“It just seems wrong to not have Jessica here,” Kara said.

“I know,” I sighed. “But the sooner she went into the facility, the sooner she’ll get out. And then she starts the long process of getting reinstated at UofC.”

“Do you think she’ll work when she gets out?”

“Maybe. It all depends on her. If we assume she’s there for six to eight weeks, which Al said was pretty typical, she won’t get out of there until February. The next year for her Residency would start in June. That doesn’t leave a lot of time to work. We’ll just have to see.”

“Are we OK financially?”

“It’ll be a bit tight because I’m making payments on Jessica’s loans and whatever payments we need to make for her treatment, but we’ll be fine. The biggest expense is the mortgage payment to my dad, and you know that the rent everyone pays covers that. I don’t have a car payment. I have sufficient savings to tide us over if need be. Jess was saving some money as well, though that appears to be mostly depleted. We didn’t need her income, so losing it isn’t a big deal. Don’t forget that NIKA is going to buy some of my stock for the ESOP as well.”

“Yes, but we had that money planned for the kids’ college fund.”

“True, but if we need to use it for expenses, we’ll have to bite the bullet and do that.”

“Should we put up the year ornament?” Kara asked.

“Yes. Jess is here in spirit, and in our hearts. I think she’d be unhappy if we didn’t do it. We’re all still married, and that is a major accomplishment given everything that’s happened in the past three months.”

“Very true,” Kara said.

She got the ornament from a box, and hung it on the tree.

“There!” she said with a smirk. “Now, come make love to me under our tree!”

“What about the Pumpkin?” I asked.

“She’s snoozed. Next year we’ll probably need to foist her off on someone, but even if she wakes up, she’s too little to know what we’re doing!”

“She is my daughter, you know!” I chuckled.

“And mine!” Kara giggled. “So she’s going to be sex-crazed. We’ll deal with that in about thirteen or fourteen years! Now, get over here!”

I took off my clothes as Kara did the same and I went over to where she was by the small tree in our room.

“Thanks for not being upset about the lack of Christmas presents,” I said.

“You were totally preoccupied, Snuggle Bear. And the girls took care of everything for us - the tree, gifts for the kids, planning the meals. I’m just happy to have you here with me. You know that’s all I need! Now, shut up and make love to me!”

December 25, 1988, Chicago, Illinois

“Thanks for buying Matthew’s gifts,” I said quietly to Elyse as he ripped open his presents.

“You had other things on your mind. Between Leila, Alejandra, Stephanie, and Jennifer, we have everything covered. Jorge is helping cook today. All you need to do is enjoy your family when we go downstairs after our private Christmas.”

“You know, he’d be happy with empty boxes, right?” I chuckled as Matthew put an empty box on his head.

“Right?” Elyse laughed. “Are we going to intermix the BRIO track with Jesse’s?”

“I think you should mark Matthew’s pieces so that they can be reclaimed from HRH if Matthew wants to play alone. Otherwise, it’ll just be added to Prince Jesse the First’s royal treasures.”

“He’s a real brat at times, isn’t he?” Elyse smirked. “Just like his dad!”

“Wait ‘til he starts collecting women like his dad!” I grinned.

“Collecting?” she said in mock outrage. “Is THAT what I am? A part of your collection?”

“If the shoe fits...” I chuckled as Elyse smacked me.

“Mama hit Dada! Bad!” Matthew scolded. “We don’t hit!”

Elyse and I both broke up laughing.

“Sounds like Veronica talking,” Elyse said.

“She’s had quite the influence on all of the kids, though she and Jesse are in a constant battle of the wills and wits.”

“You’ve been remarkably well behaved with a cute, young redhead with small tits in the house!” Elyse teased. “And don’t give me the employer/employee bullshit. That went out the window with Kimmy!”

“Kimmy is a special circumstance,” I said. “I’m not going to make a habit of it.”

“Tasha,” Elyse said.

“Over and done with. And never to be repeated. She’s with Zeke and I’d say that’s likely to turn permanent at some point, just like Penny and Terry. I’m sure you’ve seen those four together.”

“I have. They’re inseparable. Speaking of Penny, how is she dealing with you spending so much time with Jeri?”

“Jealous as hell,” I chuckled. “Do you know that she actually asked me if I was fucking Jeri? I mean, I get why Penny would ask that, but of all the people on this planet that I could never see having sex, it’s Jeri. She’d vapor lock at even the THOUGHT of being naked in front of someone. She’s going to be the proverbial ‘cat lady’ with 100 cats living in her house and never even have had a boyfriend.”

