May 20, 1986, Chicago, Illinois

“We stink!” Elyse said, wrinkling her nose.

“What do you expect?” I chuckled. “I came four times, you came at least twenty, and we were sweaty when we fell asleep!”

“We haven’t done that in a long, long time,” she said.

“That’s been by your choice! For the last year or so you’ve just asked me to make love to you, and usually only once.”

“Yeah, I know. And that’s what I want tonight. But last night I just had this urge to get fucked senseless, and you’re the guy to do that! Let’s change the sheets and open a window. And then we NEED a shower!”

Elyse turned on the shower and we got in, holding each other tight under the warm spray.

“So what’s the deal with our baby?” I asked.

“I don’t want him born before June, so I figure we start around September 1st. I want to quit taking my pills for a couple of months beforehand, so as much as I hate to say it, we’ll use rubbers starting in July. I’ll work out a plan with Jessica and Kara so that I don’t monopolize you too much!”

I laughed, “Jennifer’s solution was just fucking each other silly morning and night for a week!”

“That seemed to work, but you weren’t married then, you big oaf!”

“True!” I said, taking the soap to begin washing Elyse’s back.

“And the second one would be about two years after the first, so I’d get pregnant the second time in September or October of ‘88. And I guess at that point, you and I are done.”

“With sex, perhaps, but not with each other. We’re going to have a couple of kids and you plan to stay here at least for the time being.”

“I do. I’ll probably move out at some point. As much as I like living with you, I want to live in the suburbs eventually. The city just isn’t for me.”

“There are a lot of good ‘burbs here. I just want to make sure I don’t lose touch with my kids.”

“You won’t. I know you well enough!”

I soaped her firm butt and teased her by running a finger between her cheeks. She laughed.

“You think that’s funny?” I teased.

“I was just thinking that we haven’t done THAT in years. Not since I gave up on the toys.”

“You’ve moved on from all that stuff and become very conventional,” I said.

“Is that a code word for boring, Mister Adams?”

“No way! You know exactly what I like. It’s the same thing I’ve always liked.”

She nodded, “True. You only did those things because we girls asked, or, in Jackie’s case, to make a point!”

“All you have to do is ask, Elyse,” I said.

“I know. But let’s not ruin the moment. I like you washing me like this.”

I took my time and made sure I soaped every inch of Elyse’s skin, and then helped her rinse off. Then she did the same for me, expressing her deep love for me as she carefully ran her hands and the soap over my body. After I rinsed off, she shut off the water and we grabbed towels and dried ourselves. I kissed her, and went back to my room to dress for the day.

“Hey big brother,” Stephanie greeted me when I came into the kitchen.

“Hey Squirt. Ready for breakfast?” I asked.

“You bet!”

I made bacon, eggs, and waffles for Stephanie, Elyse, and Sofia, and the four of us sat together to eat.

“Are your parents coming to visit, Sofia?” I asked.

“In July, when they have their vacation. They’re flying to Chicago and they’ll stay here for a week or so, then we’re going to New York for a few days, and then Florida for a week.”

“Disney World?” Elyse asked.

“Of course!” Sofia said. “And the beach, too. I really haven’t seen much of the US, and it’ll be fun to be with them.”

“Is Frederick coming with them?” I asked.

“He is. It’ll be good to see them. They’re still trying to get used to the idea that I’m not going back to Sweden except perhaps for the occasional vacation.”

“You really like it here?” Stephanie asked.

“Absolutely. And honestly, I can make in a year here what it would take five years to make in Sweden, and I’ll pay lower taxes to boot!”

“Ah, the Greek businesswoman in you comes out!” I teased.

“Hey, my grandfather always wanted my dad to come to America, but he followed my mom to Sweden. So, I’m bringing the family here!”

“How are things with you and Stavros?” Stephanie asked.

“Good. We get along really well, and he’s a nice guy. He’s a philosophy major and an English minor. He wants to teach college, so he’ll start on his Master’s in the fall.”

“Elyse, before I forget, the Reds are in town next Monday and Tuesday. Monday is Memorial Day, so we’ll never get tickets, but Tuesday we can get seats for sure.”

