July 10, 1992, Glencoe, Illinois

I gasped and sat stunned, unable to move or even think clearly. It wasn’t my syncope; it was simply Samantha verbalizing a thought that had been bouncing around in my head. I took a deep breath, and my head began to clear. If what she had said was the truth, I would have to take decisive action. Action that would also have to be explained. She was right. It WAS that explosive. I took a few more breaths and felt my brain was working right again, at least to ask the first question.

“Don’t mess with me now, Samantha!” I said firmly. “No games. That is really the truth? You aren’t making this up?”

“Yes, it’s the truth. It’s no game. And, no, I’m not making it up. Jeri went to bed with my dad in Monaco when she was eighteen, and she planned to seduce you in Los Angeles long before you actually made the trip.”

“Why tell me this? Why not just leave it alone?”

“Because you need to know. After everything that’s happened, it has to ALL come out. All of it.”

“And what about you? What’s YOUR angle?” I asked with a sneer.

“I’d prefer to deal with that last. That’s a conversation, not a story. And it’s not what you think.”

“Fine; go on,” I sighed, shaking my head in disbelief, but fully believing it. “Those two revelations need to be fleshed out, at least a bit.”

“The Monaco thing, well it was, as far as I’m aware, the only time. Lisa was out with her friends the day before we were all supposed to leave for home. I was at the beach with my friends. Remember, Lisa was fifteen and had her own friends, and I was nine and had my own.”

“And you’re sure? Completely sure?”

“Yes. I walked in on them. They thought I was out with my friends. We were supposed to be gone all day.”

“What happened?”

“My friends had to leave earlier than I’d expected, so we said goodbye and I went back to the villa. Lisa and her friends, most of whom were older, were somewhere else, and they wouldn’t have wanted a nine-year-old tagging along. When I got back, I heard noises and went to see what they were. I saw my dad and Jeri. It was obvious what they were doing and there weren’t any covers or anything, so I could see it all, if you know what I mean. They didn’t see me. I snuck away and went back outside and walked around for a couple of hours. When I came back, they were done and there were no signs of what had happened. That night, when I asked Jeri about it, she freaked out and made me promise never to tell.”

“So why are you telling be now?”

“I think you need to know everything. That’s why I asked you to promise not to fire Jeri. I think the only way you’ll ever be my friend is if I tell the whole truth. All of it.”

I nodded, “That’s probably, true, but I need to hear the rest. Including about you.”

“Well, as I said, the Los Angeles thing was a seduction from the start and wasn’t what you thought it was.”

“Obviously. I suppose you should just tell the rest of the story.”

“After you decided that the two of you would go to Los Angeles, she came up with her plan. Well, actually, I need to take a step back. She had played the part of a ‘frigid bitch’ who was socially isolated and estranged from her parents to the point where everyone believed it. Her mom was a control freak and a cold person, so nobody doubted it. Well, except my dad. He always knew she had a soft side, if you will.”

“And he exploited it.”

“He was always really nice to her. But then again, he’s always really nice to all the teenage girls. He basically sweet-talked her into bed. He’d done it before; a lot. Most of my friends. Well, they aren’t friends anymore. I quit bringing girls home from school because my dad just saw them as targets. And he was a marksman. My dad has a serious thing for teenage virgins.”

I chuckled, “Well, then he and I have something in common.”

Samantha laughed, “He saw right through Jeri’s act, I guess. But you never did.”

“Not until much later,” I said. “Our director of development at NIKA saw through it. He told me a few times she wasn’t who she was pretending to be, though he didn’t use those words. He just said she would surprise me. I should have listened. Go on.”

“My dad isn’t a fool, and so he didn’t do anything to interfere with her reputation. He never talks about his conquests the way the other men and boys do. He thinks keeping quiet gets him more action. I think he’s right.”

I smiled, “And that’s another thing your dad and I have in common. Sorry. Continue.”

“When the plans were made, she called the hotel and arranged the ‘mix up’ in reservations. I’m not quite sure how she managed, but she had you two sharing a room.”

