October 1, 1992, San Francisco, California

“We need some ground rules,” I said.

“Oh no you don’t!” Bethany growled. “You are NOT talking me to death. Fucking me to death, yes! Talking me to death, no!”

“I’m serious. Sit, please.”

Bethany reluctantly moved to the loveseat in the sitting room of our suite at the Mark Hopkins InterContinental Hotel on Nob Hill in San Francisco. We’d checked in less than ten minutes earlier after an uneventful, but twenty-minute-delayed flight from Chicago.

“What?” she asked.

“I think we should keep this from the kids,” I said. “For a host of reasons. None of them know about Michelle, and this has similar potential problems.”

“First of all, I am NOT going to become a nun,” Bethany laughed. “And second, your Pumpkin knows all but tells nothing. You told me she knows.”

I chuckled, “True. The ‘Neighborhood Watch’ spotted me coming upstairs after spending the night with Michelle.”

“Why keep it from the kids?”

“We told Jesse and Nicholas we weren’t doing this and weren’t going to do this. I think it causes complications if they know. And we can, because I don’t expect this to last very long.”

“You BETTER last long, Mr. Adams, or I WILL kill you!” she giggled. “But in all seriousness, why?”

“Because it’s not good for either of us. Do I want to make love to you? Absolutely! Do I want to keep making love to you? Absolutely! But I think it will keep you from moving on if it goes on too long. And you need to move on. I can’t be a permanent scratching post.”

“Is that what you think this is?” Bethany sighed.

I smiled, “Tell me I’m wrong, Sweetheart. We’ve talked about this for a year since you said ‘shut up and screw me!’.”

“You don’t follow orders very well!” she smirked, then sighed. “You aren’t wrong. At least the first night. After tonight, I want you to make love to me the way you always did.”

“And then?”

“I haven’t thought that far in advance.”

“Jesus, Sweetheart! We’re both going to be thirty in six months! Don’t you think at this point we should give more thought to this than just thinking ‘I want to fuck!’, and doing it? That might work at fifteen, or even twenty-one. That might work for a ‘dalliance’. But it sure as hell doesn’t work at thirty! And it doesn’t work for us!”

“Did I take two days away from the hospital and fly all the way out here for nothing?”

“If you think spending time with me is ‘nothing’, then I’ll sleep on the couch for the next four nights,” I said flatly.

“What has gotten into you? I thought WE AGREED on this! You invited me here for SEX!”

“If you think THAT, then I suggest that the best thing to do is for me to call you a cab and send you back to Chicago on the red-eye.”

“Are you messing with me?” she demanded.

“No, I am NOT messing with you! I’m telling you that you and I are NOT about sex and are not about just randomly fucking to scratch an itch! If I thought we were, then I would have fucked you when you asked me to a year ago! When you figure out what happens on Tuesday, THEN we can talk about whatever it is that you want to do this weekend.”

She got up, grabbed the plastic card key for the door from the desk.

“I’m going for a walk!” she declared, sounding very annoyed.

I let her go. I’d made one mistake, and that was not ensuring she knew what came NEXT before we got on the plane. I should have, but my mind had been elsewhere - Michelle, Samantha, my wives, my kids, work, the User Group meeting. My problem was that I didn’t know what came next. What I did know was that it had to be talked about, and, to use the term I’d used with Samantha, negotiated.

Part of it was that Samantha was going to ask me about Bethany, and if I didn’t know the answer to the question, at least in some sort of broad outline, I felt there was a good chance she’d delay answering my question about what our future relationship was going to be. Leaving important provisions of a deal until after making the deal was a sure way for everything to go to hell. I shook my head at how clinical and business-like that sounded; but that was, indeed, what Samantha and I were doing. And it made eminent sense to me.

Another part of it was that I didn’t think being long-term lovers was in Bethany’s best interest. I felt it sent the wrong message to Nicholas, and would prevent Bethany from getting on with her life. Her decision to move out had hurt at first, but I knew it was the right thing for her to do. Just like moving to Milford had been the right decision. She HAD to be away from me to get on with her life.

