I am now the Multiverse’s Ambassador to Earth.

It is my responsibility and mission to ensure Earth joins the Multiverse with a minimum of difficulties.

Now, all I have to do is figure out how to accomplish that mission!

I like the people of Earth, and do not want them harmed by the Multiverse taking over their planet. I doubt the Multiverse Government would force itself on Earth, but, I suspect the Guilds will push to open trade with Earth at too fast of a pace, and I will need to resist their pressure. When that happens, the Multiverse will have to intervene. If I fail to do my job properly, they will most likely intervene on the side of the Guilds, and the Multiverse is too large and too powerful for the governments and people of Earth to resist successfully. However, I suspect Earth’s commercial firms would welcome them warmly.

I know that Earth’s governments and people would object to strangers coming into their lives and telling them that they have to change their lifestyles. This objection would most likely take the form of violence. That seems to be the typical response of Earth’s people. What I want is a non-violent merger, and all I need is a good plan to accomplish that. My position means that the Multiverse will support me in implementing almost any plan that will accomplish the goal within a reasonable period of time, especially a plan that does not lead to violence. Without a viable plan and without progress toward the goal of Earth joining the Multiverse, the Multiverse will support the Guilds. I figure that I will be given at least ten years for Earth’s attitude about Multiverse membership to stabilize. Then I will be given at least another ten years to show a shift in Earth’s attitude toward the Multiverse. After that, I’m not sure what will happen.

The people of Earth feel very strongly about their independence. They would have a very hard time accepting the Multiverse coming in and taking over. I will need to gradually lead them to the idea that joining the Multiverse will be a good thing for them. I will need to introduce that idea very slowly, although I think Matt already suspects that that’s one of my goals.

I had trouble focusing on developing a plan for opening Earth. My mind kept drifting to the risks my job as Ambassador will create for my ladies, future staff, and me. I suppose my subconscious mind was saying that subject needed my immediate attention. Okay, I’ll deal with that subject first.

The people of Earth were about to learn that aliens were living amongst them. I expect both positive and negative reactions. They will also come to understand what my presence signifies. I believe that most of the people will accept my presence; and, in time, they will want to join the Multiverse. Unfortunately, some will be opposed to my presence and to joining the Multiverse for a variety of reasons. Those who will oppose me are a major worry, and a few of them will become a threat to the safety of my associates and me.

I need to talk with an architectural firm about designing and building my home and Embassy. When I discuss it with them, I need to make it clear that there will be a long-term threat to my safety. I am thinking of combining my home and Embassy into a single building, and I will have the architectural firm design that building as a fortress disguised as a large palatial mansion.

“Ladies, gather around for a moment! I have a job for you.

“I will hire an architectural firm shortly to design us a new home. I am thinking of combining the Embassy and our home into the same building. What I need from the four of you is ideas about the features we will need to design into it to make it a comfortable and safe haven for us.

“There will be people that resent and fear us. They may use violence against us, so we will need an automated defense system to defend our home and ourselves. I will consult with a security specialist for that need. We will install Multiverse equipment and technology in the building. But what do we need and want?

“We need to consider the differences between the people of Earth and us. For example, there are minor physical differences between them and us. Do we need special medical care and equipment? If so, what do we need? We will be building a very large house and it will have an extensive staff. We need to identify the types and numbers of people needed and to include facilities to support them and their families. Will they live in the house with us? We need to plan for an adequate number of bedrooms or build separate homes for them. We will probably need some entertainment facilities also, since they will undoubtedly have kids; and, in time, so will we.

“Each of you will need things for your area of specialty, but don’t forget what you want personally. For example, Betty will need kitchen appliances, dishes, pots and pans, and culinary tools. But I think she will also need grooming equipment, a computer, entertainment equipment, and anything else that will make her life easier and give her pleasure. I expect each of you to provide me with a list of what you need and want.

“I want the four of you to give this matter your undivided attention and provide me with a list of conclusions as to what needs to be added to the house. We need this list as soon as possible so we can review it and have a final list ready for the architects.”

My ladies had a brief whispered conversation. Rita said, “Master, we feel that it would be helpful for us to have the use of a computer now. It would help us to accomplish the things that you are asking us to do.”

“You’re right, Rita. I have a portable computer upstairs that you can use for this task. We can get more equipment on our next trading trip. As part of this task, I want you to identify the computer equipment and programs that we will need immediately and the equipment we will need to install in the house at a future time.”