“It sure seems like that, doesn’t it?” Elyse said with a grin. “Maybe the trip to Los Angeles and the presentation will broaden her horizons a bit beyond Kenwood and Hyde Park.”

“Don’t count on it,” I said. “I have a suspicion that she’s going to basically freeze up and retreat into her shell at Ford, Jackson, and Finch. But Barbara, Cynthia, and Andy will be there with me. I’ll give them a demo the day before so that they’re up to speed.”

“Did you like your presents, Matthew?” Elyse asked our son.

“Yes! Train! Like Jesse! And hat like Dada!”

“Whose idea was the miniature fedora?” I chuckled.

“Alejandra’s!”

“I’ll have to thank her for that idea. He loves it!”

“Ready to head downstairs? Family Christmas is in about twenty minutes.”

“Let’s go,” I said.

We gathered up Matthew and went downstairs to wait for everyone to gather in the great room around the tree. Jennifer and Josie had celebrated their Christmas with Jesse, though I didn’t know for sure what my sister and Jorge had done. Alejandra was at Trent’s house with his family, because she had decided not to fly home, and Leila was a Muslim so she had no reason to go home for Christmas. I hoped that somebody remembered to get her a gift from me.

As it turned out, between Jennifer, Stephanie, and Elyse, they had it all covered. I did my best not to show surprise at the gift I was ‘giving’ to everyone, but I was fairly sure that everyone except the kids knew what had happened. When we finished opening presents, Stephanie and Jorge disappeared into the kitchen to start on dinner, and the rest of us traipsed to the basement for a sauna.

Matthew and Birgit could only stay a few minutes, and Jesse only a few minutes more than them. Jennifer volunteered to take them out. It was nice to relax, but I missed Jessica. Not having her with us for Christmas sucked, but as I’d discussed with Kara, it made sense to handle it the way we were.

“What time are your mom and Paul coming tomorrow?” I asked.

“Around noon,” Kara said. “I think Elyse’s parents will be here around then as well. Are your mom and dad still coming?”

“Yes. We talked about it, but there’s no reason for them not to come see their grandkids. Jennifer told me that her parents are flying in as well, and Josie’s will drive down on Tuesday.”

“We’re going to have a full house!” Leila said. “Do you have to work all week?”

“I took last week off, so yes, except tomorrow, which is our company holiday. But the grandparents are coming to see the kids, not me!”

“Where is everyone staying?” she asked.

“Hotels in the city. Mine and Kara’s are at the InterContinental. I’m not sure where the others are.”

“Sheraton for my folks and Jennifer’s,” Josie said.

“Same for mine,” Elyse said. “They tried for the InterContinental but it was full.”

“Are we going out at all?” Kara asked.

“I guess that depends on each set of grandparents. Personally, with karate and work, I’d rather we ate at home. You, Stephanie, Leila, Alejandra, and Veronica are here, so I think having dinner in makes sense. We’ll just take stock each day of who’s here. You can do some shopping if necessary.”

“Sounds like a plan, and sounds like we’ll be busy!” Kara laughed. “Is the dojo open tomorrow?”

“Yes. And I’ll be running with Jacquelyn, though I’m pretty sure they leave for Pennsylvania tomorrow morning. I haven’t talked to her, so I’m not sure. She was running at the Y by herself all week.”

“She asked about you,” Stephanie said. “But I didn’t tell her anything other than that you were in Michigan like you planned.”

“She doesn’t need to know,” I said. “Let’s keep what’s going on here just within the family, so to speak. I’ll make sure that the people close to me at work know privately, and Sensei Jim. But it doesn’t need to get spread beyond that. I’m sure it’ll leak out, but we’ll deal with it when it happens.”

“I am sorry about that, big brother.”

“Forget it, Squirt. It’s water under the bridge at this point.”

“So what happens now that you’re cleared?” she asked.

“I’ll talk to Gwen on Tuesday. Her best guess was that they would try to challenge the results somehow because even Gwen didn’t believe them. If the chain of custody is good, then the best they could do is challenge the lab procedure. They could also ask for a second test, but they’d have to pay for it out of pocket. I paid for this one because I demanded it and I wasn’t about to fight over the cost.”

“So if the test is confirmed, you’re home free?” Leila asked.

“No. That’s the stupid part. The test has ‘probative value’ and the judge has to weigh all the evidence. Illinois law doesn’t make the DNA test conclusive, but it is the proverbial 800-pound gorilla. Gwen says it’s pretty tough to overcome because my name isn’t on the birth certificate and Carla and I never lived together, nor were we married.”