The final part was related to the first two. Bethany was not someone who could integrate into Cirque du Steve. She’d tried before, and it hadn’t worked. She’d tried to be my wife and we’d failed miserably at that. As much as I loved her, in fact because I loved her, I knew she had to separate herself from me and my family. Close friends? Absolutely. Occasional lovers? Possibly, at least in the short term. Living in the same house? Impossible!

I decided to unpack our things and put them in the dressers in the bedroom. I did my stuff first, then Bethany’s. I chuckled at what was surely meant to be a surprise, and put the bags in the closet. When I finished, she hadn’t returned, so I sat down with Without Remorse, the latest Tom Clancy novel that had been released in August. I hadn’t had much time to read it, and had brought it along for reading on the plane. I was enjoying reading John Clark’s/John Kelly’s backstory in this prequel to the other Clancy books I’d read.

Bethany returned after about an hour, and came over to sit on the loveseat. I put the book on the end table next to me.

“I’m sorry,” she said sheepishly.

“It’s OK,” I said, putting my arms around her.

Bethany rotated so that she was leaning across my lap facing me.

“You’re right,” she said with a deep sigh. “I should have thought this through. We aren’t two teenagers working our way towards our first lovemaking. Or even young twenty-somethings trying to figure out if we should marry. We’re adults and we should act like adults. I, of all people, should have known that!”

“I believe one of the admonitions you’ve told me you received from your mentors was to never try to treat yourself.”

She smiled, “Very true. I guess the question is, what’s on the table?”

“Anything short of divorcing Jessica, sending Kara to a convent, and marrying you,” I chuckled.

“Drat! Maybe I SHOULD go home!” she laughed.

“So, being serious; we need to figure out what this means for Nicholas, for you and me, and for my wives.”

“Interesting order.”

“I promised to watch out for Nicholas. He’s the one that could be hurt the worst here.”

“You know what stunned me and made me walk out of here?”

“What?”

“I realized, finally, that you have become the man I wanted you to be. No ifs, ands, or buts. And, ultimately, it took a seventeen-year-old spoiled brat and a nineteen-year-old deeply-devout young woman to take you the rest of the way. Both virgins. Both needed to have sex with you to figure out the proper course for their lives. Both have had a very profound effect on you. Both will have a profound effect on you for years to come.”

“There have been others,” I protested.

“Bit players. What about you and Jennifer?”

I shook my head, “No. Josie can’t handle it. She said it was ‘OK’ and ‘fine’ but I don’t think she REALLY thinks that. I think she was simply acquiescing to Jennifer’s request. Jen agrees with me, by the way.”

“And the nearly-thirty-year-olds can simply walk away from what would be the most beautiful sexual experience of their lives, bar none. AND they both know it. I’m impressed.”

I shrugged, “We love each other.”

“I wish I could have sex like that just one time in my life. Just once. But nobody, and I mean nobody, has the connection you and Jennifer have. You both turned it off because it could have destroyed everything; but we all see it embodied in that six-year-old who just started first grade. If there is a more pure expression of love in the world, I don’t know what it could possibly be.”

“He is a special kid. But so is Nicholas. And so are all of Jesse’s siblings.”

“Do you know what makes me sad?” Bethany asked.

“No.”

“That even now, as the man I knew you could become, you still aren’t the man who could be mine. Not the way I needed.”

“Because you couldn’t share.”

“Yes.”

“But it’s OK if my wives share me with you?”

“What do you like to say? That’s up to them and to you. Me not being able to share doesn’t have any effect on them being able to share. It’s like your rule about being with girls who are in committed relationships. YOU are in a committed relationship, and that’s OK. But they can’t be.”

“So, where does this leave us?” I asked.

“Sitting in a hotel room in San Francisco debating if we’re actually going to do this.”

I chuckled, “That’s an answer I would give! What do you need from me? And I’m not talking about specific sex acts!”

“I think, this weekend we do as planned, and then occasionally, very occasionally, we make love. What I want is closeness with you until I’m ready to try a new relationship.”

“You’ve decided to try?”

She nodded, “I kept debating with myself about what it would mean for my marriage to Nick and, more importantly, what it would mean for Nicholas.”