The ladies left to begin their task. I sat there thinking. I suspect this house is going to be immense, if it is to house everyone. It may be better to provide separate buildings for our staff’s homes. We need to locate our house away from the local built-up areas. If I designate it as our Embassy, I might be able to obtain a long-term lease from the government on a portion of the National Forest. As an Embassy, I should be allowed to install defensive armaments. I may also be able to bypass most of the red tape I heard about when it comes to building a new structure.

I needed to give this subject more thought before my next trading trip. I could hear the women talking about their task and I could hear Cindy using the voice interface to enter information into the computer.

This task was now underway and my mind was more at ease, so I decided to restart my evaluation of how to open Earth. One of the things I had not done during my initial evaluation was to do a detailed comparison of Earth and a typical Multiverse planet. My instincts were that this would be very helpful to me in clarifying the problems with my planning.

I was most familiar with my home planet and considered it to be well within the norm of typical for the Multiverse. After considerable thought, I realized that if I disregarded the technological differences, the main difference between Earth and Vora was the structure and function of government.

The Multiverse Trade Association (MTA) and the Trade Guilds were the organizations that controlled the Multiverse. Individually the planets had governments and the purpose of each government was to regulate and control their respective planet. However, in doing this, the individual planet’s government worked very closely with the MTA and the Trade Guilds. Like most citizens of my home planet, I knew that the pace of commerce had to flow smoothly on the planet for the citizens of the planet to live comfortably in a pleasant environment. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that my home planet was controlled by its commercial factions with the citizens, government, police, courts, and other government agencies supporting the commercial entities. This was considered proper for when the commercial factions ran smoothly, they took care of their employees and the whole population benefited. At least that’s the mantra that I was raised to believe and what appeared to be the basis of Vora’s social structure.

Earth is not governed by a single government. The governments consider each other as competitors not allies with some governments being very hostile toward others. Although, the governments would work together when necessary, the governments didn’t function for the good of their citizens. The powerful people in the governments seemed to be self-serving, and in most cases, they were corrupt; at least by Multiverse standards. Commerce has a large say in controlling the governments, often by manipulating or bribing the officials. Citizens are ineffective in bringing about change for they do not realize what is wrong with their society and how to change it. Some citizens are ruthlessly controlled by their governments, and some of the governments imprison or execute citizens who resist government control.

I needed outside help! It seemed as if my answer was somewhere in a complex quagmire of seemingly contradictory political power plays. It occurred to me that there were people in the MTA and Trading Guilds that had dealt with similar situations and that their experiences might be helpful. If they didn’t have the answer I needed, they would be a very useful resource in developing an answer. I decided my trading trip had to take place as soon as I could arrange it. I would take all of the ladies for I would be away for an extended time, and when I returned, I hoped to have the answer to my problems.

We continued working on our tasks for the rest of the day. I made notes to myself on the factors that would affect my mission on Earth. Betty went in the house to make dinner, but the other ladies continued their task.

After dinner, Carol and Cindy cleaned up the kitchen. Betty, Rita, and I went over the lists of things we needed for the house. I added a few items to it that I had thought of earlier. Eventually we ended up going to bed, each to our respective bedroom, for I was too tired for a visitor. I suspected that the ladies were also too tired to visit.

After breakfast the next morning, I called Matt. “Hey, Matt, I am interested in obtaining a long-term lease on a tract of land in the National Forest. I will go over it in more detail when we meet next week, but during the trading trip, I was officially appointed to the position of Ambassador to Earth. I am thinking about building a very large home on the land I lease and declaring it the Multiverse’s Embassy. Whom should I speak to about leasing the land, and which architectural firm should I have design the Embassy?

“Morning, Doug, we were talking about you just the other day. Bill and Sue told us about their trip and the adventures the three of you had. I have to tell you that having three Slaves here on Earth is going to cause you problems. When you make it known that you are from off planet and an official representative of your government, things are going to hit the fan.”

I realized I had been so involved in my needs that I had failed to observe the proper social intercourse pattern, and I suspected this was Matt’s way of telling me I had been inconsiderate.

“As far as the lease goes, I can call Ken at the State Department and speak with him. He will need to know how much land and where. I am not that familiar with architectural firms, but I’ve heard that the HRD Architectural Group in downtown Denver is a large firm that has a good reputation for completing large design projects on schedule.”

