August, 1981, Milford, Ohio

Tuesday evening, after our three-way lovemaking session, Jennifer and I dropped Stephanie at home. We’d pick her up in the morning on the way to the airport. Jennifer and I went back to Melanie’s house and sat with Pete and Melanie for a couple of hours. I could tell that Melanie was itching to ask questions, but for once, she controlled herself. That was good because I didn’t think she needed to know anything about what had happened today. When it was time for bed, Jennifer and I went up to our room and shut the door.

“I have to thank you again for today. I can’t believe how much you and your sister love me.”

“I’m glad you realize that, Jen. No matter what happens in the future, we’ll always love you and you’ll always be special to me.”

“I’m still trying to get my head around it. You know how scared and hesitant I was with Melanie, but with your sister, it just felt right and natural and good. I guess, finally, I can admit something to myself.”

“And what’s that?” I asked.

“That I might be better off with a girlfriend than a boyfriend, at least in the short term.”

“You do what you think you need to do that’s best for you. I’ll always be here for you.”

“And you promise that you’ll see me after your trip to Sweden?”

“Yes, Jennifer. I promise. And as I said, you’re welcome to visit me anytime. I know Elyse won’t object. And if you want to bring a girlfriend, or a boyfriend, then by all means, they’ll be welcome as well.”

“I love you so much, Steve! Would you make love to me tonight? Please?”

“I will,” I said with a smile. “You two didn’t wear me out today.”

“No, but that’s the second time you’ve fucked me almost unconscious!”

“I had some help today! Can I ask something?”

“Do I want to make love with your sister in the future? Yes. Will I try to arrange it? Yes.”

“You can still read my mind,” I chuckled.

“Then all hope isn’t lost for us. I know you need to be with Kara and you should be. But all hope isn’t lost. Now, get my clothes off and ravish me! I want it!”

I chuckled, “That’s what you said years ago at your house!”

“Shut up, Steve,” she giggled. “You talk way too much at times!”

I quickly got us both naked, and we made passionate love, ending in glorious orgasms for both of us. It was a fitting end for the day.

We fell asleep in each other’s arms and when we woke up, we kissed softly. We got out of bed, each took a shower, and then got dressed. We packed our things and went down to breakfast. We ate quickly and Jennifer said her goodbyes to Pete, Melanie, and her parents. We both thanked them profusely and then headed over to my house. I was surprised to see Larry there, leaning against his car.

“I couldn’t let Jennifer leave without saying goodbye,” he said.

“Come to the airport with us!” I offered, and he quickly agreed.

My sister came out of the house and we all got into the car and we headed towards Kentucky.

“Mom is on a rampage, Steve. She apparently completely lost it after we left yesterday. I talked to Dad, and he’s going to make sure that they’re out tomorrow during the party, but Mom was refusing to go, saying that she was going to put a stop to the party. Dad told me he’d handle it, but I just wanted to warn you.”

“Thanks, Squirt. She can go straight to hell. Do not pass ‘Go’. Do not collect $200.”

“Jeez, Steve,” Larry said. “That’s harsh.”

“Larry, you missed it,” Stephanie said. “My mom really went over the line the past few weeks. She told Kara’s dad that Kara was a slut; she called Jennifer a slut to her face. It’s just gotten worse and worse. Steve was right to tell her off.”

“Wow! That’s just so sad,” Larry said.

“Let’s just change the subject,” I sighed.

Jennifer and Larry talked about school. I was happy that Jennifer prodded him about electrical engineering, but he was bound and determined to follow his mom’s path of going pre-med. I felt it was a mistake, but I’d made my case with Larry and in the end, I’d leave it to him to decide how to live his life.

At the airport, we looked at the status board to find the correct gate and the four of us went through security. Jennifer’s first leg was to Chicago, where she’d have a short layover and then fly on to Seattle. We waited at the gate for her flight to board, with Stephanie and me each holding one of Jennifer’s hands. When her flight was called, the three of us got up and Jennifer hugged us each in turn. We each got a soft kiss on the lips.

“Call me when you get home, and make sure you do everything we’ve spoken about,” I said.

“I promise!” she said brightly.