“And she booked the entire hotel and all the others close to it to make sure it was full?”

“I don’t know. I’m not sure what her backup plan was, but I’m sure she had one. Everything was about getting you to help her in the future. She wanted someone who fit your criteria - an independent businessman who had a family, and who had politics close to hers. Being nice looking was a major plus, and being awesome in bed was a nice surprise. She almost decided to try to make it a long-term affair because of that, but she decided you might be suspicious. But I’m getting ahead. She made the reservation change and everything fell into place, and you were putty in her hands at that point. She played you, Steve. From the moment you walked into that room. The blushing, shy, innocent, scared virgin.”

“And why pretend to be a virgin?”

“It made her seem more vulnerable, and fit with the personality she was portraying.”

A light went on in my head. Something I’d missed when she’d first made the comment about Monaco.

“Wait! Jeri was in Monaco? She told me she never left Chicago! So her fear of flying?”

“All an act,” Samantha said. “And a good one, it would seem.”

“God damn!” I sighed.

“Remember, you promised you wouldn’t fire her!”

“I had a caveat about it affecting the company. Before you continue, does she know you’re telling me all of this?”

“No.”

“Back to my question. Why tell me?”

“Because I really am tired of all the games. I’ll get to this in a bit, but the short version is that you showed me a different way. A way that HAS to be better than what’s going on now! And I want something that I can only have if I’m completely truthful. And even then I might not get it.”

“Fair enough. Finish this part of the story.”

“She planned to move out, and needed an excuse. You provided one. After all, she couldn’t very well bring her lover to her room at the Lundgren house.”

A light went on. A 10,000 watt searchlight.

“Her mom knew about Jeri and me.”

“Not until the night Jeri moved out, well, not you personally. See, there is quite a bit of truth to Jeri’s story. Enough that you wouldn’t doubt it because you didn’t know her that well. She and her mom WERE at odds. So what she told her mom that day was that she had a married lover, and was getting a place she could be with him alone.”

“Son of a bitch! And Margaret Lundgren didn’t know it was me?”

“No. Jeri’s not stupid! Her mom may have assumed it was you, but Jeri didn’t tell her. And funny enough, you set Jeri up with Howard.”

Shit! Howard! By being a blind fool, had I delivered my good friend Howard into the jaws of the beast? Was that another manipulation? Did she REALLY love him? Or was he just another convenient pawn in her game? I had other questions, too. I wasn’t sure if now was the time to ask, or not. But given the conversation, maybe now WAS the time.

“About him...” I asked worriedly.

“I actually think that’s real. I’m pretty sure she loves him and she’s doing this because she truly wants to be with him. I haven’t seen her do anything that would say otherwise. And there are no rumors about her. She’s still seen as the ‘frigid bitch’ and most of the guys think Howard is just a way to keep the guys away. They think she’s holding out for marriage, or at least claims to be.”

“You’re sure? If my friend is being manipulated, I’m going to intervene.”

“Have you seen anything that looks like manipulation?” Samantha asked. “She didn’t tell him she was rich until several months after they started going out.”

“True. OK. I suppose I’ll leave that alone for now. Go on.”

“That’s pretty much the end of that story. San Francisco was something Jeri cooked up after Los Angeles. You were a beast, she said, and she wanted a week of crazy sex with you. I guess my dad lit a slow-burning fuse and you received the benefit of the explosion. I hear it was pretty much non-stop sex for a week!”

I nodded, “That night with you, times five, I guess.”

Samantha smiled, “I wouldn’t mind that myself, but that’s not on the table now, is it?”

“No.”

“You know the rest. After Jeri broke off the affair, she felt she still had control over you because she worked for you. And then she sided with you when her mom came after you. That was real, by the way. Jeri didn’t conspire with her mom on that. You played right into Jeri’s hands. You suggested a way for her to get control of the Foundation, then submitted the proposal, and then your wife made everything public by giving the donation. The trap was sprung.”

“Did Jeri actively solicit the donation from Jessica?”