“Thanks, Matt. I’m sorry for being so abrupt, and I do appreciate your help. I don’t have an area in mind nor any idea of how much land I’ll need, but I will let you know. I’ll let you get back to HS business, while I call the architects for an appointment.”

The phone book gave me the telephone number of the HRD Architectural Group, so I called them to see if they would be interested in my project.

“HRD Architectural Group, Karen speaking. How can we help you today?”

“Good morning. I am interested in having a rather large mansion designed and would like to arrange for an appointment to speak with someone about the project.”

“Yes, Sir, I can arrange for you to speak with one of our architects. If you will give me the general details of what you wish designed, I can set up an appointment.”

“I would be happy to do that, but I’m not sure of everything that will be needed. The mansion will not only be my home but it will also serve as the office for my government’s representatives. I will be hosting large and small events for my government. I want to build it in a rural area and my guests may need to stay for the night.

“I am thinking of about forty bedrooms with dedicated bathrooms. We will also need about ten bathrooms in the public areas, a commercial kitchen, a laundry area, a formal dining room, a ballroom, an exercise facility, an office-study for me, ten offices for my staff, a meeting room, and other rooms that I haven’t identified yet. I will want outbuildings for a twenty-car garage, maintenance facilities, a utility equipment room, and a secure storage area. Is that enough for a start?”

“Yes, Sir, that gives me a good idea of the size of the project. If you will hold on for a few moments, I will check to see which of our senior architects are available.”

A few minutes later Karen came back on the line and connected me to Mister William Chambers.

“Good morning, Mister Smith, I am William Chambers. I don’t care for Will, so my associates call me William.”

“Good morning, William. I go by Doug, and I assume Karen filled you in on the scope of the mansion I want built. I have some other details to share with you, but they are extremely sensitive so I can’t address them over the phone. If possible, could we get together today or tomorrow to discuss the full nature of the project?”

“My calendar is open today, Doug. I can meet you at your convenience.”

“How does one this afternoon sound to you?”

“That will be good. Is there anything else that HRD can do for you?”

“Yes, there is. There are a number of things about me and the project that I will need to disclose to you that must remain a secret. Would you be willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement?”

“That will be fine with me. I will have our lawyer and one of our partners join us to execute the agreement. Will there be anything else?”

“No, that will do for now. I’ll see you at one o’clock. Goodbye.”

Now I needed to call Matt, again. I needed a lawyer, and it would probably be a good idea for Matt to be with me also.

“Matt, this is Doug, again. I talked with HRD and I have an appointment at one. I will need to tell the architect certain things about the project and me, which I want to be kept secret. He agreed to sign a non-disclosure agreement, but I need one prepared by a lawyer. Do you have any suggestions?”

“I was about to call you. I was thinking about what would be involved and realized that you might get into certain security issues. I suggest you come down to the office now, Doug. I will brief one of our lawyers as to the situation, and have him prepare the paperwork. The lawyer and I can go out to lunch with you, and to the appointment afterwards. There is no telling what could come up in such a situation.”

“Alright, Matt, my ladies and I will see you as soon as we can get there. Bye.”

I called my ladies together and told them we had a business meeting to attend and had to leave as soon as possible. We all headed to our bedrooms to change into suitable clothes.

By ten o’clock that morning, the five of us were seated in Matt’s office. The ladies introduced themselves to Matt using the introduction phrases I had taught them. They had been making good progress on learning English. Before we left Vora, Mom had bought each lady a sleep learning machine. I had been making speech chips of commonly used English phrases with Trade Speak translations. Thank God, for moms who take care of their adult kids.

Matt introduced us to the HS lawyer, Phillip Ahmed.

Matt said, “Phil used a Non-Disclosure Agreement template and tailored it with the necessary details for what I think you need to tell the architects.”

Phil extended a piece of paper in my direction. As I took it, I said, “Thanks, Phil. I really appreciate your effort.”

After reading through it, I said, “This looks okay to me.”

“There is more,” Matt said. “If you remember, much of what they will need to know has been classified Top Secret by the Senator during the meeting. Your architects will also need to sign a Classified Information Nondisclosure Agreement and be briefed.”

“I don’t understand, Matt. I will be presenting my Ambassadorial credentials within a month or so. I don’t see the need for the secrecy.”

