Anna leaned on the railing of the balcony and sipped at her coffee. Dawn
was an orange glow on the horizon. The city below looked as sleepy as
she felt. She smiled as she heard the screen door open behind her. Kate

she said in her own voice and kissed Anna on the lips. Rob felt the last
vestiges of hope vanish. His eyes welled with tears. Anna and Kate