“I’m not sure who approached whom first, but Jeri certainly used it to her advantage. Don’t blame Doctor Jessica. What Jeri did was probably what anyone who was setting up something like that would do, and Doctor Jessica would be a logical source of a donation.”

“And Bethany? The director?”

“I’m pretty sure that idea came from Alec Glass originally. When they talked about the center at the board meeting, he suggested she was the most likely candidate.”

“Well, so far Alec seems to be the stand-up guy in this whole fiasco.”

“I told you he was. From that first time we talked about him.”

“Jeri did too, but now I’m not sure I can trust a word she’s said to me since I met her.”

“And that’s why I want you to stay on the Board. You and Alec Glass can do some serious good. You know my politics. You also know Alec Glass is a straight-shooter who keeps his word. The one monogamous, faithful man in the entire group.”

I sighed, “But after all the manipulation and lies, I’m not sure I can have anything to do with Jeri. Even at work.”

Samantha straightened and turned slightly on the bench towards me.

“Listen to me. I may be everything you’ve thought when it comes to relationships and maturity, but I do know one thing very, very well. And that’s business. I have my dad’s business sense. Evaluate this situation. Jeri manipulated you into doing what she wanted. Fine. But has ANY of it hurt you? Or your family? Or your friends? Or your business?”

“It’s a trust issue. And those are the hardest to overcome.”

“Other than using her body to manipulate you, has she done more to help or hurt your company?”

“Help, of course.”

“And has she tried to take advantage of you in ANY way except to get you onto the Board?”

“Not that I’m aware of.”

“Be honest now, if you hadn’t had that close relationship, would you have asked her to help found that Center for your friend? Would you have agreed to serve on the Board?”

“Probably not,” I sighed.

“And the sex was awesome?” Samantha asked with twinkle in her eye.

“Yes,” I agreed. “The sex was awesome.”

“Then overall, it’s been positive, despite how it was achieved.”

“You make a good argument, but I’m going to refrain from making a decision on that until I think about it further. Was Lisa aware of Jeri’s scheme?”

“Yes. And I was, too, but remember; I was only fourteen and didn’t know you. Actually, neither did Lisa. We just knew of you.”

“I have to ask another question. An important one. Was Jeri aware of Lisa’s scheme?”

“I don’t think so,” Samantha said. “Well, not until after it happened and you called her. She was really pissed because she was afraid Lisa was going to undo all her hard work to get you where she wanted you.”

“Was Lisa jealous of Jeri, too?” I asked.

“Yes. And I knew something Jeri didn’t. That Lisa was going to make a play for Howard. When she smugly told me you’d never be faithful to me, she said the same thing about Howard. Lisa had you figured out, and tried to play like she didn’t like what was going on in the ‘high society’ that you don’t like. I’m sure she started in on Howard, the same way. Well, when Jeri and I talked last time, she asked me point blank about that so I told her. She and Lisa are through. Probably permanently, but who knows?”

“And you and Lisa?”

“Done. And permanently. I owe you an apology. I trusted you wouldn’t fall, and you didn’t. But I should have told you about Lisa’s scheme beforehand. That would have saved all this trouble.”

“And kept the truth hidden. I accept your apology, but I don’t blame you.”

“Lisa?”

“Partly. But also your parents. I grew up in a dysfunctional family, one where ‘no’ was said out of anger, resentment, and outright hatred, and I resolved not to do that to my kids. But they get told ‘no’, too. Out of love. It’s part of growing up properly. Learning limits. You never did, and that’s not your fault.”

“What about Lisa?”

“I think the mistake there was that Alec felt that at age fifteen he’d taught Lisa well enough that she could be left on her own. I suspect he regrets that decision. I think kids that age should have a lot of freedom and should run their own lives. To a point. There have to be some limits. And some rules. And the kids need to work for things. I’ll never buy a kid a car nor will I pay for insurance.”

“My Corvette?”

“If you had paid for it with money you earned? No problem. I think your dad substituted buying you stuff and letting you do whatever you want for love. Did he make his money or inherit it?”