“That’s something else we need to discuss, Doug. For now, accept that I believe you need to wait for a bit before announcing your presence. There are some very sensitive events happening in the world, which I will explain later, and Ken said the State Department thinks those events make this a very bad time to introduce you to the world.”

“Matt, I am willing to wait, but a long delay is likely to cause me severe problems. After we finish at HRD, I want you to explain the need for the delay. Then we can contact Ken to discuss how I can comply with his request; and at the same time, prevent the problems that I believe a delay will create for me.”

Before leaving for lunch, I called HRD to let them know that I would be accompanied by six associates.

Lunch was interesting, for my four ladies had reached the point where they could eat bread and other foods that had low sugar content. We had lunch at an omelet café. During lunch, I informed Matt that I would be leaving for another trading trip in the near future. I told him to talk it over with his wife, and if he and his wife would like to go with us, we could discuss it after our meeting next week.

Opening Earth Part 3Chapter 10

After a leisurely breakfast the next morning, Betty, Misty, and their helpers set up an area to work on the translation. While they were busy doing that, Cindy, Kendrick, I, and our bodyguards left to go to the Guild Office. We only had a short trip to get to our destination, and when we arrived, we went directly to the reception area of Guild Master Kevin Moore’s office. My bodyguards insisted on checking the area before I entered, which alerted Ann Tinny, Kevin’s secretary, to my arrival....

Opening Earth Part 1Chapter 3

I was expecting Bill to arrive early the next morning, so I left the door ajar. When I heard a knock on my hotel room door, I called out, “Come on in, Bill.” Bill walked into my room with an attractive woman by his side, and she seemed a little uneasy. Bill said, “Doug, this is my wife Susan. Sue, this is Doug.” Sue offered her hand to me and said, “It’s nice to meet you, Doug. Yesterday, Matt and Bill told me about you and since you are going house hunting today, Matt thought that a...

Opening Earth Part 1Chapter 8

After leaving Guild Master Moore’s office and returning to the hotel, Matt and I learned that our ladies weren’t back yet. We left them a note, so they would know we had gone to the hotel’s swimming pool and the note suggested that they join us. The pool was nice. The only problem was the large number of kids made it difficult to swim laps. Matt and I decided to just relax and enjoy the water. We also participated in that male bonding activity commonly known as girl watching, until our...

Opening Earth Part 2Chapter 12

During our ride to the Archer Conglomerate Headquarters, I noticed that Sandy turned her comm unit off. It had chimed three times, so turning it off seemed to be a wise move. I didn’t comment on it as it was evident she didn’t want to speak with her mother. Our driver dropped us off at the front entry and he went to park the limousine in the visitor parking area. The line at the front desk was short, and our driver had rejoined us by the time it was our turn to obtain help from the...

I knocked on the doorframe of Abby’s office. She looked up and motioned me in. As I pulled one of her visitor’s chairs to the front of her desk, I thought we needed to get something more comfortable to sit in. Then I recalled the staff meeting where Sue suggested plain metal chairs for visitors. They were okay for short visits, but sitting in one for too long was uncomfortable. Sue said that she found the uncomfortable chairs got rid of visitors quickly, so she could get back to her work. We...

Acknowledgments: I decided to locate Doug’s Embassy about halfway between Greeley and Fort Morgan, Colorado. The site I selected for the story’s fictitious ranch has the property’s southern boarder overlapping the northern portion of the Riverside Reservoir. I know nothing about the property or the surrounding area. Some of the information contained in this story may appear to be accurate, but any resemblance to reality is pure chance. After breakfast the next morning, we said our goodbyes to Sereine, Coral, and Sto. Sereine would deliver her report to Carl on Vora and check on the availability of police officers, who could staff the checkpoint on Earth. Then she would be taking Coral to Toomby for a prenatal checkup; Sto was going to support Coral. Sereine expected to return in a week, but she told us to not hold our breaths. It’s nice to see I am not the only one who is learning and using Earth slang. However, it must...

The estate was not equipped to handle the number of people in my party. So, once we arrived, Edgar made a call to a local hotel that was owned by the Archer Conglomerate. He finalized his prior room arrangements for my bodyguards and their family members. He also arranged for D-Hoppers to take a number of my people to their home planets, so they could visit with their friends and other family members. He made the arrangements to get them to Vora for the wedding at the same time. While Edgar...