“You’re going to play hooky from work?” she grinned.

“Sure. Jess is going to be here, so I was already going to alter my work schedule to spend time with her.”

“Just you and me?” she asked.

“Anyone who wants to go. Worst case, we can get bleacher seats on the day of the game. I’ll ask Jess and Kara on Friday.”

“It’ll be good to go to a baseball game!” Elyse said.

We finished breakfast, and Elyse, Stephanie, and I went to find Julia so we could talk about how we were going to handle the summer. Elyse and Stephanie would take over doing all the administrative work, leaving Julia to focus on clients, and to spend some time programming. Neither Elyse nor Stephanie would need to work full-time, but even part-time would take a load off Julia’s shoulders that she was handling out of necessity.

“I arranged both interviews for tomorrow,” Julia said. “One in the morning and one in the afternoon. Also, the ‘800’ number is active as of today. Our problem will be that we’ll need more phone lines soon.”

“Call the phone company and set it up,” I said. “We’ll have to have some wiring done, because there are only four pairs of wires that come up to the attic.”

“Rather than doing stuff here that would be wasted in the long-run, maybe we should consider office space after all,” Elyse said. “What did Mr. Wyatt suggest?”

“He suggested the near west side. There are some old factory buildings that are being converted to offices and condos. We could get a loft with about 3,000 square feet that would easily accommodate all of us and have room for growth. It’s an easy drive or we could take the El or the bus. The prices are reasonable since it’s outside the Loop.

“The problem is how much it would cost to outfit the space. It’s bare brick walls and bare cement floors. He’s estimating several thousand dollars just to get it up to snuff for office space and an occupancy permit. I asked about other options, and he said there are places in Hyde Park that would be easier for us to use, but the cost per square foot would be a lot higher. I just don’t think we’re ready for that yet.”

“I was afraid that was the case,” Elyse said. “Given our income, we could probably swing it, but if anything at all went wrong, we’d be in deep trouble with a long-term lease. So I guess it’s premature.”

“The other option is the suburbs,” I said. “We could get some really nice space without spending a lot of money, but it would be the commute from hell for all of us to go there every day.”

“So we stay,” Julia said. “I’ll call the phone company.”

May 21, 1986, Chicago, Illinois

“What did you think?” Julia asked, following the afternoon interview.

“No objection to either one,” I said. “It’s up to Cindi.”

“I think Zeke is the better choice,” Cindi said.

I chuckled, “He sure made it clear that he does not like the name Jethro! I guess he got teased a little too much about the Beverly Hillbillies. And I guess the nickname works for him. Like I said - no objection to either one.”

“I’ll call him and make the offer tonight,” Julia said. “He can start June 9th, which is good timing. We can get him up to speed before Mario flies out to install the software at Ford, Jackson, and Finch in Los Angeles.”

“Charlie’s been fielding two or three support calls per day,” I said. “Zeke won’t be super-busy at first, so maybe we can have him work on revising some of the documentation.”

“I already thought of that!” Cindi said. “Of course, it’s almost summer so we can throw more work Jorge’s way. He’s sticking around all summer and asked me about it. I think he can do the new stuff and Zeke can revise the stuff we already have.”

“Sounds like you have it under control,” I said. “I’m going to get to work; I have quite a bit to do before I head to Ohio tomorrow.”

May 22, 1986, Cincinnati, Ohio

“What time do you need your sister tomorrow?” my dad asked as we sat down for lunch.

“If you could have her at Carew Tower at noon, that would be perfect,” I said. “We’ll eat lunch on the way out of town.”

Stephanie shot me a dirty look. She didn’t want to stay at my parents’ house, but she really didn’t have a choice.

“I’ll do that,” he said.

We ordered our lunch and my dad, Joyce, and I talked about the business. I included Mario in the conversation by asking him to talk about some of our key customers and the new business that he and Cindi were working on. We now had ten full-time employees, counting Zeke, and we were profitable. Everyone but me was earning a normal salary, and I’d increased mine slightly.

“Your plan was to be profitable with five employees by the end of the first year, so I’d say that you’re way ahead of schedule,” Joyce said.