A WellLived Life 2 Book 5 MichelleChapter 28 The Whole Story

November 29, 1991, Chicago, Illinois “So what did you tell her?” Jessica asked. “The same thing I’ve told her ever since Nick died. And before, really. And honestly, Jess, do YOU think we should run that risk? You made your feelings clear a few weeks ago when you deduced how I felt about Jennifer, Bethany, and Kathy. Abbie did suggest I turn off my ‘emotion chip’, forget what she called my my misplaced honor, and fuck Bethany into next week. I’m not sure that’s the wisest idea at this...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 5 MichelleChapter 78 Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous Part II

May 15, 1992, Glencoe, Illinois “Join me in my study, if you would,” Noel Spurgeon said when we finished our dessert. It had been an interesting evening. Samantha and I had talked for a bit before we’d been summoned to dinner. The meal had been prepared by a chef and was served by a white-coated young man. Again, this was a far cry from Lois at the van Hoeks’ house. What wasn’t a far cry was the fact that I was having dinner with a man who knew I was going to be sleeping with his daughter...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 14 A Southern Belle a Surprise Proposal two Cheerleaders an Old Flame and a Girl Back Home Part I

October 1981, Chicago, Illinois I arrived back at the apartment just before 10:00pm and saw the address for the party. I decided I wasn’t particularly interested in going so I put on some music, poured myself a glass of wine, and started reading more about Russia. I was alternating between the history and culture book and the Communist Party book, decided on the history and culture book for this time. I didn’t get much reading done because I was thinking about Tatyana, which led me to...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 7 SakurakoChapter 57 Land of the Rising Sun Part III

June 23, 1994, Oguni, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan My first week in Japan flew by, and a routine developed. Sakurako would wake me; I’d exercise and run, then shower and have breakfast, and share tea with Sakurako. After breakfast, I’d meditate, and then have my training session. After lunch, I’d work in the garden, or, as I had this day, wash the floors in the house. Hiroshi would accompany me back to the cottage and we’d talk while I washed up and dressed for dinner. After dinner, I’d spend...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 7 SakurakoChapter 54 Westward Bound Or is it Eastward

June 15, 1994, Chicago, Illinois “That’s everything, I think,” I said. “My luggage is in the trunk of the car, I have my passport, tickets, and money, both dollars and yen. I can’t think of anything else.” “I’ll see you in five weeks,” Elyse said, giving me a quick hug. “Did you see they rioted in Vancouver last night because they lost the Stanley Cup?” I chuckled, “Only Canadians would riot when they LOSE the Cup! I did see that on the front page of the Trib. Are we ready?” “Michelle and...

May 26, 1991, Iron Mountain, Michigan “Shall we see if we can find a farm?” I asked at breakfast on Sunday morning. “That sounds like a great idea,” Jessica said. “There’s a visitor’s bureau in town,” Kara said. “I saw it when we were here the first time.” “I’m sorry I ruined that vacation,” Jessica said. “Ruined?” I protested. “Are you kidding? Getting you back was way more important than a few days of vacation!” “I agree,” Kara added. “Jess, you know exactly how bad off Steve was...

A WellLived Life Book 10 The WifeChapter 14 Katherine Victoria Will

January, 1985, Chicago, Illinois I arrived back in Hyde Park about ten minutes before the end of the Super Bowl. It didn’t look like it had been much of a contest, given that the score was 38-16, with San Francisco trouncing Miami. I grabbed a Coke and some chips and sat down on the couch next to Julia and Dave. In the room, besides my housemates, were Jamie, Kenneth, Kurt, Kathy, Jorge, George, Charlie, Bert, and Wen. “Julia, I got approval from both guys in Cincinnati,” I said. She...

Loosening Up Book 9 Fantasies Among the WeedsChapter 2 Phi Theta Rho Party Again

Late on Saturday afternoon Dave shifted into his job as one of the bartenders for the Circle. Just as he was ready for a first customer, Emma came racing up to the bar. She was alone and only wearing a monokini, unlike a few hours earlier when her parents and younger sister had visited and she was dressed conservatively. She extended her body over the bar and kissed Dave. “Thank you for being so nice to my parents and sister.” “Of course. They’re nice people. I take it they don’t know a...