During the remainder of the week, and the weekend, I dealt with the various matters that my staff brought to my attention. I skim read the procedure for determining a currency exchange rate. Most of it addressed financial considerations that were not familiar to me, and I was definitely not qualified to address those considerations. I would have to turn it over to Kendrick and my financial support group. Once I finished that familiarization process, I decided to begin writing the document...

After breakfast the next day, I rode the transit tube to Cinnity to meet with Sereine instead of hopping. I needed time to get my thoughts in order prior to my meeting with Sergei. I also needed to give the meeting with my future security team some consideration. Most people objected to the minor sensation of bouncing and swaying that was induced into the tube by its high-speed passage through minor air turbulence. Personally, I enjoyed it and found it to be relaxing. So sitting on the tube...

The family meeting was scheduled to start at ten. So the next morning, we all had a late breakfast and I hopped us back to my parents’ home. When we arrived, everyone was there except for one of my uncles. He wasn’t responding to Dad’s comms, so we weren’t sure if he was coming. Mom was chairing the meeting and she said we should start without him. Mom started the meeting by defining its purpose. She then had Dad present the status of the new company that the family had formed to do business...

“This obstacle called the Gentic Belt”. Benni explained to Zax, “It encircles the planet, like a very long belt, and can only be safely crossed through the Emerald Cross, on an equipped vessel. Imagined it as the sole punch hole on this large belt”. The girl was very patient and the closeness she maintained to Zax signaled the development of a certain interest. “The buckle is where we’re heading, the Earthly Crater, there- Eh, look! The eruption is finally over”. She pointed at the wall of...

I had Twixted ahead to reserve a room at the Timson Luxury Hotel, as we usually did when I visited Maribel in Timson before leaving the estate. Matt and I were up early the next morning for we knew Yarl and his crew were eager to complete the installation and get back to Vora. Cindy was right about us needing a bank. My idea of, me becoming a middleman for my people making deposits to and withdrawals from their Multiverse banks was a stopgap measure that would suffice, but only for a short time. It had been a long and tiring trip back to Earth. The seasons were changing on our layover planets, so we had rain, snow, and temperature extremes to contend with on the different planets. We all agreed that we didn’t care for sitting on a planet in a hundred and two degree heat, and then hopping to our next layover and arriving in the middle of a blizzard and minus twelve-degree cold; the wind chill factor made it worse. I really needed to get a travel shelter. Harry had told me the...

While returning to Earth, I had a great deal of time to think about my past activities on Earth, and the changes that my new position would require in regard to my relations with the people of Earth. A strong pungent odor burned Zax's respiratory system through his nostrils and rose to his brain, the body organ which contained the soul. Zax woke up from the smell, but when his eyes opened what he saw was foreign. All he could see as he stared above was the ground as the ceiling and a dim light illuminating from somewhere. The last imagery that Zax could remember was the earth he was lying on splitting and a black shadow, like a long and thick whip, moving quickly out of the cracks,...

I was lying between two lovely pregnant women, and I had no plans for getting out of bed until it was absolutely necessary. As usual, my bladder told me it was necessary and I reluctantly got out of bed. When I made it out into the dining room for coffee, Edgar let me know Kendrick had commed, and he had returned the comm to let him know I was out of bed. Kendrick showed up an hour later, and at the...

Opening Earth Part 1Chapter 16

Matt, Bill, Sue, and I were waiting for Aaron when we heard a knock at the door. Rita answered the door. “Good afternoon, I’m Aaron McCaul. Is Doug Smith available?” “Yes, please come in.” Rita’s English was getting better, especially the standard phrases we use in our interpersonal communications. Aaron and a woman in her mid-thirties came into the room. “Doug, this is Miss Abby White. Abby, this is Mister Doug Smith. “It’s nice to meet you, Mister Smith.” “And it’s my pleasure to meet...

Opening Earth Part 3Chapter 9

I timed our departure from Timson so we would arrive at Mister Tam’s home on Halpern late in the morning. I did so for I knew we had to be at the Tam home before mid-afternoon to confirm our hotel reservations and we didn’t want to arrive too early. We arrived in the portion of his backyard that he had previously designated as our arrival area. It didn’t take the Tam family long to usher all of us into their home. Our party was too large for them to accommodate us in their six-bedroom house,...