“True, but remember, the Waukesha deal is only for eighteen months. On the plus side, because Tom is working in Waukesha, our new guy, Zeke, will do the support for Purina Mills and he’s a lot cheaper, so that contract instantly becomes more profitable. That said, we can’t let up on our business development. We really need to get the medical software out.”

“When do you think it will be ready?” my dad asked.

“Penny comes back to work in a week, and between her, Charlie, and me, we’re on target for a beta release by the end of the summer. Once that’s out, we’ll have three different markets - legal, medical, and construction. We also do Novell support, which is bringing in a bit of money as well. All in all, I’m happy.”

“How are your expansion efforts going?” Joyce asked.

“Milwaukee is good, but we don’t have much in St. Louis or Indianapolis yet. Mario’s cold-calling and sending flyers to get leads. Hopefully we’ll get this deal with Volstead and Braun, where Mr. van Hoek is a partner, and we’ll get referrals from them here. Obviously, we’re hoping for the same thing with Ford, Jackson, and Finch in Los Angeles.”

When lunch was finished, I said goodbye to my dad, and then Mario and I headed for Colerain Township to Donna Grossi’s house. She greeted us, and invited us in for coffee. Joyce wanted to spend some time with me, so she joined us. When we finished our coffee, Donna Grossi showed Mario to the guest house and Joyce and I went to sit in the back yard. A few minutes later, Mario came out in his swim trunks and jumped into the pool.

“Do you remember that first day here?” Joyce asked.

“June of 1977,” I said. “You, your sister, plus your cousins! I remember splashing the four of you. And flirting with you!”

“It’s hard to believe that we’ve known each other for nearly nine years! So much has happened since then. I remember you impressing Grandfather with your bocce skills.”

I nodded, “Who knew that being taught that game by my dad’s friend Ken Dugan in California would lead all the way here?”

“Anthony called me,” Joyce said. “He’s pissed beyond belief.”

“That doesn’t surprise me,” I said. “Chicago doesn’t respect him. Your grandfather did business with them as a partner and friend. Anthony is trying to use muscle and they think he’s a joke.”

“Promise me that you won’t get too deeply involved and that you won’t cause trouble for Anthony.”

“As long as Anthony leaves me, my family, and Becky alone, then there’s nothing to worry about. Tell him to stick to Cincinnati and not use muscle the way he’s threatening. I don’t want to cause you any trouble, and I don’t want to cause him any trouble. I just want the deal with your grandfather to remain intact. If Anthony backs down, I don’t have to get involved in Chicago.”

Joyce sighed, “I don’t think that he’ll back down. He’s a hothead. But, he’s afraid of Chicago, which is probably enough to keep him from bothering you or anyone you care about. But I’m not sure.”

“OK,” I sighed. “I’m seeing Becky tonight when I have dinner with Ben van Hoek.”

“How is she?”

“I haven’t talked to her since August, and I didn’t ask her dad about her when we arranged dinner. I’m actually not completely sure that she’ll be there, but I can’t imagine that she’d pass up a chance to see me. Last I heard was that she was finishing her student teaching in Madeira. She ought to have her license by now.”

“You still care for her, don’t you?”

“As a human being? Of course. As someone that I once loved? Certainly. But I don’t know that Becky can handle even a simple friendship with me, even now. That was my last mistake - thinking that she and I could be friends. By the time I figured out that she couldn’t handle it, it was too late.”

“So what are you going to do?”

“Have dinner. And tell her that I’m married.”

“She doesn’t know?” Joyce asked.

“The last time I talked to her or her dad was the afternoon before Dave and Julia’s wedding, and at that moment, I thought Bethany and I were on a path to get married. You know what happened that night. Well, I talked to him to arrange dinner tonight, but that’s all we talked about.”

“Do you think she can handle it?”

“I have no idea, but she needs to know.”

“I do NOT envy you,” Joyce said. “Will this cause problems for our business deal?”

“No. Her dad knows everything about Becky and me, and knows how things went south. He won’t make an issue of it.”

“Just tread lightly.”

“It’ll be fine. Should we go swimming?”