“More than one person told me to quit thinking about violating Nick’s trust and reminded me that my loyalty to him was misplaced at this point and on this topic.”

“Jennifer?”

“Yes. And Abbie.”

“Abbie?”

“I thought I told you what she said. It was pretty funny, in one sense. Let me see if I can recall the exchange.”

“For a guy who’s been with over a hundred women, and half of those virgins, you would think you could just fuck for the sheer pleasure of it! With your attitude, I’m surprised you aren’t in some mental ward by now!”

“You aren’t the only one surprised by that!” I chuckled. “But it’s not that easy.”

“Bullshit. Turn off the ‘emotion chip’, Commander Data! When Bethany is here for Thanksgiving, fuck her so hard she can’t walk, talk, or even see straight the next morning! Take Doctor Abbie’s advice, and ‘Make it so!’. You’ll be glad you did. And so will she!”

“And now you’ve waited nearly a year! And you’re STILL talking, not doing.”

“I think I can agree to what you want from me going forward. What about this weekend?”

“I think Abbie is right! Fuck me so hard I can’t walk, talk, or even see straight tomorrow morning! I told you what I wanted?”

“You’re sure?”

“After tonight, we’re just going to make love, slowly, gently, and sweetly. But tonight? Tonight, you are going to fuck me hard in my hot cheerleader pussy, my tight cheerleader ass, and my sassy cheerleader mouth! And after that, you’re going to cum on my face, then on my tits!”

“Jesus, Bethany! Really?”

“I have what you need to encourage you,” she smirked.

She got up from the couch and went to the bedroom.

“You rat!” she screeched. “You know!”

“Go put on your cheerleader uniform and I’ll give you the best fucking you’ve ever had!”

“Yes!” she hissed.

October 2, 1992, San Francisco, California

“I didn’t think about what this morning would be like,” Bethany giggled.

“Are you OK?”

“It’s going to take me forever to get the cum out of my hair, and the cum stains out of my cheerleader uniform! My butt hurts, my jaw hurts, and my thighs hurt.”

“Sorry?”

“Apologize again and I’m going to make Jessica and Kara very sad by cutting it off!”

I chuckled, “I’ll order room service. You should probably try to get cleaned up.”

“That last time, you banged me so hard I think I have bruises! And I was shocked at how much you came when you pulled out to cum on my tits!”

“You did ask me to do that!” I grinned.

“And I’m not sorry I did! Go call room service. I’m going to crawl to the bathroom and take a hot shower!”

I did as she asked, then went to the bathroom and got into the shower with her. We were both sweaty and sticky, and she was, almost too literally, covered in cum as she’d said she wanted to be. I’d worried about the nearly violent acts, but when she’d fiercely demanded I fuck her harder, I quickly overcame my concerns.

We were reasonably cleaned up when room service arrived with our breakfast. We ate, then went back to the bathroom to finish cleaning up, before I dressed in my suit and tie so I could head downstairs to the ballroom for the opening session of the User Group meeting.

“See you for lunch and dinner,” Bethany said, and we exchanged a soft kiss.

I went downstairs and found Cindi, Kimmy, and Keri.

“You’re alive?” Cindi smirked.

“Of course!” I grinned, then leaned close to whisper in her ear. “I TOLD you you’d be no match for me!”

She laughed softly, and her eyes twinkled, then we went into the ballroom to take our places. I surveyed the room and was ecstatic to see so many people, both familiar and new. Ben Jackson shook my hand, and I sat down, with Cindi to my right, and Julia to her right. Ben called the meeting to order promptly at 9:00am while some of the lawyers, doctors, office managers, and IT support staff were still getting bagels or Danish from the table at the back of the large ballroom.

Things went very smoothly, and after all of the speeches, I went to a small room that had been set aside for my team and had some coffee. As usual, I had nothing to do before lunch, and had reviewed Zo’s and Sam’s presentations. I felt my speech had been well-received, but I wouldn’t know until Ben gave me some feedback.

