When they park and get out, Paula hooks her arm around his again for the walk from the truck to the front door. Adam opens it for her and she walks ahead of him. The waitress takes the menus and leaves.

Adam nods. “I’m surprised he let you go.”

They are just finishing the soup when the waitress brings them their plates, taking the soup bowls away.
