options and what would be best for me.
Mom called Doctor Stewart to see what he recommended. "Let him live as a
girl for awhile and see what happens."
Mom and dad talked about this and how this might or might not work before
they brought it up to the family. I was not taken to grandma for a
haircut in 6 months and was happier though my hair was only covering my
ears. My brothers didn't care when asked and said he acts gay anyways and

So with the decision made that I was going to live as a girl for awhile
mom want to the store and bought me a girls outfit, panties, slacks,,
tops and pair shoes she called Jean's mom Allison who is a beautician for
some help with my hair. Now mom and Mrs. Jacob have been friends since
they moved in 12 years ago so she knew she would help. She looked at my
hair and suggested a pageboy cut to start till my hair grew out it would
look cute and girlie at the same time. Mrs. Jacob also volunteered to
help maintain my hair as it grew out which made mom happy.
With the outfit mom bought and my new style mom asked Mrs. Jacob and Jean
if they wanted to go shopping with us to get me a new wardrobe. We went
to town to Penny's where I got panties, sox, shoes, skirts, tops, shorts,
a dress for church, a purse, hair rollers and some jewelry. We were
having a wonderful time just us girls as we walked by a new display
selling earrings the sign said "Free piercing with the purchase of two

Mom smiles with a tear in her eye and said "why not what do you think
Tina?" Jean said "Come on Tina please." I smiles and said "OK I will
remember this day for ever and this will be my reminder of this wonderful
day." We got our ears pierced and 2 pairs of earring to start with even
though we could not take those earrings out for 3 weeks. I hugged mom and
thanked her.
When we got home we put all of my old boy clothing in boxes to make room
for my new ones we just bought. Once we were done I put on one of my new
skirts and tops and went to help mom. I found her in the kitchen and
asked if I could help? She turned and saw me with a tear in her eye she
hugged me and said she would love to have her daughter help make dinner.
Mom got me an apron and put it on me and said you look beautiful in that
new outfit and do not want you to get it ruined. Mom had me make the
salad and set the table. We talked about the fun we had shopping while we
did our part to get dinner ready.
At dinner was the first time the family seen me as Tina so it was a
little uncomfortable at first then it was our normal dinner. After dinner
I got my apron and helped mom clean up.
After we were done mom said it was time for me to take a bath. I hung up

Nothing much changed for the next few months as fall was approaching my

to watch TV I sat next to mom on the couch. When bed time came mom took

Now with summer almost over it was time for my parents to make a decision
about what to do about me and school. Mom called Doctor Stewart and set-