Bethany joined us for lunch, and introduced herself as Doctor Krajick, from University of Chicago, and a childhood friend of mine. She sat with me, but we were careful not to do anything or say anything which might reveal our true relationship. When lunch ended, everyone went to breakout sessions, and I went to hide in the small room and drink coffee. I read more of Without Remorse, and only came out during breaks between sessions to mingle.

Dinner that evening was at the Top of the Mark, the restaurant on the top floor of the hotel building. Ben Jackson had arranged a guest speaker, California Assembly Speaker Willie Brown. He gave a short speech during dessert, and afterwards, Ben Jackson introduced me. I wasn’t sure why a politician was at the meeting, but I was sure that it had to do with the numerous California-based lawyers at the meeting.

After dinner, there was a ‘night on the town’ with several events that Ben’s team in Los Angeles had planned. I begged off as being too tired, but promised to go on the Alcatraz tour on Saturday morning. After having a few drinks with Ben and some other lawyers and doctors, I headed up to my room where Bethany, who had left immediately following dinner, was waiting for me.

Submissive Cum Laude Chapter 1 Mistress Bethany

It had been an adjustment for Alex, moving across the pond to the states. The longer he was here the more benefits he noticed to being a young British man in “the colonies.” His accent afforded him an odd degree of respect that he never would've commanded at home. He had been complimented by no shortage of women who loved the sound of his voice. Alex had done his best to curtail his use of typical British slang. He liked that people knew he was foreign, but he didn't want to stick out like...

College Retreat Bethany

“…she dreamed of orgasm building like this, she knew it was intense, it came like fingers repeatedly trilling across a piano keyboard, vibrating through itself…”As Monsignor Bernard re-stoked the fire, he took a full deep drag on his pre breakfast fag. The Jesuit in him was organising the intellectual discipline senior students needed at least till the afternoon. History and English assignments had to be started. Then individual preparation time for their upcoming college responsibilities....

Bethany

Slowly, painfully I push myself up from my knees, then moving in almost robotic form, I help my wife of 6 ½ years to stand with me, leaving the small white box that was so starkly contrasted against the green grass to it’s own fate. Memories of the life that box contained rose up in my mind like a tidal wave, reminding me of just how natural that contrast had been in her life. The news of a pregnancy in a family is normally greeted with happiness and joy. However, when her mother and I found...

Plain Jane Or Beautiful Bethany

Plain Jane Or Beautiful Bethany Once upon a time a couple of months ago there were these two sisters, Jane and Bethany or as the kids in school called them…Plain Jane and Beautiful Bethany. Jane was fifteen years old and her younger sister Bethany was fourteen years old. As you can well imagine, Bethany was absolutely beautiful and every boy in school wanted to get in her panties. On the other hand Jane was just an ordinary girl that pretty much went unnoticed. Bethany had...

House in the Woods Bethany

© Copyright 2003 She would have been pretty - even beautiful - had her face not been frozen in that perpetual pouting sneer affected by so many of today's young girls. Barely five feet tall, the obligatory low cut top, bare midriff with navel jewelry, and hip-slung jeans completed the stereotype. The top was filled out mostly with padding, though even through the screen door I could see a little cleavage. She stood with arms crossed under her breasts, as if they needed support, one...

The Life and Times of Bethany Clark Chapter 1 Bethany

The Life and Times of Bethany Clark written by LaMystika ([email protected]) Chapter 1 - Bethany Damn it, I'm a nervous wreck. That was pretty much the only thing running through my mind since my lunch break. Where I had feelings of excitement and contentment earlier today, they have since been replaced with nervousness, even as I was driving home from work one Friday afternoon. I was constantly fidgeting in my seat, trying to keep my seatbelt nestled in between my breasts...