July 22, 2000, Chicago, Illinois “Albert, do you have everything packed?” Mom asked. “Yes, Mom!” I replied, rolling my eyes because she’d asked before I went to bed. “He’ll be fine, Babe,” Dad said. “Let’s walk to the hospital.” I usually didn’t get up early, but Dad had suggested it would help Mom if I walked to the hospital with her because I was leaving to see Jane for three weeks. Mom, Dad, Aunt Kara and I left the house and headed down the sidewalk towards the hospital where Mom and...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 5 Housemates

August 1981, Chicago, Illinois On Sunday morning, I made my usual call to Karin. I described everything in the apartment and all the things I’d done during the week, including the reception. Both of us would start school in a week and we were both looking forward to it. When we finished talking, I went out for my run, showered, and ate breakfast. I made some tea, started a load of laundry, and then turned on the stereo. I put on an REO Speedwagon album and then relaxed on the couch with the...

August 21, 1989, Chicago, Illinois “Unbelievable,” I said when I read the headline from the Chicago Tribune. “It says here that Solidarity activist Tadeusz Mazowiecki was nominated to be Prime Minister of Poland.” I hadn’t had a chance to read the paper on Sunday because it hadn’t been delivered before we left for the race track in Michigan. “So now what?” Kara asked. “We’re in totally uncharted territory. Your guess is as good as anyone’s right about now.” “Steve, do you have a minute?”...

A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 4 Calm Before the Storm

June 1977 When I got home, I grabbed a Coke and some chips and went right to my room. I didn’t think I could deal with my parents or Jeff or Stephanie. I just needed to be by myself. That wouldn’t seem odd to anyone, because I often went to my room to read. In addition, I now had the TV I’d received for my birthday. I flipped it on to WXIX Channel 19 and reruns of Gilligan’s Island and Green Acres played in the background while I read. I had to get my mind clear for the final exams that...

July, 1982, Milford, Ohio I woke up early on Friday morning to make breakfast for Kara and her mom before she went to work. Mrs. Blanchard was surprised, but very pleased. After her mom left for work, Kara gave me a fierce kiss. “Thanks for staying in and cooking breakfast for us,” Kara said. “I hope that doesn’t cause you trouble with Stephanie, with you breaking your normal routine.” “Don’t worry about it,” I said, kissing her back. “We got in a bit later than I expected, and she’ll...

A WellLived Life Book 8 StephieChapter 36 My Lifes Journey

July, 1983, Chicago, Illinois I woke up early on the First of July, because my body clock was still set to Swedish time. The flight back had been long but uneventful, and I was happy that the businessman in the seat next to me hadn’t wanted to talk. I read, wrote some longhand journal entries, ate, and generally relaxed while the plane zipped over the Atlantic. I’d come home, taken a sauna, eaten a light meal, and gone straight to bed, not bothering to check messages, look at the mail that...

March 25, 2000, Chicago, Illinois “What time do I need to have you home?” “8:00pm will be fine,” Misty replied. “My parents are in Normal visiting my brother at Illinois State. They aren’t supposed to be home before 10:00pm.” Misty and I were in my car on the way to the NIKA apartment which, fortunately, was not being used. A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 7 Setting the Course of My Life

June 1977 Friday ended up being a non-event. The more I thought about it, the more I was sure that there was no way on this earth I could say what happened between Birgit and me was a sin. Calling it a sin would debase it into a meaningless act. I could never do that. And the more I thought about Jennie McGrath, the more sure I was that I couldn’t call what she did for me a sin, either. If the church was right, I was going to hell. And frankly, there was no way that could be true. So I...

January 19, 1989, En-Route from LAX to ORD When the engines of the plane started, Jeri reached over and took my hand. She held it while we pushed away from the gate, and taxied for takeoff. Her grip tightened a bit as we hurtled down the runway, but nothing like the death grip she’d had on my arm for the flight out. The plane roared its way into the air and once we leveled out, Jeri’s grip loosened but she didn’t let go of my hand. “How are you doing?” I asked with a touch of...

