Vacation is tough, but when you have multiple screaming kids begging to
do something "fun" it gets to you fast. It's even worse when the weather
is rough and you can't leave home due to snow and ice. You have to get
creative, which at times means you have to put aside your feelings and
suck it up for the greater good of everyone.
When you are dealing with a group of young girls who want to do their
own thing and force you to do as they like things get rough. Especially
when those girls want a fancy tea party and won't do it without everyone
dressed up.
Literally dressed up, as in dresses, makeup, hair styled, jewelry worn.
For their fathers, it was like being asked to trade in their "Man Card"
but knowing their daughters as well as they do it meant the group having
multiple angry little girls screaming and crying until they gave in.
And those girls knew how to put on a show to ensure they got their way,
complete with tantrums and tears and begging looks that even the
toughest father couldn't say no to. No matter how much they tried to
fight it, they couldn't say no to their daughters' requests. Not if they
wanted to sleep that night in their own bed as the girls would ensure
they stayed up all night thanks to secret candy stashes and a lot of
caffeinated sodas.
The guys gave in and let their daughters go to work, giving them all the
time they needed to get their little bit of fun out of their system
while awaiting their mothers' return. It seemed like days, but in
reality it was only two hours. Two long, cringe-inducing hours.
The girls finally tired of their makeup and showed them off to one
another. Each giggled as they saw the masculine men reduced to whining
babies as they complained about itchy cheeks and eye pokes. It was a
tough go for all of them, but the alternative was a group of crying
banshees who would surely tell their wives that they were being mean to
them for refusing.
The girls did their best but they looked like clowns. Their lips were
exaggerated, their eyelashes stuck together, their eyelids sporting
bright colors, and their eyebrows put in an arc making them look like
they had a perpetual shocked expression.
None of the guys said anything, it was too much to fathom. They swore
that they'd never speak of it again, with the girls' smiling faces
showing that it wouldn't be the last time they underwent this shock.
The girls grew bored again and wanted to do something more fun: playing
dress-up. This meant putting on fancy dresses and other things, with
each choosing something from the closet to wear while giving advice to
the others.
They each had fancy dresses on, then begged their fathers to join them.
They gave them their best "I'm a sad little girl" expression and again
wore down their fathers. When it wasn't working, they tried logic. They
were already wearing makeup, this was just another step in the girls'
fun.
Again they worked hard to wear down their fathers, getting them to try
on four dresses that showed off way too much leg while making them put
on bras to fill out their bodices as well as make them look more like
women. All but one fought the dresses, the fourth put his on without a
fight and helped the other dads get their bras right before showing
their look off for the girls.
None of the three asked how he knew. It was his daughter who was doing
the most pleading and getting the girls to egg them on. They didn't ask
why he knew, only let him help them so they could get it over with
before their wives returned.
When the girls brought out high heels the four tried hard to refuse but
again, they were putty to the girls and gave in when they pouted. The
heels were tough to deal with but they endured, only falling down twice
as they walked from the master bedroom to the living room. Their feet
were killing them, but the look that their daughters gave them made
their hearts melt.
The girls were adamant that they have a tea party, with the guys each
drinking juice and cookies while pretending that it was real tea and
special cakes and sandwiches. It wasn't half bad, the guys got into it
while the girls smiled to one another.
They were so busy playing tea party that they never noticed the ladies
returning home. The girls were all smiles while their husbands were in a
state of shock. They tried to say something but the words weren't coming
out.
Their wives burst into laughter while the girls begged their mothers for
forgiveness. Their mothers just grinned, told them playtime was over and
it was time for dinner. The girls went off and removed their dresses and
makeup, with each snickering to one another as they recalled the day in
their own minds.
Downstairs, their wives shook their heads. The trio tried to say
something while the fourth looked down in shame.
His wife offered a soothing "she really loves being your daughter. She
had six years as a boy, she just can't help but make others want to join
in on her true self. Besides, she doesn't get to play with her aunt that
often."
He blushed deeply while his friends gasped in shock. His wife smirked
then pointed out "she loves to make him dress up with her. Why do you
think he was so handy with the bras? Those aren't my dresses and bras-
those are his."
Their wives laughed at their reactions, with one adding "it takes a real
man to put aside his masculinity for the sake of his daughter's
happiness. Besides, you three don't look half bad."
A third added "a little shave of the legs, some more practice with your
makeup, and some better fitting clothes and you'd make a great woman. I
can't say that I like your shoe choice, I'd have gone with a lower heel
but those are definitely your color."
The ladies laughed at their discomfort while they walked off in shame.
Their daughters were happy and they did enjoy knowing that they were
more of a man than anyone they knew. It was the toughest day they ever
had as fathers, but seeing the four smiling faces made it worthwhile.
The trio just hoped that they wouldn't have another one for a long time,
that makeup really was itchy!
