The slaves are released from their cells, and guided outside to freedom.
Scene 13: Karyn in a counselor’s office. All of the released slaves have been briefed on the charges that have been laid against their captors, and questioned regarding the details. They are then being assisted to find a new life outside. The counselor is a lady social worker, trying to be of assistance.
Karyn:
What am I going to do now?
Counselor:
What were you doing before you were kidnapped? Didn’t you want to be anything?
Karyn:
Nothing. I had no one. I did nothing. I was nothing.
Karyn bursts into tears, and the counselor attempts to console her.
Scene 14: Karyn walks into her tiny, run-down apartment. She is tired and frustrated after a day of searching for any dead-end job. She finds two men in her room. She is uncertain how they got in past the lock. One is a distinguished gentleman in a 3 piece suit, sitting on her bed. The other is a tall muscular man, with a stern look on his face. Clearly the tall man works for gentleman, and he stands attentively by the door. They are waiting for her. The distinguished gentleman, Mr. Krupp, pats the bed next to him, motioning for Karyn to join him. Karyn nervously goes to the bed and sits down as directed.
Mr. Krupp:
Karyn, do you recognize the number 34672?
Karyn is at first puzzled that this man knows her name. Who is this man? She then ponders the number he mentioned. In a flash of memory, she sees the number on her slave collar.