“These DNA tests are better than 99.99% conclusive!” Leila protested.

“Which is not 100%. I didn’t see the full test results, but Gwen said that there were no markers that the baby has that match me that Carla doesn’t also have. Somebody provided that other DNA, and it wasn’t me. Well, supposedly there are some real anomalous cases, but it would be a stretch for her to get child support. The science is pretty conclusive, though not perfect.”

“Wait, so if she had put your name on the birth certificate, that would override the test?” Josie asked.

“The way Gwen explained it, that’s actually a conclusive fact according to Illinois law. I could challenge it, and the DNA test would help, but being named on the birth certificate, like a child being born when you’re married, is considered conclusive proof of parenthood. That would put the onus on me to prove I’m not the father. Which the DNA test would help do.”

“Wow,” Josie said.

“Imagine how it was back before DNA tests,” I said. “Then it was blood-typing. And that only knocks out about 30% of possible fathers unless you have a rare blood type.”

“So what next?” Stephanie asked.

“We wait. Mostly nothing will happen until after New Year’s. Gwen will file a motion for adjudication in my favor. They’ll likely file their challenge to the test. Then we’ll fight it out. What’s strange, and what still bothers me, is that Carla has to know if there is another possible father. If there is, then she could go after him. If there isn’t, then what? The Virgin Mary? Something just doesn’t add up.”

“She’s lying. It has to be.”

“OK. That worked until the DNA test results come back. If she drops the suit or doesn’t fight a ruling in my favor, I’d say you were right. If she fights, why?”

Nobody had an answer to that question, and I sure didn’t know. As far as I was concerned, the only person who knew for sure was Carla. We all got out of the sauna and after showers, Stephanie and Jorge went back to the kitchen while the rest of us watched the kids play with their new toys. Just after 3:00pm the phone rang.

“Hi, Tiger,” Jessica said. “Can you get Kara on the phone, too?”

“Hi!” I said. “Sure!”

I called Kara to my study and put the phone on speaker. I had her close the door when she came in.

“She’s here,” I said.

“Merry Christmas, you two! I love you both!”

“We love you, too!” Kara and I said together, as we’d planned.

“How was Christmas?” Jessica asked.

“Chaotic as usual,” I said. “With all the kids around, it’s just going to get worse. How are you?”

“OK, I guess. I miss you two. I wish I could have been there with you.”

“We do, too, Babe. But we want you to get healthy.”

“I had a complete physical and saw an OB, too. They don’t normally have pregnant women here, but Doctor Barton convinced them to take me. Both the staff physician and the consulting OB say they think everything is OK, but obviously, we won’t know for sure for a while. I did gain a pound already.”

“Just listen to your doctors,” I said. “All of them.”

“I know,” she sighed. “We have a lot to talk about. And when I get home, too.”

“You worry about completing the program there,” Kara said. “We have the rest of our lives together.”

“I’m going to run out of time. I love you guys. I’ll write you a letter!”

“I love you so much, Jess,” I said.

“I love you,” Kara said.

“Bye Tiger. Bye Kara.”

“Bye,” Kara and I both said.

The phone clicked and the line went dead. I pressed the button on the phone to turn off the speaker, and Kara came and sat in my lap. We held each other for a good fifteen minutes before we rejoined the others.

December 26, 1988, Chicago, Illinois

My alarm went off at ten minutes before 5:00am, which gave me time to dress and make it over to Jacquelyn’s house. Kara got out of bed and checked on Birgit who was fast asleep.

“Snuggle Bear, will you answer a question for me, honestly?”

“Don’t I always?” I asked.

“I think I asked the wrong question. Will you tell me what you’ve been doing?”

“Doing?”

“We had an agreement. I don’t think you’ve kept it.”

I sat down on the loveseat and patted it. She came and sat down next to me.

“You’re talking about dalliances?”

“Yes. I’m not angry with you. You’ve been under a lot of stress and I think you were looking for a way to alleviate it.”

“Don’t make excuses for me, Kara. Please.”

“Sorry. But that is why you were out messing around. All you had to do was tell me. That was our agreement. Of course, I didn’t specify when you had to tell me, just that you had to tell me.”

“Kara, come on. Please don’t justify my bad behavior. One of them is simple. I gave Jody Pancook her tumble. That seems to have been a one-off. Two others are a bit more difficult. Hope Baxter.”