I was very happy to see that she wasn’t crying and was in a far better mood. I had no doubts that she’d have ups and downs; I just hoped that the downs wouldn’t be enough to send her into a spiral. All I could do at this point was to be her friend. She had the hard work to do. She walked to the door, turned, waved, blew us a last kiss, then walked down the Jetway.

We waited until the plane was pushed back from the gate, then headed back to my house. Larry got into his car right away and headed home. I grabbed my bag and took it to my room, changed clothes and got out of the house without seeing my mom. I was at Kara’s house by 10:30am.

We sat in the den in our separate chairs. Kara’s mom went upstairs not long after I got there and Kara moved to sit in my lap. She snuggled close and kissed me softly.

“So she’s gone home?” Kara asked.

“Yes. And we parted as very good friends. She has a lot of work to do on her issues, much like I had over the past few years. My concern is that she doesn’t have a support group there like I did here, and she certainly doesn’t have someone like you.”

“Like me?”

“Yes, like you. My little sister and Jennifer both think you’re the best thing that ever happened to me. Stephanie even said I should be with you.”

“But she was always pro-Jennifer! What happened?”

“She realized that you had helped me turn into a much better person than I ever was. I’m not even close to perfect, but my friends think you’ve worked miracles.”

“Me? But what have I done?”

“You’ve held me to a standard. Kept me in line. Made me responsible for my own actions. Bethany was amazed, by the way, at your solution to my past promiscuity.”

“Which solution? Telling you to behave?” she grinned.

“Yes. That simple phrase has made me think more about what I do and who I do it with than anything else. I don’t want to disappoint you, Kara, and that makes ‘behaving’ so important. And it put the onus on me to figure out what that meant and how to meet your standards. Bethany and I have talked a lot about what that means. So have Stephanie and I. It was the perfect thing to do, because it makes me really think about everything.”

“And have you behaved? To my standards?”

“I think so. Stephanie and Bethany certainly do. Do you want details?”

“No. I don’t. You know what I really want, but I know that’s not possible right now.”

“Next Summer. I did promise to see Jennifer when I come back from Sweden. As a friend, mind you, nothing more. In fact, if you want, I’ll take you with me to Seattle if that’s where Jennifer and I meet. We can worry about it in the Spring when I purchase my tickets for Sweden.”

“That makes me feel better. If you’re inviting me to go along, then you and Jennifer really are just friends. I’d love to go with you to Seattle. Heck, I’d love to go with you to Sweden, but I don’t know if that’s even remotely possible.”

“In a sense, Jennifer and I started over from scratch. Everything she and I had in the past was based on deceit, on both our parts, I’m sad to say. I am very, very glad she came here for these few days because it let us get everything on the table and clear the air. I’m at total peace with my relationship with her. My only concern is that she gets the help she really needs.”

Kara sighed, “Thanks be to God!”

I held her tight until we heard her mom coming down the stairs. Kara quickly moved back to her chair, and we continued talking until lunch. We ate lunch, and I was glad that Mrs. Blanchard didn’t press me on Jennifer or Karin. Kara knew what she needed to know, and everything was on track.

“Steve, would you like to stay for dinner?” Mrs. Blanchard asked.

“Yes, that’s fine. Just let me call home and let them know.”

She nodded, and I got up and dialed my own number. Stephanie answered, and I told her I was staying for dinner. She said Mom was still ranting about how I had spoken to her but that Dad had told Stephanie that everything was OK for the party on Friday. I thanked her, told her I loved her, and put the receiver back in the cradle.

“Is everything OK at home?” Mrs. Blanchard asked.

I chuckled, “No, it’s pretty darn far from OK. My mom and I had it out because she called Jennifer a slut.”

“She likes to throw that word around,” Mrs. Blanchard replied, shaking her head. “That was her mistake with my husband. When she called Kara a slut, he became very angry. I suppose Kara told you what I said?”

“Yes. But that’s really not relevant to my situation with Kara.”

“It is from your mom’s point of view,” Mrs. Blanchard said gently.

“True. But in your case, I don’t believe that your husband is being hypocritical. I believe, if pressed, he’d say that what the two of you did was wrong. My mom would never say that. In other words, what she did was fine, but what I did was wrong. That’s pure hypocrisy. If my mom had even once said that what she had done was wrong, that would be a different story.”

