Lucinda's Betrayal

This is the story of Lucinda Regent, the Half-blood Ancient also known as
Janet Riggs, Betrayer of the Ancients. We know it skips around and is a
bit disjointed, but then it was taken from her memories while still
trying to understand that she was no longer a Loki Prisoner. It also
helps to set up the next few chapters.
In the unexplored wastes of the southern continent, Lucinda Regent lay
trapped in Stasis. Next to her were three more copies of herself. The
Loki Leader, Cylon had tricked her talking about taking control but
letting the Ancients go in peace. And the Phase Spider Queen Ruby, she'd
planned to double cross the Loki after they seized control.
She was imprisoned now because they wanted her knowledge. She'd scrambled
the location of Galaxia in the jump computers. But she'd been working to
undermine both the Loki and the First Queen. She'd used technology to
create Clones since she didn't fully trust her supposed allies.
Her clones used the name Janet Riggs, only those clones had been turned
by the prospect of power. She only hoped that her last had reached its
destination.
They took her out of Stasis when they needed her. But she was seldom
given a chance to act.
She knew the first had been destroyed on the home world. The second had
been killed at Saturn Max. It had been touchy, having two on Earth at the
same time. Especially when one wasn't loyal to either the Loki or the
Spider Queen Ruby. Of the nine clones she'd created, only the three next
to her remained, themselves held in stasis.
Now Cylon was enraged, his chief Agent Nokie Doru was dead before he
could rescue the Janet Riggs at Saturn Max. But of course she already
knew that clone was dead. Each time one died she regained a little bit of
her former self. The self that had existed before she met Cylon.
He looked down on her held there in stasis, her tears streaming down her
face at realization of what she'd done. Only he thought it was because of
his cruel abuses of her clones, in attempts to sire another Hybrid. But
no it was her own terror of the death and destruction that had followed
her betrayal.
It was in a moment of solitude, no one else around. The stasis chamber
room was silent, and at first she thought she was just imagining it.
One of the Princess' clones was having a Memory Flash. Closing her eyes
she could see the Winters Woman. Her fifth clones Granddaughter, and the
three young girls created from her DNA and manipulated to match that of
the Princess.
"Protect the Princess, Protect Galaxia," she cried out silently as she
sent her thoughts to the girl. All the Ancients children were on the Bio-
Ship Galaxia. But no one had ever heard of, or seen traces of the ship
since the beginning of the war. Since she'd sent the warnings.
Galaxia, the oldest as well as first Bio-Ship had reacted with disbelief.
"Bring me Proof," she'd demanded. As a member of the Regent family and
next in line to inherit the title of Ships Regent, Lucinda had been given
a hidden jumper embedded into her wrist that could be activated using her
middle finger. This was a secret known only to the ships and the one who
was their Active 'Regent'. But only one of the Regent Line could use the
Summoning Key.
It had taken her a long time to figure out that she could get out of the
stasis chamber. Of course she had no idea how much time had passed, not
until she was out in the free world. The first time she had placed one of
her clones in the chamber. She still had the little jumper device given
to her by Galaxia, imbedded into her wrist. Only her extra-long middle
finger could reach it to activate it though while in stasis.
And it was that which had first allowed her to escape. She was unaware
that it had taken nearly two Millennia to move that finger in stasis.
But then she discovered what her clones had been up to. That she was
branded a Traitor by the other First Beings. The only two who knew that
she'd tried to warn them were gone without a trace. She could still
remember the look on the Face of Ash' Nihau Creed when she'd jumped into
the Phase Chamber to steal the Matrix Key before Cylon could get hold of
it. The Key she'd given to her half-sister Galaxina Regent, reigning
Queen of the Orion System.
Using her mental link to her active clones, she gained the images of the
places she would need to be able to escape the frozen wastes of the
Arctic. Then she discovered the three places that Cylon had been watching
here.
'Why would they put the Academies here? Why hide the children and those
closest to the Intergalactic Leadership here on Earth where the war
began?'