A WellLived Life 2 Book 6 SamanthaChapter 36 Christmas Greetings

December 19, 1992, Chicago, Illinois “I was surprised when you knocked on my door last night,” Samantha said on Saturday morning. “Jessica insisted.” “Your wife, whom you took to a party, while wearing that amazing tux, sent you to my bed? I almost don’t believe it!” “Yes, she did. Because it was Friday.” “But all we did was cuddle and sleep in each other’s arms.” “You snuggled close and fell back asleep,” I chuckled. “And that’s fine.” “You could have woken me up!” she...

A WellLived Life Book 2 JenniferChapter 40 Christmas Break Part I

December 1978 The last week of school before Christmas break flew by. The only thing of note was someone joined our lunch table. A girl named Sarah Leonard, who had transferred to Milford this year when her family moved from New York because her dad worked for GE and was transferred. I had seen her around the school, but she appeared to be shy, quiet, and reserved. She was about an inch shorter than me, had long, straight brown hair, and a cute face. She dressed in very loose-fitting...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 6 SamanthaChapter 40 Carolines Confessions

January 9, 1993, Chicago, Illinois “Uncle Steve, are you staying?” Nicholas asked. “Yes,” I said. “Your mom invited me to stay tonight.” “Will you tuck me in?” I glanced over to Bethany who nodded. “Of course!” I said, getting up. He kissed and hugged his mom, then I took him to his room, and helped him into bed. At his request I read Ten Apples Up On Top to him. When I finished the book, I kissed his forehead, turned off the light, and then went back to the living room. I sat down on...

The Strawberry Patch Book 3 Life On The SavannahChapter 30 Christmas Part 4

After the kids went to bed, we went to the apartment above the garage and brought down their presents. We got them all set out and were sitting in the family room with the only lights coming from the tree. Lynn stood and kissed me. “Good night Lover. I’ll see you in the morning.” “Me too Sweetie, I think Lynn needs me to give her some TLC like we did in the old days.” Erin waggled her eyebrows. “I guess that means that Blossom and I are going to stay down here for a while and talk. Raw Confessions

RawConfessions! If you think I only ever review websites that have smut on them, you’re dead wrong. You might be disappointed to see me reviewing Raw Confessions, but I’m playing the long game here. I’ve already covered thousands of high-quality porn sites and branched out into gaming and VR shit, so I figured I should cast a wide net across forums as well, especially if there’s potential for smut down the line. Currently, Raw Confessions is an adult confessions forum. That much should be clear...

Father Leary Hears More Private Confessions

Father Lester finished his last confession early. There were no more high school kids waiting except for two who always waited for Father Leary. Lester went to the rectory meaning to stop by Father Leary's office to pick up some papers that Leary had asked him to look at for him. When the thirty year old priest entered the outer office he noticed a pretty young girl sitting patiently on a bench. "Good afternoon Father Lester." Young Jill Ebber said with a sweet smile on her face. "Good...

Christmas Gifts Book II

Back in 1998 I wrote and posted a five part story to the TGFiction List. It was called A Fan Letter and it wound up being posted on Fictionmania under the title Revenge of the Real Girls. The following year I wrote a sort of sequel titled Christmas Gifts - Book II. I found it by accident and felt it should be shared, even though some of the authors who it was intended to honor may not be able to read it this time around. It follows below in its entirety. The following is my gift...

A WellLived Life Book 2 JenniferChapter 41 Christmas Break Part II

December 1978 On Friday, Stephanie and I did our usual morning routine and then I worked on the programs for Doctor Grossi. I had figured out how to make the connections between the pets and the owners and was working on a way to create invoices. I was confident that we’d have it working well enough for him to test it by the end of January. Joyce arrived to pick me up at 5:00pm for our date. We deviated from our usual pattern in that we didn’t make love before she cooked and we ate....

Crack Whore Confessions

Heard any good Crack Whore Confessions lately? I guess that might depend on if you’re the kind of guy who gets his rocks off safely to the sexy girls of the Internet or if you’re the kind of guy who risks infections and robberies getting a piece over on the sketchy part of town. Hey, I’ve been there before. Sometimes when you’re hard up, the girls who hang out around the hourly motels start looking a hell of a lot more attractive. I’ll tell you this much: they’re even sexier when it’s your...