“You’re pretty perceptive, Steve. I take it there’s a lot more to your mom’s story than Kara has told me.”

“Yes. I don’t think I’ve told Kara everything. At this point, I can’t remember for sure. But suffice it to say, the problem is hypocrisy. I don’t think your husband is a hypocrite. I actually like him. Sure, we disagree on quite a few things, but I think he’s been a good father to Kara. Now, she’s at a point where she has to make a lot of her own decisions and he struggles with that. I get it. I don’t hold anything against him.

“When he told me Kara couldn’t go to the dance, I didn’t argue with him and I wasn’t angry with him. It was a difference of opinion. Kara wanted to go, and I felt she should be free to decide, but he didn’t. From the beginning, I’ve let Kara set the pace and decide what we do. She’s told you that I delayed giving her what she wanted for as long as I could because I didn’t want to hurt her and I didn’t want her to regret it.

“I know you think we got things out of order in a very serious way. But I don’t. And Kara doesn’t. You seem to accept that we made our decision and now we have to live with it and any consequences. You didn’t do it in a judgmental way, but you made it clear that you disapprove. I respect your opinion, even if I obviously don’t agree with it. What I hope is that someday your husband will see his way clear to accept me. That’s incredibly important because Kara wants me to be his son-in-law.”

“As I said, you’re very perceptive,” she replied. “I think you understand. My husband has some very clear ideas about how the world is supposed to work. You’ve thrown a real monkey wrench into things, and he’s having a difficult time accepting it. He’s afraid you’re going to lead his little girl on a path into hell.”

“That is a great divide between your family and me, one that Kara and I will have to come to grips with if we’re going to marry. I’m an agnostic and don’t have much use for organized religion at this point.”

“Both my husband and I find it amazing how well you know the Scriptures and yet you have such serious doubts. I mentioned to the pastor that you were well versed and that shocked him even more. I think he wants to meet you, though I’m not sure that’s a good idea.”

“I’m not afraid of meeting him, but I agree it’s probably not a good idea.”

Mrs. Blanchard told us to go back into the den while she cleaned up. Kara and I sat and talked for a bit when her mom came in.

“Because Steve’s staying for dinner, I’ll need to go shopping,” Kara’s mom said with a smile. “I’ll be back in about two hours. I expect to find you in those chairs when I get back!”

She turned and left the room, picked up her keys, and went out the front door. As soon as the door shut behind her mom, Kara jumped into my lap.

“Did you plan this with her,” I chuckled.

“No! She asked you to stay, knowing that she’d have to go out shopping if you said ‘yes’.”

“Your mom is the best! She’s letting us say goodbye properly.”

“You think I’m that easy, Steve Adams? That’ll I just go to bed with you at the drop of a hat?”

“Yes! Any hat, in fact!” I chuckled, pushing my fedora off the table next to us and onto the floor.

We went upstairs, laughing, and went to Kara’s room and made love passionately and urgently. We cuddled for a bit, she checked the clock, then pushed me on my back, sucked me until I got hard and rode me until we both came. When we finished, she dragged me to the shower where we washed each other. After we dried ourselves, Kara pulled out a blow dryer, and we both dried our hair.

We made the bed and were back in our chairs ten minutes before her mom came in with two bags of groceries.

“I trust you two were good while I was gone?” she said with a twinkle in her eye.

“Thanks, Mrs. Blanchard. I know the risk you took for us. I really appreciate it.”

“I have no idea what you’re talking about!” she said with a straight face.

She went off to the kitchen to put the groceries away and came back to sit with us.

“In all honesty,” Mrs. Blanchard said, “what’s done is done and can’t be undone. I believe Kara has to make her own choices, and she’s made it clear what she wants. You’ve never hurt her and you’ve always treated her with respect and love. I just hope things work out the way you both want them to.”

She took a deep breath and let it out. Clearly, she had something to ask or say.

“Do you plan to get engaged before Kara moves in with you next Fall?” she asked.

“Mother!” Kara shrieked.

“Kara, honey, your mom knows you better than you know yourself sometimes,” I said. “Yes, Mrs. Blanchard, that’s our plan. When I come back from Sweden, we’ll get engaged. Kara may or may not go to Seattle with me. I promised to see my friend Jennifer, but whether Kara accompanies me or not, after that, she’s going to move in with Elyse and me.”