mommy and I went to see Doctor Stewart and daddy met us there.
At first I was asked a number of questions about how I felt being Tina?
Has anything changed? ........ With all the questions out of the way Doctor
Stewart asked if I wanted to go to school as Tina or Tommy. I immediately
responded with Tina so with that the discussion started about
registration, school and me being a girl etc...
After the meeting it was determined the being Tina would be the best
thing for me at this time so mom registered me into the Catholic school
as Tina Lynn and went and bought me 3 school uniforms, shoes, a jacket,
backpack and purse to get me started.
The 1st day of school at St Michael's mom walked me to school and
introduced me to Sister Mary my teacher.
Everything was going well with school I was adjusting to the new me Tina.
My hair had grown longer so mommy called Allison to discuss my hair needs
and said she would be happy to take care of it Saturday morning at her
salon. On Saturday mommy woke me up early so I could have breakfast
before informing me we were going to get my hair done. I got ready not
knowing what to expect but went with mommy to the salon. There I had my
hair washed, trimmed, permed and set.
When I was done I had a head full of curls that I just loved mommy said
it would be easier to maintain but would have to learn to set my hair to
keep it looking beautiful. Ok mommy will you teach me how to do it? Yes
sweetie I will. So mom taught me how to curl my hair even though we would
do each other's most nights I still needed to know how to do my own head
for those night mommy was busy or not home. That night after my bath mom
taught me how to set my hair and this was how I was to maintain it from
now on. The next morning she got me up early so I could learn how to take
the rollers out of my hair and brush it into my new style. When we got
done I put on my yellow dress to go the church for Sunday services.
Mom started letting me polish my nail and was instructing me on the
proper maintains of them. We would go everywhere together and I was
enjoying the new bond we shared.
The rest of school that year was a blur but when summer came I loved
shopping for some new summer close and a new two piece bathing suit. My
friend and I had a number of sleepover, pool parties and enjoying the
thing girls do.
The following year we received Holy Communion in our white dresses and
pretty much the same as the year before. I had grown into my life as Tina
Lynn and almost forgot what it was like to be Tommy our monthly
appointments with Doctor Stewart have changes other than my outlook on
life was a vast improvement from when I was 5.
Now that I have lived as a girl for the last few years and adjusted to
the roll it brought all new discussions with puberty approaching what was
the nest step for me. Mom has been talking to her doctor about me on her
normal visits and what might be best for me. She and her doctor came up
with a plan and on her next annual visit I went with her gynecologist
Doctor Perkins. He gave me an examination and at the end of the exam I
was given a shot and a prescription for what mom call my daily vitamins.
Mom also said that Doctor Perkins wanted to see me in a month. I asked
mommy if something was wrong with me and she said no Doctor Perkins wants
to make sure I was staying healthy and my vitamins were keeping me with
my acne. So I did not worry about it anymore. Now the monthly visits went
on for a few months and on one of the trips we made when school was out
for the summer I was given a shot the put me to sleep and when I awoke
was feeling a little sore between my legs but mom was there telling me it
would be OK in a couple of days. I later found out that I had been
castrated and my little penis was pulled back and secured with the skin

I got home mommy put me to bed and told me to rest till tomorrow and I
should feel better. Now she did not tell my dad what she had done but
said I was sick and the doctor said I should stay in bed for a day or two
and I should be better.
By the end of summer mommy said I should start removing the peach fuzz on
my legs and also taught me to shave them and my armpits. I started to
develop breast just like Jean and my other friends which seem to be
normal so I did not think anything was abnormal till daddy started to ask
questions of mommy about me.
Now you have to picture me being 5'2" at this time with light brown curly

Now you can see why he is mad at mommy for not informing him what was
going on with me. My brothers at my age were almost 6 feet tall and

few heated arguments about my best interests daddy had a talk with me
about how I felt and what I wanted to be when I grew up. My answer to
daddy's questions was that I wanted to be a mother just like mommy and be
a wife to someone someday.
I did tell him that I would like to go to college and be a nurse before I
got married.
Things finally were back to normal my brothers were graduating from high
school and going on to college I was about to start high school and
barely remember being a boy and neither does many of our family.
Mommy and I are still very close. We still do our mother daughter
shopping trips, salon trips; give one another manicures, pedicures as
well as set each other's hair. We have also taken girls weekend trips
with Jean, Allison, my Aunt Joan and Cousin Linda.
With high school starting and the latest fashions being big hair Jean and
I would often study together, set each other's hair and handout talking
about latest fashions, shopping or boys. Jean and I were the same size so
we shared our clothes with each other. We were both a size 6 and the only
difference was the she has larger breasts then I do so my B cup bras are

We have been like sisters since 1st grade and I am not sure she remembers

In high school we started dating and would double date going to movies,

the clinic where the doctor told us what he was going to do and that when
I wake up I would be just like any other girl my age.
I woke up a little sore and was in the clinic for a few days with mom by
my side. What I wasn't told that I was part of an experimental procedure
that I was given the female reproductive organs from a woman that was
killed. I was discharger but mom and I were to stay in Sweden for 6 more
weeks.
I did not know why and three weeks later when I found blood in my panties
I got really worried that something bad was happening but when we went to
the clinic it was confirmed I was having my first period also confirming
the transplant was a success. We were told we could return home but they
would like to keep in contact with my Gynecologist to see how the
transplant worked.
I was told I was as normal as any other girl my age and I should be able
to have children some day.

We returned home and I looked forward to heading off to the state college
with Jean.