She had to be careful, lest she be caught. She took the name Sylvia
Winterbourne while studying the Kitten Academy. It was run by one of the
Omegan Royal Houses, the Heart Family who had always been the keepers of
knowledge. The teachers of all the other races.
Then she finally spotted her, she was staring in disbelief at first. Why
would a direct descendant of Galaxina Regent be here on Earth? But there
it was, the Matrix Key that could Locate Galaxia. It had to be kept safe,
hidden from Cylon at all costs. If he got his hands on it he could very
well destroy every Ancient left alive.
She had certainly had no intention of falling in love. But like all
living things a need for intimate contact drove her to mate with a human.
A human who was close to the royal Princess. In hiding she'd come close
to the Princess, and both their daughters had grown up in the care of the
Royal House of Burma. Her daughter Sylvia became a diplomat to the United
States. And when the youngest Princess had married, Sylvia was given a
child. A very special child, born Steven Winters who would grow up to
become Colonel Stephanie Winters of the British SAS, and a bodyguard.
But then her Laboratory in the jungles of Burma had been discovered by
one of her own clones and she had to flee. She skipped around, knowing
that Cylon had discovered that the Lucinda he thought was her, was
actually one of her clones.
He set the clone to using the Laboratory to create more clones that were
useful to the humans who were stupidly helping him. He'd learned caution
over the last Millennia, and now manipulated those around him to do his
bidding.
When her clone discovered the three, Layla, Destiny and Corinne, they
began planning ways to use them while trying to figure out why they had
been created.
Lucinda had visited Layla in her sleep. Giving her a mental need to
protect the Princess whose true name was Mildred Galaria Regent. In the
Ancient language the 'R' was often used in place of the 'X' and 'Z' to
safe guard certain Formulas. Formulas that governed both Phase Jumping as
well as Time Jumping. The name 'Galaria' was imprinted deep in the heart
of the Emerald Key worn by the Princess.
It had been when she was trying to reach the other two, Destiny and
Corinne that she'd been discovered. She grabbed the shuttle fleeing into
the Phase Triangle ahead of the Skecksies sent to capture her.
The clone had been captured by the Underground alliance of Spider Queens.
But she had been recaptured by Cylon's troops.
It was Cylon's pride as well as cruelty that allowed her enough
consciousness to know what was happening now. She was aware of the
exodus. Aware that he had sent his human agents after Wanderer and Night
Wolf.
The fact that this planet only had one Portal to the Galactic Freeway
allowed him to use it undetected for so long. But she had plans to change
all that, even if it cost her, her own life. She had to do anything she
could to undo the destruction she'd naively released into the Universes.
She had no way to mark the passage of time, and only bits and pieces of
information filtered in to her. The most disturbing was that Cylon had
succeeded in creating a Loki Shifter whom he was using to move things
around. The Loki had taken the image of a Delphinian and risen to the
leadership of the Raider Bandits. Also he was the transportation for the
Janet Riggs Clones. One in particular had gotten close to Ruby, the Rogue
Queen. The two working closely together in another Parallel separate from
the others.
But she had no idea what Ruby's plans were. Ruby and Cylon had parted
ways after she'd failed to secure all the Ancients. She'd known that Ruby
had her own plans for conquest. But she had been cut off from First home.
The Dragon and Unicorn had seen to that. Further they had set the Drider
Races to guard the Freeway Entrances.
She knew that Cylon was using his ability to predict Solar Flares to mask
the comings and goings of the Loki Ships.
Then she'd heard him discussing Night Wolf and his plans to extract the
information he needed from her. But he was distracted by Wanderers
continued presence and her involvement with a group called Bravo Command.
He'd been Vexed by the young Phase Spider Queen Leila's interference with
his plans to create Cloned armies of Alpha's, Delta's and Echoes. She'd
interfered with one test group, and coerced an agent of Janet Riggs to
steal three samples. Samples which he used at separate stages. Also there
were other groups in those Cylon was using who had created their own
Sleeper Alpha's. She almost achieved a smiled when he began ranting about
Leila stealing the locations and identities of those sleepers.
She was able to see his monitor screens from her stasis chamber, the
leader of the group involved with the Wanderer she recognized instantly
as one of those lost Alphas.