“That will send my husband right off the edge of the cliff. I only hope you two know what you’re doing and that you make this work. If you get married, I’ll be able to pull him back. If you don’t, well, he’ll disown Kara for sure.”

A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 3 Saying Goodbye Part I

June 1982, Milford, Ohio On Wednesday morning, I once again made breakfast for everyone. Joyce did the dishes after breakfast, and then we all sat in the living room with cups of coffee. The ladies from the church would bring lunch, and around 3:30pm we’d head to the Noakes Funeral Home for the visitation. I dreaded that, because I wasn’t a big fan of being in the same room as a dead body on display. There was just something that creeped me out about the whole idea. But I would be there to...

A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 21 He Will Tell Thee What Thou Shalt Do

July 1982, Milford, Ohio On Tuesday morning, I kissed Kara goodbye and headed to my parents’ house for my usual morning routine with my little sister. She was happy that I could spend the morning with her and asked to take a walk, so we weren’t in the house with my mom. “Let me guess — this walk will end in the clearing,” I said with a smile. “Yes,” she said, taking my hand as we walked down Overlook towards Klondyke. As usual, we turned around and walked back, taking the path to the...

A WellLived Life Book 2 JenniferChapter 53 Goodbyes Part II

June 1979 The second week of Summer school was much like the first — busy. I was doing homework and studying for tests every night. Three things of note happened that week. On Tuesday, Jennie Sanders called me. I told her what had happened with my mom and that my mom suspected us of having sex. I told her exactly what I had said to my mom and left it to her to decide what to say about her reasons. She was a bit upset, but said she could handle it. On Wednesday, Bethany stopped me in the...

October 2, 1987, Chicago, Illinois “Steve?” I heard Elyse call out, just as I finished reading the prayer. “‘Indian’ room,” I answered with a hitch in my voice. “Stephie?” she asked as soon as she saw me. “Yeah,” I nodded, sagging and collapsing into one of the basket chairs. She carefully sat in my lap, putting her arms around my neck. “Are you OK?” “At the moment, yes.” “When?” “Around 1:15pm our time, I guess.” “And the funeral?” “Wednesday. I don’t have a plan yet, but I think...

December 5, 2000, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota “I had a good time last night,” I said. “I was surprised you invited a friend!” Mary laughed as we walked into the exam room, “Naomi had a good time as well. You know what a Resident’s life is like.” I nodded, “No social life.” “Exactly. You guys seemed to hit it off pretty well.” “Yes, but I’m not here for that!” “You’re everywhere for that, and you know it!” I couldn’t help but laugh. “Let’s just say that you hit the sweet spot -...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 5 MichelleChapter 78 Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous Part II

May 15, 1992, Glencoe, Illinois “Join me in my study, if you would,” Noel Spurgeon said when we finished our dessert. It had been an interesting evening. Samantha and I had talked for a bit before we’d been summoned to dinner. The meal had been prepared by a chef and was served by a white-coated young man. Again, this was a far cry from Lois at the van Hoeks’ house. What wasn’t a far cry was the fact that I was having dinner with a man who knew I was going to be sleeping with his daughter...

October 1981, Chicago, Illinois I arrived back at the apartment just before 10:00pm and saw the address for the party. I decided I wasn’t particularly interested in going so I put on some music, poured myself a glass of wine, and started reading more about Russia. I was alternating between the history and culture book and the Communist Party book, decided on the history and culture book for this time. I didn’t get much reading done because I was thinking about Tatyana, which led me to...

June 23, 1994, Oguni, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan My first week in Japan flew by, and a routine developed. Sakurako would wake me; I’d exercise and run, then shower and have breakfast, and share tea with Sakurako. After breakfast, I’d meditate, and then have my training session. After lunch, I’d work in the garden, or, as I had this day, wash the floors in the house. Hiroshi would accompany me back to the cottage and we’d talk while I washed up and dressed for dinner. January 23, 1996, Chicago, Illinois “Father, bless!” I said, greeting Father Basil with upturned palms. “Bless you, Stephen,” he said as I kissed his hand. The waiter showed us to a quiet table along the wall of Roditys in Greektown. He took our drink orders and was back quickly. We placed our food orders right away and he left to put them in with the kitchen. “I’m not quite sure how to address this, so I’m just going to ask you bluntly. CHAPTER 4: AN UNWRITTEN BOOK CHAPTER NOTES: The Shakespeare quote comes from King Lear, Act 4 Scene 1. TV21 was a comic popular during the late 1960s. Many of its stories featured Gerry Anderson creations such as Stingray, Thunderbirds and Fireball XL5. Kali (pronounced 'kay-lie') was originally a powdered sherbert into which you dipped a moistened finger. In north-east England it came to mean any kind of cheap sweets - penny chews, liquorice sticks and so on. Another local...