Loosening Up Book 8 Decade Remembered Decade StartedChapter 27 Christmas An Ultimate Present from His Wives

Everyone in the Circle started to skulk around in the weeks before Christmas. Rose wrote a computer program to randomly assign Secret Santas. It took Circle members and pledges and matched them up in some way with somebody else. Each member knew who they were buying for, but they weren’t suppose to reveal who they were to the gift recipient. Also, gifts were supposed to be under a hundred dollars. The program also made sure not to match up family members, partners, or spouses. Also, members...

The Strawberry Patch Book 3 Life On The SavannahChapter 27 Christmas Part 1

The first family tradition that we had established when we first got our foursome together, was that we put up our Christmas tree on Christmas Eve, with the intent of taking it down on New Years Day. This went back you my youth in Wisconsin, we would go out and cut down our tree and drag it home. The air in our house was so dry and lacking in humidity that the tree would dry out to the point where it could spontaneously combust. However, that was not the case here in Boise. Yes, we had dry...

Over the Hills and Faraway Book 4 Soldiering OnChapter 6 A Christmas Story

The flight back to the UK was uneventful, other than that Harry Ledbetter wasn't on board the plane. Captain Miles Shepard had turned up at the airport with my leave pass and my movement orders, and informed me that Harry was doing the rounds of the embassies, talking to military and political attachés about the Somalia situation. Harry was going to stay in Nairobi over the Christmas period, in case any other developments occurred in Somalia. I hoped he managed to evade the clutches of...

Father Learys Private Confessions

Normally Thursday afternoon confessions were something Father Leary disliked. All those high school teenagers confessing the same sins every week, but this Thursday the priest was in a splendid mood and was more lenient than usual when doling out penance. He was in a good mood because he expected young Jill Ebber this Thursday to give penance in the good Father's private office as she had done last week. The fifteen year old had allowed the priest to spank her on her cute rounded bare bottom...

I spent most of the Twelve Days of Christmas of 1818 in bed – and before you leap to conclusions I was not being gripped firmly between Caroline's thighs but in the equally firm grip of an ague. I had set out for Bearsted on a frigid and bitterly cold morning, the day before Christmas Eve. By the time I changed horses at Swanley I was as ice – and then the rain started. I reached Ashford House soaking wet and frozen to the marrow. A hot toddy, a seat by a roaring fire and Caroline drying me...

June 23, 1994, Oguni, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan My first week in Japan flew by, and a routine developed. Sakurako would wake me; I’d exercise and run, then shower and have breakfast, and share tea with Sakurako. After breakfast, I’d meditate, and then have my training session. After lunch, I’d work in the garden, or, as I had this day, wash the floors in the house. Hiroshi would accompany me back to the cottage and we’d talk while I washed up and dressed for dinner. Anal Confessions

Hello, all! I’m going to try something different. From my various times posting older stories on different platforms, I used to get confessions in my inbox from girls and guys who wanted to tell their personal stories, and have me post them. Well, over time I collected quite a few. Some were long, and some were only a few sentences. But, they let me take creative license and write short “Confessions” using their little stories, and then post them. I’m sure this has already been done, but I’m...

Dance of a LifetimeChapter 29 First Christmas

"I'm dreaming of a White Christmas..." Warren was crooning. "Well quit dreaming, because you got one." Peg laughed, as she pointed out the window at the lightly falling snow. It was Christmas morning, and the Kelleher family was gathered around the tree, opening presents. There were a couple of inches of snow on the ground, and it was still falling. It was a perfect New England Christmas morning. A car pulled up in front of the house, as Peg was looking out the window. "Here comes...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 3 JessicaChapter 63 Back to Work

August 21, 1989, Chicago, Illinois “Unbelievable,” I said when I read the headline from the Chicago Tribune. “It says here that Solidarity activist Tadeusz Mazowiecki was nominated to be Prime Minister of Poland.” I hadn’t had a chance to read the paper on Sunday because it hadn’t been delivered before we left for the race track in Michigan. “So now what?” Kara asked. “We’re in totally uncharted territory. Your guess is as good as anyone’s right about now.” “Steve, do you have a minute?”...

A WellLived Life Book 8 StephieChapter 36 My Lifes Journey

July, 1983, Chicago, Illinois I woke up early on the First of July, because my body clock was still set to Swedish time. The flight back had been long but uneventful, and I was happy that the businessman in the seat next to me hadn’t wanted to talk. I read, wrote some longhand journal entries, ate, and generally relaxed while the plane zipped over the Atlantic. I’d come home, taken a sauna, eaten a light meal, and gone straight to bed, not bothering to check messages, look at the mail that...