“You could help me into my suit!” Joyce teased.

“I thought you were going to ask permission when we hit our numbers years from now!” I chuckled.

“Your wives are NEVER going to allow that, and you know it!”

“You might be surprised!” I said.

“Let’s swim before I decide to call and ask and get us both in serious trouble!”

We both changed, separately, and jumped into the pool with Mario. We spent about an hour horsing around like we had that first summer before I had to get out so I could shower and dress for my dinner with the van Hoeks.

“Hi, Steve!” Becky said when she opened the door.

“Hi! How are you?”

“Good. Daddy said it was OK if we played chess before dinner. Is that OK?”

“Sure,” I agreed.

We went to her father’s study where the chess board was set up, with two bottles of Dr Pepper on the table next to it. Becky offered me the white pieces so I sat down in the chair next to them and she sat down opposite me. We began playing, and I waited for an opportunity to tell her about everything that had happened since I last saw her. I should have realized that she would see the obvious evidence.

“I think you need to explain the rings,” she said after shifting her knight on her third move.

“I got married in December,” I said.

She nodded, “I knew that would eventually happen. Bethany?”

I shook my head, “No. You remember I was going to a wedding after I left your house last August, right?”

“Yes. But you and Bethany were ready to get engaged! What happened?”

“That night, after that wedding, she told me that another guy had proposed to her and that she was going to accept his proposal.”

“What?!” she gasped in protest. “That makes no sense!”

I had to tread carefully because I didn’t want Becky to feel that I blamed her for my relationship with Bethany falling apart. I didn’t - I was the one who had cheated, and I should have resisted Becky’s advances no matter how I was feeling. I’d failed, and paid the price for it.

“I know. But a long sequence of events led to Bethany feeling that she couldn’t be my wife. It’s complicated and I can’t really go into it in detail, but she ended up not marrying the guy after all.”

“But you didn’t take her back?”

I sighed, “As I said, it was complicated. That really wasn’t a possibility for several reasons. The core issue was one that couldn’t be overcome.”

“It can’t be Jennifer, because you said she has a girl for a partner. Karin?”

I shook my head, “No. You won’t guess, because it’s a girl you don’t know about. And that’s just the ring on my left hand.”

“OK. I’ll stop guessing. Who did you marry?”

“A medical student named Jessica Wilton from Indianapolis. She’s in her third year now. The ring on my right hand has two rubies and a spinel. The spinel is me. The rubies are for Jessica and Kara.”

Loosening Up Book 6 SituationsChapter 16 Expansions

The following Friday evening Dave was tending bar with Jake, Sharon, and Candy helping and even delivering drinks and shuttling hors d’oeuvres that Chef Bobbie had made to various tables full of Circle members and friends. He had gone inside to get another case of Coronas when he heard a cheer and loud shouts from almost everyone on the patio. Something had happened outside that had inspired a great welcome. Dave carried the carton out to the bar, and set it down. There was a cluster of...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 5 MichelleChapter 78 Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous Part II

May 15, 1992, Glencoe, Illinois “Join me in my study, if you would,” Noel Spurgeon said when we finished our dessert. It had been an interesting evening. Samantha and I had talked for a bit before we’d been summoned to dinner. The meal had been prepared by a chef and was served by a white-coated young man. Again, this was a far cry from Lois at the van Hoeks’ house. What wasn’t a far cry was the fact that I was having dinner with a man who knew I was going to be sleeping with his daughter...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 7 SakurakoChapter 57 Land of the Rising Sun Part III

June 23, 1994, Oguni, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan My first week in Japan flew by, and a routine developed. Sakurako would wake me; I’d exercise and run, then shower and have breakfast, and share tea with Sakurako. After breakfast, I’d meditate, and then have my training session. After lunch, I’d work in the garden, or, as I had this day, wash the floors in the house. Hiroshi would accompany me back to the cottage and we’d talk while I washed up and dressed for dinner. After dinner, I’d spend...