January, 1985, Chicago, Illinois I arrived back in Hyde Park about ten minutes before the end of the Super Bowl. It didn’t look like it had been much of a contest, given that the score was 38-16, with San Francisco trouncing Miami. I grabbed a Coke and some chips and sat down on the couch next to Julia and Dave. June 1977 When I got home, I grabbed a Coke and some chips and went right to my room. I didn’t think I could deal with my parents or Jeff or Stephanie. I just needed to be by myself. That wouldn’t seem odd to anyone, because I often went to my room to read. In addition, I now had the TV I’d received for my birthday. I flipped it on to WXIX Channel 19 and reruns of Gilligan’s Island and Green Acres played in the background while I read. I had to get my mind clear for the final exams that...

July, 1983, Chicago, Illinois I woke up early on the First of July, because my body clock was still set to Swedish time. The flight back had been long but uneventful, and I was happy that the businessman in the seat next to me hadn’t wanted to talk. August, 1984, Chicago, Illinois The rest of the week proceeded as expected - class on Wednesday, as well as the usual visit from Penny, work on Thursday, and class on Friday. Kara and I had lunch together at IIT, Sofia practiced her driving and parking, and I hung out with Mark Agnini after class for beers. Staci and I got into a couple of interesting debates about the Old Testament that Mark had to break up to allow others in the class to participate. She was very much of the ‘directly...

A WellLived Life 3 Book 1 SuzanneChapter 7 Reaching the Peak

March 25, 2000, Chicago, Illinois “What time do I need to have you home?” “8:00pm will be fine,” Misty replied. “My parents are in Normal visiting my brother at Illinois State. They aren’t supposed to be home before 10:00pm.” Misty and I were in my car on the way to the NIKA apartment which, fortunately, was not being used. With our expansion, it was in more or less regular use, and that meant I didn’t have access to it as often as I would have liked. I was glad there had been a delay in...

Sins from my Stepmother Book 1 Ch 15

I My name is Teddy Carlson. I’m twenty-two years old and I fucked my stepmother. Not just once in some momentary lapse of judgement. But again and again…and again. Before you judge me, there’s a few things you need to understand. First, Dad and I never exactly got on like a house on fire. He was the CIO of a large hedge fund which meant that he wasn’t around much. He travelled to Europe regularly and commuted during the week to Manhattan for meetings. When he was home, he was either...

A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 7 Setting the Course of My Life

June 1977 Friday ended up being a non-event. The more I thought about it, the more I was sure that there was no way on this earth I could say what happened between Birgit and me was a sin. Calling it a sin would debase it into a meaningless act. I could never do that. And the more I thought about Jennie McGrath, the more sure I was that I couldn’t call what she did for me a sin, either. If the church was right, I was going to hell. And frankly, there was no way that could be true. So I...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 3 JessicaChapter 20 It Happened One Night

January 17, 1989, Chicago, Illinois “What time do you have to leave this morning?” Kara asked as we showered together on Tuesday morning. “About 8:30am,” I said. “I’m driving over to get Jeri, then heading to O’Hare. We have an 11:00am flight. Assuming all goes well, we’ll be in the office by 3:00pm Pacific time. We’ll spend a couple hours going over the software then go to dinner. The demo is tomorrow. Our flight back on Thursday leaves LA at 11:00am, so we’ll be home by 8:00pm, I...

May 14, 1997, Chicago, Illinois “Start talking!” Melanie demanded when I sat down in her office about an hour later. “There isn’t much to say. Katya found the information for me when I asked her to look into several things about Brandon Littleton, Kevin Lomax, and John Milton.” “Do you know more about him?” “A LOT more. I don’t think you want to know.” “Probably not, but I’m your criminal defense attorney, and even though San Antonio doesn’t have you involved in this, you know the CPD...