Sins from my Stepmother Complete Book 1

I My name is Teddy Carlson. I’m twenty-two years old and I fucked my stepmother. Not just once in some momentary lapse of judgement. But again and again…and again. Before you judge me, there’s a few things you need to understand. First, Dad and I never exactly got on like a house on fire. He was the CIO of a large hedge fund which meant that he wasn’t around much. He travelled to Europe regularly and commuted during the week to Manhattan for meetings. When he was home, he was either...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 16 A Southern Belle a Surprise Proposal two Cheerleaders an Old Flame and a Girl Back Home Part I

October 1981, Chicago, Illinois I went to my room, closed the door and dialed my old number in Milford and Stephanie answered. “Hi, Stephanie!” “Hey, Big Bro! How’s Chicago?” “Pretty good. A lot of stuff is happening. But I have a favor to ask. Well, really, it’s a favor from Ed. I’m coming home this weekend and I was wondering if I could borrow the keys to the apartment.” “You and Kara? On Saturday? I’m sure the answer is yes. Where are you staying?” “I was going to call Mrs. Spencer...

A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 34 Old Routines and New Ideas

September 1982, Chicago, Illinois The weekend was quiet and besides homework, I worked on the program changes for Frank, called Karin, Tatyana, and Kara, and hung out with my usual study group. Monday was refreshingly normal. On Tuesday morning, I handed Katy my completed intake form. She put it in an envelope and stuck it in her bag. She said she’d let me know soon about the interview. On Tuesday afternoon, after having lunch with Stephie, I made my rounds and then I headed over to Sigma...

A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 35 An Interview and Some New Friends

October 1982, Chicago, Illinois The drive back to Chicago was as uneventful as usual, and I arrived at the apartment just before 6:00pm. When I arrived, Elyse and Stephie were sitting on the couch and Jackie was sitting on the loveseat. Stephie hopped up as I opened the door and greeted me with a hug and a kiss. “Hi, Peaches!” I said. “Glad you’re home, Yankee!” “Hi, Steve,” Elyse and Jackie both said. “Hey,” I replied. “How was the weekend?” “Well, it was just Kurt with me, Stephie,...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 6 SamanthaChapter 20 Get Thee to a Nunnery

September 4, 1992, Chicago, Illinois “These are really interesting pieces,” I said to Siobhán. Kimmy, Elyse, and I were reviewing the two completed pieces that she’d done as examples of what the series would look like. “You don’t like them?” Siobhán asked pensively. “No, I do! Why would you think I didn’t?” “Usually when someone says ‘interesting’ about abstract art it means they don’t like it.” “Sorry, in this case I meant it. Maybe ‘intriguing’ would have been a better word.” She...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 8 NIKAChapter 68 The Rules

June 29, 1995, Chicago, Illinois On Thursday, I finally had lunch with Melissa again, something I hadn’t been looking forward to. Much like with Cèlia, Melissa and I had passed an inflection point and I was left with sub-optimal paths forward. I’d been struggling with the possible solutions, and all of them had pitfalls. When I walked into Takumi, I had something of a plan. Whether it was good or not would only be known once everything played out. “I spoke to my wives,” I said after we’d...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 3 JessicaChapter 52 Lifestyle Choices

June 11, 1989, Chicago, Illinois It was just after 3:00am when I kissed Trish goodbye. She’d been an enthusiastic, energetic, and adventurous lover. We’d done just about anything either of us could think of, though her breasts weren’t large enough for a tit-fuck. The last time had been in the shower where we’d ostensibly gone to clean up afterwards, but instead I ended up taking her from behind as she leaned against the wall of the shower. “I think I’ll have you again, Steve Adams,” she...