A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 4 Calm Before the Storm

June 1977 When I got home, I grabbed a Coke and some chips and went right to my room. I didn’t think I could deal with my parents or Jeff or Stephanie. I just needed to be by myself. That wouldn’t seem odd to anyone, because I often went to my room to read. In addition, I now had the TV I’d received for my birthday. I flipped it on to WXIX Channel 19 and reruns of Gilligan’s Island and Green Acres played in the background while I read. I had to get my mind clear for the final exams that...

A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 20 The Winds of Change

July, 1982, Milford, Ohio I woke up early on Friday morning to make breakfast for Kara and her mom before she went to work. Mrs. Blanchard was surprised, but very pleased. After her mom left for work, Kara gave me a fierce kiss. “Thanks for staying in and cooking breakfast for us,” Kara said. “I hope that doesn’t cause you trouble with Stephanie, with you breaking your normal routine.” “Don’t worry about it,” I said, kissing her back. “We got in a bit later than I expected, and she’ll...

A WellLived Life Book 8 StephieChapter 38 Jennifer

July, 1983, Chicago, Illinois After Rosie left, I stripped the sheets from my bed, as well as the cover of the duvet, and tossed everything into the washing machine. I lit a lavender candle in the room, and then swept and dusted. I did a quick spot-check of the rest of the house and noticed that the tub in the sauna needed to be cleaned. I scrubbed it, then mopped the sauna floor with a damp sponge mop. I finished cleaning the sauna about the time the washing machine finished, so I moved...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 4 ElyseChapter 64 Pull the Other One

May 26, 1991, Iron Mountain, Michigan “Shall we see if we can find a farm?” I asked at breakfast on Sunday morning. “That sounds like a great idea,” Jessica said. “There’s a visitor’s bureau in town,” Kara said. “I saw it when we were here the first time.” “I’m sorry I ruined that vacation,” Jessica said. “Ruined?” I protested. “Are you kidding? Getting you back was way more important than a few days of vacation!” “I agree,” Kara added. “Jess, you know exactly how bad off Steve was...

The Best Christmas Of My Life

I don't know whether it has ever happened to you, but just occasionally I meet a girl who for some reason completely takes your breath away. She has such an effect on you that you can hardly sleep at night and you spend all your spare time just thinking about her and longing to get to know her. This story is just about the way I met the most important woman in my life. It was during the year before that fateful yet wonderful Christmas that I became increasingly aware of Linda. The time I...

A WellLived Life Book 9 AnalaChapter 59 New Friends

August, 1984, Chicago, Illinois The rest of the week proceeded as expected - class on Wednesday, as well as the usual visit from Penny, work on Thursday, and class on Friday. Kara and I had lunch together at IIT, Sofia practiced her driving and parking, and I hung out with Mark Agnini after class for beers. Staci and I got into a couple of interesting debates about the Old Testament that Mark had to break up to allow others in the class to participate. She was very much of the ‘directly...

Victorias Punishment Part II Forced Confessions

Victoria walked down the hallway of Assumption Catholic High School away from her history classroom, where her teacher, Mr. O, had just minutes ago given her a spanking. And for some crazy reason, she had agreed to allow it. At first, it seemed like a viable way out of her problem. If Mr. O reported to the main office that she was about to be given a third detention, Victoria would have received an automatic one-day school suspension. And, for many reasons, that was just not an option for a...

A WellLived Life 3 Book 1 SuzanneChapter 7 Reaching the Peak

March 25, 2000, Chicago, Illinois “What time do I need to have you home?” “8:00pm will be fine,” Misty replied. “My parents are in Normal visiting my brother at Illinois State. They aren’t supposed to be home before 10:00pm.” Misty and I were in my car on the way to the NIKA apartment which, fortunately, was not being used. With our expansion, it was in more or less regular use, and that meant I didn’t have access to it as often as I would have liked. I was glad there had been a delay in...

January 17, 1989, Chicago, Illinois “What time do you have to leave this morning?” Kara asked as we showered together on Tuesday morning. “About 8:30am,” I said. “I’m driving over to get Jeri, then heading to O’Hare. We have an 11:00am flight. Assuming all goes well, we’ll be in the office by 3:00pm Pacific time. We’ll spend a couple hours going over the software then go to dinner. The demo is tomorrow. Our flight back on Thursday leaves LA at 11:00am, so we’ll be home by 8:00pm, I...