Youre So Perfect Bethany

The day was August 27, 1991. Seventeen year-old Bethany was listening to Nirvana's new hit-single, "Smells Like Teen Spirit", with her father, William. They were laying outside in their backyard, enjoying the last bit of the sunshine and blue skies for the year. "Turn off that ruckus, Bethany." "It's not ruckus, Daddy. It's art." "Whatever you'd like to call it." "Just calm down, Daddy. Smile a bit." She got closer to her father and used her fingers to make him smile. She then started making...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 5 MichelleChapter 78 Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous Part II

May 15, 1992, Glencoe, Illinois “Join me in my study, if you would,” Noel Spurgeon said when we finished our dessert. It had been an interesting evening. Samantha and I had talked for a bit before we’d been summoned to dinner. The meal had been prepared by a chef and was served by a white-coated young man. Again, this was a far cry from Lois at the van Hoeks’ house. What wasn’t a far cry was the fact that I was having dinner with a man who knew I was going to be sleeping with his daughter...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 7 SakurakoChapter 57 Land of the Rising Sun Part III

June 23, 1994, Oguni, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan My first week in Japan flew by, and a routine developed. Sakurako would wake me; I’d exercise and run, then shower and have breakfast, and share tea with Sakurako. After breakfast, I’d meditate, and then have my training session. After lunch, I’d work in the garden, or, as I had this day, wash the floors in the house. Hiroshi would accompany me back to the cottage and we’d talk while I washed up and dressed for dinner. After dinner, I’d spend...

Sleeping Over With Aunt Bethany

"This is so fun!" I said, feeling myself beam at my beautiful Aunt Bethany as I snuggled up to her in her cozy bed. "I never got to do this with my mom." I was just so in love with her, though I didn't know how to talk to her about it. Now laying with her, in our pjs, feel her breasts bare underneath her silky gown, smelling the soft skin of her neck right up against my face, I found her more intoxicating than ever. I couldn't help nuzzling her and rubbing my knees against her thigh. I was...

June 15, 1994, Chicago, Illinois “That’s everything, I think,” I said. “My luggage is in the trunk of the car, I have my passport, tickets, and money, both dollars and yen. I can’t think of anything else.” “I’ll see you in five weeks,” Elyse said, giving me a quick hug. “Did you see they rioted in Vancouver last night because they lost the Stanley Cup?” I chuckled, “Only Canadians would riot when they LOSE the Cup! I did see that on the front page of the Trib. Are we ready?” “Michelle and...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 5 Housemates

August 1981, Chicago, Illinois On Sunday morning, I made my usual call to Karin. I described everything in the apartment and all the things I’d done during the week, including the reception. Both of us would start school in a week and we were both looking forward to it. When we finished talking, I went out for my run, showered, and ate breakfast. I made some tea, started a load of laundry, and then turned on the stereo. I put on an REO Speedwagon album and then relaxed on the couch with the...

August 21, 1989, Chicago, Illinois “Unbelievable,” I said when I read the headline from the Chicago Tribune. “It says here that Solidarity activist Tadeusz Mazowiecki was nominated to be Prime Minister of Poland.” I hadn’t had a chance to read the paper on Sunday because it hadn’t been delivered before we left for the race track in Michigan. “So now what?” Kara asked. “We’re in totally uncharted territory. Your guess is as good as anyone’s right about now.” “Steve, do you have a minute?”...

A WellLived Life Book 8 StephieChapter 36 My Lifes Journey

July, 1983, Chicago, Illinois I woke up early on the First of July, because my body clock was still set to Swedish time. The flight back had been long but uneventful, and I was happy that the businessman in the seat next to me hadn’t wanted to talk. I read, wrote some longhand journal entries, ate, and generally relaxed while the plane zipped over the Atlantic. I’d come home, taken a sauna, eaten a light meal, and gone straight to bed, not bothering to check messages, look at the mail that...

A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 4 Calm Before the Storm

June 1977 When I got home, I grabbed a Coke and some chips and went right to my room. I didn’t think I could deal with my parents or Jeff or Stephanie. I just needed to be by myself. That wouldn’t seem odd to anyone, because I often went to my room to read. In addition, I now had the TV I’d received for my birthday. I flipped it on to WXIX Channel 19 and reruns of Gilligan’s Island and Green Acres played in the background while I read. I had to get my mind clear for the final exams that...