A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 38 Freshman Year Ends

May 1978 The first couple of weeks in May were busy with school, work, and friends. Except for Becky, I didn’t even have any dates. But I was OK with that. Well, almost OK. I wanted to see Anna, but it likely wasn’t going to happen until school was out. I had tutoring sessions with Melanie, but she still wouldn’t talk to me about anything other than Spanish. Barely a hello. I was grateful for the tutoring, but it was maddening seeing my friend this way. I hoped someday she could understand...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 44 Spring Break 1982 Part I

March, 1982, Milford, Ohio As I drove along I-65, I thought about what Stephanie had asked for and what Bethany had said without even knowing about the request. Of course, because Bethany and I were so in tune, she might have actually had an idea that I was struggling with getting involved with my sister again. I kept turning it over and over in my mind and I kept coming to the same conclusion — that I shouldn’t do it. I was torn between doing what Stephanie wanted and doing what Kara and...

September 7, 1992, Chicago, Illinois “That went reasonably well,” Michelle said when her parents drove off. “There were a few times I thought my expression would give away something I shouldn’t. You were messing with me, weren’t you?” She grabbed both my hands and smiled, “I was telling the truth, in my own way. Thank you!” She leaned forward and kissed my cheek. “So, what’s left?” I asked. “To visit UofC tomorrow and formally withdraw from classes. To spend some time with you and your...

A WellLived Life 3 Book 1 SuzanneChapter 39 Like Father Like Son

August 15, 2000, Chicago, Illinois “Whoa!” Cynthia declared, as she turned the pages in The New Joy of Sex. “All these positions! I want to try them!” She was paging through the section of the book which had lots of illustrations. “Wait!” she gasped, as she turned the page. “Bondage? Whoa! He has her tied to the bed!” “That might be fun,” I grinned. “And then I can tie YOU to the bed?” she asked with a silly smirk. “I suppose turn-about is fair play.” “And threesomes?” “That might not...

January 23, 1996, Chicago, Illinois “Father, bless!” I said, greeting Father Basil with upturned palms. “Bless you, Stephen,” he said as I kissed his hand. The waiter showed us to a quiet table along the wall of Roditys in Greektown. He took our drink orders and was back quickly. We placed our food orders right away and he left to put them in with the kitchen. “I’m not quite sure how to address this, so I’m just going to ask you bluntly. Are you the father of Michelle’s baby?” I shook my...

A WellLived Life Book 3 PiaChapter 25 The Puzzle and the Cat Part II

March 1980, Hovås/Göteborg, Sweden I woke early as usual, but just enjoyed being in bed with Katt. When she woke, she hopped out of bed and pulled a robe out of her closet and handed it to me. “There’s a spare toothbrush in the bathroom. Go have your shower, then we’ll have breakfast after I have my shower.” I quickly showered and brushed my teeth, and went back to Katt’s room. She went to shower and came back a few minutes later. She dressed, and I got a very good look at her sexy body...

April 5, 1997, Chicago, Illinois “You missed cuddles this morning!” Birgit said accusingly when I walked into the house about 9:30am. “I know, Pumpkin, but I had a work emergency and had to go see Aunt Joyce and Grandpa A.” “And now we have to get ready for karate!” “I know. We’ll have some family time this afternoon. I don’t have any plans.” “Good!” I hugged her and the rest of the kids, then went to find Kara. September 3, 1989, Chicago, Illinois “Good morning, Sensei,” I said, bowing to Sensei Jim. “Good morning!” he said waving me to a chair in his office. “How was your trip?” I asked. “Enlightening. I spent most of my time acting as a manservant to Sensei Robert and Sensei Hiro.” “He who will lead, must first serve,” I said. “Someday, I’m going to send you to Sensei Hiro, should he live long enough. October 29, 2000, Chicago, Illinois Birgit followed me as far as the stairs, then scooted upstairs when I went to the front door and opened it. “Hi!” Sophie said. “Hi!” I replied and held the door open so she could come into the house. I closed the door behind her then led her to my study where I waited until she went in, and then walked in, closing the door behind me. I nodded to one of the wingback chairs, she sat down in one, and I sat down in the other. “Is something wrong?” she...