Lucky Jim 1FirehairChapter 12 Gold and Expansion

Gold and Expansion Jun 10, 1858 In the morning, not wanting to leave two women and two infants alone and unprotected on the ranch, I took them into town with me, intending to put them up at a hotel in the room next to mine. The desk clerk and I both blushed when Vivian stated adamantly that the constable had awarded me everything, including them. They had no intention of staying anywhere but with me. Instead, I got one room with the biggest bed they had available. They knew the bank their...

June 15, 1994, Chicago, Illinois “That’s everything, I think,” I said. “My luggage is in the trunk of the car, I have my passport, tickets, and money, both dollars and yen. I can’t think of anything else.” “I’ll see you in five weeks,” Elyse said, giving me a quick hug. “Did you see they rioted in Vancouver last night because they lost the Stanley Cup?” I chuckled, “Only Canadians would riot when they LOSE the Cup! I did see that on the front page of the Trib. Are we ready?” “Michelle and...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 5 Housemates

August 1981, Chicago, Illinois On Sunday morning, I made my usual call to Karin. I described everything in the apartment and all the things I’d done during the week, including the reception. Both of us would start school in a week and we were both looking forward to it. When we finished talking, I went out for my run, showered, and ate breakfast. I made some tea, started a load of laundry, and then turned on the stereo. I put on an REO Speedwagon album and then relaxed on the couch with the...

August 21, 1989, Chicago, Illinois “Unbelievable,” I said when I read the headline from the Chicago Tribune. “It says here that Solidarity activist Tadeusz Mazowiecki was nominated to be Prime Minister of Poland.” I hadn’t had a chance to read the paper on Sunday because it hadn’t been delivered before we left for the race track in Michigan. “So now what?” Kara asked. “We’re in totally uncharted territory. Your guess is as good as anyone’s right about now.” “Steve, do you have a minute?”...

A WellLived Life Book 8 StephieChapter 36 My Lifes Journey

July, 1983, Chicago, Illinois I woke up early on the First of July, because my body clock was still set to Swedish time. The flight back had been long but uneventful, and I was happy that the businessman in the seat next to me hadn’t wanted to talk. I read, wrote some longhand journal entries, ate, and generally relaxed while the plane zipped over the Atlantic. I’d come home, taken a sauna, eaten a light meal, and gone straight to bed, not bothering to check messages, look at the mail that...

A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 4 Calm Before the Storm

June 1977 When I got home, I grabbed a Coke and some chips and went right to my room. I didn’t think I could deal with my parents or Jeff or Stephanie. I just needed to be by myself. That wouldn’t seem odd to anyone, because I often went to my room to read. In addition, I now had the TV I’d received for my birthday. I flipped it on to WXIX Channel 19 and reruns of Gilligan’s Island and Green Acres played in the background while I read. I had to get my mind clear for the final exams that...

July, 1982, Milford, Ohio I woke up early on Friday morning to make breakfast for Kara and her mom before she went to work. Mrs. Blanchard was surprised, but very pleased. After her mom left for work, Kara gave me a fierce kiss. “Thanks for staying in and cooking breakfast for us,” Kara said. “I hope that doesn’t cause you trouble with Stephanie, with you breaking your normal routine.” “Don’t worry about it,” I said, kissing her back. “We got in a bit later than I expected, and she’ll...

July, 1983, Chicago, Illinois After Rosie left, I stripped the sheets from my bed, as well as the cover of the duvet, and tossed everything into the washing machine. I lit a lavender candle in the room, and then swept and dusted. I did a quick spot-check of the rest of the house and noticed that the tub in the sauna needed to be cleaned. I scrubbed it, then mopped the sauna floor with a damp sponge mop. I finished cleaning the sauna about the time the washing machine finished, so I moved...

March 25, 2000, Chicago, Illinois “What time do I need to have you home?” “8:00pm will be fine,” Misty replied. “My parents are in Normal visiting my brother at Illinois State. They aren’t supposed to be home before 10:00pm.” Misty and I were in my car on the way to the NIKA apartment which, fortunately, was not being used. Loosening Up Book 4 RevelationsChapter 12 Expansion

Dave arrived home from work a little on the early side. He strolled out onto the patio rather than going directly in to change his clothes. He saw the couple and smiled to himself. Elise lay on her back on one of the chaises. She only wore a tiny thong that did little to hide her nudity. Dev was massaging suntan lotion or oil of some kind into her body. He was nearly naked as well wearing a very small bathing suit that was really a sack to hold his jewels, and he was already oiled up. Dev’s...