Opening Earth Part 2Chapter 14

“Those are the main points that Maribel and I discussed, Kevin, and here are your copies of my replies to the questions that her committee sent you over the past year or so,” I said. “Maribel said that for the next year or two, she will have future questions routed to you, and will expect me to reply through you. That will change once I have a Twixt System in place. Maribel and I did this first set of responses to her questions this way, so we could work out any problems between the two of...

Opening Earth Part 3Chapter 3

For Alma Walcott it was all in a day’s job as a freelance stringer. She started her day on the phone by calling her normal news sources, but it was an unusually unproductive day for news. Then she called her contact in the Sheriff’s office. To ensure confidentiality, she never used her real name when dealing with someone she had registered with her paper as a confidential informant. She was always Sheila and her informant was either Bob or Babs. Her contacts were aware of this duplicity, but...

Opening Earth Part 2Chapter 8

From Vora it was only one hop to First Stop. Since we were now based on Slave World, we needed to consider a different planet as our point of arrival and departure. It didn’t make much sense to make three hops to and from Slave World when that would be our first stop. A planet along the route we used to travel between Slave World and Vora would be a better First Stop planet, as it was not commonly used as a rest stop by other D-Hoppers. I would discuss that with Sereine during our return to...

Opening Earth Part 2Chapter 4

Arriving at the Archer home, Doug rang the doorbell. “Good morning, I’m Doug Smith. This is my Administrative Assistant Cindy Smith, and my lawyer, Kendrick Jones. We have an appointment with Mrs. Archer. Is she available?” “Yes, sir. Mrs. Archer is expecting you. Please come in and I will show you to the sitting room, and let Mrs. Archer know you are here.” The sitting room was a nicely furnished and pleasant place to meet with someone. I decided that I would like to have a small meeting...

Kendrick and I were talking and he said, “The Judge outsmarted the media. The case number and parties associated with the case, have to be posted for at least one hour prior to a hearing. Normally, the case number and all of the main parties are listed in the posting. He listed the case number and your name followed by the phrase ‘and others’, which satisfied the requirement of the law. The media expected the Archer family’s name to be listed. Since it wasn’t, the majority of the media missed...

“Are you ready to go, Doug?” “Go where, Bill?” “To put in another order for vehicles. You were going to put me on your calendar for a vehicle shopping trip.” “Sorry, Bill, I forgot to tell Cindy. I can’t think of anyone I was to meet with today. Let me check my calendar  ah, yes, I have the rest of today clear; except for my regular tasks, which I can put off until later. I was talking with Matt about this, so will we need him and when did you want to go?” “Matt told me that as far as...

Opening Earth Part 1Chapter 19

I was awakened at two in the morning by the siren alert of my comm unit. Someone had sent me a Twixt, and had flagged it as urgent. By the time I got to my comm unit, my eyes were open far enough for me to read the message. The message read, ‘Urgent you and Abby return to my office at once, Kevin Moore.’ I went down the hall and knocked on Abby’s bedroom door. When she said to come in, I opened the door, and said, “You need to get up and dress. We need to leave for Vora as soon as we can. I...

I needed to talk with Matt, Bill, and Sue about presenting my credentials and a few other things. “Matt? Doug, here.” “Hi, Doug, what’s up?” “I’ve finished the immediate things that I had to do. Do you have time to go over the arrangements for my presenting my credentials?” “Yes, when do you want to do it?” “I’m still at the ranch. We should be back at my home, shortly. Let’s meet there in two hours.” “See you then, Doug. Bye.” “Hello, Sue, Doug. Matt is going to be at my place in two...

Opening Earth Part 1Chapter 14

The media had gotten word that my entourage was staying at the Trinity Hotel in Cinnity. They had staked out the hotel’s ground-level entrance and the landing pad on the roof. The only way my people could come and go undetected was for Sereine to hop them in and out of the hotel. Since her ability to hop was limited by her recovery time, it was very inconvenient for all of my people. My bodyguards decided that the media representatives needed to be taught a lesson; namely, do not harass the...

Opening Earth Part 2Chapter 2

My wives said I needed a new wardrobe for the office. Rita was the most insistent, and she had arranged for an appointment with a tailor at a men’s specialty store that Charlie had recommended. Charlie always looked good in the office while he had been with HS, so I accepted his suggestion. Rita knew exactly what I needed as office casual and my other wives agreed, but Charlie had said that whatever I got as off-the-shelf clothing had to be tailored to fit me properly. Cindy had some work to...