The Three Signs Book 2 LoriChapter 28 Live at the Lifesaver

“So, how should we do these Stone’s songs?” Phil asked at our rehearsal session. “I think we all know the music, we just need to come up with a pretty awesome arrangement; we don’t want to sound like yet another cheap cover band.” “I had some ideas, if it’s okay for me to make some suggestions,” Allison said. “Of course it is,” Phil said. “Everyone can have a say, there’s no rule that says you can’t participate in the discussion.” “Thanks, Phil, I guess being the newest here, I’m a bit...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 5 MichelleChapter 77 Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous Part I

May 11, 1992, Chicago, Illinois Monday was turning out to be a LONG day. After my run and talk with Gina, and my talk with Elyse, I had a full day at the office scheduled. First was our leadership meeting in the morning, and then I had status meetings with each team. At lunch I’d gone to see Siobhán and explained that I was going to break off the sexual relationship, but that I wanted to remain friends. She was disappointed, but admitted that Thursday would have been the last time, since she...

October 5, 1992, Chicago, Illinois “Hi, Tiger! I missed you!” “Hi, Babe!” We hugged and kissed more than we normally did when we met at the ER after her shift, then she hugged and kissed Kara, and the three of us started our walk home. “How was San Francisco?” Jessica asked. “Good. The User Group meeting went very well, I saw my old boss and professor, Scott Bannerman, and Bethany and I had a lot of time to talk.” “If all you did with her is talk, I’m not sure I want to go back to the...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 3 JessicaChapter 23 So Now You Turn Back Into Diana Prince

January 19, 1989, En-Route from LAX to ORD When the engines of the plane started, Jeri reached over and took my hand. She held it while we pushed away from the gate, and taxied for takeoff. Her grip tightened a bit as we hurtled down the runway, but nothing like the death grip she’d had on my arm for the flight out. The plane roared its way into the air and once we leveled out, Jeri’s grip loosened but she didn’t let go of my hand. “How are you doing?” I asked with a touch of...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 16 A Southern Belle a Surprise Proposal two Cheerleaders an Old Flame and a Girl Back Home Part I

October 1981, Chicago, Illinois I went to my room, closed the door and dialed my old number in Milford and Stephanie answered. “Hi, Stephanie!” “Hey, Big Bro! How’s Chicago?” “Pretty good. A lot of stuff is happening. But I have a favor to ask. Well, really, it’s a favor from Ed. I’m coming home this weekend and I was wondering if I could borrow the keys to the apartment.” “You and Kara? On Saturday? I’m sure the answer is yes. Where are you staying?” “I was going to call Mrs. Spencer...

A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 34 Old Routines and New Ideas

September 1982, Chicago, Illinois The weekend was quiet and besides homework, I worked on the program changes for Frank, called Karin, Tatyana, and Kara, and hung out with my usual study group. Monday was refreshingly normal. On Tuesday morning, I handed Katy my completed intake form. She put it in an envelope and stuck it in her bag. She said she’d let me know soon about the interview. On Tuesday afternoon, after having lunch with Stephie, I made my rounds and then I headed over to Sigma...

October 1982, Chicago, Illinois The drive back to Chicago was as uneventful as usual, and I arrived at the apartment just before 6:00pm. When I arrived, Elyse and Stephie were sitting on the couch and Jackie was sitting on the loveseat. Stephie hopped up as I opened the door and greeted me with a hug and a kiss. “Hi, Peaches!” I said. “Glad you’re home, Yankee!” “Hi, Steve,” Elyse and Jackie both said. “Hey,” I replied. “How was the weekend?” “Well, it was just Kurt with me, Stephie,...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 6 SamanthaChapter 20 Get Thee to a Nunnery

September 4, 1992, Chicago, Illinois “These are really interesting pieces,” I said to Siobhán. Kimmy, Elyse, and I were reviewing the two completed pieces that she’d done as examples of what the series would look like. “You don’t like them?” Siobhán asked pensively. “No, I do! Why would you think I didn’t?” “Usually when someone says ‘interesting’ about abstract art it means they don’t like it.” “Sorry, in this case I meant it. Maybe ‘intriguing’ would have been a better word.” She...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 8 NIKAChapter 68 The Rules