A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 7 Setting the Course of My Life

June 1977 Friday ended up being a non-event. The more I thought about it, the more I was sure that there was no way on this earth I could say what happened between Birgit and me was a sin. Calling it a sin would debase it into a meaningless act. I could never do that. And the more I thought about Jennie McGrath, the more sure I was that I couldn’t call what she did for me a sin, either. If the church was right, I was going to hell. And frankly, there was no way that could be true. So I...

“So, how should we do these Stone’s songs?” Phil asked at our rehearsal session. “I think we all know the music, we just need to come up with a pretty awesome arrangement; we don’t want to sound like yet another cheap cover band.” “I had some ideas, if it’s okay for me to make some suggestions,” Allison said. “Of course it is,” Phil said. “Everyone can have a say, there’s no rule that says you can’t participate in the discussion.” “Thanks, Phil, I guess being the newest here, I’m a bit...

May 11, 1992, Chicago, Illinois Monday was turning out to be a LONG day. After my run and talk with Gina, and my talk with Elyse, I had a full day at the office scheduled. January 19, 1989, En-Route from LAX to ORD When the engines of the plane started, Jeri reached over and took my hand. She held it while we pushed away from the gate, and taxied for takeoff. Her grip tightened a bit as we hurtled down the runway, but nothing like the death grip she’d had on my arm for the flight out. The plane roared its way into the air and once we leveled out, Jeri’s grip loosened but she didn’t let go of my hand. “How are you doing?” I asked with a touch of...

A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 34 Old Routines and New Ideas

September 1982, Chicago, Illinois The weekend was quiet and besides homework, I worked on the program changes for Frank, called Karin, Tatyana, and Kara, and hung out with my usual study group. Monday was refreshingly normal. On Tuesday morning, I handed Katy my completed intake form. She put it in an envelope and stuck it in her bag. She said she’d let me know soon about the interview. On Tuesday afternoon, after having lunch with Stephie, I made my rounds and then I headed over to Sigma...

A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 35 An Interview and Some New Friends

October 1982, Chicago, Illinois The drive back to Chicago was as uneventful as usual, and I arrived at the apartment just before 6:00pm. When I arrived, Elyse and Stephie were sitting on the couch and Jackie was sitting on the loveseat. Stephie hopped up as I opened the door and greeted me with a hug and a kiss. “Hi, Peaches!” I said. “Glad you’re home, Yankee!” “Hi, Steve,” Elyse and Jackie both said. “Hey,” I replied. “How was the weekend?” “Well, it was just Kurt with me, Stephie,...

BE Breast Expansion

This story is a public hub for members of CHYOA to post whatever breast expansion (BE) focused scenarios that they don't want to put in a stand-alone story and/or doesn't fit in another story! BE is a fetish that focuses on breast growth. The exact method and rate will depend entirely on the individual author of the BE story. The result is that each individual story/route in this CHYOA will vary greatly in terms of tone, setting, and secondary kinks. We thus have a template that will help you...

Mcdonald EnterprisesChapter 4 Expansion

"OK Rick, start the meeting and tell me where we are going", I said looking around the table. I knew everyone at the table except for one girl that was in her 30's, dressed in a nice business suit, she had a nice body. "With our planned expansion in mind I have brought our new personnel Manager Julie Smyth, Julie has looked over all of our top people and has come up with 5 candidates that she feels would make good managers and I agree with her recommendations", Rick explained. "Now...