July, 1983, Chicago, Illinois After Rosie left, I stripped the sheets from my bed, as well as the cover of the duvet, and tossed everything into the washing machine. A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 7 Setting the Course of My Life

June 1977 Friday ended up being a non-event. The more I thought about it, the more I was sure that there was no way on this earth I could say what happened between Birgit and me was a sin. Calling it a sin would debase it into a meaningless act. I could never do that. And the more I thought about Jennie McGrath, the more sure I was that I couldn’t call what she did for me a sin, either. If the church was right, I was going to hell. And frankly, there was no way that could be true. So I...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 5 MichelleChapter 77 Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous Part I

May 11, 1992, Chicago, Illinois Monday was turning out to be a LONG day. After my run and talk with Gina, and my talk with Elyse, I had a full day at the office scheduled. First was our leadership meeting in the morning, and then I had status meetings with each team. At lunch I’d gone to see Siobhán and explained that I was going to break off the sexual relationship, but that I wanted to remain friends. She was disappointed, but admitted that Thursday would have been the last time, since she...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 3 JessicaChapter 23 So Now You Turn Back Into Diana Prince

January 19, 1989, En-Route from LAX to ORD When the engines of the plane started, Jeri reached over and took my hand. She held it while we pushed away from the gate, and taxied for takeoff. Her grip tightened a bit as we hurtled down the runway, but nothing like the death grip she’d had on my arm for the flight out. The plane roared its way into the air and once we leveled out, Jeri’s grip loosened but she didn’t let go of my hand. “How are you doing?” I asked with a touch of...

A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 34 Old Routines and New Ideas

September 1982, Chicago, Illinois The weekend was quiet and besides homework, I worked on the program changes for Frank, called Karin, Tatyana, and Kara, and hung out with my usual study group. Monday was refreshingly normal. On Tuesday morning, I handed Katy my completed intake form. She put it in an envelope and stuck it in her bag. She said she’d let me know soon about the interview. On Tuesday afternoon, after having lunch with Stephie, I made my rounds and then I headed over to Sigma...

A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 35 An Interview and Some New Friends

October 1982, Chicago, Illinois The drive back to Chicago was as uneventful as usual, and I arrived at the apartment just before 6:00pm. When I arrived, Elyse and Stephie were sitting on the couch and Jackie was sitting on the loveseat. Stephie hopped up as I opened the door and greeted me with a hug and a kiss. “Hi, Peaches!” I said. “Glad you’re home, Yankee!” “Hi, Steve,” Elyse and Jackie both said. “Hey,” I replied. “How was the weekend?” “Well, it was just Kurt with me, Stephie,...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 3 JessicaChapter 52 Lifestyle Choices

June 11, 1989, Chicago, Illinois It was just after 3:00am when I kissed Trish goodbye. She’d been an enthusiastic, energetic, and adventurous lover. We’d done just about anything either of us could think of, though her breasts weren’t large enough for a tit-fuck. The last time had been in the shower where we’d ostensibly gone to clean up afterwards, but instead I ended up taking her from behind as she leaned against the wall of the shower. “I think I’ll have you again, Steve Adams,” she...

A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 38 Freshman Year Ends

May 1978 The first couple of weeks in May were busy with school, work, and friends. Except for Becky, I didn’t even have any dates. But I was OK with that. Well, almost OK. I wanted to see Anna, but it likely wasn’t going to happen until school was out. I had tutoring sessions with Melanie, but she still wouldn’t talk to me about anything other than Spanish. Barely a hello. I was grateful for the tutoring, but it was maddening seeing my friend this way. I hoped someday she could understand...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 44 Spring Break 1982 Part I

March, 1982, Milford, Ohio As I drove along I-65, I thought about what Stephanie had asked for and what Bethany had said without even knowing about the request. Of course, because Bethany and I were so in tune, she might have actually had an idea that I was struggling with getting involved with my sister again. I kept turning it over and over in my mind and I kept coming to the same conclusion — that I shouldn’t do it. I was torn between doing what Stephanie wanted and doing what Kara and...