The Three Signs Book 2 LoriChapter 21 Concerts and Christmas

At the rehearsal on Saturday afternoon, everyone wanted to know how our Canberra concerts went. The others laughed when Megan told everyone about the young girl grabbing and kissing me; I was asked if I snuck her up to the room for some more activities after the main show had finished. “She might have responded to a private showing,” Bruce said. “Fuck off, she was fourteen, if that,” I said. “I have to draw the line somewhere.” “You could have drawn a line across her fourteen year old...

Young Life of White TigerChapter 21 Christmas

Chapter 21: Christmas I aced all my end of semester exams as you would expect. There were a lot of stressed out students, everyone was more than happy for the holidays to arrive. I hadn’t attended the Christmas dance, and Chloe had persuaded her parents that another boy was good enough to take her, so he had been allowed to take her to the dance. Chloe had informed me that they were just going to the dance as friends. She emphasized they wouldn’t be dating. But since he was one from the...

A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 7 Setting the Course of My Life

June 1977 Friday ended up being a non-event. The more I thought about it, the more I was sure that there was no way on this earth I could say what happened between Birgit and me was a sin. Calling it a sin would debase it into a meaningless act. I could never do that. And the more I thought about Jennie McGrath, the more sure I was that I couldn’t call what she did for me a sin, either. If the church was right, I was going to hell. And frankly, there was no way that could be true. So I...

A WellLived Life 3 Book 1 SuzanneChapter 32 Still Together

July 22, 2000, Chicago, Illinois “Albert, do you have everything packed?” Mom asked. “Yes, Mom!” I replied, rolling my eyes because she’d asked before I went to bed. “He’ll be fine, Babe,” Dad said. “Let’s walk to the hospital.” I usually didn’t get up early, but Dad had suggested it would help Mom if I walked to the hospital with her because I was leaving to see Jane for three weeks. Mom, Dad, Aunt Kara and I left the house and headed down the sidewalk towards the hospital where Mom and...

May 14, 1997, Chicago, Illinois “Start talking!” Melanie demanded when I sat down in her office about an hour later. “There isn’t much to say. Katya found the information for me when I asked her to look into several things about Brandon Littleton, Kevin Lomax, and John Milton.” “Do you know more about him?” “A LOT more. I don’t think you want to know.” “Probably not, but I’m your criminal defense attorney, and even though San Antonio doesn’t have you involved in this, you know the CPD...

“So, how should we do these Stone’s songs?” Phil asked at our rehearsal session. “I think we all know the music, we just need to come up with a pretty awesome arrangement; we don’t want to sound like yet another cheap cover band.” “I had some ideas, if it’s okay for me to make some suggestions,” Allison said. “Of course it is,” Phil said. “Everyone can have a say, there’s no rule that says you can’t participate in the discussion.” “Thanks, Phil, I guess being the newest here, I’m a bit...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 5 MichelleChapter 77 Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous Part I

May 11, 1992, Chicago, Illinois Monday was turning out to be a LONG day. After my run and talk with Gina, and my talk with Elyse, I had a full day at the office scheduled. First was our leadership meeting in the morning, and then I had status meetings with each team. At lunch I’d gone to see Siobhán and explained that I was going to break off the sexual relationship, but that I wanted to remain friends. She was disappointed, but admitted that Thursday would have been the last time, since she...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 3 JessicaChapter 23 So Now You Turn Back Into Diana Prince

January 19, 1989, En-Route from LAX to ORD When the engines of the plane started, Jeri reached over and took my hand. She held it while we pushed away from the gate, and taxied for takeoff. Her grip tightened a bit as we hurtled down the runway, but nothing like the death grip she’d had on my arm for the flight out. The plane roared its way into the air and once we leveled out, Jeri’s grip loosened but she didn’t let go of my hand. “How are you doing?” I asked with a touch of...

A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 34 Old Routines and New Ideas

September 1982, Chicago, Illinois The weekend was quiet and besides homework, I worked on the program changes for Frank, called Karin, Tatyana, and Kara, and hung out with my usual study group. Monday was refreshingly normal. On Tuesday morning, I handed Katy my completed intake form. She put it in an envelope and stuck it in her bag. She said she’d let me know soon about the interview. On Tuesday afternoon, after having lunch with Stephie, I made my rounds and then I headed over to Sigma...