Earths CoreChapter 21 Earthrsquos Records

Within a sealed cavern, encompassed by blackness, sitting crossed legs, Zax prepared himself to tackle the fifth bottleneck of insight. Smell, touch, taste, sight ... These were the four bottlenecks of insight Zax already perceived and proceeded to comprehend. Zax was not oblivious. By now he could tell that the bottlenecks of insight have something to do with the five senses. The issue was with him unable to figure out if the remaining sense, sense of hearing, which will probably make him...

Opening Earth Part 1Chapter 21

Our status meeting went well. Matt was making progress on getting a building permit for our temporary facilities and William was finalizing the supporting drawings. I let Matt know that we would have to install the utility equipment at what would be their permanent location, since Chairman Smart had bought me the equipment I would use for the Embassy Compound. I let him know I would get the equipment’s technical details for him when I had a chance and we would get with William to give him...

The Reyes and Rivera families remained at the clinic for the remainder of the day and well into the evening. Misty would periodically check her patients with her analyzer. By early evening, it was apparent that their condition was improving. After Misty informed the families, they returned home except for the mothers, who stayed with their sons for the night. They didn’t want a bed in which to sleep, so we provided them with a couple of our comfortable office chairs. They talked until the...

I arrived a little early for my appointment with Sergei, and was immediately ushered into his office. “Yarl Wilson, who is my installation foreman, Tim, and I, were reviewing the pictures that Tim Hart took at your ranch. Tim told us that you plan to set up a temporary Embassy Compound on your ranch, and live in it for a year or two. Is that right?” “Yes, but we hope it will only be a little over a year from the time we move in, until we can move into the Embassy.” “Yarl mentioned that you...

Opening Earth Part 3Chapter 15

It took a bit longer than I had planned before we were ready to depart. Sereine hopped us to our first intermediary stop just as the sun was rising above the horizon. Three hops later, we arrived in the backyard of Mister Tam’s home. They had started to worry about whether we would get there for the wedding. Mister Tam said they had expected us to arrive three days ago so there would be plenty of time to make any final arrangements that may be necessary, and the wedding was scheduled for...

The four security people traveling with us were new to me. I had just a few minutes to introduce myself before we left Slave World, and I was having trouble recalling their names. Edgar said they were four of the better people that he’d had assigned to him by Kendrick. I would make a point of getting to know them better as I rested between hops. Our first stop on Vora was at my parent’s home. I had timed our departure so we would arrive early enough to have lunch with my Mom and Dad before...

Kendrick wanted to know when I would hold my media conference. The media was in a frenzy to find me. They wanted to know everything about me. My task during the interview was to limit my answers to my public life. He also wanted to set a date for me to meet my Board of Directors. He had contacted the Chairman of the Board and explained how I had inherited the conglomerate. The Chairman wanted at least a week to finalize their presentation. My wives woke me early the next morning. They enjoyed playing in bed yesterday morning, and were thinking of another romp in our bed. We had just started our usual sex play, when Carol made a mad dash for the bathroom. We could hear the sound of her retching, so Rita went to check on her. When Rita returned, she said, “It’s time for Carol to be checked out by Misty. I think she’s pregnant.” “Pregnant!” I exclaimed. “Didn’t she just finish her ovulation period? I didn’t think morning...

Opening Earth Part 1Chapter 7

Matt and his wife Mary were to join my ladies and me for dinner at my home. We had to discuss the trading hop and to make plans for outfitting Matt and Mary for the trip to Vora. Mary turned out to be a moderately attractive redhead in her mid-forties, with the lithe muscular tone of an athlete. Betty had been in her element all day for she had been busy preparing our meal. My ladies tolerance to sugar had increased, so I had cleared them for eating a wider variety of foods. Betty was making...

As I said, we arrived at Wayside two hours later than I had expected. During one of our rest stops, Mac and Martha’s son Timmy wandered around the clearing. He was tired, so he stretched out on a comfy looking bed of leaves and fell asleep. Unfortunately, the leaves were on the far side of a boulder. So, when Dan prepared to hop us to our next stop, no one noticed him behind the boulder. Mac and Martha each thought the other was holding his hand. Martha knew Timmy wasn’t holding her hand,...