September 7, 1992, Chicago, Illinois “That went reasonably well,” Michelle said when her parents drove off. “There were a few times I thought my expression would give away something I shouldn’t. You were messing with me, weren’t you?” She grabbed both my hands and smiled, “I was telling the truth, in my own way. Thank you!” She leaned forward and kissed my cheek. “So, what’s left?” I asked. “To visit UofC tomorrow and formally withdraw from classes. To spend some time with you and your...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 14 A Southern Belle a Surprise Proposal two Cheerleaders an Old Flame and a Girl Back Home Part I

October 1981, Chicago, Illinois I arrived back at the apartment just before 10:00pm and saw the address for the party. I decided I wasn’t particularly interested in going so I put on some music, poured myself a glass of wine, and started reading more about Russia. I was alternating between the history and culture book and the Communist Party book, decided on the history and culture book for this time. I didn’t get much reading done because I was thinking about Tatyana, which led me to...

January 23, 1996, Chicago, Illinois “Father, bless!” I said, greeting Father Basil with upturned palms. “Bless you, Stephen,” he said as I kissed his hand. The waiter showed us to a quiet table along the wall of Roditys in Greektown. He took our drink orders and was back quickly. We placed our food orders right away and he left to put them in with the kitchen. “I’m not quite sure how to address this, so I’m just going to ask you bluntly. Are you the father of Michelle’s baby?” I shook my...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 8 NIKAChapter 68 The Rules

June 29, 1995, Chicago, Illinois On Thursday, I finally had lunch with Melissa again, something I hadn’t been looking forward to. Much like with Cèlia, Melissa and I had passed an inflection point and I was left with sub-optimal paths forward. I’d been struggling with the possible solutions, and all of them had pitfalls. When I walked into Takumi, I had something of a plan. Whether it was good or not would only be known once everything played out. “I spoke to my wives,” I said after we’d...

December 5, 2000, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota “I had a good time last night,” I said. “I was surprised you invited a friend!” Mary laughed as we walked into the exam room, “Naomi had a good time as well. You know what a Resident’s life is like.” I nodded, “No social life.” “Exactly. You guys seemed to hit it off pretty well.” “Yes, but I’m not here for that!” “You’re everywhere for that, and you know it!” I couldn’t help but laugh. “Let’s just say that you hit the sweet spot -...

A WellLived Life Book 3 PiaChapter 25 The Puzzle and the Cat Part II

March 1980, Hovås/Göteborg, Sweden I woke early as usual, but just enjoyed being in bed with Katt. When she woke, she hopped out of bed and pulled a robe out of her closet and handed it to me. “There’s a spare toothbrush in the bathroom. Go have your shower, then we’ll have breakfast after I have my shower.” I quickly showered and brushed my teeth, and went back to Katt’s room. She went to shower and came back a few minutes later. She dressed, and I got a very good look at her sexy body...

We’ll have some family time this afternoon. I don’t have any plans.” “Good!” I hugged her and the rest of the kids, then went to find Kara. September 3, 1989, Chicago, Illinois “Good morning, Sensei,” I said, bowing to Sensei Jim. “Good morning!” he said waving me to a chair in his office. “How was your trip?” I asked. “Enlightening. I spent most of my time acting as a manservant to Sensei Robert and Sensei Hiro.” “He who will lead, must first serve,” I said. “Someday, I’m going to send you to Sensei Hiro, should he live long enough. October 29, 2000, Chicago, Illinois Birgit followed me as far as the stairs, then scooted upstairs when I went to the front door and opened it. “Hi!” Sophie said. “Hi!” I replied and held the door open so she could come into the house. I closed the door behind her then led her to my study where I waited until she went in, and then walked in, closing the door behind me. I nodded to one of the wingback chairs, she sat down in one, and I sat down in the other. “Is something wrong?” she...

A WellLived Life Book 8 StephieChapter 61 Anala Part II

August, 1983, Chicago, Illinois I walked in the near 90°F heat to Carla’s place. I was grateful that the humidity of the morning had dropped significantly; otherwise the heat would have been unbearable. By the time I walked up the steps to the apartment over the photography studio and knocked on her door, I had broken into a light sweat. Carla answered almost immediately and invited me inside her studio apartment. The air was moderately cool, and the window air conditioner was running full...

July 1982, Milford, Ohio On Tuesday morning, I kissed Kara goodbye and headed to my parents’ house for my usual morning routine with my little sister. She was happy that I could spend the morning with her and asked to take a walk, so we weren’t in the house with my mom. “Let me guess — this walk will end in the clearing,” I said with a smile. “Yes,” she said, taking my hand as we walked down Overlook towards Klondyke. As usual, we turned around and walked back, taking the path to the...