October 1982, Chicago, Illinois The drive back to Chicago was as uneventful as usual, and I arrived at the apartment just before 6:00pm. When I arrived, Elyse and Stephie were sitting on the couch and Jackie was sitting on the loveseat. Stephie hopped up as I opened the door and greeted me with a hug and a kiss. “Hi, Peaches!” I said. “Glad you’re home, Yankee!” “Hi, Steve,” Elyse and Jackie both said. “Hey,” I replied. “How was the weekend?” “Well, it was just Kurt with me, Stephie,...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 3 JessicaChapter 52 Lifestyle Choices

June 11, 1989, Chicago, Illinois It was just after 3:00am when I kissed Trish goodbye. She’d been an enthusiastic, energetic, and adventurous lover. We’d done just about anything either of us could think of, though her breasts weren’t large enough for a tit-fuck. The last time had been in the shower where we’d ostensibly gone to clean up afterwards, but instead I ended up taking her from behind as she leaned against the wall of the shower. “I think I’ll have you again, Steve Adams,” she...

A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 38 Freshman Year Ends

May 1978 The first couple of weeks in May were busy with school, work, and friends. Except for Becky, I didn’t even have any dates. But I was OK with that. Well, almost OK. I wanted to see Anna, but it likely wasn’t going to happen until school was out. I had tutoring sessions with Melanie, but she still wouldn’t talk to me about anything other than Spanish. Barely a hello. I was grateful for the tutoring, but it was maddening seeing my friend this way. I hoped someday she could understand...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 44 Spring Break 1982 Part I

March, 1982, Milford, Ohio As I drove along I-65, I thought about what Stephanie had asked for and what Bethany had said without even knowing about the request. Of course, because Bethany and I were so in tune, she might have actually had an idea that I was struggling with getting involved with my sister again. I kept turning it over and over in my mind and I kept coming to the same conclusion — that I shouldn’t do it. I was torn between doing what Stephanie wanted and doing what Kara and...

September 7, 1992, Chicago, Illinois “That went reasonably well,” Michelle said when her parents drove off. “There were a few times I thought my expression would give away something I shouldn’t. You were messing with me, weren’t you?” She grabbed both my hands and smiled, “I was telling the truth, in my own way. Thank you!” She leaned forward and kissed my cheek. “So, what’s left?” I asked. “To visit UofC tomorrow and formally withdraw from classes. To spend some time with you and your...

October 1981, Chicago, Illinois I arrived back at the apartment just before 10:00pm and saw the address for the party. I decided I wasn’t particularly interested in going so I put on some music, poured myself a glass of wine, and started reading more about Russia. I was alternating between the history and culture book and the Communist Party book, decided on the history and culture book for this time. I didn’t get much reading done because I was thinking about Tatyana, which led me to...

January 23, 1996, Chicago, Illinois “Father, bless!” I said, greeting Father Basil with upturned palms. “Bless you, Stephen,” he said as I kissed his hand. The waiter showed us to a quiet table along the wall of Roditys in Greektown. He took our drink orders and was back quickly. We placed our food orders right away and he left to put them in with the kitchen. “I’m not quite sure how to address this, so I’m just going to ask you bluntly. Are you the father of Michelle’s baby?” I shook my...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 8 NIKAChapter 68 The Rules

June 29, 1995, Chicago, Illinois On Thursday, I finally had lunch with Melissa again, something I hadn’t been looking forward to. Much like with Cèlia, Melissa and I had passed an inflection point and I was left with sub-optimal paths forward. I’d been struggling with the possible solutions, and all of them had pitfalls. When I walked into Takumi, I had something of a plan. Whether it was good or not would only be known once everything played out. “I spoke to my wives,” I said after we’d...

December 5, 2000, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota “I had a good time last night,” I said. “I was surprised you invited a friend!” Mary laughed as we walked into the exam room, “Naomi had a good time as well. You know what a Resident’s life is like.” I nodded, “No social life.” “Exactly. En France The Confessions

Fizzy energy rippled through my body, I wanted to leave my desk, get out, and just walk.  Staring at my screen, flashbacks of last night pestered my restless mind.  Aggravated by the industrious silence, constrained by cream walls and utilitarian furniture, I had to escape.  Anne-Pierre liked games and last night was her best one yet.  Almost two weeks, five encounters, I thought I had the measure of her; then came the sucker punch. Sat in my office chair, weary muscles pleaded for freedom. ...

Confessions

"Confession time!" I announced as I passed the bottle of wine my girlfriends and I were working on. "I wanna hear all about your deepest, darkest confessions! Make me forget that bastard that cheated on me!" I knocked back my third glass of wine and reached for the bottle after Nikki passed it back to me. All of the women sitting around the fire started to giggle and point fingers to one another, trying to get someone to confess. "Oh, all right, said Shana. "I'll go but you all have to promise...