A WellLived Life Book 8 StephieChapter 61 Anala Part II

August, 1983, Chicago, Illinois I walked in the near 90°F heat to Carla’s place. I was grateful that the humidity of the morning had dropped significantly; otherwise the heat would have been unbearable. By the time I walked up the steps to the apartment over the photography studio and knocked on her door, I had broken into a light sweat. Carla answered almost immediately and invited me inside her studio apartment. The air was moderately cool, and the window air conditioner was running full...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 10 BridgetChapter 57 Im Really Sorry Sweetheart

February 16, 1997, Chicago, Illinois Our conversation during the Rap Session was about how to find ‘truth’ and both Elizabeth and I made a strong case for skepticism as the best approach to life. “But if you don’t believe anything is true, how can you decide what to do?” Brenna asked after a lengthy discussion about how to know what was true. “Remember what we said about listening carefully?” Elizabeth asked. “We operate as if the things we’ve come to believe actually are true, but always...

March 13, 1994, Chicago, Illinois “Hi, Steve!” Ailea said when she opened the door. “Hi,” I replied, accepting the offered hug. There was no touching of lips, just of cheeks, and I wondered if I’d misread her intentions at her birthday lunch, or if, perhaps, she detected my reluctance to return the offered affection. “Lunch is ready, so go ahead and sit. I’ll bring it in from the kitchen.” I went to the low table, sat down, and a minute later, Ailea brought miso soup and sushi, our usual...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 10 BridgetChapter 72 An Explosive Discovery

April 3, 1997, Dallas, Texas “Remember what I said about drinking too much,” I said, as I poured bourbon into three cups. We’d stopped at a liquor store, bought a bottle of Blanton’s, and then returned to the small suite I’d reserved at the Westin. Deborah’s room was down the hall, and Krissy’s was two floors below. Krissy’s comment had caught me a bit off guard, but I hadn’t reacted visibly. I didn’t know her quite well enough to know if she’d been teasing with Deborah, so I was being...

Jessica giggled, “I set the alarm for thirty minutes earlier!” “Then let’s not waste any of it!” I said pulling Kara to me. Kara’s squeals as I plunged...

An Unexpected Wedding A Wish Book Story

Authors Note: I realise that it has been quite a while since the last story and I apologise for that, but my writing is very sporadic due to the way that life always has a way of getting in the way. As with all my stories, the initial concept comes quite naturally, the challenge is always bringing the story to a satisfactory conclusion. This is the 4th story I have published, but for every published story I think there are at least 3 or 4 unfinished stories left on the pad. This...

September 1, 1987, Chicago, Illinois “I heard that you have some kind of plan to help Ed,” I said to Connie. “There’s no plan,” she replied. “A witness who saw the shopkeeper alive after Ed left came forward.” That sounded convenient, and I wondered if the witness was real or someone that Anthony had put forward to solve the problem. Certainly, the videotape was real, because I couldn’t imagine how Anthony could have faked that, but the witness? Who knew? “So is he being released? Or is...

August 17, 1997, Chicago, Illinois We finished lunch and Marissa and the younger kids went to play, but Natalie sat with the adults to talk, with coffee, tea, or soft drinks. The Sarcus were very comfortable, but the Heaths were still struggling. But, vitally, they hadn’t left and hadn’t insisted Natalie leave the group. “Can you explain how you developed this attitude and approach?” Chris asked. I nodded, “It started when I was just a bit younger than Natalie. My mom was a total control...

July 1979 — Falkenberg, Sweden On Friday, when I got back from my run, Pam was in her bra and panties again. I whistled at her, she giggled, then finished dressing. I showered, and we went to breakfast and finished up our last day. Once class was done, we were pretty much free. On Saturday, we’d have several optional activities and then on Sunday we’d head back to our host families. After dinner on Friday, I took Pam’s hand and we walked towards the river. It was quiet and peaceful, and...

July 1980, Over the North Atlantic We reached cruising altitude, and I settled back to read my book. Pam raised the armrest between us, snuggled close to me and read as well. The cabin crew offered drinks, and I had my first Coke in a year! Meal service began about an hour and a half into the flight. After the cabin crew picked up the trays and offered drinks again, they passed once more, offering headsets for the movie. Trevor and Maria took them, but Pam and I didn’t, instead we turned on...