June 29, 1995, Chicago, Illinois On Thursday, I finally had lunch with Melissa again, something I hadn’t been looking forward to. Much like with Cèlia, Melissa and I had passed an inflection point and I was left with sub-optimal paths forward. I’d been struggling with the possible solutions, and all of them had pitfalls. When I walked into Takumi, I had something of a plan. Whether it was good or not would only be known once everything played out. “I spoke to my wives,” I said after we’d...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 3 JessicaChapter 52 Lifestyle Choices

June 11, 1989, Chicago, Illinois It was just after 3:00am when I kissed Trish goodbye. She’d been an enthusiastic, energetic, and adventurous lover. We’d done just about anything either of us could think of, though her breasts weren’t large enough for a tit-fuck. The last time had been in the shower where we’d ostensibly gone to clean up afterwards, but instead I ended up taking her from behind as she leaned against the wall of the shower. “I think I’ll have you again, Steve Adams,” she...

A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 38 Freshman Year Ends

May 1978 The first couple of weeks in May were busy with school, work, and friends. Except for Becky, I didn’t even have any dates. But I was OK with that. Well, almost OK. I wanted to see Anna, but it likely wasn’t going to happen until school was out. I had tutoring sessions with Melanie, but she still wouldn’t talk to me about anything other than Spanish. Barely a hello. I was grateful for the tutoring, but it was maddening seeing my friend this way. I hoped someday she could understand...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 44 Spring Break 1982 Part I

March, 1982, Milford, Ohio As I drove along I-65, I thought about what Stephanie had asked for and what Bethany had said without even knowing about the request. Of course, because Bethany and I were so in tune, she might have actually had an idea that I was struggling with getting involved with my sister again. I kept turning it over and over in my mind and I kept coming to the same conclusion — that I shouldn’t do it. I was torn between doing what Stephanie wanted and doing what Kara and...

You were messing with me, weren’t you?” She grabbed both my hands and smiled, “I was telling the truth, in my own way. August 15, 2000, Chicago, Illinois “Whoa!” Cynthia declared, as she turned the pages in The New Joy of Sex. “All these positions! I want to try them!” She was paging through the section of the book which had lots of illustrations. “Wait!” she gasped, as she turned the page. “Bondage? Whoa! He has her tied to the bed!” “That might be fun,” I grinned. “And then I can tie YOU to the bed?” she asked with a silly smirk. “I suppose turn-about is fair play.” “And threesomes?” “That might not...

March 1980, Hovås/Göteborg, Sweden I woke early as usual, but just enjoyed being in bed with Katt. When she woke, she hopped out of bed and pulled a robe out of her closet and handed it to me. “There’s a spare toothbrush in the bathroom. Go have your shower, then we’ll have breakfast after I have my shower.” I quickly showered and brushed my teeth, and went back to Katt’s room. She went to shower and came back a few minutes later. October 29, 2000, Chicago, Illinois Birgit followed me as far as the stairs, then scooted upstairs when I went to the front door and opened it. “Hi!” Sophie said. “Hi!” I replied and held the door open so she could come into the house. I closed the door behind her then led her to my study where I waited until she went in, and then walked in, closing the door behind me. August, 1983, Chicago, Illinois I walked in the near 90°F heat to Carla’s place. I was grateful that the humidity of the morning had dropped significantly; otherwise the heat would have been unbearable. By the time I walked up the steps to the apartment over the photography studio and knocked on her door, I had broken into a light sweat. Carla answered almost immediately and invited me inside her studio apartment. The air was moderately cool, and the window air conditioner was running full...

March 13, 1994, Chicago, Illinois “Hi, Steve!” Ailea said when she opened the door. “Hi,” I replied, accepting the offered hug. There was no touching of lips, just of cheeks, and I wondered if I’d misread her intentions at her birthday lunch, or if, perhaps, she detected my reluctance to return the offered affection. “Lunch is ready, so go ahead and sit. I’ll bring it in from the kitchen.” I went to the low table, sat down, and a minute later, Ailea brought miso soup and sushi, our usual...