DominionChapter 14 Expansion

When the undead swept across the land, electricity was quickly lost nationwide as the power plants were abandoned. Automation softened the blow, many stations capable of operating for days, weeks, or even months without human labor. As time passed, the lights went out one by one, but in some rare cases, they’d turn back on. In times of disaster, it’s natural for humans to search each other out, for both resources and strength in numbers. Power plants, built to withstand wars and natural...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 3 JessicaChapter 52 Lifestyle Choices

June 11, 1989, Chicago, Illinois It was just after 3:00am when I kissed Trish goodbye. She’d been an enthusiastic, energetic, and adventurous lover. We’d done just about anything either of us could think of, though her breasts weren’t large enough for a tit-fuck. The last time had been in the shower where we’d ostensibly gone to clean up afterwards, but instead I ended up taking her from behind as she leaned against the wall of the shower. “I think I’ll have you again, Steve Adams,” she...

A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 38 Freshman Year Ends

May 1978 The first couple of weeks in May were busy with school, work, and friends. Except for Becky, I didn’t even have any dates. But I was OK with that. Well, almost OK. I wanted to see Anna, but it likely wasn’t going to happen until school was out. I had tutoring sessions with Melanie, but she still wouldn’t talk to me about anything other than Spanish. Barely a hello. I was grateful for the tutoring, but it was maddening seeing my friend this way. I hoped someday she could understand...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 44 Spring Break 1982 Part I

March, 1982, Milford, Ohio As I drove along I-65, I thought about what Stephanie had asked for and what Bethany had said without even knowing about the request. Of course, because Bethany and I were so in tune, she might have actually had an idea that I was struggling with getting involved with my sister again. I kept turning it over and over in my mind and I kept coming to the same conclusion — that I shouldn’t do it. I was torn between doing what Stephanie wanted and doing what Kara and...

September 7, 1992, Chicago, Illinois “That went reasonably well,” Michelle said when her parents drove off. “There were a few times I thought my expression would give away something I shouldn’t. You were messing with me, weren’t you?” She grabbed both my hands and smiled, “I was telling the truth, in my own way. Thank you!” She leaned forward and kissed my cheek. “So, what’s left?” I asked. “To visit UofC tomorrow and formally withdraw from classes. To spend some time with you and your...

October 1981, Chicago, Illinois I arrived back at the apartment just before 10:00pm and saw the address for the party. I decided I wasn’t particularly interested in going so I put on some music, poured myself a glass of wine, and started reading more about Russia. I was alternating between the history and culture book and the Communist Party book, decided on the history and culture book for this time. I didn’t get much reading done because I was thinking about Tatyana, which led me to...

January 23, 1996, Chicago, Illinois “Father, bless!” I said, greeting Father Basil with upturned palms. “Bless you, Stephen,” he said as I kissed his hand. The waiter showed us to a quiet table along the wall of Roditys in Greektown. He took our drink orders and was back quickly. We placed our food orders right away and he left to put them in with the kitchen. “I’m not quite sure how to address this, so I’m just going to ask you bluntly. Are you the father of Michelle’s baby?” I shook my...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 8 NIKAChapter 68 The Rules

June 29, 1995, Chicago, Illinois On Thursday, I finally had lunch with Melissa again, something I hadn’t been looking forward to. Much like with Cèlia, Melissa and I had passed an inflection point and I was left with sub-optimal paths forward. I’d been struggling with the possible solutions, and all of them had pitfalls. When I walked into Takumi, I had something of a plan. Whether it was good or not would only be known once everything played out. “I spoke to my wives,” I said after we’d...

December 5, 2000, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota “I had a good time last night,” I said. “I was surprised you invited a friend!” Mary laughed as we walked into the exam room, “Naomi had a good time as well. You know what a Resident’s life is like.” I nodded, “No social life.” “Exactly. A WellLived Life Book 3 PiaChapter 25 The Puzzle and the Cat Part II

March 1980, Hovås/Göteborg, Sweden I woke early as usual, but just enjoyed being in bed with Katt. When she woke, she hopped out of bed and pulled a robe out of her closet and handed it to me. “There’s a spare toothbrush in the bathroom. Go have your shower, then we’ll have breakfast after I have my shower.” I quickly showered and brushed my teeth, and went back to Katt’s room. She went to shower and came back a few minutes later. She dressed, and I got a very good look at her sexy body...

