Derek pulled up to the parking lot outside his office on Monday morning.

perfume. Cathy had nothing. She was fishing.
Feeling a little bolder, he said, "Is something wrong Cathy?" She stared
back at him for a moment more. Then, she looked away and sighed. "I'm
missing a red folder. It was on my desk before the holiday. It was
invaluable."
"Oh," he said. "Oh indeed," she continued, "So far, nobody seems to know
anything about it. But never mind, I'll find out who took it. And when I
do, that person will wish they had never been born." Derek swallowed
again. "Well, good luck to you. Let me know if I can help in any way. Was
there anything else?"
"No, that's it," she replied. He turned around and walked out the door,
imagining a pair of blue eyes burning holes in his back. He went back to
his cubicle and sat down. He took a few deep breaths to compose himself.
He had probably taken the red folder home that night by accident. He
should just look through the box. But he couldn't rush home without
rousing suspicion. Better to just carry on with his routine. He settled
down and threw himself into his work with his usual enthusiasm.
Meanwhile, back in the closed office, Cathy sat back with a faraway look
in her blue eyes. The little runt was definitely hiding something. She
thought she smelt a bit of women's perfume on him. He had also seemed a
little more nervous than usual. But he couldn't possibly have the balls
to sneak into her office and steal things could he? No, she decided,
better safe than sorry. She picked up her phone and dialed a number.
"This is Lenny," a reedy voice answered. "Lenny dear, I have a little
problem that needs solving...." Somethings you just didn't take risks
with.