When Mag, Cylon's second wife informed him that they were ready to begin
dissecting Night Wolf, she made her last escape. Triggering the hidden
jumper, she jumped to the chamber with the child. Then jumped out again
using images she'd picked from the child's mind. Images of a trucking
family that Wanderer had been watching after discovering that one of the
leaders, was one of those lost Alpha Clones. She jumped them to a point
last seen in the girl's mind, as three of the trucks were going past.
Mag and Deka were reading the images from the girls mind still, by using
a tracker, and it was almost too late when she found the tracker after
she'd jumped with her. The incoming Delphi Raider Scout triggered the
avalanche that probably saved Night Wolfs life. But she'd been caught
before she could destroy the tracker a few more anonymous jumps away.
She'd gladly endured the pain of the torture, as they tried to find where
Night Wolf was hidden. The silent tears rolled down her cheeks when she
discovered that Wanderer had brought another Portal to Earth. If she
followed standard protocol the portal would be placed on the South Pole,
and Cylon would be discovered the moment it was activated.
She'd listened for weeks on end as Cylon destroyed almost every living
being he could reach after the Bio-Ships had stripped the planet of
everything that could be used to achieve his goals. Further he couldn't
send his agents into the new territories. Nor could he afford for a Loki
or Skecksies to get anywhere near the Portal.

Cylon had been going on for days now. He was in one his rages, the IGP
had discovered the secret labs after the American CIA had lost a
Terrellian Truck they'd been keeping for thirty years. The planet was now
crawling with the huge Transports opening up those facilities. Further
the new Phase Spider Queens had become involved after finding the Loki
Fugitives that he had allowed the humans to study. He'd been using their
own research to create Nokie Doru, his Delphinian Shifter.
She'd found she could link with certain of the computers keeping her in
stasis. And so long as she didn't try to turn them off she could link to
others outside. Maybe it was a result of two millennia of being connected
to them, she had no idea. But now she discovered a new Computer searching
for information.
That computers name was Shimmer. Even more important, Shimmer knew the
location of the Princess' Bodyguards, Iridani Five, First Home. The one
place she'd given up hopes of ever seeing again.
Now knowing where they were, she was able to reach out briefly with her
mind to touch that of the one named Layla. But before she could do much
Cylon had begun another Bloody Rant, he was growing unstable, his Agent,
Nokie Doru, had been captured and then killed while his Raiders were
trying to gain access to Saturn Max where he hoped to rescue the Janet
Riggs clone loyal to Ruby, who had been captured by Chief Tracker Jarrell
as she fled New Arachnia.
Brushing the mind of that computer she sent her own information, her
current location. Then closed her eyes saying a silent prayer that Gypsy
and Galaxia still lived, but truth be told, she would rather die than
endure Cylon's wrath again should he escape.

In the early stages of the war, Galaxia had stayed only long enough to
receive the children of the Ancients. Then she had turned toward
unexplored space, Gypsy and her Armies fighting a holding action to give
her time to escape.
It had been her heart broken determination to find a safe place that had
caused her to continue on rather than answer the calls of her own
children. Children who had lived a life of Peace, but now lived a life of
war and destruction almost as great as that of the Loki and the Hives
Loyal to Ruby.
No she simply continued on, here and there seeding a planet with
intelligent life. Leaving clues to find the rest. Avoiding contact with
even Gypsy whom she'd been especially fond of. How could she bear to face
them, knowing that they were no longer innocent to the ways of violence.
She wept tears for the lost innocence, for death and destruction by both
sides. Sure they'd had to deal with violent races before. But now those
the Ancients had created were warring among themselves seeking to control
or destroy them, that was what had pushed her past the point of not
returning when Hub sent out the calls.
Still the Road Builders placed in Wanderers charge continued to spread
out into the unknown even as the War destroyed those who had created
them, drawn by the pull of intelligent life, they extended the freeway in
all directions. She pushed farther out into the unexplored regions to
avoid them as well, with no set destination, herself wandering ever
deeper into the unknown, farther from those she'd known since the
beginning of remembered time.