March 13, 1994, Chicago, Illinois “Hi, Steve!” Ailea said when she opened the door. “Hi,” I replied, accepting the offered hug. There was no touching of lips, just of cheeks, and I wondered if I’d misread her intentions at her birthday lunch, or if, perhaps, she detected my reluctance to return the offered affection. “Lunch is ready, so go ahead and sit. I’ll bring it in from the kitchen.” I went to the low table, sat down, and a minute later, Ailea brought miso soup and sushi, our usual...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 10 BridgetChapter 72 An Explosive Discovery

April 3, 1997, Dallas, Texas “Remember what I said about drinking too much,” I said, as I poured bourbon into three cups. We’d stopped at a liquor store, bought a bottle of Blanton’s, and then returned to the small suite I’d reserved at the Westin. Deborah’s room was down the hall, and Krissy’s was two floors below. Krissy’s comment had caught me a bit off guard, but I hadn’t reacted visibly. I didn’t know her quite well enough to know if she’d been teasing with Deborah, so I was being...

Jessica giggled, “I set the alarm for thirty minutes earlier!” “Then let’s not waste any of it!” I said pulling Kara to me. Kara’s squeals as I plunged...

September 1, 1987, Chicago, Illinois “I heard that you have some kind of plan to help Ed,” I said to Connie. “There’s no plan,” she replied. “A witness who saw the shopkeeper alive after Ed left came forward.” That sounded convenient, and I wondered if the witness was real or someone that Anthony had put forward to solve the problem. Certainly, the videotape was real, because I couldn’t imagine how Anthony could have faked that, but the witness? Who knew? “So is he being released? Or is...

August 17, 1997, Chicago, Illinois We finished lunch and Marissa and the younger kids went to play, but Natalie sat with the adults to talk, with coffee, tea, or soft drinks. The Sarcus were very comfortable, but the Heaths were still struggling. But, vitally, they hadn’t left and hadn’t insisted Natalie leave the group. “Can you explain how you developed this attitude and approach?” Chris asked. July 1979 — Falkenberg, Sweden On Friday, when I got back from my run, Pam was in her bra and panties again. I whistled at her, she giggled, then finished dressing. I showered, and we went to breakfast and finished up our last day. Once class was done, we were pretty much free. On Saturday, we’d have several optional activities and then on Sunday we’d head back to our host families. After dinner on Friday, I took Pam’s hand and we walked towards the river. It was quiet and peaceful, and...

July 1980, Over the North Atlantic We reached cruising altitude, and I settled back to read my book. Pam raised the armrest between us, snuggled close to me and read as well. After the cabin crew picked up the trays and offered drinks again, they passed once more, offering headsets for the movie. Trevor and Maria took them, but Pam and I didn’t, instead we turned on...

July 8, 1997, Chicago, Illinois “Is it really that surprising?” Leah asked. “I suppose not,” I replied. “I just didn’t read too much into the kiss on the cheek.” “I didn’t think it was a good idea to kiss you on the lips with all those people around, because I had no idea who they were or what they would think. November 8, 1993, Chicago, Illinois A dark fog swirled before my eyes as I tried to take stock. My head hurt, badly. I felt something on my face and realized, dimly, it was an oxygen mask. My right hand was uncomfortable and I recognized the feeling of an IV and pulse-oximeter. My left arm ached fiercely. On my chest I felt the pads and wires of an EKG. I didn’t feel anything else wrong as I continued taking inventory. I tried to open my eyes, but the fog didn’t clear. I tried to speak, but...

August, 1983, Chicago, Illinois In the morning Anala and I ran as we had the previous time, then showered together, carefully washing each other’s bodies in an intimate but non-sexual way. After our shower we went to the kitchen and I made breakfast and we sat down to eat. “Steve, may I make a suggestion?” she asked. “Sure.” “Broaden your circle of friends. He did, and I sat in the usual chair across from him. “She has a real problem, you know that, right?” he asked. “I do.