We’ll have some family time this afternoon. I don’t have any plans.” “Good!” I hugged her and the rest of the kids, then went to find Kara. September 3, 1989, Chicago, Illinois “Good morning, Sensei,” I said, bowing to Sensei Jim. “Good morning!” he said waving me to a chair in his office. “How was your trip?” I asked. “Enlightening. I spent most of my time acting as a manservant to Sensei Robert and Sensei Hiro.” “He who will lead, must first serve,” I said. “Someday, I’m going to send you to Sensei Hiro, should he live long enough. A WellLived Life Book 8 StephieChapter 61 Anala Part II

August, 1983, Chicago, Illinois I walked in the near 90°F heat to Carla’s place. I was grateful that the humidity of the morning had dropped significantly; otherwise the heat would have been unbearable. By the time I walked up the steps to the apartment over the photography studio and knocked on her door, I had broken into a light sweat. Carla answered almost immediately and invited me inside her studio apartment. The air was moderately cool, and the window air conditioner was running full...

July 1982, Milford, Ohio On Tuesday morning, I kissed Kara goodbye and headed to my parents’ house for my usual morning routine with my little sister. She was happy that I could spend the morning with her and asked to take a walk, so we weren’t in the house with my mom. “Let me guess — this walk will end in the clearing,” I said with a smile. “Yes,” she said, taking my hand as we walked down Overlook towards Klondyke. March 13, 1994, Chicago, Illinois “Hi, Steve!” Ailea said when she opened the door. “Hi,” I replied, accepting the offered hug. There was no touching of lips, just of cheeks, and I wondered if I’d misread her intentions at her birthday lunch, or if, perhaps, she detected my reluctance to return the offered affection. “Lunch is ready, so go ahead and sit. I’ll bring it in from the kitchen.” I went to the low table, sat down, and a minute later, Ailea brought miso soup and sushi, our usual...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 10 BridgetChapter 72 An Explosive Discovery

April 3, 1997, Dallas, Texas “Remember what I said about drinking too much,” I said, as I poured bourbon into three cups. We’d stopped at a liquor store, bought a bottle of Blanton’s, and then returned to the small suite I’d reserved at the Westin. Deborah’s room was down the hall, and Krissy’s was two floors below. Krissy’s comment had caught me a bit off guard, but I hadn’t reacted visibly. I didn’t know her quite well enough to know if she’d been teasing with Deborah, so I was being...

September 1, 1987, Chicago, Illinois “I heard that you have some kind of plan to help Ed,” I said to Connie. “There’s no plan,” she replied. “A witness who saw the shopkeeper alive after Ed left came forward.” That sounded convenient, and I wondered if the witness was real or someone that Anthony had put forward to solve the problem. August 17, 1997, Chicago, Illinois We finished lunch and Marissa and the younger kids went to play, but Natalie sat with the adults to talk, with coffee, tea, or soft drinks. The Sarcus were very comfortable, but the Heaths were still struggling. July 1979 — Falkenberg, Sweden On Friday, when I got back from my run, Pam was in her bra and panties again. I whistled at her, she giggled, then finished dressing. I showered, and we went to breakfast and finished up our last day. Once class was done, we were pretty much free. November 8, 1993, Chicago, Illinois A dark fog swirled before my eyes as I tried to take stock. My head hurt, badly. I felt something on my face and realized, dimly, it was an oxygen mask. My right hand was uncomfortable and I recognized the feeling of an IV and pulse-oximeter. My left arm ached fiercely. On my chest I felt the pads and wires of an EKG. I didn’t feel anything else wrong as I continued taking inventory. I tried to open my eyes, but the fog didn’t clear. I tried to speak, but...

August, 1983, Chicago, Illinois In the morning Anala and I ran as we had the previous time, then showered together, carefully washing each other’s bodies in an intimate but non-sexual way. After our shower we went to the kitchen and I made breakfast and we sat down to eat. “Steve, may I make a suggestion?” she asked. “Sure.” “Broaden your circle of friends. May 1979 The limo dropped me at home about 9:00pm. I took my stuff to my room, stripped, and hung up the tux. The rest of the things went into the hamper. I took a shower, put on shorts and a t-shirt, and walked down the hall into my dad’s office.
